Chapter 64
When Harry woke up the next morning, it was to a tapping sound at Draco's window. Untangling himself from his grumpy Draco, he was surprised to see Scarhead Jr with a letter for him. Unrolling the parchment, there were actually two, the first being from Kreacher explaining that the second letter from McGonagall was marked as important so he sent it along.
As he was looking through everything, Scarhead made himself comfortable by landing next to Draco and cuddling with him.
"At least one Scarhead likes to cuddle in the mornings", he muttered, ruffling Scarhead's feathers. "How are you doing little buddy?"
"Sorry Prince, Kreacher sent him with a letter from McGonagall that's marked as important."
"I wonder if I got one too? Let me check."
Before he could get up, Scarhead Jr hooted and flew towards the door. Waving his hand, Harry opened it, and Scarhead flew out. He returned a few moments letter with a letter for Draco as well.
"You deserve an extra treat for that one", Draco cooed.
If an owl could look proud, this one sure did.
"He's absolutely precious Draco."
"I have good taste in men, what can I say?"
Scarhead Jr hooted in agreement and went to eat his treats. Harry sat on the bed next to Draco so that they could open their letters together. After taking a deep breath, because anything marked as important probably wasn't good, they opened their letters to find the exact same thing, verbatim except for their names.
"Dear Mr. Malfoy,
As per our discussed arrangement, I'm inviting both you and Mr. Potter to Hogwarts early for a week. If you choose to accept, it would be from the 22nd of August to the 28th. While I prefer the both of you decide to go to become accustomed to your living arrangements, the invitation stands either way. I know it isn't easy being back due to your past, so this is another reason why I am putting forth an invitation.
If you're worried about shopping for school supplies, I can either accompany you or acquire everything for you both. This is the first item of business you'll both have to discuss as you must agree. You two will be working as a unit. You seemed to have gotten along well at our last meeting, so I do hope you keep it up.
I hate to say this to you, but the future of Hogwarts depends on this year going well. If the two of you can put aside your differences, I have hope that everyone else can too.
Your room can be altered to your liking, which we will discuss once you return. I would also like your opinion on the rooming situation of the rest of our 8th years. This will also be discussed in person. I'm sorry that once again there is a lot riding on the both of you. I wouldn't ask this of you if I wasn't sure you could handle it.
Remember that you can come to me with any and all issues. Please write back with your answers as soon as you read this so I can make the necessary preparations.
Take care,
Minerva McGonagall"
Once Draco finished reading the letter aloud, he turned to look at Harry.
"Yes."
Draco grinned at the thought of actually getting to live with Harry.
"We have a week left of our summer then. We'll have to make the most of it."
Harry nodded in agreement.
"What's wrong?"
"I'm just going to miss being able to kiss you all of the time."
"That's what the invisibility cloak is for my darling. We can get up to all kinds of mischief you know", Draco teased, eyes shining and a wide grin on his face.
"I can think of some I'd like to get into right now", Harry murmured, looking down at Draco's lips.
Once the magic of the cleaning spell hit them both, Draco straddled Harry and kissed him like it would be their last.
When they finally pulled away for air, Harry's glasses were crooked and foggy.
"Are you okay?", he asked, panting.
"I just love the idea of living with you", Draco answered honestly.
"Have you learned those advanced locking charms yet?"
"I have. I'll teach them to you later. We should write back McGonagall."
"Ugh, I need to head back and send her reply through the floo."
"You're bringing Scarhead Jr to Hogwarts, aren't you?"
"Of course I am."
"Just send your reply with him then. She'll find out eventually. Send yours first, I'll wait a bit before I send mine so that it doesn't look suspicious that our owls arrive at the same time."
Nodding, Harry did just that.
"Fancy some breakfast?", Harry asked.
"Can we sleep for a little bit more please?", Draco asked, stifling a yawn.
"An even better option."
They did just that, not even waking when Narcissa opened Draco's door to check on him. She noticed Draco's letter to McGonagall on the desk. Noting to ask him if it was anything to be concerned with, she went to tell her house elf to set another plate for breakfast.
Once Draco awoke, it was his turn to leave Harry and send off his reply. They had slept for another hour, and Draco felt as if he was in dire need of a shower. Tucking Harry back into bed, he did just that.
When he emerged half an hour later to do his hair, Harry was sat up in his bed, skimming through a book.
"Trying to get ahead of me in our studies now Potter?", he teased.
"As if. My potion making skills will never reach your level. I was just staying occupied while you were gone, but you got out quicker than I thought you would have."
"I couldn't leave you waiting for me could !? I also didn't do my hair yet."
Instead of reading the book any longer, Harry just watched Draco do his hair. Draco couldn't help but smile at the attention that he was receiving. He made eye contact with Harry through the mirror, and Harry winked at him. Draco was happy to see that Harry was in a better mood now.
"Ready for breakfast Scarhead?", he asked once he was satisfied with his hair.
"I am", Harry agreed, accepting the hand Draco had offered him.
Walking down the stairs hand in hand, Draco quickly dropped Harry's hand when he saw his mother sitting at the table.
