claudia and the phantom phone calls.
"BOO!" Pam exclaimed, jumping into Stacey's room.
Stacey let out a shriek and dropped her blush brush, the powder going into the air.
Pam giggled and snorted, holding her stomach.
"I hate you so much." Stacey groaned.
"I love you too." Pam laughed.

"DID HE ASK YOU TO THE DANCE OR NOT?!" Kristy exclaimed at the club meeting that day.
Claudia munched on her licorice, while Pam typed on her Apple laptop with many stickers.
"Well?" Kristy asked.
"He asked me if I was going and said he'd see me there. So he basically asked me. We'll be there together...basically." Claudia cringed.
"Here's the thing. A guy like Trevor Sandbourne isn't gonna like, show up at your door with a corsage. That's just not the way things are done in his kind of circles." Stacey explained.
Pam lifted up her slushee to her mouth, taking a long sip with wide eyes, about to see things go down.
"Which are what, exactly?" Kristy asked, narrowing her eyes.
"Sophisticated circles. Artistic circles." Stacey told Kristy.
Kristy shook her head disappointingly.
"Are you gonna wear a costume?" Mary Anne asked Claudia.
"I was gonna be a Troll doll, but for Trevor, I might have to think of something a little more soigné." Claudia giggled.
Pam groaned and placed a hand on her forehead.
"You're gonna get all dressed up for some stupid guy who didn't even both to ask you out for real, Claud? That's so...disgusting." Pam scoffed, adjusting her keyboard on her lap.
"That's cause you've only had one relationship." Stacey giggled.
"Spill?" Claudia asked.
Pam sighed and put the laptop off her lap and picked up her slushee.
"I was in sixth grade, there was this dude I liked, I asked him out, he said yes, we dated for a year and then he fell out of love and broke up with me. Simple and plain." Pam explained with a bored and annoyed tone.
"That's kinda sad." Mary Anne pointed out.
"It's fine." Pam shrugged.
"You cried for two weeks over him." Stacey reminded her sister.
"No I didn't." Pam defended, on the verge of tears.
The girl leaned back into Claudia's bed and took her slushee with her, sipping on it sadly.
"What about you, Mary Anne? That cute boy Logan might be there." Stacey painted out, "The one you're always staring at who volunteers at the library?"
"I don't know what you're talking about. Anyway, there's no way my dad would let me go. He's been spinning out enough lately about the Phantom Caller." Mary Anne defended.
"What's that?" Stacey asked.
"Some weirdo home invader that was on the news. Apparently, you get these creepy anonymous phone calls. Then, you realize that the calls were coming from inside the house." Mary Anne explained slowly.
Right after she did, the babysitters club phone started ringing.
The girls yelped and stared at the phone with scared eyes.
Kristy, who was the closest, slowly brought her hand up to it.
"Hello? Babysitters club."
Kristy listen for a couple seconds.
"Hold please."
Kristy pressed the mute button.
"Watson needs a sitter on Friday."
"But that's the night of the dance." Claudia pointed out.
"Yeah, we're definitely going." Stacey added.
"I can. I have nothing going on." Pam offered kindly.
"No, Pamelita, you deserve some time off. Especially after the Barrets last week." Mary Anne told the blonde, using the nickname the club came up with a week ago.
"I've never seen so many toys." Pam whispered shakily, remembering the frantic house.
"Kristy, this is like the seventh time that your mom or Watson has called in with a job. You're the only one that hasn't gone, and you're the only one they actually want." Mary Anne admitted to the girl.
Kristy smiled and brought the phone up to her ear, unmuting it.
"Mary Anne Spier will be your sitter on Friday. Have a wonderful day!"
Kristy slammed the phone onto the receiver.
"So does that mean you're going to the Halloween Hop after all?" Claudia asked kindly.
"I'd rather have head lice...again." Kristy scoffed.
"You get head lice a lot." Claudia pointed out.
Kristy shrugged.

