Chapter 1: Beacon Hills High

The memories I couldn't make haunt me

"Just keep walking Anita"

Anita didn't even turn her head to the right, not wanting to draw more attention to herself as Simon was walking beside her.  Whispers and stares were thrown her way, everywhere she looked there was a pair of eyes looking at her.

She's the one that sees ghosts

Is that Ghost Whisperer?

Can't believe they let that nut job out

She's crazy

Were just a few of the things that were being thrown around the school halls. Simon who seemed to have enough went over to a pair of girls and went right through them, their papers flying everywhere, making them gasp before scrambling to pick them up. Simon instantly went back over to Anita as she turned the corner to go to the office where she picked up her schedule.

The school day was long. Mostly because she had no idea what was going on. She hasn't been in school since she was a kid. Well, Eichen had classes, but it really wasn't school. She also had these two boys in a few of her classes who seemed to talk a lot. Especially in her science class where the teacher was not a fan of them, but he also did scare her.

Luckily for her, Simon kept her company. She wanted to make friends. Well, at least one friend. Well, one friend that was still alive. But whenever she went to speak to someone they would either leave or tell her not to talk to them.

Now, her second day was interesting...

When Allison knocked Scott off the rock wall, the class went into laughter. Even Anita cracked a smile.

"McCall, I don't know why, but your pain gives me a special kind of joy. Right?" Coach spoke to him.

"All right, next two. Stilinski, Erica, let's go. The wall."

Stiles seemed to do it pretty quickly and when he came down he seemed to pump himself up while Anita's eyes traveled to Erica who was still on the wall. She was hyperventilating. Coach quickly came over to the mat.

"Erica. Dizzy? Is it vertigo?" Coach asked and Anita knitted her eyebrows together at his question.

"Cerritos a dysfunction of the vestibular system of the inner ear. She's just freaking out". Lydia told corrected him.

"Erica."

"I'm fine".

"Coach. Maybe it's not safe, you know she's epileptic". Allison told him.

"Why doesn't anybody tell me this stuff?"

Before Anita could keep quiet, her comment slipped from her mouth. "Shouldn't you know since you're the teacher?"

The group of friends that contained the two boys from her science class looked over to her while Coach gave her a look. "Not now New Girl".

Anita instantly became quiet right after, not before mumbling an apology.

"Erica, you're fine. Just kick off from the wall. There's a mat to catch you. Come on". Coach reassured her and she slowly came down. "See, you're fine. You're on the ground. You're alright. Shake it off".

Anita frowned slightly at Erica, especially when some of the class were snickering at her. How cruel was this place? She thought school was supposed to be a safe place.

"Alright. Next. New girl, Warren"

"My name is Anita". Anita said softly, not knowing if he knew her name or not.

