My eyes widen as I watch the blood stain the wood flooring, completely phased as to what was even happening. Scott looks down at his father, hurt and pain behind his eyes. I hear the door slam shut behind me before I see Melissa standing there, her eyes wide when she sees her ex husband lying on the floor dying.

Scott doesn't even think before he's transforming, hair growing from his cheeks and his eyes a burning red. He swipes his claws at the shadow figures as they pull out their swords, fighting Scott off. I didn't know what to do as I stood there, feeling completely helpless. I was so fixed on Scott and the dying man on the floor that I barely had time to notice one of the Oni forming behind Kira.

"Kira!" I shout as I start to run towards her. She cocks her head to the side in confusion as the Oni lifts it's sword up, about to slice it down over Kira. I grunt as I slam into her, the two of us toppling to the floor below. I flutter my eyes open before looking up at the Oni, seeing that it was now fixed on killing both of us. Kira grips my arm as we stare up at the creature, not knowing what to do. I thought it was the end before a blur slams into it, knocking the shadow on it's butt.

Kira and I scramble to our feet when I see a man fighting the Oni, the same man that was fighting them the other night. I think his name was Derek maybe? I'm terrible with names.

"The seal!" Scott yells from the living room, dodging another one of the Oni's swords. Just then, I hear glass break to see the twins fly into the room, their blue eyes glowing. Aiden stares at me for a moment before him and his brother are attacking two of the Oni, grabbing them by the shoulders and pushing them backwards.

"Do it now!" Derek yells when I notice that they had all of the Oni outside of the house. Melissa doesn't hesitate as she grips the jar in her hand and throws it into the doorway, it breaking and creating a seal.

Derek, Scott, and the twins all back up, staring at the Oni who were now punching at the barrier. Kira clings to my arm in fear as we watch a blue glow come from the barrier, confused as to what was even going on. I mean, we are still new to this all.

Scott walks over to the two of us, now back in his human form. "Are you two alright?"

Kira lets me go as she nods slowly. "Yeah, we're fine."

Scott looks over at me as I nod, managing to not look as frightened as Kira did. Scott stares at me for a moment before running off after his mother and father. I sigh as I look back at the barrier, becoming curious myself if it worked on me. Kira must have became curious as well because she was now walking over to the screen door.

I stand behind her as she reaches up slowly, her hand nearing it's way to the barrier. She lets out a tiny grunt as her hand gets thrown back, showing that the barrier applied to her as well. Maybe she was right about this kitsune thing...

"What in the hell are you?" I hear a voice snap. I whip around and see Aiden and Ethan standing there, glares plastered onto their faces.

"I-I don't know," Kira says innocently, still sounding afraid.

Ethan narrows his eyes before reaching out and grabbing Kira's hand, making my hand bawl into a fist at my side. I start to lunge forward to make him take his hand off of her, but it was too late. I watch as the twins throw her hand into the barrier, it flying back once again with the blue light showing. The twins seem satisfied with themselves.

"Still don't know what you are?" Aiden snaps, knowing that we had an idea on what we both were. I was about to come back with a snappy comment before Aiden turn to me, raising an eyebrow. "What about you?"

I furrow my eyebrows. "What do you mean what about me?"

Aiden and Ethan share a glance before grabbing both of my hands, causing me to grunt. My blood boils with rage before the twins pull away suddenly, acting as if they had touched lava.

"What the hell," Ethan mutters, rubbing his hand. That was when I saw that both of their hands had a burnt mark.

Aiden glares at me, not giving into me yet. I narrow my eyes before the next thing I know, the twins are pushing me away from them. I don't understand what they're doing at first, but then I realize that they wanted to see if I could go outside of the barrier.

My legs stumble back before I catch myself, growling under my breath as I stared at the twins. That was when I realized that their eyes were wide, along with Kira's. I shake my head before I realize that I was outside of the barrier.

One of the Oni looks at me suddenly before chasing after me, causing me to panic. I quickly jump back inside of the barrier as it throws it's sword at me, barely missing and hitting the barrier. My breathing increases before the twins turn back to me, shaking their heads.

"Care to tell us what in the hell you are?" Ethan snaps before I see Derek walk over, a blank expression on his face.

"She's a kitsune you idiots," Derek says while pointing to Kira. Derek stops when he looks at me, furrowing his eyebrows. "I'm not sure about you."

My heart drops for a moment before the twins are asking questions. "How do you know she's a kitsune?"

Derek rolls his eyes. "Use your eyes you idiots. It's all around her. You can see it."

