Chapter 36: You're Somebody Else

"This too shall pass"

"Stop.  Stop.  Stop!"  Anita urgently said as her, Derek, and Scott came to a hault right before hitting the water.

Anita looked and saw Kira grab the power line that was shooting electricity out.  She wouldn't admit it but that was cool.  Anita looked around and then saw Isaac laying on the ground.  Anita watched where she was stepping as she made her way over to him.  Once Kira handled the electricity, Anita went over to Isaac and kneeled down next to him.

She observed him and her eyes widened as she didn't feel a pulse.  She heard someone run over to her and she looked over, seeing Derek.

"He's not breathing".  Anita breathed out.

"Scott, he's not breathing!"  Derek yelled over to the true alpha.

"He's burned.  Why isn't he healing either?"  Anita questioned before moving Isaac on his back.  "I'm starting chest compressions.  Get someone!"  She shouted to anyone at this point.

Anita adjusted her position and then started to give Isaac chest compressions, breathing out what number she was on each time she did it.

Anita didn't pay attention to what was going on around her. She was focused on Isaac. She continued to give him CPR until staff from the hospital came to takeover.

Anita stood up shakily from all the weight she had on her knees as she watched them take Isaac inside. She could feel the dampness on her jeans from the water she was kneeled down in but she didn't care.

~~~
Anita was in the back of the police station, putting files away, hearing numerous panic voices in the distance. Anita furrowed her eyebrows and put the last file away when the door opened.
"Anita, I don't want you to panic". Deputy Parrish slowly entered the room.
"Putting it that way is going to make me panic". Anita looked at Parrish a bit uneasy.
Parrish had his hands out in front of him. "There may be a bomb somewhere in here".
Anita felt her heart stop. "What?" She squeaked out.
"Grab David's documents from his desk and get out". Parrish directed and left the room, leaving the door opened.
"Shouldn't we all just leave?". Anita called out but Parrish was already gone. She let out a nervous laugh before making her way out of the room.
Anita made her way back to the front of the station as her heart beat quickly in her chest, passing by other deputies who moved past Anita in a rush manner. Anita then came to a stop at the front of the station.
"What are you two doing here?" Anita asked, looking at Derek and Chris.
"Long story". Chris answered.
Another deputy came over and shakily unlocked Chris' handcuff.
"What's going on?" Chris asked the deputy but the deputy just continued to get Chris out of the other handcuff.
Anita went over and grabbed the files and other work that Parrish asked of her, but was missing something. "Rod, where's the witness reports for David's case?" Anita walked over to the deputy as it was originally on his desk.
"Anita, get down! Get down!" Derek suddenly shouted.
Anita was midway of giving Rod a file when her and Rod looked to Derek. Anita saw Derek grab Chris, throwing himself on top of him while shoving the nearby Deputy to the ground and then the explosion went off.
Anita barely had time to blink when she was flung back and felt debris fly all over her.  She wrapped her arms around her head.  She stayed there until she didn't feel anything falling on her.
Anita heard that damn ringing in her ears as she slowly unwrapped herself.
"Get me an ambulance here, at the sheriffs station".  Someone said but it sounded all distorted to her.  Anita felt a warm liquid running down her forehead as she pushed herself up on her side.  From what she saw with her arm she was covered in dust and ruble.
"We've got an explosion.  We got multiple officers down.  Multiple officers down.  We need an ambulance A.S.A.P. On the double".
And then the ringing stopped and she heard the chaos around her. Anita felt someone slide on the ground beside her and was met with Scott's worried eyes.
"Is Derek okay?" She asked.
"Anita, you're-"
"I'm fine. Is Derek okay?" She asked once again.
"Scott. Scott!"
Anita moved her head, hissing slightly from the pain. Her eyes widened slightly as she pulled herself up, trudging over.
"Rod". Anita kneeled down, glass crunching as she did so. She barely paid Stiles mind as her focus was on the deputy. She felt a weight of heaviness fall on her but she ignored it, pushing her body to focus on Rod.
"Rod? Can you hear me?" She asked and grabbed his hand into hers, she felt him grab it tightly as blood spurted from his mouth.
"Can you do something?" Stiles shakily asked Scott. "Take his pain? Anything to make it easier?" Stiles pleaded to Scott and then looked to Anita.
Scott gripped Rods other hand and started to take his pain.
"Look at me, Rod". Anita kept her composure but on the inside she was crying her eyes out. She gave him a comforting smile.
"They got it from here". She told him, letting him know that his fellow sisters and brothers would get the job done.
And then Rod let go.
Anita didn't want to look away from his dead body. She didn't. She was afraid that she would be met with his lost ghost. But she did. She did look up.
When Anita looked up she saw Rod smiling down at her. "You got it from here too, kid". Rod smiled down to her and turned around, walking towards one of the walls before he vanished.
Anita let out a breath of relief, closing her eyes as a tear fell from her eye as she put Rods hand on his chest, Scott doing the same.
Anita stood up, stumble over some wood as she made her way over to Derek or Chris.
"Derek". Anita breathed out with relief and then saw his back. "We have to get him out of here before he starts healing and people start to question". She told Chris.
"Your head". Derek was in a daze from his injury but all he cared about was her. She was bleeding. She was the one that needed help.
"Out. Out! Out!" Sheriff yelled in distress.
"Stiles we gotta get you out of here". Anita then heard Scott.
"It's a small cut. I'll heal". She reassured him and then looked back to Chris. "Can you get him out of here? I need to help Stiles". Anita asked.
"I got it". Chris nodded.
Anita turned around and followed after the teenagers. "I'm coming too".
"The oni's are on their way". Kira told her.
"Joy". Anita muttered.
~~~

