Retribution

I shouldn't be surprised that I lost count of how many men I had taken out, but soon I was watching as T'Challa stalked closer to Klaue. I ran over quickly. And I mean quickly.

"Umbulali!" the king yelled. I stopped next to him, and Klaue looked at me, grinning.

"Well," he said, "would ya look at that?" He looked back at T'Challa. "You know, you look just like your old man." His prosthetic arm split open to reveal a sonic disruptor. T'Challa grabbed a rolling changecart table as Klaue fired the blaster, and I jumped out of the way, running to find the others. I found T'Challa as he jumped up and followed him out of the casino. He tossed one of the remote Kimoyos onto a car close to us and kept running. I wasn't far behind.

"Shuri!" he yelled. The car roared to life.

"Yes yes yes!" Shuri exclaimed. "Wait...Which side of the road is it?"

"For Bast sake just drive!"

"Okay okay, calm down brother!" Nanites scrambled from T'Challa's necklace, forming his suit, and I tapped the bracelet Shuri had given me, nanites escaping from it as well. I pulled off my sunglasses and tied my ribbon around my eyes, and we continued running as the Lexus pulled up behind us. T'Challa flipped onto the hood of the car, digging his claws into it as I ran beside it. "Woo! Let's go!"

"They're trying to lose us," Okoye told us.

"We'll take the right," Nakia said.

"We'll take the other two!" Shuri told the two others. "I see a shortcut." Soon we came across a crash in an intersection where one of Klaue's men's SUVs had collided with another car. "We're not going to make it!"

"Keep going!" T'Challa told her. He dropped to hold onto the side of the car, and I jumped onto the side as well, hanging on harshly as he used his claws to make a sharp turn and avoid the wreck.

"Woo! Brother!" He jumped off of the Lexus and onto the SUV, ripping the roof open. I laughed, letting go of the car to run beside him.

"Stronger than you look!" I yelled up at him. He chuckled and shook his head as the driver jumped out of the car. I looked back to see the Lexus run over the frightened man.

"Hey, what was that?!" Shuri asked.

"Don't worry about it," T'Challa told her. "You're doing great." He jumped back onto the Lexus, pulling me with him, and we sped off again.

"Hey, look at your suit!" Shuri said as we crossed a bridge. "You've been taking bullets charging it up with kinetic energy!" T'Challa looked down at the glowing glyphs on his suit and nodded.

"Pull around the truck," he told her. The car accelerated, closing in on the SUV and leaping onto a trailer between us and the truck. He hid on top of Klaue's car before leaping onto the hood and launching off, releasing the kinetic energy in his suit. Shuri swerved the Lexus, skillfully catching T'Challa on the roof again.

"You show off," I said, grinning.

"Faster , Shuri!"

"I'm going as fast as I can!" We swerved around turns, my stomach jolting every time we came close to a wall until T'Challa grabbed my arm and pulled me onto the roof with him. He hooked an arm around my waist to keep me steady, and I muttered a 'Thank you' under my breath. Klaue slid his body out to sit on the SUV's windowsill as his driver made a sharp right onto a street. Determined, Shuri rounded the turn, but Klaue fired a massive sonic blast from his arm that Shuri couldn't evade .

"No, no, no, no, no, no, no!!" T'Challa grabbed me and jumped off the car as it broke apart, running along the side of the building and dropping me semi-softly on the ground. I watched as he launched himself at the SUV and latched onto the side, digging his claws into the wheel and pulling the tire off. The truck's nose crashed down, skidding across the street and sending sparks everywhere. I ran over to T'Challa as he rolled to a stop, the car hitting the curb, flipping onto its roof, and sliding to a stop in the middle of the busy outdoor cafe.

With the SUV upside-down and customers looking on, T'Challa and I approached to find Klaue struggling to climb out of his window .

"KLAUE!!" T'Challa yelled. Klaue slowly got to his feet and tried to level his disrupter but running up, I evaded the blast and grabbed his prosthetic arm, pulling it off completely.

"Did you think we would forget?" I asked him angrily. "You hurt all of us, you sick bastard!" The man simply laughed.

"Look at me, murderer!" T'Challa exclaimed. "Where did you get this weapon?"

"You savages didn't deserve it," Klaue said. T'Challa grabbed him by the throat and slammed him into the SUV. "Oh, mercy! King, mercy!" Seething, T'Challa exposed his claws, prepared to strike.

"Every breath you take is mercy from me."

"Kumkani!" Okoye exclaimed. The two of us turned to find Okoye and Nakia getting out of a Suburban with Ross in the front seat. "Ihlabathi libukele." I looked around at the people surrounding us with their phones out and nodded to T'Challa.

"Come on guys," Ross said. I stared at him, unsure if he'd figured out who I was yet. "Let's go, huh?" Nakia walked over to me as T'Challa got in the car with Okoye.

"Are you okay?" she asked me quietly. I sighed and nodded.

"Yeah," I told her. "At least, I will be once he gets his retribution." She nodded, and we climbed into the car silently.
