NINE

I wash my hands in the girls' locker room. I look down in the sink, I can't believe I talked to Stiles. The person that I've been trying to find, contacted us. Slowly, I look up in the mirror and gasped when I saw a pale blonde women staring back at me.

I take a step back and shook my head. I'm just seeing things. What the hell was in the mirror? Curious, I stretch out my hand and touch the mirror, and suddenly, I was pulled into another town.

I was no longer in the girls' locker room. I turn around on the street of this strange neighborhood. I turned back around and there were the women, I recognized her hair walking quickly down the street.

I looked around the neighborhood, it was quite old must I say. I pressed my lips together in a thin line and continued to walk down the road. I was following that lady that I saw in the mirror, I recognized her hair.

"Hello?" I call, but I have one question, why the hell am I here? I guess that's partly why I'm chasing after this random women. "Wait!" I call as I enter some fair, I was sprinting now, but I gave up when the women disappeared into the crowd.

There was old classical music playing, as I entered the fair. I noticed a banner that said Neighborhood Block Party, Canaan Day, Saturday at 4pm. Canaan, that's where Stiles sent us. I looked around at the games that people were playing. This is so strange.

I looked at the horse carnival ride, damn, I've always wanted to go on one of them. Why does this life seem so much better than my own life? The pony roundabout thing went round and round with children on it.

I looked at a particular black horse that had blood dripping down it's main. Suddenly everything felt like it was going in slow motion, everything was slowing down and the clouds were suddenly pitch black.

And everything felt like it was black and white.

I felt the wind picking up fast, I looked to the right to see a man running out from his own house looking terrified making me frown. Then, he disappeared in thin air with a cloud of blue smoke. I watch in shock as everyone was now screaming in fear, and people were disappearing in thin air.

It made no sense.

Then it hit me, the Ghost Riders were here. I watched in horror as people tried to escape on their skating boards, but in a few seconds, they were gone. I closed my eyes, wanting this nightmare to stop. I then opened my eyes quickly, as the silences consumed me.

I noticed that the lady I saw in the mirror was still here, looking horrified and confused. I walked over to her without her noticing me. I stopped when I hear her gasping and the thunderstorm above us was booming. She had her hands placed on her head, she didn't even notice me because I was standing behind her.

"It's not real!" The women screech's out. "Not real!" She continues. "It's not real!" She kept crying out and I walked over to her slowly, and soon I was next to her, concerned. I placed my hand on her shoulder and she quickly turned her head to me in shock. That's when the craziest thing happened, the women's face kept flickering back and forward into a young and old lady, making me let out a huge scream.

"You saw a carousel?" Malia asked as Malia and I sit in the school's library the next day. I was explaining my situation that happened last night. I couldn't sleep.

"And a big sign that said, Canaan." I inform her. "And people disappear in clouds of smoke."

"Do you ever have nice dreams?" Malia asks, turning her head from her laptop to me.

I chose to her ignore her. "We need to go to Canaan," I tell her.

She closed her laptop. "It will be helpful if we knew anything about that place," Malia says. "I keep calling the number for City Hall, and no answers. The only map I can find it on is 30 years old." She unfolds the map that was placed on the table, it did look pretty old. I lean forward. "So far the only thing I know about Canaan is where it is." I pressed my lips together and looked down at Malia. "That's all we need to know."

I stare at my sleeping brother who was curled up in the back seat of Lydia's car in awe, Malia was sitting in the back with him. I smiled softly. "Wake him up," Lydia told me.

"But he's so-"

"Stacey," Lydia raised me an eyebrow and I pout.

"Okay, fine." I lean over and I tapped him a few times, before giving him a shove. He woke up, inhaling and exhaling before looking at me in confusion.

"Where are we?" Scott mumbled.

"According to the GPS, this is it." I tell him, he then sat up I climbed out of the car. I lick my dry lips and looked around the place. It was exactly like the vision... or dream. It definitely looked abandoned that's for sure. All the cars were left here, all the houses were still pretty good. "This is it." I tell them, feeling the air temperature change.

