The Story of this Place
A bus road through the countryside, people were falling asleep on the bus, or just looking outside the window as the bus driver had the radio station person said, '-The Heartwarming story of Father Ansem and The Orphanage he manages has recently become hot news. This Orphanage, housing mostly sick or deaf children-'
" Momma!" A little girl with brown hair was looking at one of the passengers on the bus, and asked, " Why is she wearing a funny hat?" she asked, curious, as the Mother smiled and looked at the blue haired young woman her daughter was talking about, " Well~That's because she's a nun sweetheart." as the blue haired woman smiled hearing this conversation. " What's a Nun?" the little girl asked curious
" A nun is someone who serves God, and helps those in need." the mom explained as the blue haired woman gathered her things, getting ready to leave as she smiled at the little girl, who smiled back
As the bus slowed down, they heard the radio saying, ' What an inspiring story. Next on today's news-'
The bus stopped, as the nun got off the bus and saw her destination, after the bus left, " This must be it."
...
Five kids were looking through a window, as they saw the young blue haired woman with an older nun, both of them drinking tea, " It must have been a difficult decision to make...I am very grateful." the older nun told the blue haired girl. " As you already know, most of the children here are sick." she said, as the blue haired woman took a small sip of her tea, and the older nun got out a red book as the blue haired woman placed her tea onto the table
" Even though we've gotten some recent exposure due to our eccentric priest, there's a limit to how many donations that can bring." The older nun handed the blue haired woman the red book as she opened the book up, as the older nun kept explaining, " It's a struggle to keep the orphanage open..There just isn't enough for the children's medical care..it's so unfortunate those young children.."
As the blue haired woman flipped through the book, the older nun saw she was looking at a picture of a little boy who had silver hair and purple eyes, who looked rather shy, as the older nun told her sadly, " That child left us to meet with God 2 weeks ago.." as the blue haired woman frowned in sadness, the mood going sombor as it was quite sad, seeing a innocent child pass away so soon.
" Oh..that reminds me, I haven't seen Father Ansem yet. Has he gone somewhere today?" she asked, closing the book.
The older nun smiled a little bit as she placed her tea down and asked, " Would you like to meet him now?" she asked, making the blue haired nun surprised he was there.
...
They walked to a room and saw a man with silver hair praying beside a child who looked sick in bed. The blue haired woman couldn't hear what the blond man was saying, but she could tell he was praying.
" Father..." the older nun got the man's attention, as he looked up as the old nun said, "This is Sister Piri, she'll be helping us from now on." she told the pastor, as Piri looked at the man. He looked middle aged, with long silver hair and amber colored eyes.
" Ah...I'm sorry. I should have gone out to greet you first." he said, looking at Piri. " Ah, n-no. It's quite alright..." she told him.
The man looked at her closely, as he looked back at the child, and said, " She's gotten worse over the past few days." They walked outside of the room, as he talked to Piri, " She's suffering so much, but the doctors can't figure out what's wrong." he said, looking worried and sad. " I'm worried it may spread to the other children.." he told them
" You've been working tirelessly to care for her. I'm sure God will answer our prayers soon." the older nun told Ansem. " If this..is God's will then I suppose we must accept it." he said, sadly, as Piri and the elder nun looked sad, " My prayers must not be good enough...I'm so ashamed." he said, as they then heard the little girl throwing up in the room and coughing badly as Ansem ran back into the room.
" It's alright! I'm here now! It'll be fine!" he said as Piri covered her mouth, in shock and worry, as the child wheezed and coughed. " Father God will protect you!" he told her.
....
" Young Peko! Get back here!! You didn't finish your food again!!" another nun shouted, as Piri heard what was going on, as she saw a little girl with long silver hair running away from the table, she couldn't see the little girl's eyes as she ran, " Where are you going?! Get back here Peko Pekoyama!!" the nun shouted, as the girl ran as fast as she could.
" Every single time!" the other nun cried out, as Piri nervously laughed and said, " Stay here, I'll go get her." she told her, as she went after Peko, who was running down the halls and opened the doors outside to escape, " Peko! Young Pekoyama! Come back!" Piri called out to the girl, running after her.
