Episode 5

Bio: During a horse race, grace encounters a ghost who is in need of her help in tracking her killer, But little does grace know that this ghost was holding back a deep secret

~ 180 Horse Race ~

The stadium was overcrowded with so many exciting people today.

Either they was here for the thrilled of watching different horses with unique abilities running against other horses  to win the race, or the people had bet a lump some of money on a particular horse.

Which ever way it goes for the others, was the same exact reason for my appearance here along with Andrew, gabby, Melissa, and Kent.

Money was involved.

No harm done right?

Andrew and kent mainly come out here with some of their good friends to compete on which horse they felt in their gut would win.

Nine times out of ten, Andrew usually wins.

The weather was rather nice and warm as the sun had no shame of making its presence known.

It's glorious rays shining on everyone's skin and face keeping us protected from the chilly winds that would invade from time to time.

" so boys how much you both put on those horses out there?" Melissa asked as she feed her mouth with fresh cut pineapples.

I looked over and all I could do was smiled as I glance down at her five month pregnant belly.

She wore a white dress accompany with her favorite color tan boots, and her wedding earrings that she never go without wearing.

" ah, me personal" Andrew said with a wicked smile " I put at least 3 stacks one lucky number 7"

My eyes quickly shot over at Drew as I never knew how much money he would bet on these type of races.

Usually I don't attend because of my work with the earth bound spirits, but the day I do go with the family my ears receive some very disappointing information.

" wha..what the hell Andrew" I scowled at him
" do you know how much we could spend on other important things with three thousand dollars?..."

I was ready to go on a rant spree until he shook his head laughing hysterically.

" babe, babe just hold on" he pleaded " Kent betting more than I did why don't you ask him for yourself Mel"

Kent began to cough uncontrollably while holding on to gabby in his lap.

" I mean, I  knew you guys spend money,  but I never knew that it went that high" I said with disbelief.

He lowered his head ashamed before looking over at me with sad puppy dog eyes.

"So, Kent spill the beans" Melissa spoke " how much you put down?"

" mommy" gabby whine as she hop off her uncle lap and headed towards me.

Embracing her into my arms everyone's eyes was still facing Kent as he was suddenly lost for words.

I could hear Andrew snickering behind me as I reach my hand back to hit his thigh.

" your not exempt from our discussion. You still have some explaining to do" I told him.

" well...ahh..." he said slowly getting to the point.

" go on, how much babe?, and stop procrastinating"

I giggle while looking back towards the race track but now stunned at the unfamiliar, and un expecting  figure standing two bleachers down from us.

I squinted my eyes before gabby started to tug at my shirt.

" what's wrong baby?" I asked still not taking my eyes off what it looks to be a female bleeding out badly.

" I see her. She's in pain"

" who is honey?"

Gabby use her small little fingers to point out in front of us in the same direction where I already took notice of the person.

" are you feeling bad right now sweetie?" I inquired

Gabby shook her curly piggytails indicating no but I couldn't say the same for me.

I continued to do what I always know how to do and that was..... breathe in and out slowly.

Feeling other people pain that have met there end in a tragic way was never a great feeling to feel.

The pain worsen as the spirit lowered her head as if she was taking a look at her chest.

For some reason I could feel myself doing that exact same thing as if we both was in sync to one another.

When I did I gasped as I saw a deep hole forming into my chest.

Andrew glance over for a small second before the sounds of the roaring crowds cheering for lucky number 7 took his attention back.

One was appearing in the lower part under my left breast as the other was forming on the upper left closer to my collarbone.

I than quickly lean a bit over as I was trying to catch my breath as I knew that one of the bullets struck my heart.

Just as I thought this was or had to have been the finally killed I could feel another hole appearing but towards the back of my head.

I reach my other trembling fingertips towards that hole that was in my head, and just when i brought my hand back I jump from the loud pops ringing in my ear.

