TWENTY-ONE
TWENTY-ONE
"They're at the docks?" I asked Liam as we had finally been able to reach one of them as we were entering Beacon Hills. I felt at home.
"Yeah, with hunters. I can hear them. You guys need to get there as soon as possible." Liam grunted says over the phone and I nodded.
"Okay, we're like... five... ten minutes away," I say, looking over at Derek who started to pick up his pace in speed. Stiles had grabbed my hand, squeezing it tightly. I hung up the phone and lean into Stiles.
"Wait, what about my Jeep?" Stiles asked hurriedly, as we went by my street. "My Jeep's there..."
Derek sighed. "Okay, we make this quick, you hear me? We'll drop this car at your house, Stacey, then we grab Stiles' Jeep and I'll run in front of you guys so you guys can have some sense of direction where you're going."
"Sounds good." Stiles agreed before Derek did a quick U-Turn, turning around and in seconds we were at my house, I smiled. I missed this house. Quickly, Derek pulls in and stopped the car, Stiles grabbed his keys as we all dipped out of the car and walked towards Stiles'. I sit in the passneger seat and Stiles' sits in the front.
I smiled when Stiles started up his Jeep, and he quickly backed up, we weren't wasting time. In front of us, as we drove down my street, Derek was running, giving us direction. "Well this is an interesting navigation system," I mutter, Stiles heard and lets out a short laugh as he followed Derek.
I quickly spot the dock but Derek had managed to come behind us as we were speeding towards the man who had a gun in his hand, my eyes wander over to my brother, Scott. Stiles had hit the man with the Jeep, and I'm not even sorry. The window was down and Stiles and I were smirking.
We high five each other.
"Didn't think you're doing this without me, did you?" Stiles asked, raising an eyebrow at Scott who looked speechless.
"Without us?" Derek comes in seconds after, smirking.
I waved my hand from the passenger seat. "Hola bitches!"
Derek then growled, showing his fangs and his blue eyes before going to the teens that had hunting gear, aka guns and bow an arrows.
One by one, the army of hunters were being taken down by the pack. In the distances, I can see Malia fighting, Derek fighting, and maybe... is that Chris? Oh, my god, it's Chris! My eyes widen when I saw Peter Hale himself.
He's everywhere, isn't he?
Eventually, the remaining hunters left quickly, in their black car. Stiles and I were huddled by a stone pillar, I was breathing heavily. "Can't believe that this is what you've been hiding from us. Not a single word." Stiles glared at Scott.
That's when Lydia came into view, rushing in with her high heels and her eyes wide. "Stacey!" She squealed, running over to me and I laughed as we embrace, I missed her the most. "Thank god you're here."
I rolled my eyes and let go of her. "I would've been here a lot sooner if any of you guys told us what was going on!"
"Sorry," she muttered. "We had reasons. We had really good reasons." Before we walked over to Deucalion, ew, he's still alive. Scott had placed a hand on Deucalion, who was sitting down and looked like he was in somewhat shock.
"Gerard..." Deucalion slowly trailed off. "What he fears the most..." he stammered. "He can't beat you." Deucalion meets eyes with my brother who was bend down in front of him. "And he knows it."
And that's when it happened, Deucalion was officially dead. Now, I should be happy that he was dead but now didn't seem like the right time. Deucalion's body freezes, and the air around is silent for a second before Malia spoke up.
"It's really started, hasn't it?" Malia dared to ask the group.
"What's started?" Stiles asked, turning to the group.
"It's an all-out war." Scott pants, standing up. Scott moved forward to me, before hugging me. I was surprised, but he hugs me tight. I hug him too, closing my eyes. I get it, we've never been this apart for so long. I do admit it did feel weird being away from him for so long.
"As much as I enjoy the impromptu family reunion," Peter started, making us come out of the embrace and a small smile set on my lips. "What is Derek doing here?"
Derek crossed his arms. "I found a pack slaughtered in Brazil." Derek started making my eyes widen. "There were two words written in blood on a wall. Beacon Hills."
"Hey, Derek, we literally spent hours together in a car. Why mention this now?" I asked, squinting my eyes at him but he just rolled his eyes, ignoring me.
"You came back for Beacon Hills?" Scott asked, looking over at Derek.
"No. Came back for you." Aw, my heart. That's when Stiles' radio went off the Jeep making the whole pack turn to the Jeep.
