Narrator's P.O.V.

After many years of being trapped in the Underground, the monsters are finally being freed. The young child, Chara, has successfully broken the barrier. Of course the child had help from those they had befriended, but the barrier was finally shattered and the monsters were free once more.

When people first came into contact with these monsters, they started to fear them and worry for there lives. The monsters' appearances weren't the friendliest, but the humans soon brushed it off as normal. Of course there were still problems between the two, but not as many as you might presume. Queen Toriel had changed from her, 'slaughter them all' personality, and has become a talented leader. She and Chara have been working together to get rights and laws made for the monsters, which they surprisingly got after years of fighting for it.

Through those years, one skeleton family has changed, drastically.

Sans, the trap happy skeleton. (I feel like I'm reading off his Pokédex entry.) He used to only want to trap humans, battle them, and bring their corpse to the queen. Nowadays he's working for the police department, with Alphys.

His brother on the other hand. He's been out and about, but Sans has no clue what his profession is. Papyrus never talks about it and seems to just want to go to sleep after he's back. Sans has since dropped the subject and tries to make sure his brother eats properly every night.

The relationship between them has changed for the better. They seem to actually treat each other like brothers instead of master and mutt, like before. Sans genuinely feels sorry for what he did. Papyrus has forgiven him, but still flinches whenever Sans gets angry, or upset. Sans has become more open and loving towards his brother and Papyrus can see that now. It makes them both feel better than before.

Today was a boring and calm day. Crimes were minor and policemen and women there to respond immediately. Papyrus was out doing lord knows what, but Sans' mind wasn't on him at the moment. He was walking through the police department, when he noticed someone walking through with a small puppy. He immediately walked over to them, perplexed by the fact they brought a dog to work. "Excuse me, I have a question for you."

The officer turned around and in Sans' direction. "Yes? What can I do for ya?" Sans could hear the officer's southern drawl very quickly. It made him want to laugh, but he kept that to himself. "Why did you bring a dog here? Isn't it against the rules to bring pets?" The officer chuckled. "Yes, it's against the rules to bring your pet to the department, but I didn't bring my pet. I brought a new recruit." The officer then picked up the puppy and showed Sans. "He's part of the next generation of Canine Officers. They help us on drug busts, findin' missin' people, and all sorts of different cases."

Sans held a look of wonder on his skeletal face. "They can be trained to do that? I never knew." The officer chuckled once more, smiling all the while. "Yessir they can. It's pertty cool, now ain't it?" Sans nodded. "Well I'm off to go get this here pup ready for its first trainin' lesson." The officer then waved and left, setting the pup down and letting it walk on its own. Sans then sped walked off, going to find Alphys.

~Timeskip~

Sans, after a long day and boring at work, he comes home to see Papyrus quickly hiding something in his room. Sans quirks her head to the side; making him look like an innocent puppy, and walks towards his brother. "Papyrus?" Papyrus, upon hearing his name and his brother, quickly turns around. "M-M'Lor- I mean, Sans. What're you doing home so early? I surely thought you'd be out later, since police work doesn't often have breaks." Sans shook his head. "It was quite uneventful. I did find out that the there is such thing as a Canine Officer. They train dogs, mainly German Shepherds from the looks of it, and prepare them for different possible cases."

Papyrus smiles. "I-I have something to show you." Sans tilts his head once more. "What do you mean, 'You have something to show me'?" Papyrus ignores his question and opens his bedroom door. Suddenly a blur of brown and black comes sprinting out of the room. A yip comes from the hyper creature. Sans then spots the creature laying on his couch, noticing that it is a German Shepherd pup, just like the one the officer had.

Sans hugged the pup close, noticing a collar on its neck. A golden tag was on it, and the name engraved on it was (Y/N). Though nether of the boys were able to pick this name, they liked it nonetheless. The pup liked his cheek, enjoying the closeness and warmth coming from the short skeleton.

(Papyrus got you at a rescue shelter/pound)

Sans smiled. "Papyrus? How did you afford a pup, much less know I wanted one?"

"I worked. I was taking lots of jobs and getting paid decent money for it. The reason I got you a pup was because, well, I had a feeling you'd like a loyal dog more than a lazy cat."

Not that Papyrus would dare tell his brother, he had read his diary and found this out. Sans has been wanting a loyal pet for ages, but had no clue what he wanted. Papyrus thought that a German Shepherd would be perfect, so that's what he did. Papyrus is NEVER telling Sans the truth. EVER.

"You did what?!"

"Oh no..."

(He heard me through the fourth wall?!)

(Alrighty. I know it's short, but I like it. I hope you enjoyed. I know the reader didn't get super close to Sans/Raspberry, but I like the ending nonetheless.)
