Chapter fourteen : Flair up

"Jules if I drive any faster I'm going to get pulled over!" Ray Molina yelled at his daughter anic flooding his body.

Julie huffed out falling back into her seat, pulling out her phone and texting her twin.

Jay couldn't stop pacing around the hospital room. The doctors had his mother under a medical sedative. She was passed out with a steady heartbeat on a screen next to her.

He couldn't even tell you what happened. One moment she was fine the next she was coughing and swerving off the road. He didn't get any of it.

His phone buzzed from his back pocket, the screen flashed with another text from Juile. Jay sighed texting her back, falling back into the chair that was in the corner of the room, right next to his mother's head.

Jay dropped his phone bitting his nails. It was a nervous tick he had picked up from his mother. The feeling of chewing down on something slightly calming him down. His mother said she had learned about it when she worked at the Orpheum, when a band had left to get food and then ended up dead.

He didn't want to know that feeling. One moment everything was normal the next his mother was dead. He couldn't handle that. He just couldn't. "Come on mom." He didn't even know he was crying till the words left his mouth.

Julie sat back in her seat talking to her father, "Carlos is asleep in the back. Probably a good thing."
"Yeah. Probably."
She stared out the window, "Dad? What's gonna happen?"

Her father's eyes were focused on the road, "I don't know baby. We'll figure it out."

"Sobrino!" Victoria ran to her sister's hospital room searching for her nephew.

"Tia?" Jay sat bolt upright in the chair, bringing his head from his hands. Victoria took one look at her nephew and wanted to ball her eyes out.

His hair was a mess, and his eyes red. Red and puffy, matching the tear stains on his checks. Even his sweatshirt was messed up on his body. "Oh, James." She whispered, stretching out her arms. Jay whipped his eyes, gladly taking his aunt's hug.

"What's gonna happen to her?"
Victoria gave Jay a kiss on the head, "I don't know baby. We'll figure it out." She was saying the words to herself as well. But she would never let him know that as he cried into her shoulder.
