Camp Half-Blood

"Leo, where'd you put my wrench? I need it to tighten Jake's tail bone, it's gettin' loose again." I asked my brother. "It's in the tool box." Leo replied taking off his goggles and wiping the sweat from his face. "Oh, thanks!" I told him grabbing the wrench. Oh hello there. I'm Leena. Leena Valdez, younger sister to Leo Valdez. I have curly black hair, brown eyes, a cheerful face, a slim build body, and a mischievous smile. Me and Leo are Hispanic-Americans and natives of Texas, we currently live in a cabin in the mountains of New York. We're both 12. Me and Leo are orphans; mom died in a fire in the family workshop because we killed her with fire and we didn't mean to but it just... happened. Dad died from old age. I'm just fixing up Jake my metal dragon. His screws on his tail bone keep coming loose. "Just hang in there Jake. I promise I'll try to find some better screws." I told him petting his metal head. He let out a low growl. "I know buddy, someday it'll stop. The pain will stop." I said wiping some oil leaking out of his eyes. Oh my gosh he's adorable.

"How's Jake doin'?" Leo asked handing me a rag to wipe the oil from my face. "Not any better. I just need to find the right screws." I told him tightening the last screw and watching him fly again. I wiped the oil off my hands and face as I packed up my tools and put them back in the workshop. "Yeah, Jordon's not doing so well either. Come and see..." He said leading me to his side of the workshop. His jaw kept getting stuck at random times no matter how much oil we use. "Oh gosh! Hey Jordon, how you doin' buddy?" I asked the dragon. He nuzzled his large metal head in my hand. "Leo, you don't think it's... time? Do you?" I turned to my brother with an anxious look. He knew the look too well; when I meant time I meant was it time for them to be put in a junkyard. It also told him I was thinking of mom and dad. "I hope not, they're the only family we have." He said placing hand on my shoulder. I nodded as I watched Jake and Jordon play Lord of The Fire Rings. It's basically Lord of The Rings just with fire. I smiled at them, they just reminded me of something I heard when mom died.

~Le FLASHBACK~

"You did it, you killed your mother with fire and now Hephaestus will have no choice to accept you two when the time comes. You did it... you did it... you did it..." a scathing voice said as though it was as peaceful as a birthday party.

~Le end of FLASHBACK~

"Leena, you good?" Leo asked as my eyes were coming back into focus. "Yeah. Just... just the flashback." I told him tossing my gloves and goggles on my bedside table. I sat on my bed and said, "Leo, what did happen when mom died?" I asked hoping he would tell me. I was 4 when she died and Leo was 5. He understood more than me at the time. He sighed and came and sat next to me. "Mom was finishing the prototypes of Jake & Jordon and she was kindling the fire. You and me were watching; well I was watching, you were looking 'round the room. Then you yawned and mom screamed. She was being burned and I didn't know what to do. I just sat there horrified and in hope she would survive but then she collapsed to the ground and a scathing voice came and said-" I cut Leo off by saying, "You did it, you killed your mother with fire and now Hephaestus will have no choice to accept you two when the time comes. You did it... you did it... you did it..." I looked him in the eye and he nodded. I knew I wasn't imagining it. I laid there on my pillow and faced the wall with my back to Leo.

"Leo, this was in the mail." I told him handing him a letter that I found in the mail box. It was orange and said "Camp Half-Blood" on it. "Oh crap, oh crap, oh crap." Leo muttered to himself as he read the letter. "Leena, we gotta pack now. Just grab the tools and clothes." He ordered. Da fook? I thought. "Leo, you alright? You seem worried." I asked him packing my backpack with my tools and some shirts, pants, socks, sneakers, suspenders, my goggles, gloves and the tracking device I use on Jake. "Leo what's going on?" I asked again following him out the door. "Just come on, Leena!" He barked. I stared at him offended because Leo was never like this before. What's got him all worked up? "Leonidas Valdez, what is going on?!" I yelled at him using his full first name. He turned and looked at me and sighed. "Leena, I don't have time to explain. Please lets go, we're in danger!" He pleaded. I thought about it for a minute and walked towards him. "Fine." I said grabbing his hand as he lead me through the forest with Jake and Jordon following us.

We ran forever but stopped at this random place called, "Camp Half-Blood". We walked in under the sign and walked around until we stopped in front of a boy who had black hair, a blue shirt, blue shoes, blue, socks, blue shorts and a blue jacket. Clearly he liked blue. "Hi, I'm Percy Jackson. Nice to meet you." The boy said sticking his hand out to Leo. "Leo Valdez. Nice to meet you too Percy." Leo said shaking his hand. "So am I a spare gear now Leo?" I asked at him. He turned to me and rolled his eyes. "This is my sister, Leena Valdez AKA the annoying one of us." I hit his arm and turned to Percy. "Nice to meet you Percy." I told him shaking his hand. "Nice to meet you too, Leena." He said.