Jolted up quickly from my seat gabby started to cry as she was seeing the same holes and blood that I was seeing.

Screaming wasn't even an option as the dark blood seeped out from my mouth.

" daddy, daddy its mommy she... she dying" gabby shouted while sprinted towards Andrew.

" huh?, sweetie what's going on?"

I just knew I was about to faint as the ghost made no attempt to wanted to stop me from feeling What she felt.

" this is what he had done to me." The she said with rage " This is the madness that comes with the life that I chose to live"

" Grace!....Grace!" Andrew shouted out.

" Melissa take gg for me" Andrew order before sweeping me up bridal style in his arms as I remain paralyzed.

I was absolutely positive that I wasn't breathing anymore.

My body felt lifeless in the arms of my lover,
As my eyes still remain open.

What hurt the most was seeing my babygirl crying in my sisters and kent arms.

I'm sure Andrew knew that he didn't want gg seeing me like this so he asked for them all to stay back.

Now alone in the parking lot he place me slowly on my back as the ghost was still hovering over my body.

Never in my line of work have I experienced a spirit this strong to have full control over my body the way this one has.

" Grace, come on baby,  I need you to fight.... Fight"

I remain in this awkward position like someone who just fell from a building landing In the most obvious way.

Like the ones you see in movies was a better way to put it.

" even though my voice was gone the spirit read my mind and knew what I was asking.

" what's your name?, i can help you"

She remain resilient at first, than she gave me what i wanted to hear.

I was desperate at this point I was in so much pain.

I wanted out.

" it's Rachel Crow"

" nice to meet you Rachel please can you take this horrible pain away. I can help you find the peace that your searching for"

She laugh that gave off much more. " what makes you think that I need your help to get my peace? You're just a human who could see people like me... but deal"

Tears wanted to fall from my eyes but I knew it wasn't going to change her mind at this point.

Hearing Andrew perform cpr on me while screaming for me to come back to him was so unsettling.

My heart couldn't take anymore of this.

" Rachel you're killing me.please just let me get back to my body. I have a family, look for yourself."

She glanced over to see everyone from the race meet now gather around Andrew as kent rushed to his side.

I could see gabby bawling her eyes out inside Melissa arms as she tried her best to hold back her own tears.

" I'll send you back, but on one condition" she gave an ultimatum

" what is that?"

" you have 24 hours to find my killer before I do because if not it won't just be me you'll be seeing and helping to cross over"

Like that Rachel was gone, and I was back inside my body now taking so much air that it felt like my head was going to explode.

" Grace, ohh Grace baby your back" Andrew embrace me tightly into his warm body.

My head was pounding as it was now pressed against Drew chest.

I could hear the appalling noise coming from all around us before Melissa and gabby made their way through the crowd to be with me.

" mommy, I was so scared" gabby said as she threw her body into my arms.

Moments later I was feeling the arms of Mel and Kent and all I could do was cry.

I had my family back and the feeling was unimaginable right now.

" what the hell happened?" Andrew asked furiously

I remain holding on to gabby before looking up into his eyes.

Without saying a word I could see his jaws clench, as his fist balled up, and a slow nod began to occur.

I knew he wanted revenge so badly but how when he can't even see.

" hey... I'm back now that's all that matter baby"

Taking my hands I gentle reach up to rub Andrew handsome face that was hovering over mines.

His lips than came pressing against mines and I didn't attempt to hold back even when half the crowd from the race meet was surrounding us still.

" I.... I couldn't..." he stumble

" Drew, I'm fine. Look at me"

His ocean blue eyes glared into mine eyes, but I knew it was straight into my soul.

"I'm fine" I assured.

" can we go now mommy. I have to draw her even though i don't want too" gabby said sadden.

" yes sweetie let's go home" i was drained after this encounter.

Now that the show was over i hugged mel and Kent goodbye before turning on my heels to go in the opposite direction with my family.

For a second I just knew that my world was ending.