"Canaan's a ghost town." Lydia stated.

We soon walk along the road, it didn't look like anyone lived here. "I don't hear a single heartbeat." My brother informed us.

"I'm not catching any scent." Malia states.

"I wonder why Stiles would send us here." Scott says the trees around us looks pretty dead. Then from the corner of my eye, I watch a lamp flicker with energy, making us all stop and look at it.

We shrugged it off and continued to walk down the road. The fences were trashed and ripped apart, there was only one single crow that kept making crow sounds. That's when we stopped underneath the Canaan banner that I saw in my dream/vision.

"This is the place I saw in the mirror." I tell them, looking up at the ripped Canaan banner. Malia and Scott decided to wander off and looking around some houses, while I stared up at the banner.

That's when I hear a metal squeak and Lydia and I looked at each other before our eyes wander over to the pony roundabout, and we started to walk quickly toward sit much like Malia and Scott.

As soon as Scott tried to step on the pony ride, the roundabout started to go round and round as if it was working. If that isn't the creepiest thing I've seen in my entire life, then I don't know what is. Actually, I've seen worse. Considering I live in Beacon Hills.

It started to play the creepiest music as well, Scott and I looked at each other, my eyes widen and my heart beat was rising by the second.

After a while of being here, I got a really creepy vibe to this place. Everyone had gone off to do their own thing, looking for anything. I was standing in the middle of the road and that's when I hear a laugh. Or, a giggle however.

My head whips over to the sound, there was no one there. I hear the same giggle and I turned around again, still nothing. Okay, someone better tell what the hell is going on. I frown, hearing the same giggle. It sounded so familiar.

I turned around one last time and I felt my heartbeat drop when I saw Allison standing there. There was quite a distance between us, she had her bow and arrow pointed right at my head, with Lydia standing next to her, Lydia was smirking.

"Okay, now you aim and you shoot." Lydia instructs Allison, as if she doesn't know what Allison's doing. Allison's a professional hunter, of course, she knows what she's doing.

"Allison?" I whisper, horror in my voice.

Allison laughed. "I know what I'm doing, Lyds, don't worry," Allison tells Lydia. Allison's face then fell into a serious and concentrated face, as she pulls back the arrow.

"Allison!" I yell, my eyes widening, realizing what Allison was going to do it. She was going to kill me. "Allison, stop," I murmur, my eyes looking down at the realistic Allison. Wait, Allison's dead. She draws back the arrow, smirking. She then releases the arrow, and it sores through the air. "Allison!" This time, I don't have Isaac to save me.

"Stacey!" I snap my head towards my brother who was looking worried, who approached me. My breath trembles, I just saw Allison. "Stacey, you're okay,"

"I-" I paused, there was nothing much to say.

"It's okay, Allison isn't here," he told me softly and standing behind him was Malia and Lydia. I ran a hand through my hair. I nodded my head and he pulled me into a quick hug, seeing that I was stress. He rubs my back a few times. "It's okay,"

"I saw her," I tell him softly. "And Lydia... It felt like we were in the woods watching Allison pull back the arrows. Do you remember when I told you about Isaac saving me from Allison shooting me in the head?" I watch him nod. "It felt like that, only, Isaac wasn't there to save me this time."

"It wasn't real." Scott tells me. "Well, right now it wasn't real."

"Yeah, but it felt real." I felt my voice quiver.

"The energy here, it's causing hallucinations," Lydia informs me. "We can't stay here."

"We can't leave, not until we've figured out why Stiles sent us here," Scott argued back. He turned around so now that they were facing each other, Malia and Lydia were facing me and Scott oppositely.

"Who are we going to ask? There's no one here!" Lydia pointed out.

"We can ask him." Malia points someone behind me and Scott, we both turned around and saw that there was a little boy standing outside in his lawn. Or, outside his house. He was even looking at us.

