Grave Danger
We use R.E.X. to traverse under the Endless Sea, as we nervously stared out into the depths. If the glass breaks, we'd be crushed by the water basically, or die before reaching the surface or something. Not to mention that Cole would be gone forever instantly.
"We're almost to the Tomb of the First Spinjitzu Master," Zane informs the screen, where we had established contact with Sensei, Misako, and Nya.
"Yeah. Can't believe we're almost there after all we've been through." I sigh.
"I can't believe I'm underwater," Kai mutters, staring at a school of fish passing by.
"You? What about me? Just how thick is this glass?" Cole taps the glass a couple of times.
On-screen, Sensei speaks to us. "We're heading to your location now. With Morro already ahead of you and able to foresee the traps protecting the tomb with the Sword of Sanctuary, it's going to be up to you four to find the Realm Crystal before he does."
"Hehe, Cole's a Ghost, Kai can't swim, we have no magical sword or Elemental Powers. What could go wrong?" Jay nervously laughs.
Misako appears on the screen. "I may not know the three tests you're about to face, but I discovered a riddle that makes reference to it that may help: A Spinjitzu Master can. A Spinjitzu Master cannot. To move forward, don't look ahead, to find his resting spot."
"Huh. That's food for thought." Cole comments.
Jay sees the Leviathan and gulps. "Speaking of food, we're about to be some!"
"We have to go faster. Much faster." I command, and Cole slams the gas and we swim faster. The Leviathan catches up, however and cracks R.E.X.'s glass.
"Why did the tomb have to be underwater?" Kai moans.
"Hold on!" Cole yells as R.E.X. shakes from the impact.
"Ugh! What kind of weapons is this thing equipped with?" Jay asks.
"We don't need weapons. Aim for that rock!" Zane commands.
"On it." Cole nods, and goes through the rock. The Leviathan gets stuck.
"Yeah! All right! Thatta Boy, R.E.X.! Thatta boy!" Jay cheers. We soon arrive at the tomb's entrance.
"If you wanna hide a tomb, this looks like a good place. We're here." I say, looking around the dreary place, filled with gray stone. "I thought there'd be, I don't know, a little more dazzle?"
Jay picks up a cloth left behind by Morro. "Argh! There goes any hope Morro couldn't find this place."
"Hey, stay positive. We're about to risk our lives going through traps we know nothing about. All we have to rely on is each other. At least feel lucky we got this far." Kai adds.
"Oh, I'm sorry. You're right. What was I thinking?" Jay starts again, but in a sarcastic tone. "Hey, there goes any hope Morro couldn't find the tomb! We're not alone! Yay! Now we're gonna have to fight him again! Sure we got our tails handed to us last time, but you never know in the future, because Ninja never quit!" Jay turns into his normal voice. "Better?"
"Eh, I'll take it." Kai shrugs.
Zane points to a statue. "Look!"
"The First Spinjitzu Master. Creator of all Ninjago." Cole gasps.
"Whoa." Kai says.
"Destination reached. Auto return initiated." R.E.X. says.
"Auto return? No, no! Bad, R.E.X.! Bad!" Jay yells, as we chase after R.E.X., but it submerges underwater.
"Our Aeroblade weapons were in there." Zane sighs.
"Ugh, not to mention our only way back." I groan.
"Hey, stay positive! Who needs a way back when we gotta go that way?" Jay says, pointing to a corridor.
"No sword, no powers, no problem. We can do this, guys. As long as we got each other, right?" Kai asks.
"Sibling sharpens sibling." Cole says, and we go to the first test and see doors with symbols on each. "This could be the first test."
"Ooh! Why did it have to be tests? Why can't the tomb just be protected by Dragons? We're good with Dragons." Jay sighs.
"I think we're supposed to pick a door, but which one?" I muse.
"Um, what was it Misako said?" Kai thinks.
"A Spinjitzu Master can. A Spinjitzu Master cannot. To move forward, don't look ahead, to find his resting spot." Zane informs.
"A Spinjitzu master can. Can what?" Kai asks.
"Sixteen doors, for Sixteen Realms?" Jay asks.
"Well, could be. But let me guess, pick the wrong door and we'll be in a realm of hurt." Cole says.
"Oh, I wish we had the Sword right about now." I sigh.
"We can figure this out. A Spinjitzu Master can. Can..." Kai thinks.
"The symbol above this door, it's a tornado. This could be the one, right?" Jay reaches for the doorknob.
"You could be right." Kai says.
"Jay, wait!" Zane yells. "Step away from that door, Jay." Zane pulls him away.
