I'm Not Afraid

My head snapped up as the Dora Milaje were blown off the deck and into the field. I shared a glance at Nakia, and in an instant, I had picked her up and ran us over to Killmonger. She ran towards him as I regained my footing, attacking him with everything she had.

We swapped attacks with him until he kicked me backwards and slashed at Nakia's thigh, kicking her off of the deck. My eyes widened, and I ran at him, attacking him wherever and whenever I could. At one point, I went to sling my arm into his gut, but he grabbed it. I pressed my other arm up against the first, pressing against him as hard as I could. His helmet retracted, and he smirked at me.

"The fast one, right?" he asked. He chuckled. "I guess not fast enough." I gritted my teeth and grinned.

"You think I'm afraid of you," I said darkly. "I'm not afraid. I've already been through hell and back. There's no way I'm being taken down by a child in a suit that doesn't belong to him." (AN: *cough cough* John Walker *cough*) I ducked under his arms and kicked him in the back. He flew forwards and had to dig his claws into the deck to keep from being launched into the field. He ran back at me and released the energy from his suit, making me fly backwards and land in the grass, my vision going black.

Chris woke up in her room back at the tower. Startled by the sudden change, she jumped up, expecting to be out of the bed in an instant, but that wasn't the case. She looked down at her hands, frowning.

She didn't have her powers.

She opened the door to the room and peered into the hallway. Except that it didn't lead to the hallway. When Chris opened the door, it led straight to the living room, where a man was standing in the middle of the room. She stared at him, knowing who it was even if she couldn't see his face.

"Tony?" she asked. He turned to look at her, smiling as if nothing had happened between them.

"What's up, kid?" he asked. Chris crossed her arms, stepping closer but not by much.

"What's going on?" He chuckled.

"You've been through...well, a lot. It takes its toll." She nodded, looking at the floor. "You're gonna be okay, Chris." She suddenly became her sixteen year old self again as he walked over and kneeled in front of her, placing a hand on her shoulder. "What's wrong?" She gulped.

"I miss you, Dad." He smiled softly.

"I know, kid. I miss you too. But you were right. I had no right to do or say what I did. I hurt you in more ways than one." She nodded and was back to her normal self as Tony stood up, brushing the hair out of her face.

"You don't need me anymore," Tony said. Chris squeezed her eyes shut, feeling wind on her face once again as she faintly heard her name.

"Chris?"

"Chris."

"Chris!"

"Chris, wake up!" My eyes shot open to see Shuri kneeling in front of me. I scrambled to my feet, looking around. T'Challa and N'Jadaka were nowhere to be found, but the Border Tribe warriors were no longer fighting. I looked at Shuri.

"What happened?" I asked her.

"You were knocked out and T'Challa tackled Killmonger into the Great Mound," she said. "After that, Okoye was able to convince W'Kabi to surrender." I nodded. "Are you alright?" I sighed and looked around at the Wakandans still in the field.

"Yeah, I, uh...I'll be fine." I looked down at her. "Thank you, Shuri." I ran off to find the Dora I needed. I finally found her helping some of the injured fighters.

"Ayo!" I yelled, getting her attention. She looked up at me as I ran over.

"Miss Barnes." She nodded. "What can I do for you?" I sighed.

"Where is he?"