"Good morning Mother", Draco greeted.
"Good morning Draco, Harry."
"Hello Narcissa", Harry greeted, sitting across from Draco.
"You two looked comfy this morning", Narcissa commented, eyes flitting between the two men.
"I couldn't sleep last night. I popped by around 3am, I'm sorry for the disturbance."
"You're never a disturbance Harry, that's nonsense. I'm just glad the floo system works well between both of your homes. I was wondering when you would try it out. I'm sorry that you were having a rough night though. Would you like to talk about it?"
Her question took both Draco and Harry by surprise.
"Oh, erm, I just have my birthday dinner with the Weasleys today, but Ron and Hermione bailed out. I've been meaning to talk with them for months in person, but it hasn't happened."
"About your relationship with my son."
Draco was a tad taken aback by the bluntness of her statement, but Harry didn't even flinch.
"Yes."
"I trust you will not hurt my son?"
"Never. They'll have to accept it or lose me because I'm not losing Draco", Harry said fiercely.
"I thought not. I'm confident in your ability to take care of my son. I also saw McGonagall sent you a letter Draco?"
"Yes, she sent letters to both Harry and I asking if we wanted to move into our shared dorm next week and help her get things ready for the rest of the 8 years."
"I presume you accepted?"
"We did. We move in the 22nd of August and stay until the 28th. I guess we come back the 29th, 30th, and 31st then can take the Hogwarts Express on September 1st."
"You should have all of your friends come over on the night before for dinner. I think it would be nice."
"Harry?", Draco asked.
"That would be really nice."
"Maybe you can have one of your sleepovers from the 30th to the 31st instead? That will give everyone time to make sure they're packed the night before."
"That sounds like a great idea Mother, thank you. I'll get in touch with everyone after my meeting."
They ate with minimal small talk, and then Draco and Harry watched a movie before Harry had to go back home to get ready.
"Come see me as soon as you get back."
"Of course I will. Have a good meeting", Harry said, pulling Draco in for a kiss.
"It'll be okay. If you need an excuse to leave, sneak me a note through their floo. I'm very good at being a distraction."
"Damn right you are. I'll be thinking of you in those pants all night", Harry agreed with a grin.
"Go take a shower you git! You smell."
"Fine, fine. Goodbye."
Harry went to his room to use the floo when he was tackled to the ground.
"Malfoy!"
"Potter", challenged Draco, straddling Harry's hips.
"You just told me to leave, and now you have put us in a very compromising position."
Looking down, Draco blushed profusely at how vulnerable Harry was for him. Reaching down, Draco removed Harry's glasses.
"You've never looked better", Harry said sarcastically.
Leaning down, Draco was centimeters from Harry's face.
"How about now?", he asked breathlessly.
"Let me show you my favorite view", Harry whispered back, connecting their lips.
The kiss started off slow, but progressively picked up speed. When Draco started rolling his hips, Harry gently pushed him back.
"You have a meeting and I have a family dinner. This is not the best thing to do before either of those."
"If I'm moving too fast please tell me to back off", Draco panicked, moving to get off of Harry.
Holding Draco's hips in place, Harry managed to get up while still keeping Draco wrapped around him.
"It may be a bit fast for me", Harry admitted honestly, "but I don't want the first time we do something like this to be a quick thing on the floor. I want us to take our time. But Salazar, do you know how to roll your hips."
"I've never really done anything like this before", Draco admitted, "but you make me feel comfortable. We'll take it as slow as you want."
Smiling, Harry lovingly brushed Draco's hair off of his face.
"Why did you tackle me anyways?"
"Hmm? Oh! You didn't kiss me goodbye", Draco pouted.
"I thought I smelled bad?", Harry asked with a snort.
"You do, but I can tolerate it when you have something I want."
Laughing, Harry ran his thumb over Draco's lip. It was obvious they had been snogging, and Draco looked stunning with his wide eyes and puffed up lips.
"My beautiful boy", he whispered adoringly.
"You should go before Mother sees you. I don't know how to explain it if she catches us like this."
Allowing Draco to first get up and then help him, Harry smirked.
"It really is quite simple, my Prince. You were giving me CPR because you took my breath away, so you were just returning it."
Harry kissed a stunned and blushing Draco goodbye once more before using the floo to head back home. Once Harry was gone, Draco laid down on his bed wondering how he could have been so lucky to have Harry. In his own bedroom at his home, Harry was doing the exact same thing.
{A/N: hello friends, it's been a bit since I've written one of these. First, I'd like to apologize to my non-American readers for updating at times that are no longer convenient for you. I have an extremely busy schedule and it's a wonder that I have yet to miss an update day.
I don't know exactly when this book will end but my guess is around Chapter 70 with how things are going. There will be a sequel with them returning to Hogwarts for year 8, but once this book is over I'm going to be taking a well deserved break and trying to get all of my ideas and everything together (including the Epilogue for Piece of Your Heart don't worry I haven't forgotten!)
Sending so much love to you all, J}