"W-what is it?" Jay stutters.
"We're inside a zoetrope." Zane informs.
"A zoe-what?" Kai asks, perplexed.
"A zoetrope. The engravings in rapid succession creates a moving image." Zane explains.
"Uh, I don't get it." Cole says.
"A Spinjitzu Master can. Do Spinjitzu!" I answer. "Yeah! I'm not dumb!" I cheer.
"Exactly." Zane does Spinjitzu, white white tornado spinning around continusly. "He's creating some sort of shape." He stops and points to a door with the same image as the one we came in. "That one. That's the door out."
"I don't know, Zane. Isn't that the same door we came in? Are you sure?" Cole asks.
"Are you sure you want to doubt a Nindroid?" Zane replies.
"Open the door. Let's find out." Kai takes a deep breath. Jay opens it and finds the second test, a place, kinda like the tomb entryway. Dreary and gray, but at the end of the path, there's a shiny golden staff. Probably a fake, but dang, does that look good.
"But...that's wasn't here before. How can it be the way, if that's the way we came in?" Cole asks.
"Well, welcome to the Tomb of the First Spinjitzu Master." Kai says.
"Hey, hey! Nice one, Zane. Who needs the Sword of Sanctuary when you've got a Nindroid?" Jay cheers.
"The Staff of the First Spinjitzu Master." Kai gasps, walking toward it.
"I'm pretty sure Sensei has it, but maybe my memory's wiped." I shrug.
"This is the second test, remember? Zane, what do you think?" Cole asks, before Kai can move a step forward.
"Pixal can see no pattern. For this riddle room, I'm at a loss." Zane shakes his head.
"Think about it. The first test was a A Spinjitzu Master can. So this one's A Spinjitzu Master cannot. Though, saying it out loud, I don't like the sound of that." Jay muses.
"Hmm." Kai steps on a tile which activates a trap. A huge wrecking ball flys in the room. "Uh-oh!" We quickly dodge it, and we stare at Kai wide-eyed.
"Is everyone okay?" Cole asks.
"Oh, that was a close one." I pant.
"Every step, uh, a trap." Jay nervously smiles.
"How does one reach the staff if it becomes more difficult with every step to get there? If I'm correct, this riddle room poses quite the conundrum." Zane comments.
"So if a Spinjitzu Master can't do it, how are we supposed to reach the staff?" I ask.
"Watch and learn." Kai uses Airjitzu, but activates another trap, which fires arrows at him. "Huh? What-uh-oh!" He dodges it, but activates more traps in the process.
"No. Wait!" Cole yells, as we jump back from flaming arrows.
"Not that one!" Jay yells, as spikes shoot out from nowhere.
"Just stop!" Zane commands. Jay steps back and accidentally hits a tile.
"Oh, no!" Kai yells, as a huge log filled with spikes swings down. We quickly dodge it, but Cole is hit by it, but is unaffected.
"Wait, I'm a ghost. What am I worried about?" Cole asks to no one in particular. The log pushes a button and water starts leaking out. "That! That, I can worry about!"
"I can make it." Kai says.
"Kai!" I yell, as more and more traps are activated.
"No!" Cole yells.
"Will everyone please stop moving!?" Jay shrieks. Kai stops, but now we are each standing on our own tiles.
"I can make it. It's just a hop, skip, and a jump." Kai tries to use Airjitzu, but the tiles under him fall, making him crawl back.
"But what else comes with a hop, skip, and a jump? You trigger one more trap, I don't know how much more we can take." Cole pants.
"The clue clearly said this is a test a Spinjitzu Master cannot do. So why are we not listening to the clue!?" Jay yells.
"Trust me, I can make it." Kai says.
"Wait. What if it's a trick? What if the reason we can't do it is because we were never meant to reach the staff? What is the first rule of being a Ninja?" I muse.
"A Ninja never quits." Zane answers.
"Exactly, and that's why we can't do it. Because a Ninja would never give up." I explain, looking down to the black abyss. Spooky.
"What are you trying to say? We just quit? Are you insane?" Kai asks.
"This time, trust me. And no, I'm not insane, I've been a ninja longer than you." I jump off my tile.
"Kaylee!" I hear everyone yell. I land in a bunch of snow, and continue to slide down a labyrinth full of slides. Fun!
"Whoo-hoo! Haha! Come down and enjoy the ride boys!" I yell. The other fall unto the slide, but the slides makes us diverge into different paths.
"Seriously? Try to stay together!" Kai yells.
"Stay together? I'm just trying to stay in one piece! Aah!" Jay shrieks.
"No!" Cole yells, as we soon fall into the same slide.
