Entry #3
Today was the day of dreadful Math and delightful English.
The subject of math is one that gave me terrible memories filled with confusion and bad grades. It was a miracle that I graduated high school with those not-so-good math grades (I guess I'm kind of proud of it?) The entrance of the teacher was a rather odd one.
As the class sat waiting for the professor, the clock already ticking 3 minutes past the start time, we all heard this flurry of tennis shoes and papers rustling and there was our professor. He seemed middle aged, wedding ring and all, with glasses perched on his nose, stubble on his chin. He looked tired. We all looked tired. And it was only the second day of school. Of college. Of life. Well, not of life, but... yeah. Life.
Lunch was something along the lines of I don't know and I don't care. The dining hall had a line but wasn't packed. A lot of people were just in line for take out lunch, which in my opinion, seems the be not so fun. Cramming all you can in a small paper box, then eating messed up crappy food. Eh. Not my taste. I saw Sam, the other RA from down the hall, Miyuki's buddy and a soccer-loving Music major. I waved and we sat together for the 30 minutes of time I had. She asked about the second day so far and I complained about the odd math class I had. Then we broke camp and headed to afternoon classes.
Beloved English, oh, beloved English. I always love my English classes. But it also depends on the teacher. And my god, are college English professors all so awesome? The first day passed like a breeze and when she dismissed us, I was almost disappointed. I guess I have to wait until Thursday.
Just now, after we all gathered in a huge group, our hallway group, with Miyuki in the lead, and waltzed down the stairs to eat dinner, then came back, Miyuki and Sam gathered everyone and we had an icebreaker/ storytelling session. It was quite fun. Mel and I, along with a pair of girls from Sam's side (Jess and Isabella) sat in a square-ish circle and just shared stories. It was funny how we all managed to just melt into one huge mixing pot and all got along, just like that. I guess college dorm life just makes things happen like that. It's only the fourth day in this dorm and I'm loving it!
Signing off,
Naomi