(A/N: BLACK SHORTS TOO!!)
PAM SAT AT THE LUNCH TABLE WITH A FRUIT SALAD IN HER HAND, sticking her fork angrily into a piece of cantaloupe and sticking it into her mouth.
"Why is she eating that fruit salad so aggressively?" Clauida whispered to Stacey, as the two studied for the little girls math test.
"Our parents told her to 'watch her weight' last night at dinner, and they're only making her eat fruits, dried fruits and vegetables for meals. And she can only drink water and juice products." Stacey whispered.
Pam stuck her fork into a piece of pineapple and stuck it in her mouth with sour eyes.
"No slushees?" Claudia asked.
"No. Slushees." Stacey whispered.
Claudia turned around and saw her crush, Trevor, with a skateboard.
The boy waved to her.
He then began walking towards the table.
"Oh, my god, he's coming over here!" Claudia squealed, sitting closer to Stacey.
"Pam, get excited!" Stacey whispered.
Pam (who had a can of lemonade at her lips) looked at Stacey with narrowed eyes.
The blonde crunched the can and threw it onto the ground.
"I'm watching my weight, Stacey. I can't focus on anything else."
"Go on, tell them."
The three looked up and saw Kristy and Mary Anne.
"I can't babysit for the Brewers tomorrow night." Mary Anne admitted.
"She was twenty minutes late last night, and her dad grounded her. Now I'm the one who's gonna have to sit for stupid Watson's stupid kids, unless one of you decides not to go to the dance or Pam finally realizes she needs to help." Kristy complained.
"I've done more babysitting than you."
The four girls looked over at Pam shocked, as the blonde picked at her white acrylic nails.
"And I don't think you should be complaining about something as simple as babysitting, Kristy! You're acting like a two year old who doesn't wanna go to...daycare! You need to babysit for the kids, or else we're going to loose a lot of clients because you can't seem to grow up!" Pam shot at the brunette.
Kristy blinked a couple times, not expecting Pam to say something as detailed as that.
"Well...I'm trying to run a business here! And it's not crazy to be mad when someone behaves unprofessionally." Kristy said, looking at Pam and Mary Anne.
Pam rolled her eyes and threw a dry strawberry in her mouth, her eyes scrunching up due to it being quite sour.
"You know who is crazy? Richard Spier!"
"Kristy, come on." Mary Anne whispered.
"He's paranoid! He treats you like some kind of china doll in a box! And this whole thing with the Phantom Tollbooth-"
"Phantom Caller." Stacey corrected kindly.
"Whatever. He's a psycho. Even my mom thinks so! He's not normal." Kristy told the girls.
"And what would you know about having a normal dad?!"
The girls looked at Mary Anne, who had a sudden outburst.
"Kristy. I mean, I..."
Kristy picked up her lunch and stood up, storming away.
"I'm a horrible person." Mary Anne sighed, getting up and following her.
"What was that?" Claudia asked Pam.
"What was what?" Pam asked, confused.
"That outburst. It wasn't really like you." Stacey pointed out.
"I'm just...fed up with Kristy."
••••
"FAIL." Claudia groaned, holding up her failed test to Stacey and Pam.
"It's better than last time." Stacey assured her.
"Yeah! Maybe your parents will be like 'Yay! Improvement!'" Pam smiled with jazz hands.
"Trevors gonna think I'm a total loser." Claudia sighed.
"If I were a boy, I would be dead crazy over you, Claudia!" Pam exclaimed.
"Thanks, Pamelita." Claudia smiled, hugging the girls waist.
"What about me?! I know basically no one at this school besides you, Kristy, Mary Anne and Pam! And non of you are gonna be at the dance." Stacey whined.
"I'm sorry, Stace." Claudia whispered, "I really am."
Stacey looked around the hallway.
"Okay, here, take this."
Stacey took out a test from her locker and handed it to Claudia.
"What's this for?" Claudia giggled.
"Yeah, seriously, what is this?" Pam asked, looking at the test herself.
