imagine glenn seeing you practice with your knives and being in complete awe.
"
you had arrived at the prison several days ago and was very glad they decided to let you stay. you hadn't felt this safe in a long time, but you also didn't want to forget the danger that was outside the fences. and so you had decided to keep on practising with the small knives you had picked up in a weapons store.
the target was a piece of paper with a circle painted on it, which was of course a lot easier than moving walkers but it would have to do. taking a deep breath you steadied yourself, planting your feet firmly on the ground. raising the knife you held it tightly by the blade, holding it next to your ear and finally you released it, watching as the blade twirled through the air before finally landing right in the middle of the circle.
smirking slightly you picked up the second knife, holding the third ready in your other hand. taking the same position again you threw the second knife, the weapon piercing the paper right under the other kife. but you didn't take a moment to marvel at it and threw the third knife and before it even landed inside the target you had thrown the forth as well.
both weapons found their way closely next to the first knives, forming a small circle inside the target. happiness waved through you upon realising you were still able to take out walkers if necessary. walking forwards you suddenly felt as if someone was watching you. slowly you turned, your gaze meeting with an asian boy. you'd seen him around before but never had gotten a chance to talk to him.
quickly taking your knives out of the target you walked towards him, a smile appearing on your face when he looked away in shame when he realised you caught him staring.
"hey," you greeted him.
shyly he lifted his eyes to meet yours. "hi, y-you're new here right?" he stuttered uncomfortably.
his awkward behaviour made you unable to stop smiling as you nodded. "yeah, i am, name's y/n."
"glenn," he said, reaching out his hand.
chuckling lightly you shook his hand, surprised by how soft his skin felt. yours had become pretty rough from all the time spend in the woods and training with your knives. suddenly realising you had been holding on to him for a little longer than might've been normal you coughed awkwardly and quickly let go.
"you're pretty good with those knives," he changed the subject, gesturing at the weapons in your hands.
"yeah, it took some practise but i got it," you replied when an idea started to form in your head. "would you like if i taught you?"
a small smile appeared on his face as his eyes lit up. "you sure?"
you nodded, gesturing for him to follow you to the target. "of course, come on."
his smile widened as he dropped the shovel he'd been holding and followed you across the field. and it was only then you realised you hadn't been able to stop smiling since the first word you said to him.