"Blood and destruction," Gerard spoke over to the radio, making all off us walk towards the Jeep. "Dreadful objects so familiar." Stiles runs to his Jeep and opens the door. "All pity choked with custom of fell deeds." Scott had climbed in the other side and I had stood next to Stiles, placing a hand on his thigh. "Caesar's spirit, ranging for revenge. With Ate by his side come from hell." Scott had picked up the radio. "Shall in these confines with a monarch's voice." It then went static, I frown in confusion. What the hell? "Do you know the rest, Scott? Do you know your Shakespeare?"
Derek gave a little nod, to say he knows the answer and Scott gave the radio to Derek. "Cry, Havoc, and let slip dogs of war."
"War, indeed." Gerard agreed. I turned my head to see who was behind and Lydia and Peter were, Malia and Derek were standing next to Scott's end. "Welcome back, Derek. You must be feeling rather nostalgic. Are you pleased with the little family reunion I've gathered around you, Scott?"
"Yeah, well, why don't you come and join us and I can thank you in person?" Scott threatened over the speaker.
"I have a few visitors for you, from London." Gerard started. What? Who? "Even someone like Jackson Whittemore." I clenched my jaw. "Couldn't resist coming back to Beacon Hills." Scott looked at Lydia, Stiles, and I. All the memories start flowing in, I looked at Lydia to see her reaction, she had tears swimming in her eyes. "Say hello, Jackson." I heard screaming over the speaker and some electricity crackling. They're torturing him. Lydia looked away, and I chewed on my lower lip. I grabbed onto Lydia's hand and gave it a comforting squeeze.
"Do it again, old man. Come a little closer." I hear Jackson, a voice I hadn't heard in a long time. "I'm gonna shove that thing so far up your ass..."
"Lost none of his charms, has he?" Gerard chuckled over the speaker. "You can find him here with us at the Armory, Scott. In fact, I'm going to tell you where to find all of them. Your deputy hellhound met some friends while responding to a call in Eichen House. Your father was on his way back from San Fransisco with the goal of entering a fight."
"Dad?" I whisper, my breath suddenly hitched. I could feel myself tearing up. Oh, my God.
"But he didn't get far." Gerard continued. "You might want to tell your mother to skip her shift at the hospital tonight. Liam and his friends are there now. Optimistic of them, but woefully ill-advised. This is how you wage war, Scott. Strategic positioning of your army agaisnt theirs. Which is why you will come to me. You will try to save as many as you can. And you might save a few. But your limit resources will spread thin. Ultimately you will fail. The dogs of war, they're coming for you..."
My stomach flipped at the mention of my mum being possibly hurt. That bitch is going down.

I quickly flip the sign over in the Beacon Hills animal clinic. I cringed when my phone went off, I quickly checked to see who was calling me and it was Anna. What did they want at a time like this?
Sighing, I answered.
"Hello?" I asked quietly.
"Stacey!" Anna happily said over the phone. "I miss you. And when I mean I miss you. I really miss you. Georgia can be super annoying as you can imagine."
"Yeah, we know how she gets." I scoffed, thinking of Georgia. I cringe a little. "Um, I miss you too."
"It's not the same without you," Rachel whined on the other end. "Georgia's on her period. I might as well be in hell already!"
I cringed again. Do girls really have to announce that they're on their period? I like to keep mine private, thanks. I pressed my lips together, annoyed. "Hey, guys, I really have to go, like now..."
"Oh, is it your brother? Is Scott alright?" Rachel asked kindly over the phone.
"No," I simply said. "He's vomiting now and the nurses are rushing to him... um, I have to go, now's really not the time."
"It's okay, call us later, okay?" Anna asked. "Tell your brother to get well from us!"
"Will do!" I said in a fake enthusiastic tone before hanging up and sighing, running a hand through my hair.
That's when Lydia comes in. "Replacing me already?" Lydia asked, raising an eyebrow.
I scoffed. "No, no one can ever replace you."
"That's what I thought." Lydia grinned. "But seriously, we're waiting for you. Come on." So, we enter the clinic and everyone was there. Derek, Lydia, Malia, Stiles, and Scott.
Stiles was about to explain a story. "So literally day one, and up comes this slide about a guy they've been chasing in the woods in North Carolina." I glanced over at Derek.
"I thought you said you were in South America," I recall.
"I was." Derek started. "The bodies of the werewolves I told you about? They blamed me." My phone chimes and I ignored it but Scott looked at me.
"You wanna get that?" Scott asked, his brown eyes boring into my own brown eyes.
"No," I say. "No one important."
"So I learn that the FBI has cornered this fail mass-murdering unsub..." Stiles was cut off by Derek.
"I found a group of hunters gathering in a meeting place. I was trying to get information." Derek quickly defended with his arms crossed.