"Officially, study purposes. Unofficially, you'll notice that I wrote everything in pencil, including my name at the top. So if you wanted to make use of one of those fancy gummy bear erasers you carry around and take some artistic license-"
"You mean lie to my parents?" Claudia asked nervously.
"No! Just, hide the truth until tomorrow, after you and Trevor are fully in love, and you got to wear your amazing Halloween costume. Claudia, this is my first school dance at a new school. And I really want you there."
Stacey shut her locker door gently and locked it, grabbing Pam's hand and leading her out of the school.
••••
PAM PLACED SOME BLUSH ONTO STACEY'S CHEEKS, getting her ready for the dance.
"You look so pretty." Pam cooed once she finished.
"It's a little much-"
"You're gonna have the best costume." Pam interrupted.
Stacey looked at her sisters outfit.
"Where are you going?"
"What do you mean?" Pam acted innocently, packing up the makeup.
"At this time of night, you're usually in pajamas. Tell me where you're going." Stacey said.
"I'm going to get some real food instead of the stupid stuff I've been eating for three days!" Pam whispered.
"You can't do that! I'm telling mom!" Stacey whispered.
"If you tell mom I'm telling her about how you got the answers for Claudia."
Stacey eyed her sister up and down.
"Pretty sneaky, sis."
Pam laughed and tightened her high ponytail.
••••
PAM GRABBED HER PAINT-SPLASHED SKATEBOARD OUT OF HER CLOSET, heading into the hallway.
"Dad?"
Her father looked up.
"Yes, Pamela?"
"I'm going out for a while. With friends. And we're gonna skate." Pam informed him nervously.
"Skate? I thought we were over that bad habit, Pamela." Her father tisked, looking up from the newspaper.
"W-Well...I just wanna have a little fun. And, it will help me loose weight." Pam pointed out.
Her father sighed and brought a hand up to his temple.
"Just-Be back by ten."
Pam smiled with victory and went to the door, opening it and running out into the pitch-black sidewalk, lit up by the streetlights.
She dropped her skateboard onto the ground and hopped onto it, lifting her leg and to give herself more speed.
"I'm finally free." Pam whispered, smiling as she skated to her happy place.
••••
PAM WALKED INTO 7-11 WITH HER SKATEBOARD ON HER SIDE.
She waved to the cashier, Mable.
The two were very good friends.
"Hey-o, Mable!" Pam giggled.
"Looking for anything?" Mable asked.
"Chocolate milk, a blue slushee and candy." Pam smiled.
The woman nodded and smiled.
Pam went to the back of the gas station and grabbed a medium sized carton of chocolate milk.
She then grabbed a pack of licorice, sour gummy worms, jellybeans and chocolate.
The blonde headed over to the slushee machine and got the largest size, filling it up to the top and placing a clear cover on it and grabbed a straw.
The girl walked over to the cashier and placed everything on it.
Mable rung everything up.
"17.84." Mable smiled, "And I assume it's on the tab?"
Pam nodded.
"When are you gonna pay up?" Mable groaned.
"I'll pay up when I get enough money! I wasted it all on thrift shopping!" Pam whined.
Mable sighed.
"Just don't tell our boss. Josh, Aidan, Amaryllis and Avi are cool with it. So if they're working, just tell them about the tab." Mable smiled.
The blonde winked at the smaller girl, which made her giggle.
"Thanks, Mable!" Pam waved, heading out the door with her candy and drinks.
••••
PAM SAT BY THE SIDEWALK ON HER SKATEBOARD, drinking chocolate milk from the carton while her phone had girl in red pouring out of it.
"Summer depression come every year. I just wanna disappear."
"Summer depression. So much time to question my life, summer depression." Pam muttered, popping some candy into her mouth.
Her phone stopped playing girl in red and began playing her ringtone, Sports by Beach Bunny.
"I'm tired of waiting! I was never good at sports."
Pam picked up her phone from the ground and saw a text.