"Is it locked?" Anita asked as they got to the back doors of the animal clinic. It was pouring down rain but Anita didn't mind. She was getting all the dust and crap off of her.

Scott then turned around, Onis suddenly appearing.

"Stiles, get inside!" Scott ordered, tossing him the keys. Once Stiles got the door open and he gestured for Anita to enter. As Anita passed him, she felt a heavy feeling fall over her head.

"Hey, Kira, get inside!" She heard Stiles.

"Did you just get stabbed?" Anita questioned Scott as Kira helped him in.

They moved to the back and Anita kept an eye on Stiles. She watched every move he made. Every expression. She heard Scott grunt from when Kira tried to pull the blade out and then her eyes widened when Stiles looked to her.

"Guys, that's not Stiles". Anita told them.

Void Stiles then gripped Kiras wrist, pulling it in an uncomfortable position as she cried in pain and then whacked her head on the table where she fell on the ground, passed out.

"Way to ruin the fun, Anita". Void Stiles spoke darkly, looking over to her.

Anita kept her eyes on him as she slowly made her way over to Scott.  Void Stiles tsked at her, waiving his finger in a mocking way as he stepped in front of her, making sure she didn't get to Scott.

Void Stiles opened his one hand that was held into a fist and then blew a purple substance in Anita's face.

Anita immediately started to cough, knowing exactly what it was.

"Vervain".  She coughed out.

"I know all about you Wisps".  Void Stiles grabbed onto her arm tightly.

Anita gasped as images started to run through her head.

"And so does Stiles".  Void Stiles threw her onto the ground where she continued to cough as images and sounds continued.

She heard screaming and saw chaos all around her. Gunshots were going off and then the sound of a dark laugh echoed her ears as the images continued.

Civilians yelling.

A man catching on fire.

Civilians getting shot.

And it just kept going until it finally stopped.

"They'll fool you.   They'll fool everyone".

"Not everyone".  Dr. Deaton said from beside Void Stiles and then injected his neck with a syringe.

"What was that?  Was that a cure?  Is he okay?"

"The fox is poisoned.  But it's not dead.  Not yet".

Anita laid on her back, facing the ceiling as she now felt exhausted.

"Anita, you okay?"  Dr. Deaton asked.

"Fine.  That thing vervained me".  She answered grumpily.