The twins just then change their eyes to blue again as they look at Kira, nodding their heads. They then turned their heads to me and cocked their heads to the side.

"Why doesn't she have it?" Ethan asks, pointing at me. For some reason, I felt like an innocent sheep among a pack of wolves, which was partly true.

Derek shakes his head. "I'm not sure. She must not be a kitsune, or she's learned to control the aura."

"Control it?" I ask, shaking my head. "How am I supposed to control something that I didn't even know existed?"

"That's what I don't understand," Derek says, drifting off before the twins are speaking once again.

"Wait, why are you even here Derek?" Aiden says, anger in his tone.

Derek glares at the twins. "Same reason as you two. To protect Scott."

"Like you'll do anything useful," Ethan says, a little smirk forming on is face.

Derek accepts this as a challenge. "Really? Tell me why you're here, huh? To be apart of Scott's pack? Well, I can bet you that that kind of attitude won't get you in. Scott is all about protecting his friends. Can't do that, then there's no point in you even trying."

Aiden and Ethan glare at the wolf. "We're here to fight for him."

"I'm sure you'd kill for him, but would you die for him?" Derek questions, making everyone fall silent. Just then, the sound of the Oni beating against the barrier causes us all to stare, watching in amazement as the creature starts to push it's way inside.

"What is it doing?" Kira asks, clinging to my arm once again.

Derek shakes his head. "They're testing for weaknesses."

I gulp before Scott is walking over to us, blood on his hands. I stare at it before I realize that it must have been from his father, since he was practically dying. I almost had forgotten about him honestly.

"We need to get him to a hospital," Scott says, staring at all of us.

"Kind of hard to do when there's demonic creatures standing outside of the house who want you dead," I say, trying to lighten the mood even just a little.

No one laughs. "What are we supposed to do?"

Scott shakes his head. "I-I'm not sure. He can't wait until morning or else he'll bleed to death. We need to come up with a plan right now."

We all stare at one another in silence, trying to come up with some type of plan. My thoughts stop short when I hear another loud bang come from the outside of the house. I turn and see another one of the Oni banging up against it, finding another weak spot and leaning closer to us.

"They're going to get inside," I state as Kira squeezes harder onto my arm. I could tell how scared she was.

Just then, Scott's phone rings and he's looking up at us with hopeful eyes. "It's Allison."

Scott turns and walks off and talks to Allison as we all watch the Oni beat against the barrier, getting close to breaking it. Every time they managed to hit it, I would either wince or take a step backwards in fear that they would suddenly get inside and have a murder party.

Kira looks up at me slowly. "Sarah, what are we supposed to do?"

I shake my head. "I-I don't know. Hopefully Allison knows something about all of this."

Kira nods. "What if I'm the one they want? What if I'm the one they've been looking for?"

I shake my head and look down at my friend. "They aren't after you Kira. I promise you."

Just then, Scott walks back into the room as he shoves his phone into his back pocket. "What do we do?"

"Let them get inside," Scott states, making us all widen our eyes.

"Excuse me?" I question, raising my eyebrows. "They'll kill us all!"

"No they won't," Scott says, staring at me. "They're just looking for one that is not themselves. They're looking for a nogitsune."

I shake my head. "Can you speak english please?"

Scott sighs as the house shakes again. "They're looking for someone who is possessed."

We all widen our eyes before Scott continues. "Don't fight them. They won't hurt us as long as we cooperate, got it?"

Aiden steps forward. "What if you're the one they're looking for? We can't let them kill you."

"We'll worry about that later," Scott states before the house shakes one last time. We all look back at the screen door to see that the Oni broke the barrier. Kira lets go of my arm as she stands next to Scott, looking as if they both were about to be sacrificed or something.

The Oni stare at us all before walking forward and placing their hands behind Scott and Kira's ears, their eyes glowing their bright green. The two teens stare into their eyes before I see Scott fall to the ground, his eyes wide like mine were when I was "checked".

I wait for Kira to fall before she finally does, making my heart finally beat again. I run to Kira's side as she shakes on the floor, her skin ice cold. The twins and Derek all run to Scott's side as I focus on creating heat in my hands to warm Kira up. I feel my hands burn before I lightly lay my hand across her forearm, causing her to instantly sit up.

"What happened?" she questions as she scans my face. "Was I the one they were looking for?"

I shake my head. "No, you weren't the one. Neither was Scott."

Kira laughs joyfully as she pulls me into a hug, glad that she wasn't possessed by whatever this nogitsune thing is. I am happy for her for a moment before I pull away, my face draining.

"Wait, if none of us are possessed, then who is?"
