Chapter Three

Troy was at a loss of what to do. He was the captain of the soccer team and now the coach had quit, everyone was looking up to him. Even though he was confused and didn't know what to do, he wasn't about to tell his teammates that.

When Troy arrived at the training grounds, much to his surprise, there were only five people in attendance.

"Where are all the others?" Troy asked Alex.

"They all talked about joining the winning team", Alex replied.

"So, now we're only five?" Troy asked in disbelief.

"Yeah. I guess so. So will we still train? How can we play without the others?" Alex asked, clearly worried.

"Yeah, we will still train and I'll figure out how we will play without the others. We can organise soccer tryouts. Oh, and you guys, thanks for sticking with the team", Troy replied.

"Isn't it too late to organise soccer tryouts?"

"Don't worry. I'll figure everything out", Troy said and commenved the training with only five of his teammates.

Trudging into his bedroom, Troy knew he had to talk to someone about everything. Even though he had promised his remaining five teammates that he would figure everything out, he wasn't sure if that was possible. He knew he would get good advice from his dad.

When Troy peeked into his dad's work area, he was working on a painting as usual.

"Hey, Dad", Troy said and stood next to his dad.

"Hey, Troy. What's up?" his dad asked.

"I just wanted to discuss something with you. The coach has quit and most of my teammates have left the team and --- " Troystarted to say, but was quickly interrupted by his dad.

"Is this about soccer? You know that this topic brings back painful memories", Troy's dad said.

"But, dad ---" Troy started, still persistent.

"That's enough, Troy!" Troy's dad shouted furiously.

Troy slammed the door angrily in his dad's face. He just didn't understand his dad. That accident happened years adgo. Why was he still dwelling on his past? Maybe he should talk to his mum about it. Or not. His mum would probably not understand him. She didn't know much about soccer and she was terribly ill. Probably, talking to another person would help.

Logan Campbell knew he was too harsh on his son. Wasn't it soccer that ruined his career as a coach? He was on his way to the stadium for a soccer match and had a car accident. Now, he was stuck in a wheelchair for the rest of his life. Sure, he loved being an artist but there was nothing he loved more than soccer. He knew he could still be a soccer coach but no one wanted to employ a coach in a wheelchair.