"Well, the FBI found out about it too and they were planning a SWAT assault to take him down. Dead or alive." Stiles says and I moved next to him. "And, as we all know, though, with Derek, it is preferably dead."
"Preferably," Derek repeats, rolling his eyes.
"So I convinced them to take me on the Field Op." Stiles continued.
"You convinced the FBI to bring an intern onto an extremely dangerous field operation?" Lydia him in disbelief, turning to him.
"I'm surprised he didn't convince them to lead it," I remark, Stiles smiled sarcastically at me.
"I tried it didn't work." Stiles sighed. "Anyway, long story short, I basically, you know, had to save his life."
"That's not how it happened." Derek sternly said, glaring at Stiles.
"Yeah. I may have left out a detail, but that's the gist of what happened." I snort at Stiles' remark. "It was the essential essence of it."
"You couldn't walk." Derek recalled, making my lips tug into a small smile.
"I was limping." Stiles defended.
"You couldn't walk and I know that because I was carrying you." Derek continued to argue his way and a fit of giggles was let out from me and I lean on Stiles.
"They shot my toe. Do you want to see it?" Stiles defended. Everyone was smiling. "My toe was caught in the crossfire. It was obliterated."
"Okay, forget your toe." Lydia rolled her eyes. Stiles huffed before wrapping his arms around me.
"Obliterated," Stiles repeated, frowning at everyone.
"Mhmm." I hummed.
"Guys, it's not just the hunters." Scott started. "We've got another problem."
Oh, great.
"It's called the Anuk-lte." Lydia explained.
"It can get in your head. It can make you see things." Scott explained further, flickering his eyes between Stiles, Derek, and I.
"What does it look like?" Stiles asked.
"It used to look like two ordinary people," Lydia answered. "But somehow they merged. All we know is that it's made for two faces. One human. The other supernatural."
"And it's a shapeshifter, just like us." Scott added. "But it knows what you're afraid of. What you fear the most."
"And now it can kill you just by looking at you." Malia built on.
"Okay, so you're telling me we gotta go up against this thing blind?" Stiles quizzed, frowning. "And face our deepest fear?"
"Yeah. Why, what do you fear the most?" Scott questioned his best friend.
"Blindness," Stiles stated.
"Becoming blind?" Derek asked.
"Yeah, terrified of it. Always have been." I felt his hug tighten. "This just seems to be a situation of unfortunate overlap."
"Stacey," Scott looked at me. "You, Lydia, and Stiles need to find Argent, get to the Armory, recuse Jackson."
"I don't think we have time to wait for him." Lydia said. "I've gotten through those doors once, anyways. I can do it again." She glanced over at me. "With Stacey's help."
"Can we slow it down just for one second, make sure I'm grasping this?" Stiles questioned us. "So we're actually talking about doing this? We're going to do exactly what Gerard wants us to? Is that right?"
"I think that if we stop the Aunk-lte, we stop it all." Scott went further.
"Stopping this thing can stop Gerard and the hunters?" Derek basically repeated.
"Not all of them are hunters." Scott shakes his head.
"He's right." Lydia agreed. "Most of them are ordinary people acting out of fear."
Scott sighed. "Monroe's not gonna change. But I think we can reach the others. Most of them, actually."
"The Aunk-lte is causing them to come from a place of fear," Lydia stated.
"Well, fear's pretty motivating," Derek commented from aside. "Especially when it leads to danger."
"And I think that if we can take out fear, we can take out the fight in them too," Scott explained. "They're afraid of us, but they don't have to be. They just have to change their minds."
"Well, we have to change their minds," Derek said.
"Okay, we can face the Anuk-lte." Malia started, popping in for once. "We can try to fight it blindly. We can try to face our fears. But we still need to know how to catch it."
Scott looked at Malia. "We will figure that out. We always do." Scott told her.
"Oh, it's nice to see somebody hasn't lost their optimism." Derek remarks.
Scott shakes his head at him. "Not yet."
"I have," Stiles says behind me.
"We will buy you time, Scott." I say, looking at him. "Who knows? Maybe Jackson has the answer."
"Maybe Argent will come back with one." Malia adds.
"You two, you're with me, and we need Peter." Scott said to Malia and Derek. Derek nodded faintly. "Anyone who can help stop this thing or slow it down."
"Where we headed?" Malia asked Scott.
"The high school." Scott nodded.
"That's where we're gonna find the thing?" Derek asked, he wanted to scoff, I can tell. But he didn't.
"No," Scott shakes his head. "It'll find us."