"Oh, great. Aah!" Kai lands on top of Zane. "Sorry."
"Watch out!" I yell, and we quickly grab on to an ice stalagmite.
"No, no! Aah!" Zane falls, and he continues sliding.
"Uh-oh. Aah!" Jay falls, and we also fall.
"Oh, no!" Kai accidentally grabs two icicles. "Huh?" He sees Jay using them as skis. I slide past him, on my own icicle skis.
"Too slow Fire Boy! Try again!" I yell.
"Whoo-hoo! I love skiing! Haha! Yeah!" Jay cheers.
Cole passes me. "All right!" We fall through a wall of snow, leading us to the third test. We groan from the impact, standing up and brushing off the snow.
"Is everyone okay?" Zane asks.
Kai groans. "What did we get ourselves into?"
Jay climbs up a wall. "Oh, it's a maze! I'm great at mazes!" We explore the maze, walking around and staring at the reflections cast on the ice.
Kai looks at his reflection, but notices he looks older. "Huh! Whoa! If my reflection means anything, I'm starting to think we won't be breaking out of this maze any time at all."
"My reflection. Is that...me? I look older, but our attire is different. I don't believe these reflections reveal our inability to escape, but a mere glimpse of our future selves." Zane informs.
"What do you mean?" I ask, looking at Zane. "You can't see your future self."
"Misako said, To move forward, don't look ahead. Is that what it means? Wait a minute, why is it I can't see my reflection? Where is my reflection?" Cole asks, staring at the ice.
"It's probably because you're a Ghost." Kai reasons.
"Ghosts cast reflections, Kai. He's probably just looking in the wrong place." Zane retorts.
"I am looking at the same place you are." Cole snaps.
"I seriously doubt it guys, I-" I stare at myself, but a slightly older me. I gasp quietly as the scene quickly changes into...
"Hey, guys, guess what. I get an awesome eyepatch! And there's something else." Jay gasps.
"What, Jay? What is so great that you see that I clearly cannot?" Cole snaps.
"N-nothing. Just an eyepatch." Jay stutters.
"Oh my fucking gosh it really is the future." I gasp, and everyone turns to look at my reflection.
"Told you so-OH." Kai gasps.
(Please just pretend the dude has blonde hair, it's so hard to find these things. And just pretend it looks like the future thingy.)
"OH MY GOSH! YOU AND LLOYD! UGH I'M HAVING A CUTENESS OVERLOAD!" Jay shrieks.
"If this is the future for you Kaylee, I think we succeed in saving Lloyd." Zane deducts.
I can't tear my eyes away from the image. I and Lloyd get married? Fate would really let us do that? My insides warm up, as I smile happily to myself. It was going to be okay. Even if we get into arguements, I can always remember that we would end up together in the end.
"Wait a minute, I think I see me." Cole takes a closer look, but it's not him. "It's Morro! He's in the maze too!"
Morro breaks the ice, swing his sword at us. "All you Ninja do is talk. Blah, blah, blah. I'll stop you from talking!" He swings his sword at Jay.
Jay runs away. "Aah! He's attacking an unarmed man!" He shrieks. I summon my elemental rope, swinging it at Morro.
"We're coming for you!" Kai yells, as Morro catches the rope, and swings me into Jay.
"Sorry!" I yelp and we quickly get up. Zane tackles Morro before he hits Jay.
"Zane and Kaylee are here, but Cole, where are you?" Jay yells.
"I don't really know. But I'm coming!" Cole goes through a wall and collides with Morro. "Huh, why didn't I do that sooner?"
"Whoa! Uhh." Jay yells, as Morro dodges our attacks.
"I forgot he had that sword" I growl. We continuously attack him, hoping that we'd actually hit him.
"Huh. Come on! Catch me if you can!" Kai yells, as he leads Morro to a pile of icicles and traps him.
"Oh. The icicles grow when you cut them!" I gasp in realization.
"No! You can't trap me. I'll find you, Ninja. Just wait, you'll see!" Morro growls.
"Quick, how do we get out of here?" Jay asks.
"To move forward, don't look ahead." Cole muses. I stare forward to find a light peeking out of the ice floor.
"Don't look ahead. Look below!" I yell, pointing below.
"There's light. Everyone, dig!" Kai gasps, and we quickly start digging. We fall through the hole we dug, to find an abundance of crystals, a small stream of water leading to a deep chasm, and the First Spinjitzu Master himself. Still a bit dreary. The gray does compliment the crystals.
"Ow! What? What is it?" Jay yelps, as we rush to the skeleton.