"Hey!" Scott called, causing the boy to turn around in surprise, before running off and down into the street.

"What do we do?" I whisper.

"Go after him!" Scott answers and that's when the four of us books it down the road after the little boy.

We looked down the houses, we had lost the little boy. God damn it. I looked closely at the houses until one of them with curtains moved, making all of us stop. My full attention was at the curtain, much like everyone else's.

Scott turned his head to me, and we quickly made eye contact. I don't know why, but whenever Scott sees something weird or someone says something, we both make eye contact to confirm. It's really weird, but we've been doing that a lot lately, we used to do that a lot when we were little, it was like communicating with our minds.

Scott grabbed my hand for support and drags me over with him. Lydia and Malia followed us. We approached the door and Scott squeezed my hand for comfort, I squeezed back letting him know I won't leave his side.

I love my brother.

Scott then opened the door slowly, it creeks. I hate the sound of creaking doors, it makes me cringe. Closely behind, we enter a small living room. Huh, it's actually kind of nice. Lydia did the nice thing and knocked on the door slightly. "Hello?" She calls.

Lydia got no reply back. "Anybody here?" I tried this time, before chewing on my lower lip. My eyes travel across the room to see a lady standing there, I blink a few times but the lady didn't disappear. This is real.

The lady looked just as shock as I was. "Visitors?" The lady asks, surprise written all over her face. "I can't believe we have visitors!" She was grinning as she walked her way towards us, protectively, Scott made me stand behind him. "Oh, Caleb would be so happy to see you. It's been such a long time since he's had someone to play with. Oh, you must be thirsty, come on in and have a seat while I get you something to drink."

She then rushed off to the kitchen, Scott and I looked at each other. "Okay..." I mumble, this whole thing seemed off. But the one thing I knew, she was the women in the mirror.

"Seriously? What is with her?" Malia whispered to us as we walked down the hallway.

"She was the women in the mirror." I softly explain to them. We walked over to the table, Scott and I sat beside each other with Lydia and Malia on the other side of the circled table.

"This was my mother's lemonade recipe," Lenore informs us, she informed us that her name is Lenore, and she sets down the tray of glasses onto the table in front of us. She chuckles. "At least as much as I can remember. We always served this when we had friends to visit." I picked up the glass, it kind of looked good. As I pressed my lips to the glass ready to take a sip, Scott quickly grabbed my hand and pulled the glass away from me, setting it back down.

Lenore gave Scott a weird look before he smiled. "Sorry, she's allergic to lemons." Scott excused for his action, Lenore nodded, I gave Scott an odd look before his head nodded down towards the glass, I trailed my eyes down to the glass and there were some green things in there.

Oh. That green stuff could be anything. I glanced at Malia who had downed that drink within seconds. Malia puts the glass down once she was finished, Lenore had sat down on the fifth chair that was in between Malia and I. "We didn't come to visit." Malia stated. "We're looking for someone."

"A friend of ours," Scott added, leaning forward. "Maybe you've seen him. His name is Stiles?" The lady pressed her lips together, thinking.

"It's been a while since anyone came through Canaan," Lenore tells us making me frown. Then why the hell would Stiles send us here?

"How long?" Lydia asked, glancing at the women.

Malia then gets something out of her pocket. Lenore smile had faded. "Since April 8th, 1987?" Malia hands her an old piece of paper.

Lenore smile dropped instantly, her face turning into all seriousness. "Why would you disturb those things? They don't belong to you." Lenore snaps, oh damn, she has an attitude.

"We need to know what happened." Scott calmly said.

Lenore turned her head slowly and sharply towards Scott. "There was a picnic. A community party," Lenore explained. Now, this sounded awfully familiar.

"It seemed like everyone left in a hurry," Malia stated.

"People have been leaving Canaan for a long time." The lady sassed. "That's the day the last of them left."

