Chapter 9
I was home feeling better than I had ever felt in the last one month. When I got to the bakery, I noticed 2 men leaving, they both wore black suits and dark shades. They got into an expensive looking car and drove off.
"Dad, who were those guys?" I asked my father once I got in. He had an apron tied around him and an evident scrowl on his face.
"Just some annoying pest disturbing me about you, this is the second time they are coming"
" What did they say dad? "I got more curious.
" Dancing stuff, they want to enroll you in a special dance college."He replied in utter disgust.
My shoulders slumped at that, I massaged my temple severally while swallowing huge lumps of saliva that had formed, I needed a lot of courage to drop the bombshell.
"Dad" I stopped him and studied his facial expression, his gaze was firmly fixed on me now.
"I want to join the dance college" I broke it to him.
I watched his expression, no molten lava was coming out from his eyes, no fiery fire balls, just an expressionless face.
"You must be hungry, I researched on it and noticed hunger can make one spew rubbish"He broke the brief silence and turned to leave but I knew it was now or never.
"Dad I'm serious, I want to dance, dancing makes me happy, dancing is my passion. Yes I know I'm a good material for medicine but I don't derive joy from there, I wouldn't want to start what I can't finish. My story and yours aren't the same dad, we are two different humans with different fates. If you want me to be happy, let me do what my heart yearns, please dad, please"I begged. The tears that had pooled in my eyes were now beginning to run down on my face.
I didn't know what was on my dad's mind because he kept staring at me like I grew an extra head, like he was still trying to comprehend what I had spilled.
My dad didn't say a word, he simply turned around and walked away.

Three days after I had spilled my guts to my dad, he hadn't spoken a word to me about it. I was at a corner teaching Yemi a topic from mathematics, bearing. A lot of students dreaded the topic but it was a walk over for me.
I noticed the doors went open and the two men on suit walked in, one slightly taller than the other.
"Kelechi" My dad called me and I left to answer. I sat beside my dad while the two men sat across the table. The taller dude was light skinned with a birthmark close to his eye. He had a low afro. The shorter dude was more good looking, he had a really cool baby face.
"They have come to sign you into their dance college in New York"Dad announced and my eyes lit up, I looked at my dad in admiration and gratitude and without warning I had my arms wrapped around his neck. He really reconsidered.
"Make me proud my little girl" He muttered close to my ears.
The two guys, Mark and Wilson had smiles on their faces as they handed my papers and everything I needed over to me.
"Congratulations Miss Kelechi, you are officially a student of New York dance college, New York City awaits you. Good luck"The shorter one said. They were both talent scouts and the college was the best in the world and I was indeed lucky.
I hugged my dad once more and ran into Yemi's arms.
"I'm going to New York City!!" I sequel like a child
Yemi hugged more tightly.
" Awwn, I'm so proud of you big head and I'll miss you so much" He looked like he was going to cry.
" Don't worry, we have a little more time but immediatly after final exams, I'm leaving"
" I'm proud of you honestly, for chasing your dreams and being strong. Make us proud"
" So you can be emotional, see the way his talking like he has sense"I laughed as he eyed me.
" You don't have brain. Goat" He insulted and I smacked his head swiftly, he raised me effortlessly from the ground while I laughed.
Another phase of my life was about to begin and I wasn't scared.