"It's him. The First Spinjitzu Master." Kai pants, and we bow our heads in respect.
"The Realm Crystal." Zane grabs it.
"How does it work?" Kai asks.
"How it works is you'll hand over the Crystal, or say goodbye to your friend." Morro growls, now a ghost, holding Lloyd by the gi. He dangles Lloyd over the water precariously, before pulling him in.
"I'm sorry. I couldn't stop him." Lloyd groans. I aimlessly reach a hand out towards him, even though I know it's useless. Giving him a pleading look, although Morro ignores me, Lloyd gives me a small, but pained smile.
"So what'll it be?" Morro growls, waving Lloyd around like a rag doll. We go into a small huddle to discuss options.
"If we hand him the Crystal, he'll usher the reign of his master, cursing Ninjago and every realm." Zane reasons.
"But if we don't, when has he never made good on a threat? Look at Lloyd. He's too weak to protect himself." Cole counters.
"Ugh, either option totally stinks. What do you think, Kai? What do we do?" Jay asks.
"Looks like the decision is up to you, Kai. So choose." Morro growls.
"Kai, if I can get to Lloyd, I can heal him alright?" I whisper.
"Okay. That's one part of the plan figured out." Kai says.
"Stop stalling! Give me the Realm Crystal, or else!" Morro yells.
"We're not stalling! We're thinking!" Kai yells, and we huddle together again. "He's totally right, I'm stalling. What are we gonna do?"
"Ugh, this guy really chaps my hide. I swear when this is all over..." Cole's anger makes the ground tremble slightly.
"Our powers. Now that Morro's out of Lloyd's body, they're starting to come back." Kai lights his hand up with some fire.
"Yeah, but like Lloyd, they're weak. And we're in no position to fight back." Jay grunts.
"Maybe I can give you some of my energy?" I ask.
"No, save it for Lloyd. He needs it the most." Cole orders.
"Then how are we supposed to get both Lloyd and the Realm Crystal?" Jay asks.
"Leave that to me. Be ready." Kai whispers.
"Time's up! You leave me no choice." Morro growls, as he swings Lloyd, making him hang over the edge.
Kai secretly heats up the Crystal. "Wait! We'll give you the Realm Crystal!" He throws it in a smooth arc over to Morro.
Morro laughs as he catches it, but drops it into a river, due to the heat. The Crystal! What have you done!?" Morro pushes Lloyd into the stream with his Wind.
"Lloyd!" We scream. Kai, I, and Cole chase after Lloyd, while Zane and Jay go after Morro.
"I can't get to him. I can't swim!" Kai yells, the closest to Lloyd.
"You can't swim? I can't touch the water! I'm a Ghost, remember? You at least had a reflection! What happens to me?" Cole snaps.
"Will you all please shut up about your future and please save my boyfriend?" I shriek, as Lloyd's head goes underwater again.
"He's gonna drown!" Cole yells.
"Ugh, this is crazy. What am I doing?" Kai dives in and grabs Lloyd, hoisting him up. He thrashes around, trying to stay afloat.
"Oh, come on." Cole groans. Morro jumps up and knocks me over using his Wind.
"Alright Ghosty Boy, you just messed with the wrong ninja!" I growl, and we start fighting each other.
"You have to grab them, Cole! Before they both go over!" Zane yells. I blast Morro into a wall, and rocks fall over him, kinda covering him? I'm not sure. But I race over to Cole, crossing my fingers that hey wouldn't go over the waterfall.
Cole pulls both of them up, but sees the Crystal fall into the waterfall. "No! Huh?" Morro uses his Wind to grab the Crystal. "Everyone, run!"
"No!" We gasp.
"I'm sorry." Lloyd coughs. I race toward his side, healing any major problems.
"It's not your fault." I sigh. Kai and I help Lloyd up, as we look for a place to exit out of the cave.
"Why don't we Airjitzu up there?" I ask.
"Alright. Ninja, Go!" We yell, Arijitzuing up. We walk the path toward the cave and soon exit out, feeling the glorious sunlight on us. Wow, we spent a long time in that cave.
"You all sacrificed so much to save me." Lloyd says, looking up at us.
"Heh, I promised to look after you, didn't I?" Kai says.
"And we kinda can't get along with our fearless green leader." I sheepishly say, staring at everyone.
"But now Ninjago's gonna be cursed." Lloyd reasons.
"Yes, but now we have you." Zane says.
"And now our powers are back." Jay adds, lightning his hand up with electricity.
"As you get strong, so will we. And they haven't even seen us at full strength." Cole says, and we shoot our powers into the air.