As Peko ran down the stairs as fast as she could, she crashed into someone, as Piri watched in horror as an older man glared at the little girl, red eyes peeking through Peko's long silver bangs.
" Young Pekoyama! Peko are you ok?" Piri ran as fast as she could, and reached Peko, as she gently put a protective stance on the child just in case, " Can I help you? Who are you?" Piri asked, as Peko looked at Piri
" Oh Director Xehanort! I didn't realize you'd be stopping by." she heard Ansem's voice behind them, as she and Peko looked back and saw Ansem walking to them, as Xehanort growled lowly, " I see we have a new face around here." he said, as Ansem nervously laughed, " Yes..It's Sister's Piri's first day.." they saw him gulp a little, " Please, let's talk inside." he said
...
" You know these children are sick and helpless." Ansem said in a quiet voice as he talked to Director Xehanort. " Please find it in your heart to rethink your decision.."
" Does this really come as a surprise to you?! Why would we give you money to people who have never appreciated it?!" the nun's and children heard Xehanort's voice shout, " Do you remember how we came to your aid when you didn't have a single dime? THEN the newspapers insinuate hope fund unwillingly threw in some funds last minute. Where does that put me?!" he shouted, as the children flinched, scared.
" What did you do, father, when these articles were being published?! They never would have never been written if not for you!!!" the door slammed open as Xehanort spat out, " You ungrateful leech!!" he hissed, glaring at Ansem and the nuns, " Betraying our sympathy. Tsk- Just to get your 15 minutes of fame." he said, as he walked away.
" This place is meant for children to die anyways! Screw this unlucky orphanage!!!" he said, leaving the building, as Piri and the nuns came near Father Ansem who was on the ground, not saying anything.
" Father..are you alright?" A young teenager boy asked, as the older nun gently touched his shoulder, and asked the man, " Are you alright father?" she asked as Piri looked worried about the man," Oh my..." she said in a soft voice.
" Father, maybe we shouldn't accept their donations anymore..." the older nun said, as the teenager said, " There are alot of people willing to help thanks to you!"
" We don't need money from people like that!"
" Yes, Father! We can ask the neighboring towns for help!"
" No... Love...and support.." Ansem said in a quiet voice, as he looked down, "..do not last. It disappears like the wind. We take the money from our long-time partners...It's ok. We need all the help we can get. For our Children." as Piri looked at Ansem, her hand gripping into a fist.
The door slammed open, as they heard a crying teenage girl cry out, " Father-! Come quick!! Father!!" the teenage girl was crying, upset, " Father...Hope has...Hope has.."
They all ran to Hope's room and as Ansem gently put 2 fingers on her neck as the nun's were scared to death as they saw the Ansem crying then, as the nun's could only watch, as Piri stood at the doorway, gently covering her mouth, sad
" ...Joined our father in Heaven..."
....
Everyone was outside as they watched Father Ansem crying as he buried the body, everyone had tears in their eyes, the kids were sniffling, due to losing there friend, as Piri teared up as she reached a hand out for Father Ansem, as he sobbed but she slightly falter as he cried, but gently touched his shoulder, trying to give him some comfort.
The other nuns and kids saw how Sister Piri was trying to make Ansem feel better.
...
The older nun and Sister Piri watched as the bus left again and the older nun asked, " Is that the last of the funeral guests?" she asked as Piri told her, " Yes..how is Father Ansem holding up?" she asked.
" I'm worried..." the older nun held a hand out to feel the rain on her hand. " It's been 4 days since the funeral, and he's still like this.."
" He doesn't eat and holes himself up in the prayer room, he just prays all day and night...He's always like this. Last time, after Akemi's death, Hope's younger brother, he prayed for 5 days. He's getting a little bit better at least." the older nun sighed as she said, " Honestly..Who cares about money or donations when children are dying?" she asked to Piri
" Our poor priest....he's lived such an unfortunate life."
....
Piri sat across from Peko, as she had some porridge on a spoon and said with a bright smile, " Ah~" she said, as Peko stared at it, not saying anything. " You have to eat it to be healthy~" she said as Peko turned her head and ran off again, " Not again!! Stop right there!!" she called out, but Peko kept running anyways. " Not again..." Piri groaned, as she didn't notice who was behind her.