"All at once? They disappeared?" Scott asked, cocking his head slightly.

"I didn't say they disappeared." Lenore snaps, her voice filled with venom. "I said they left." That made the table shake, making my eyes widen.

"Did they leave in a cloud of green smoke?" Malia continued to ask.

"They just left!" Lenore screams out, standing up, I pressed my lips together.

"We didn't mean to upset you," I tell her softly. "We'll go now." I nodded towards the others' to single them to go, and I got up and walked back Scott who was still sitting down. He then got up and left after me.

We quickly rushed towards the door, but as soon as we gained near it, it slammed shut making me jump. We all turned around to see the women standing there. "No one is leaving." Lenore glared. "No one is leaving Canaan ever again."

Scott had quickly tried to open the door by using his werewolf strength but no even that was budging it open. "Scott, open the door, you're a werewolf," I said through my teeth, standing near him.

"I'm trying." Scott argued back, Malia had walked over to the windows, and tried breaking the window with her fist. But it didn't even shatter. Lydia and I glanced at each other. Malia looked at Lenore after a few tries of hitting the glass window.

"What the hell is wrong with this place?" Malia asked, turning to us.

"Lenore? Could you unlock the door, please?" I asked politely, standing in front of my friends.

"Now that you're here, you need to stay," Lenore tells us. "Caleb likes you."

I then walked over to Lenore, trying to talk her into letting us out. I smiled sweetly. "And we like him. But we need to help our town." I tell her softly, turning her into the kitchen. "People are disappearing, uh, leaving, I mean leaving. You could really help us."

"No one can help you." Lenore snapped. "If they want to leave, they're going to leave. They'll go, and they'll go, and there won't be anything you can do about it." Lenore then walked passed me and Lydia walked over to me, and we made eye contact.

"Go," Lydia told Scott and Malia who was standing nearby, I think Caleb told them to follow him or something like that. Malia and Scott then walked off, following Caleb. I then trailed my eyes back to Lenore who was cleaning up the lemonade we had left behind. "Why didn't you leave too?"

"What is that suppose to mean?" Lenore asked. "Is that an accusation? Are you accusing me of something?" No! God, women, we're trying to get answers. She needs to take a chill pill.

Lydia and I stand a few feet away from Lenore in her living room. We were keeping our distance. "How come you're the only one left?" I asked, curling my hands up into a ball. "Did you hide? Did you fight them?"

"Fight who? What are you talking about?" Lenore asked, her eyes slightly widen and confused.

"They're called the Ghost Riders," Lydia explained. Something changed in Lenore's face when she said that. "They took everyone from Canaan. Why did they leave you?"

"I don't know!" Lenore cried out in confusion. "They took everyone. But they didn't take... me!" She lets out a scream, making me and Lydia fly back in the wall and I let out a gasp. She's a banshee.

Lydia looked up from the ground in surprise, much as I did as well. "You're a banshee." I breathe.

"It's not my fault they didn't take me." Lenore stresses.

"I know why the didn't..." Lydia trailed off as she walked over to Lenore, in a few seconds I did too.

"You think I helped them because they brought back my dead son?" Lenore snapped.

"What did you say?" I breathe, my lips parting. She then was about to let out a big scream but Lydia and I were quick to react and we both scream just as loud, our sonic screams overpowering Lenore's.

That's when suddenly Lydia and I were both in the Canaan, outside again. Lydia was finally seeing what I had been seeing in the mirror. The thunderstorm, the people disappearing, the pony roundabout, the people skating away in fear. It was all coming back. But this time, I saw the Ghost Rider. He had shot the man running away from his home.

I can see the men riding on the horse and taking people. It was them, the Ghost Riders took everyone but Lenore, who was a banshee. Then it hit me, maybe Stiles sent us here because Beacon Hills was the next Ghost town. Because all the Ghost Riders are coming back for Beacon Hills this time. This was the next stop.

