The royalty of mermaids, as long as they are in my fanfics, will be able to obtain human legs when they go on land.

R/B = Random Beach

~Narrator's P.O.V.~

Walking along the shore of the ocean before him, Abyss finds himself fascinated by the body of water. The what if's and the mysterious unknown buried beneath the blue abyss; it intrigued him. Eventually he started to come back to the water on impulse rather than thinking. One thing always intrigued him more than the water itself, a tail. This tail was very strange. It didn't look anything like a normal fish tail, but it fascinated him.

When he first saw the tail, he was practicing his magic when he noticed a tail splashing out of the water, causing him to lose concentration  and misfire a Gaster Blaster. The next time he saw the tail was yesterday. Instead of being a quick glimpse, he saw the tail glimmering in the water, but wasn't able to see the being connected to it. This peaked his interest and got him thinking, 'Maybe I should investigate this. Find out what this creature is'.

That thought is what lead him back to the sea yet again. His fluffy coat wrapped around himself, looking like he's prepared for the harshest winter in the middle of June. (I know it's not June. (The day I posted this wasn't on June, for future readers.)) "Where should I begin with this? The ocean is so vast and mysterious." He said to himself, looking out in front of him. The waves crashing against the sandy beach, foam bubbles popping as the water retreats to where it belongs.

As Abyss watched the waves coming and going, he never noticed the curious gaze of a young mermaid. The crown gently laying in her hair representing the power and nobility she holds. Her grin showing the exact opposite. She looked like a child in a candy store. Never had she ever seen a skeleton standing on her beach, nor has she heard a land dweller speak. She's always been to afraid of the being who walked on two legs. She had been told be her mother that they were dangerous and killed beauties like her for fun.

The strength of childlike curiosity took the wheel as this young mermaid ruler swam closer to the shore. Hiding behind rocks, or diving into the blue abyss she called home, was how she avoided the skeleton's gaze. She knew he was looking for something, but she didn't have the slightest clue what it could possibly be, or than what her mother had talked about. None of the thoughts passed her mind as she accidentally swam to close to the shore. Her tail being little to no use getting her off the hot beach sand.

Abyss, after shaking his head and getting focused on his task at hand, noticed a young girl laying on the sand, unconscious. Her (H/C) hair was sprawled out everywhere and her only clothes was the bikini she's wearing.

(It can be whatever color you want it to be.)

Running over to the unconscious girl, Abyss started to shake her and check for a pulse. When he found one, he attempted to pick her up, trying to move her away from the water. As he was attempting to lift her, he felt the girl move, most likely waking up.

"Wha- Where am I?" She asked to no one. Abyss laid her back down and looked at her. "You're on (R/B). Not a lot of people come here around this time of year." The girl's attention was immediately on Abyss as he spoke. "What? I thought I was... Never mind." She mumbled to herself.

Abyss seemed very interested in the girl, now that he was able to see her face more clearly. Her skin seemed smooth, like it was shaped by the sea itself. Her body seemed built for swimming, yet he's never seen her here before. "Do you know when you got here?" Abyss asked. The girl shook her head.

"All I remember is swimming and then waking up to you moving me." Abyss nodded. "I'm sorry if that made you uncomfortable. That was not my intention at all." The girl smiled at him. "No, no. It's alright. I think I understand what you were doing. Oh, I have a question to ask." Abyss nodded.

"Have you seen a crown anywhere? I had mine, but it seems I have lost it." Abyss looked confused. "A crown, like a crown for royalty and such?" She nodded. "No, I haven't. Why did you bring one...?" The girl looked at him in a confused manner, but then she shook her head, understanding why he stopped. "My name is (Y/N). The crown was a gift from my mother before she passed. She loved the ocean, so I decided to take it with me here today." Abyss smiled. "That's very sweet of you, (Y/N). I'm sure she's smiling at you from above." (Y/N) smiled. "Thank you. What is your name?"

Abyss blushed. "Oh, I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to be rude. My name is Sans, but everyone calls me Abyss." He said, putting his hand out for her to shake. She shakes it and stands up, falling into Abyss as she does so. "I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to fall into you like that." The fluffy skeleton shook his head. "It's alright. You've only just regained consciousness. I'm not surprised you fell." (Y/N) blushed in embarrassment. "Still."

Both Abyss and (Y/N) began to search the beach for the lost crown, only to find it washed up on the shore nearly ten yards (9 meters) from where (Y/N) washed up on shore. Abyss helped the girl get over to her beloved crown, only for the water to begin crashing on it. She flinched away from the water, knowing what would happen if she got even remotely wet. Abyss then grabbed the crown for her, drying it off with his coat and not the fluff. "Here. It is completely dry and should be the one you are looking for, correct?"

The underwater queen smiled. "Yes! Oh, it is! Thank you so much, Abyss. You have no idea how much this means to me!" She then gave him a hug, holding him tightly as she smiled ear to ear. "You are very welcome. Something this important to someone should never be left, or forgotten. It holds a lot of sentimentality behind it." (Y/N) smiled and nodded. "It holds more than just my mother, but my grandmother, great grandmother, and so on. This has been a family heirloom for as long as my family has existed."

Abyss found this fascinating. "Could you possibly be royalty somewhere in your bloodline?" The girl chuckles. "You probably won't believe me, but yes I am. I'm actually the queen of the mermaids." Abyss' jaw dropped. How could she possibly be a mermaid? She has the legs of a human. How could she be a mermaid? "How? You look entirely human." (Y/N) shrugged.

"It seems to be an ability we royal mermaids are born with. The merman prefer the sea, so they never test their ability, but we mermaids love to explore. That's why I was washed up here, I believe. I think I found you interesting and found myself getting far to close to shore. A wave then crashed on top of me and knocked me out." Abyss was still skeptical with this. These were just a bunch of words spewing from her mouth. How would he know them as fact, unless she shows him?

Looking at the girl before him, her skin shimmering in the light from the sunset behind her, Abyss tried to form a question. His words were becoming jumbled as he began to lose his cool and become embarrassed. 'How do I- What do I do?' (Y/N) noticed his distress and walked over to him. "Would you like me to prove it?" Abyss nodded, hiding shyly in his fluff. (Y/N) smiled and nodded, skipping her way into the water. She quickly dove in as her legs began to merge together.

After a few minutes of searching the water, Abyss noticed the glimmer of a familiar tail. "No." (Y/N)'s head popped out of the water with her tail held high. "See?" She said as she placed the crown gracefully into of her head. "I wasn't trying to lie to you." Abyss smiled. "You look beautiful." (Y/N) smiled. "Thank you."

This was how they met. Abyss would come back and visit this exact beach everyday, or at least three times a week, just to see her. (Y/N) would come and bring him pearls and different beautiful gems from the ocean floor. Eventually Abyss asked the question he'd been scared for months to ask. "Will you go out with me?" (Y/N) smiled, walking onto the beach. "Of course I would. You're the most adorable skeleton I've ever seen." She said, snuggling into the fluffy coat Abyss always wears.

Abyss smiled and hugged her close to himself. "Thank you. You are the most precious gem I could ever find." (Y/N) blushed and buried her face deeper into the fluff. "You're welcome." She said in a muffled voice, trying to hide her embarrassment. "Why are you trying to hide your beauty from me?" This caused her to only hide herself even deeper into the fluff. "I'm not hiding. I'm just investigating the fluff." Abyss and her just laughed as they held each other closer.

It was perfect.

(It has been written! I finished another chapter. I hope this one isn't as crappy as the last one. 😁 Have a great day!)
