Chapter Five
Troy looked on with content at his new teammates playing. If he was honest with himself, some of his friends from youth group played better than his former teammates. One thing worried Troy, though. He wasn't sure if he was complying with the rules by having teammates from other schools. He talked to Jordan about it. They then checked in the rule book and found out that having teammates from other schools was allowed. Troy was relieved when he found that out. Now he could get that off his chest.
When Troy went back to the training grounds, he then realised how hungry he was. He saw some of his teammates munching on some snacks and wondered where they got those snacks from. His question was soon answered when he saw a girl sharing some chocolate chip cookies. Wait, what was a girl doing on the team?
"Who's that?" Troy asked Ned, pointing towards the girl who was sharing snacks.
"That's Jenny. She's here to provide snacks, uniforms and such", Ned answered.
"Oh ok", Troy said.
Training soon ended and as everyone was leaving, Troy took the opportunity to talk to Jenny.
"Hey", Troy said.
"Hi. You're Troy, right?" Jenny asked.
"Yeah. Thanks for everything", Troy said.
"You're welcome", Jenny said and headed towards the exit with Troy trailing behind her.
Images of Jenny filled Troy's mind as he went to bed. Her curlly brown hair that reached to her shoulders, her piercing green eyes and the confidence that she carried about. Troy knew she definitely had something Brenda didn't have. Speaking of which, he wasn't sure where his relationship with Brenda was. He had been avoiding Brenda but he knew he would have to face her sooner or later. Now back to Jenny. He wanted to be friends with Jenny and he knew he had to work on that.
He was glad things were going on well with the team, but in the rule book he had read earlier that no team could play without a coach. Where would he find a coach? The final match was fast approaching and he was worried that his team wouldn't get to play because of this. A miracle had just happened. Troy had never imagined that his friends from youth group would become his teammates. Troy knew that he didn't have to worry. His team would get a coach, somehow, someway, with God's help.
