Solution
I woke up the next day with an idea for my deteriorating leg and immediately ran to the lab, going through every file and detail I could find on whether or not it would work. I barely noticed when Shuri walked in and began watching me run around like a crazy person.
"Chris?" she asked. "Chris, what are you doing?" I skidded to a stop in front of her, grinning.
"I found it!" I exclaimed happily. "I finally found it!" I took off again, trying to gather anything I thought I would need.
"Wait, found what?!" I stopped at the desk, rolling out a sheet of paper and drawing out the equation.
"The solution," I said simply. I spun to look at her. "I know how to keep my leg from deteriorating." She furrowed her brow, and I held up my pen. "Vibranium!" I looked back at the rough sketch, continuing on it. "When I was working with Ultron, he was trying to build a body for himself. He went to Klaue for materials. Vibranium. He found a way to use it in Dr. Cho's regeneration cradle, the one that brought me back to life, to build him a stronger one. I remember something she said about it. Something like 'The vibranium isn't just compatible with the cells, it's binding them.' It made them stronger! It's why Vision is so strong!
"If I can find a way to infuse my leg with vibranium without destroying it completely, it should stop the cells from dying off!" Shuri grabbed my shoulders and turned me to face her.
"Chris, slow down," she said. "It's like you said. Putting pure vibranium into yourself could destroy your leg completely." I nodded.
"I know, and I thought of that. All we need is something equally as potent to cancel it out." I grinned. "And I think I found it. Tattoo ink can contain lead, cadmium, chromium, nickel, and titanium. That much strong metal in a high dose should be enough to cancel out the strength of the pure vibranium without diluting it too much to help me." She thought about it before nodding, wide-eyed.
"That...that might just work! Chris, you did it!" A few hours later, we were working on mixing a solution together when we were scared shitless from behind.
"Alright, where am I?" I grabbed a scalpel and spun around, Shuri spinning around also.
"Don't scare me like that, colonizer," she said. Ross furrowed his brow.
"Colon- Who?" he asked. He sighed, extending a hand. "My name is Everett." She just glared at him.
"Yes, I know. Everett Ross, former air force pilot and now, CIA. You also apparently want to arrest my friend, so I don't like you." I rolled my eyes.
"Shuri, play nice," I told her. Ross nodded, clearly uncomfortable, as Shuri went back to working.
"Right." He looked around groggily. "Okay, is this Wakanda?"
"No, it's Kansas," I told him.
"How long ago was Korea?"
"Yesterday," Shuri told him, not looking up. Ross shook his head.
"I don't think so. Bullet wounds don't just magically heal overnight." She looked back at him, chuckling.
"They do here," she said. "But not by magic, by technology. Don't touch anything. My brother will return soon." She nudged my arm, and I looked down at the solution, smiling softly and nodding.
"These train things," Ross said. We looked over to see him watching the transportation systems out the window. "That's magnetic levitation, right?" He looked back at us, and I nodded, blank faced.
"Obviously." He nodded.
"Obviously...but I've never seen it this efficient. The light panels, what are they?" Shuri walked over to him.
"Sonic stabilizers."
"Sonic what?"
"In its raw form, vibranium is too dangerous to be transported at that speed, so I developed a way to temporarily deactivate it."
"There's vibranium on those trains?" She smiled.
"There is vibranium all around us."
"That's how we healed you," I said, making him look at me. Shuri and I's Kimoyo beads buzzed, and I walked over to her, putting our wrists together as a projection of Okoye popped up.
"Where is T'Challa?" the general asked. "His Kimoyo beads have been switched off." Ross tried to touch the sand projection, but his hand went straight through it. I stifled a chuckle.
"We are not joined at the hip, Okoye," Shuri told her.
"A man showed up at the border who claims to have killed Klaue." My eyes widened.
"What?" I asked.
"W'Kabi is transporting him as we speak to the palace. We need to find the king." A projection appeared on the window of a man with short dreadlocks and armor.
"An outsider?" Shuri asked.
"No, a Wakandan." Ross slowly walked over, staring at the screen .
"He's not a Wakandan," he said. We looked over at him. "He's one of ours."