" That Pekoyama kid...she sure is hard to feed her, huh?" Piri heard behind her, as she turned around and said, " F-Father Ansem!" she said, in surprise when she saw him again. "...Are you ok now Father?" she asked, as he gave her a small smile. " I apologize if I made you all worry."
He sat down on the other side of the table, as Piri looked at the plate that held food for Peko before. " I'm really concerned...If she keeps skipping meals like that..." as Ansem leaned on his hand, " It worries me too.." he said, sounding very worried about Peko.
" I've never seen such a picky eater...I have no idea what she would eat.." she then got an idea and her hand slammed on the table, startling Ansem a bit as she brightly smiled, " I know! We've received a lot of donations lately! Why don't we order something special, like Pizza?!" she exclaimed.
" There's no kid who would say no to pizza! I bet Peko would even-"
" I'm sorry, but that's not going to happen." making her deflate a little. " You've seen that the donors frequently drop by without notice...and the media started watching us..Our donors won't be happy if they see our children eat such expensive food...They watch what we eat, what we wear, even the toy's we buy. The children can't have special treats like other kids..."
Piri frowned as she said, " That's nonsense though...our children are just like other's!"
" We only show mercy to those less fortunate. So we can't be special...We have to be less fortunate. That's the way to be loved."
Piri thought about his words, looking sort of down, as his hand then slammed against the table, startling her, as he smiled a bit more, " So!!"
He gave her a kind smile and said, " I know it's hard but let's try to improve the quality of what we have...okay?" he asked, making Piri smile a little, " Okay Father.." she said
....
' We have to be less fortunate. That's the way to be loved...if that was his goal all along...'
Piri was looking for Peko walking through the halls, when she found the little girl in a curled up position, by a door, as she heard Peko's stomach growl.
' Then you succeeded, you little rascal!'
Piri smiled as she said, " You~ You~ Little Rascal..!" she said, coming near Peko
Peko looked up as she saw Sister Piri coming near her, as Piri then heard her name being called, " Sister Piri! There you are Sister!"Piri looked back and saw a young man looking at her, sadly.
Piri ran as fast as she could to where she heard the news at, and Peko followed her, as Piri stood at the door with Peko, Ansem placed a blanket over the child that had passed away, another nun and caretaker saddened.
Father Ansem walked out of the room silent as he stood in front of Peko, before he bent down to her level and gently grabbed her shoulders, squeezing them a little tightly, " Please...Please eat...I'm BEGGING you." he cried as Peko looked at him in shock.
....
' Isn't this enough...we're losing more children than I thought we would...'
Piri held a candle with the other nuns, as Ansem said a prayer around the coffin, crying his heart out.
"Why does Father Ansem continue down this difficult path...even though he's in more pain than anyone else?" Piri asked the older nun. " Of course, not every orphanage is as depressing as it is here. But taking in sick children...That's Father Ansem's mission."
....
Peko sat across from Piri again, Piri had a determined look on her face. Peko turned her face slightly as Piri shook her head, taking a sigh, " Nope~! You promised to eat! You have to eat to become a strong kid!" Piri didn't know that Father Ansem was by the door, listening to everything she was saying and doing, lost in his thoughts.
' Father Ansem was also an orphan, so he understood their pain....as well as the pain of losing one's family....Even if his mother was constantly ill and bed ridden, and his alcoholic father. Relentlessly beat him during his miserable childhood.'
A younger Father Ansem was holding a little girl close, trying to protect her, as a stuffed bear was close by as the little girl was scared
' For him the children are a new family.'
Ansem walked away, being silent. Peko didn't look at Piri, " Hmph..." she said, as Piri sighed and said, " I knew you'd be like this, so..." Piri held out a package of bread for Peko to take. " Ta-da! This'll be our little secret, okay?" as Peko stared at the bread with longing as Piri grinned. Peko held out her hands as Piri handed her the bread, as Peko started eating the bread, hungry as Piri told her, " This is just for today-you have to eat your meals starting tomorrow!" as Peko was eating the bread, very hungry.
