The crunching of the snow beneath the beast's enormous paws were quick and seemed almost delicate. Dodging every tree and bone coming anywhere near the creature. It was obvious that the beast had encountered far more troublesome opponents, but wasn't a master of dodging yet, for a yelp of pain erupted from the jaws of the beast.
"Stay down, you mongrel." A demon like form spoke out with a venomous tone. The face of the demon was barely visible from the light of its cigarette, but the yellow light shone bright enough to show a skeleton staring down in hate.
"Let this be the last time you attack a monster in the Underground, or so help me, I will kill you." The demon like skeleton then flew off, leaving a bone pierced in the hind leg of the wolf-like beast as well as a bone lodged in its chest. Greyish, black fur began to get soaked by the snow beneath it. The dreaded crimson of the heart spills out of the wounds.
Tiny paws padded towards the bloodied scene, nudging the body that lay limp before it. Whining came from the smaller wolf-like creature as the larger one made no movements. Nudging the body once more, the little beast gave up. The whimpers began to grow louder and louder, but then there was silence. The pup stopped whimper and had forced itself into a silent state of sleep, trying to stay warm by its deceased mother's fur.
Waking up to the loud sound of a branch snapping, the pup flinches awake. Turning around in a pitiful attempt to locate the origins of the sound, the pup begins to get incredibly frightened. The small, growling fur ball began to step forward, looking for the sound once more. "I DON'T MEAN ANY HARM." A loud voice calls out, scaring the poor thing even more.
The angel-like skeleton stepped out of the shadows. A halo floating above his head as well as pure white wings on his back. His attire seems to give off a calming, innocent aura. This calmed the startled pup, though it seemed to still be wary of the newcomer.
"I'm sorry." The skeleton said in a hushed voice. He then realized why the pup was whimpering before. The mother had been murdered by someone.
The bones had long since dissipated into the wind, but the body still lays drenching the snow in the crimson fluid the pup now fears. So young, yet still forced to see such a horrifying sight. Blue, the angelic skeleton, decided to take the pup away from the deceased parental figure and wash up the poor thing.
Carefully scooping up the pup, Blue began to fly slightly. This action scared the pup, but also seemed to intrigue it as well.
Flying towards a snow covered town, the kind skeleton began to slow down even more than before. He then landed with grace and began to slowly walk towards his house. "Let's clean you up, shall we?"
Once he entered the home he could smell the terrible scent of cigarettes that he had become so used to. Swiftly making his way to the kitchen, Blue sets the bloodstained pup into the sink.
The water begins to fill up the sink, soaking the pup in the process. Dish detergent is then squeezed out and begins to coat the disheveled fur. After a short while of being scrubbed clean, the pup is then placed into a towel and dried off.
The wolf-like creature shakes the excess water out of its now fluffy fur and yips. Blue chuckles and picks up the little canine and pets it gently with his other hand. "You're so fluffy!" Blue gushes, nuzzling into the furry fluff ball on his left arm.
As soon as Blue sets the pup down on the couch, he sees his brother, Papyrus, walk down the steps. The pup begins to whimper in fear and moves as far from him as possible. The demon-like skeleton noticed the creature and tilted his head in confusion.
"Blue, why is there a wolf pup on our couch?" Blue was about to respond, but was interrupted by the pup falling off of the couch.
"Oh my stars! Are you alright, little one?" Blue picks up the little pup and cradles it in his arms. The pup just whimpers and whines. The poor thing is scared beyond belief. Papyrus tries to move closer, but the pup flinches violently and scoots as far away from the demon as possible.
Blue and Papyrus notice this. Blue is confused, but Papyrus has a pretty good hunch on why it's acting the way it is. "I think I hurt this little one's Momma. The thing that was lurking around in the woods and attacking people. It was a wolf-like creature, but it was bipedal instead of a quadrupedal."
The pup then turned into a human child with wolf ears and a tail. The transformation was instant, instead of a painful morphing. This is because of the child being born a werewolf, instead of being bitten by one.
The little girl was, luckily, dressed in a long (F/C) dress with black leggings.
"Don't you DARE talk about my Mama like that! She was protecting me from those cruel monsters!" The child growls, her canines prominently showing. "They wanted to take me away from my Mama! She never hurt anyone unless she had to!"
Papyrus' jaw was agape with surprise, but he quickly shut it and regained his composure. "Where is your 'Mama' anyways?"