I watched as there were at least four Ghost Riders surrounding Lenore, one all with guns and Lenore was looking frightened. She didn't know what to do. The Ghost Rider had moved his face right up close to Lenore's like he was examining her.

Then, with a lightning strike, the Ghost Riders were gone. That's when I walked over to her with Lydia this time, this was definitely Deja vu. Expect this time, I could see the horses and Ghost Riders with Lydia. I placed a hand on Lenore's shoulder and suddenly I was screaming again, my hands placed on the side of my head much like what Lydia and Lenore were doing.

And now, we were back in reality. I let out a gulp. "You didn't know what was happening, did you?" I asked. "You only saw them at the very end."

"They were all around me." Lenore explained sadly. "But they didn't take me."

"It's because you're a Banshee." Lydia reasoned. "Just like me and Stacey." Lydia and I gave each other quick glances.

Lenore walked past us, and towards the door. We turned our heads and saw she had wiped her dirty mirror on the other side of the room. "How long has it been?" Lenore asked softly.

"Almost 30 years." Lydia tells her.

"You two won't be taken." Lenore informs us as Lydia and I know were standing near Lenore. "You'll be safe."

"I don't want to be safe," I tell her. "I want to save Stiles." I then turn her around with one hand so that she is facing us. "Don't let us be the only ones left behind. We don't have a Caleb."

"Go." She suddenly said, suddenly the door opened with one hand movement from her. I felt tears swimming in my eyes, waiting to come out. I couldn't be happier. Lydia and I grab each other's hand and we walked out, I've never been happier to feel fresh air.

I breathe in deeply, as we wait for Scott and Malia. "Let's get out of here," Scott tells us as soon as he exited the building with Malia.

"Yeah, absolutely," Malia agreed. I then stopped and turned around, I actually feel bad for this women. Lenore and Caleb then both walked out and I hear Malia, Scott, and Lydia stop behind me.

"You know you can still come with us." I tell Lenore, biting on my lower lip.

"I couldn't leave Caleb," Lenore tells me softly.

"Lenore, you know he's not real." I remind her.

Lenore glanced down at her son. "I couldn't leave Caleb." Lenore repeats. I gave her a soft smile, before I turned around and walked towards Scott who looped and arm around my shoulder, comforting me.

Later, Lydia and Malia were in the front with Malia driving, Scott and I were in the back, looking out the window. It was silent until I spoke. "You guys think that Stiles sent us here to warn us?" I asked. "Maybe Beacon Hills is gonna be the next Ghost town."

"If we don't stop it, yes," Malia says. "We need to get them to leave. Now."

"We can't," I said. "Not yet."

"Why can't we get rid of them?" Scott asked me.

"Because I saw what happens to the people they've taken when they leave," I tell him.

"Do they all die?" Malia asked.

"No. It's something worse than death." I exhale. "I felt it in Lenore's memory. It's like their souls were hollowed out. They became something else. I think they became Ghost Riders. And then, they were gone."

After many hours of driving, we finally pull up to my house. Scott and I talked as we entered our home. "How are we gonna save Stiles if no one knows how?" Scott asked, sighing.

"I mean, I guess-" I paused when we entered our kitchen. Theo was in my kitchen. My hands pulled up into a fist in anger.

"Somehow, I don't think we're gonna hug this out." Theo comments. I could see the blood boiling in Scott's veins, I gave Theo a cold hard stare. I have one fucking question, HOW IS THEO STILL ALIVE!? WE BURIED HIM IN A FUCKING HOLE!

"I hope you realize it's taking all of my strength to nor tear you apart right now." Scott seethed, I've never seen him this angry towards someone... ever. I'm pretty angry that Theo's alive, but Scott's raging inside. That's when Malia stepped inside.

She lets out a snarl. "Hey, Malia. You aren't still upset about the whole shooting thing, are you?" Theo asked sheepishly.

That's when Malia shined her bright her blue eyes, she lets out a giant roar, and she attacked.
