THE OUIJA BOARD MESSAGE

Alice had always been into the supernatural. She never practiced wiccan or had done a spell. But she did, however, studied it. Anything that she found interesting, she would write. Most recently, she was sitting in Starbucks with her mocha frappe, notebook, and computer. She had been searching for information that would help her contact the supernatural. Her brown eyes were glued to the computer when she heard the chair in front of her scrape the tiled floor. She half expected one of her friends to sneak up on her, but when she looked up, she only saw a man with spiky green hair. Feeling uncomfortable, she tried to pay attention to her computer, but when it was not working; she looked at the man sitting in front of her.

"Can I help you?"

"Sorry miss, but I see you are on that computer," he said. "What have you been searching?"

"Um, none of your concern?"

"Ah, but I feel it is."

"Why would this concern you?"

"Well, in that notebook of yours, you seem to write about searching for a way to contact the supernatural."

"So?"

"So, how about I help you?" Alice looked at the man with hesitation. She felt that maybe if the guy had a way for her to talk to spirits, then she could learn more about the other world. Though, while there were pros, there should be cons. Like if she were to speak to a spirit, would it stay and haunt her for the rest of her life? Or would it crossover peacefully. Eventually, she decided and closed her laptop.

"I'm listening." she responded.

"You can contact the supernatural by using a spirit board."

"Really?"

"Yes, ma'am."

"Where can I get one of these spirit boards?" questioned Alice.

"I have one right now in my bag," he said as he pulled his backpack off. "If you're willing to take the chance. Once you touch one, there is no going back," Alice pondered on this, wondering if she should take the chance and risk getting haunted. Or maybe she could talk to the other side. The man held his backpack out in front of him. Alice knew that by taking the bag and touching the board, she would be involved with the supernatural.

"What's the catch?"

"Find someone to play the game with you."

"Can't I play it on my own?"

"If you play it on your own, you would open a portal to a realm you never wanted to talk to."

Nervously, Alice took the backpack and slung it over her shoulder. The man smirked as he watched her bring the bag to her car. She could feel that he was watching her and it made her feel uneasy because she didn't know what this guy had planned or if he stole something and hid it in the bag so she would get framed for something that she didn't do. Once she had put the bag in her car, she turned to face the man, only to see that he was gone. Blinking twice, she could not figure out what was going on or where the man had disappeared to. Getting into the car, Alice drove home. After she got home, Alice pulled her cellphone out and called her best friend Caleb. She waited impatiently, wondering when he would answer. Eventually, Caleb answered on the fourth ring. Smiling, she placed the phone to her ear as she listened to Caleb's voice.

"Hey Caleb!" she exclaimed.

"Alice? What do you want?"

"I want you to come and talk to me, maybe even play a game."

"Really?" he questioned. "What kind of game are we talking about?"

"Don't even try it," says Alice, knowing exactly what he wanted from her. "I'm talking about this board game called The Ouija Board."

"The Ouija board?" he said hesitantly. "I don't know Alice, I don't think it's a game."

"Come on, please! We could communicate with spirits!" Knowing that Alice would continue to beg Caleb to play the game with her, he let out a long sigh and responded.

"Fine, but if something spooky happens, then I am leaving."

"Deal!" with that, Caleb hung up. Excitement drew near as Alice started getting her house ready to start the séance. Even though she thought of it as a game, she wondered if the game was truly real and if she could talk to spirits. It would have been the most exhilarating thing to have happened to her. She pulled out the board and sat it on the coffee table, then she grabbed four candles and started lighting them. Placing the planchette on the board, she heard her doorbell go off. Standing from her spot, she went to the door and pulled it open. Standing at the door was Caleb, his brown eyes staring at her mischievously.

"Hey Caleb!" she said as she grabbed his hand and dragged him in. "I already set the board up and lit the candles."

"Where exactly did you come across a board?"

"Technically, a guy gave it to me."

"Do you know who he was?"

"No, he was a stranger and this board he got was free!"

"Alice, are you serious? You got a board from a guy you don't even know?"

"Yes."

"What if he did something?!"

Alice rolled her eyes as they got to the coffee table. Upon arriving there, she read off the rules, which comprised six rules and some unwritten rules. Taking a deep breath, the two placed their hands on the planchette and moved it around in a circle. Alice was going to be the main questioner, while Caleb holds the planchette. She looked at Caleb, who was slightly nervous; she smiled reassuringly at Caleb as they started the session.

"Are there any spirits who would like to contact us?" she said as the two waited for the planchette to move. Suddenly, the two felt a tingling sensation throughout their fingertips as the planchette moved over to Yes.

"Alice? Are you moving the planchette?"

"No, I'm not," she said. "This is a legit thing, something moved it."

"I don't believe this, ask it another question."

"Spirit, what is your name?"

"S-T-A-C-Y."

"How old are you Stacy?"

"200."

"Where are you from?" Alice waited for Stacy to answer the question, but instead of telling her where she was from; the planchette started spelling out another word.

"R-U-N."

"What? Why?"

"HE'S COMING!"

"Who's coming?!" suddenly, the planchette flew off the board and across the room. It hit the nearest door, which was the door to the kitchen. Looking at Caleb, they stood and made their way toward the kitchen. Alice's stomach was in knots, and she was not sure what was going on. Caleb stood in front of her and led the way toward the door. When the two got to the kitchen door, they heard glass breaking inside. Panic swelled in their chests as they stepped away from the door and grabbed the planchette. Once they got their hands on the planchette, they ran back to the board and placed it down. Putting their fingers on the object, they dashed the object over goodbye. Whatever was in that kitchen, she would not take any chances and immediately called for an exorcist. After she called the exorcist, he had gone through the entire house and blessed it. After that, Alice put the board away and hid it so that she would not have to see it again. Slowly, her life went back to normal. She ignored the board or focused on anything paranormal, instead she tried to find something else that could interest her. Either way, she would not get involved with it anymore. The other world was too scary, and she did not like it one bit.