"Ok. Anita. Wall go. Chop. Chop". He clapped his hands together.

~~~
"Come on, go say hi to someone". Simon told her as she sat outside during lunch.
"I've tried that yesterday. You should know, you were there". She told him, biting into her sandwich.
"Only one day. Everyone's first day is weird".
"No one likes me Simon. I'm the weird kid that no one bothers to get to know because she spent her somewhat childhood and teen years in a nuthouse". Anita glanced at him before putting the rest of her sandwich away.
Simon sighed as he walked down a few steps before plopping down next to her. Simon placed his hand on her shoulder, trying to comfort her but of course she couldn't feel anything.
"Anita?"
Both Anita and Simon looked up to the sound of the familiar voice. Clarice Lockett stood right in front of them. Anita looked at her sadly, rubbing her forehead as her sister looked around confused. Just like always.
"Where are we? Why aren't we at home?" She questioned and Anita opened her mouth to tell her the usual. That she was dead. But she couldn't do it this time.  Anita had told her sister over a hundred times that she was dead and each time it pained her to see the reaction.
"Are we at Beacon High?  I thought I already dropped Laura off". Her sister continued.
Anita finally forced a smile on her face for her sister. "Remember? You came to give her, her book she forgot".
Clarice stared at her sister. She looked confused and then her facial expression went blank before she nodded.
"Ok". Was all Clarice answered with.
And then she was gone.
Anita let out a sigh before rubbing her hands over her eyes. This was worse than making no friends.
"Hi". A new voice broke her train of thought.
Anita moved her hands away from her face and saw a boy around her age standing in front of her, he had a smile on his face.
"You're the new girl, right?" He asked, pointing at her while raising an eyebrow.
"New girl sounds better than the other nickname I suppose". Anita cracked a smile.
"Oh, yeah. I've heard it". He shrugged and now she was the one to raise an eyebrow.
"Shouldn't you not be talking to me?" She asked.
"Don't see why I shouldn't" He responded.
"I'm weird". She commented.
"Normal is overrated". A grin spread across his face.
"You should be scared". Anita pointed out.
"You don't look that scary".
The stared at one another. Anita looked over to Simon who was staring at the guy with annoyance. She then turned back to him, standing up on the stairs as she held her hand out to the boy.
"I'm Anita".
The boy looked at her hand for a second than clasped his into her.
"Charlie".  He introduced himself.
Once the two let go of each other's hands, Anita sat back down on the steps, Charlie sitting beside her. Once again. Simon was giving Charlie an annoyed look. The three glanced at a black car that pulled up in front of the school, Charlie than spoke up again;
"So, tell me about yourself. Parents? Siblings? Favorite color?" Charlie started to ask questions.
"Mmm. Parents, complicated. Siblings? I had a sister. Favorite color? Red". Anita nodded her head. Yup. Sounded correct.
"You?" She asked.
"Parents, who knows where. Siblings? Only child. Favorite color? A nice forest green".
"Ohhh, fancy with the color". Anita let out a small laugh.
Charlie grinned as he held his arms out. "That's just me".
They were gonna continue their conversation when the door opened, someone walking out and got into the car. Than the doors bursted open again, two more figures rushing out, almost tripping over Anita.
"Watch it". Charlie called out, but the boys ignored him.
Anita looked at the boys that stopped a few feet in front of her as they looked at the car. "Those two are in a few of my classes. They're distributive sometimes". She told him and Charlie nodded.
"Yeah. That's McCall and Stilinski. Been best friends for as long as I remember". Charlie looked to her.
The bell went off, indicating lunch was over. The two stood up, Simon long gone now.
"What's your next class?" Charlie asked.
"It's uh..." Anita trailed off as she looked at the car. She saw the man in the drivers seat talk slightly at the girl-wait that's Erica. She got a makeover.
But she saw him put his sunglasses on and her eyes widened. "You go". She told Charlie. "I'll see you tomorrow". She gave him a smile.
Charlie looked from the car to her before nodding his head and turned to head inside.
Anita picked her bag up from the steps, putting one strap over her shoulder as she stood next to Stiles. "Derek?" She questioned.
This made all heads snap over to her.
Stiles and Scott looked at her with shock while Derek and Erica looked at her with confusion.
"Who are you?" Derek asked, his voice intimating.
Anita took a few strides to the car, almost next to the open window as she looked at him. "I'm Anita. Anita Lockett". She said and Derek's hard features instantly went away as he took his sunglasses back off to look at her.
He looked shocked to see her but there was also a bit of recognition and sadness. But he held the sadness well.
"You knew my sister-". She started but Derek cut her off.
"Clarice. I know". Derek looked at her. It seemed like he was analyzing her.
It was weird.
"I know I never got the chance since...you know". Anita was wording what she was going to say slowly. She looked at the ground than back over to Derek.
"I'm sorry about your family". Her voice was soft and her tone was genuine.
Derek just nodded his head.
"I'm sorry about your sister". Derek told her. His tone was genuine.
Erica gave Derek a look. When does he say sorry?
Scott who was listening to the whole thing was even shocked. Mostly by the information.
And Stiles. Well, Stiles kept hitting Scotts shoulder to tell him what the conversation was about.
The late bell rang and Anita panicked a bit. She's late! And it's her second day.
"Ummm. I better go. Bye". She quickly turned back around and left, Stiles and Scott looking at her as she entered back into the school.
Derek put his sunglasses back on again as he gave the two boys a wide grin before taking off.
"What just happened?" Stiles flipped out. "How does Ghost Whisperer know Derek? She was in Eichen since like forever". Stiles rambled a bit.
"Derek knew her sister". Scott looked at the ground than to Stiles.
"What? How?" Stiles asked and Scott shook his head.
"I don't know"