Tears began to trickle down the cheeks of the little girl. Her face showed the heartbreaking truth that Papyrus feared. "You killed her... You took her away from me... YOU KILLED HER!" The broken screams of the child were soul cracking. Blue hugged the poor child closer to himself, trying to calm her down.
"Is... is that true, Papyrus?" Blue spoke. Papyrus looked down in regret. "Bro, I-" Sans then cut Papyrus off. "You did... You killed this poor girl's mother..." Blue then gently picked up the sleeping little girl and carried her to his room. "Don't come into my room. She will be sleeping there for now on, as will I. I-I don't want you anywhere near her."
Papyrus looked heartbroken. "Bro, I was only trying to protect everyone else. I didn't know that it was protecting a pup!" Blue shook his head. He turned to his brother with a sad, yet forgiving look. "You can apologize tomorrow, but that doesn't mean she'll forgive you as quickly as I did."
Papyrus nodded and went to his room, thinking over what he had just done. He had just murdered a child's mother because she had hurt someone of his species. He didn't even have hard evidence that she had hurt anyone, but she fit the description and looked dangerous.
This sounds quite familiar, but in a more tragic way than many would care to acknowledge.
Once morning came, Blue started cooking breakfast for everyone. The little girl came down the stairs carrying a blanket and wearing a long grey shirt. Blue chuckled at her adorably tired look. "Morning, sleepy head." She looked at him with a tired gaze and then laid on the couch.
"Mwehehe! Would you like some bacon and sausage for breakfast?" Immediately the wolf-child's head popped up with a large smile. "Yes please!" She then sprinted to the kitchen table, ready to eat.
Blue chuckled and placed a plate in front of her. Five strips of crispy bacon and three sausages laid on the plate before her. She smiled and began to dig in, of course thanking him before hand.
Walking down the stairs, Papyrus noticed the blanket laying on the couch and the noise from the kitchen. Casually entering the kitchen, Papyrus feels the tension in the air. He turns to to the girl glaring daggers at him, with a dark shadow over her eyes.
Papyrus turns on his heels and faces the girl. Though he hates having to do this, he gains the nerve to speak. "I'm... I'm sorry for killing your mother. I-I didn't know sh-she was protecting someone. I thought she was doing it out if hate for us monsters." His body began to shake as his head was down.
The girl stood up, barely even up to his rib cage. She then motions him to come down to her level. Looking confused, he complies. He then bends down to be at her level. She then punches him as hard as she could in the face. This action sends Papyrus stumbling backwards. "She didn't hate anyone... SHE DIDN'T HATE ANYONE!"
Falling to the floor, the girl begins to cry her heart out. "She never liked hurting people, no matter who, or what they were. Everyone else thought she was a heartless mongrel... Mama just wanted to be normal again..., BUT YOU TOOK THAT FROM HER!" She then stood on her own two feet and walked towards Papyrus. "YOU KILLED MY MAMA!"
Papyrus woke with a cold sweat. 'Was that really all a dream?' Putting his fingers to the edge of his eye socket, Papyrus felt the familiar liquid. Tears. He was crying in his sleep. This girl really did make him feel bad for her. He hadn't felt much, but for his brother, since he became this... thing.
'I should apologize... I feel like $#!7 for what happened.' Papyrus then stood up and walked towards his brother's room. He then gently knocked.
Sans gently got out of the bed, trying not to wake the little girl, and headed towards the door. "Papyrus? I told you to apologize in the morning. Go to- Papyrus?" Tears were now evident on Papyrus' skull. "L-let me say it now, Bro."
Blue nodded, seeing how broken his brother was over this. Papyrus then walked into the room and towards the sleeping figure. Nudging the figure awake, the girl looks towards Papyrus. She then flinches. "Wh-What do you want?"
Hugging the girl close, feeling horrible, he begins to apologize. "I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to kill her. I didn't mean to take her from you. I was scared that she wanted to hurt everyone else, including my brother, so I wanted to teach her a lesson. I truly didn't mean to kill her!"
The girl sobbed into his shoulder. "I know she was scary to a lot of people... I'm sorry we hurt other people... She didn't want me to get hurt..."
Papyrus held her closer, apologizing over and over again. The little girl then fell asleep with tears streaming down her face, her arms wrapped around Papyrus' neck.
Blue smiled at the sight. His brother was truly sorry for what he had done and had even apologized to a child. "She'll forgive him. Eventually."
(Okie dokie, all done. I hope you enjoyed! See y'all in the next chapter!)
