Sanyukta smiled, her eyes getting moist while looking at the massive mansion in front of her. When was the last time she had seen her childhood home? It had been more than a year since she visited her house.
She noticed that the house was decorated beautifully, just like a to be wed bride. It was her brother's engagement so definitely the celebration was bound to happen. Not that she was jealous of her brother, in fact she loved him a lot. Though he was rude and overprotective at times he simply was an amazing brother.
"Sanyukta?! Why are you standing there? Come inside." Sanyukta nodded her head at her mother who was almost dragging her inside. Sanyukta shook her head at her mother's excitement.
As she was walking inside the house with her mother by her side she got too many stares. Of course they were surprised to see her after so long time. She was never present at any of the gatherings or functions but she couldn't miss her brother's engagement only in fear of what people will say. People have mouths and they are going to talk, good or bad and it didn't matter to her because she was living for herself not for others. This was her life and they had no right to judge or whatsoever
As Sanyukta stepped inside the massive living room her eyes immediately searched for her father. As her eyes roamed around the living room, they halted meeting a similar pair of eyes standing near the L shaped couch. She gasped looking at her father who was standing with, who looked like some of his business associates. He looked weak than the last time she saw him. His skin looked more wrinkled and his hair were cut short which almost were shining due to the hair oil. He looked at her for one whole minute then turned his eyes away from her. She felt hurt at his dismissive behaviour though she was used to it. It always hurt, the look in his eyes and the way he pursed his lips in displeasure and flared his nose.
She very well knew the reason of his behaviour. It all started when she agreed to marry Randhir against his will. She still remembered that day. The day when she decided to marry her love.
"Sanyukta why can't you agree? Why?" Renuka, Randhir's mother questioned her voice hoarse, like she had been crying. Though he eyes were wide and pleading her lips were pulled in a frown. Gulping a huge lump formed in her throat Sanyukta let out a sigh.
"I love him a lot. I do but I cannot go against my father. You know that he dislikes randhir and if I marry him against my father's will, he will hate Randhir even more. Try to understand madam." Sanyukta explained, try to convince Renuka that it was absolutely ridiculous idea to marry Randhir without her father's permission. She loved him alright but she also loved her father.
"Sanyukta, He loves you and you also love him so what's the problem? After you rejected his proposal a month ago he changed. He doesn't want talk to anyone, he started smoking and drinking. He turned into a complete different person and I'm afraid I may lose my son forever. After he found out about your engagement with Samir Mithhal..."
"Engagement? What are you talking about?" Sanyukta asked confused. She did not know what possessed into her to reject his marriage proposal a month ago. It was not like she was not ready to settle down, she just wanted her father to accept her relationship with Randhir. She wanted his blessing but now after hearing about Randhir she felt ashamed and guilty.
It had been a month since she talked to him. After she had rejected his proposal pit of nowhere her father send her to her granny's place. It was miles away from her hometown and her father even took away her phone. It was extremely difficult for her to get in contact with Randhir because firstly her mobile phone was not with her and secondly her grandmother had eyes of a hawk. It was like she was watching her every move.
After living at her granny's place with no means of communication she got bored and suspicious. Silently she sneaked away from her granny's place today morning. After travelling from there she came here to meet Randhir but instead she found his mother.
"Umm yes. Aren't you getting engaged to Samir Mithhal?" Renuka asked while taking out the card from the drawer. She had kept it in the drawer after Randhir angrily tossed it on the floor. Renuka couldn't believe the nerve of Kishore to send engagement card to their place. He was surely rubbing his victory in their faces.
Terrified Sanyukta snatched the card and opened it. She gasped looking at content. Her engagement was scheduled tomorrow and she was not even informed. Her father really planned it well. He kept her away so that she wouldn't attempt anything that would create hurdles.
She covered her mouth with her hand while looking at the purple paper with golden bold printed letters on it. Sue angrily crumbled the paper. She couldn't believe it. Her father was hell bent on destroying her life. What was he thinking? Surely nothing. Samir Mithhal was not even close to Randhir, hell he was the most arrogant and chauvinist pig she had ever met. He had problem with her working. He wanted her to be the perfect housewife, clearly that bastard was living in eighties. On top of that he had the audacity to dictate her the things she was not allowed to do after marriage. Due to his ridiculous behaviour she had rejected him a year ago, but now he was back again.
She thought about Randhir. He was her love. She didn't know how it happened. First they hated each other so much but as time passed they became friends and then turned into lovers. He was the most sensible and handsome guy she had ever met. He was not only caring and loving but also supporting. He wanted her to follow her passion, he wanted them to start a company together. She was always happy whenever she was with him. Though he fought with her most of the time, he was the first one to apologise. That's how much he loved her.
"Madam I am ready to marry Randhir" She declared with confidence. Sanyukta was not afraid anymore. She was going to show her father what she was capable of.
"I am so happy with your decision honey. Now go meet your soon to be husband and give him this wonderful news" Renuka teased. Her lips broke into a smile hearing Sanyukta. She was really happy that her son was getting his love back. Sanyukta would bring him back, she would lighten his life. This news will definitely put an end to his reckless behaviour.
Sanyukta smiled shyly and nodded her head. She was going to meet him after a month. But will he meet her? The news of her engagement would have broke him. He must have felt like she betrayed him. He must be so broken right now. 'I can do this. I can explain everything to him' With that thought Sanyukta walked out of Randhir's house.
"Sanyukta?! Sanyukta!" She turned her head towards her mother who was looking at her worriedly. Sanyukta smiled while shaking her head. The memories were raw and this was just beginning of them.