" You rascal...I think you're due for a haircut too..maybe I can style it too." she said with a small laugh.
' Father Ansem isn't worried about Peko just because she's a picky eater..'
" If I cut your bangs like this...Hold still!" Piri said, as she cut Peko's hair.
' Looking at Pekoyama...reminds Father Ansem of his own younger sister, Stella..'
" Oh no! What did I do! I'm so sorry! I'm not good at cutting hair and styling it!!" Piri cried out, feeling bad.
' Young Peko...'
" Is this okay...?" Piri asked, showing her a mirror. Peko looked at the mirror, seeing her hair in high pigtails in braids, and she could see her eyes again.
' Looks just like his dead sister.'
Peko moved the mirror down, her red eyes showing as she looked at Piri and nodded, " Yes."
.....
Flashback..
" What, you think being sick gives you a free pass? This Bitch just lazes around at home! Don't even think to clean up this pigsty!! Just 'cause you're halfway in a grave, you wanna send your husband too?"' A younger Ansem heard this, his eyes dull as he heard his father yell He had bruises on his face and arms, and was very skinny as well, wearing baggy clothes.
Ansem then felt a metal kettle hit his face which caused his head to split open, as his father shouted, " What are you staring at?!" his father yelled. Being a disrespectful little shit when your father is speaking!!! Just go get me more goddamn alcohol!!" he stormed past Ansem, angry and annoyed, as bottles scattered around them. " Son of a bitch is just like his mom!! Freaking Useless!!" as the father walked past Stella, as she held onto her bear tightly, scared crying, as Stella's big red eyes looked at Ansem, as Ansem grabbed the kettle as Stella cried scared, hearing their father scream and shout at their sick mother.
Ansem and Stella were at the table, looking at their food, as Ansem stirred his food, Stella just stared at it, not knowing if she should eat it.
" Stop picking at your food like a goddamn prick!!" their father kicked Ansem in the face, as Stella yelped as she got scared, as their father broke Ansem's nose and reopened the cut he had earlier back up again. Can't even be thankful for his food! You wanna be a walking corpse like your mom?!! Yea?!" their father didn't see Ansem grip his spoon as he lifted the spoon up to his mouth, as Stella didn't say anything, still looking at the food wearily. " You wanna keep making that face? This is all for your own good!!" he screamed, as Ansem could hear there mother coughing badly as she layed in bed.
" At least try to return just half the love your parents give you, you pricks! You don't even see the love your daddy is pouring trying to feed and house your sorry asses!!!" '
Flashback ends...Present time
" Please. Just another spoonful, okay?" Ansem asked, as nuns and the caretakers stood around a little boy's bed, as he didn't want to eat, since he wasn't feeling well. "
Ansem sighed as he said, " I know it's not very tasty but you have to eat to get better."Daiya turned his head still as he layed in bed, feeling bad physically and mentally.
" I'm begging you, Daiya." One nun begged, " I'm begging as well." the other nun said.
Daiya shut his eyes tightly as Ansem said, " Just one more bite and you'll get better.." he said, as Daiya gulped and took a bite, making everyone in the room smile. " Great job Daiya!" the first nun said. " Yes, we love good boys who eat well like this."
Ansem sighed in relief as he heard one of the caretakers say, " This all thanks to your hard work, Father Ansem."
As Ansem left the room holding the door, he heard running again as he heard Piri cry out, " Stop right there! You promised!!" she said, as he looked down at Peko who ran into him, on the ground, looking at her in shock, as he froze into place
Piri caught up to her and saw how Ansem wasn't moving or saying anything as he stared at Peko in shock, the bowl on the ground, the porridge on the ground as well. " F-Father!" she said, seeing Ansem not moving.
" You...You!" was all Ansem could say, as Peko looked at him, watching him closely.
Piri nervously laughed as she said, " F-Father Ansem! It's Peko Pekoyama! You must have not recognized her because of the way her hair is styled and her bangs were cut..." she said.
Piri looked at Peko and asked, " Are you alright Peko?" she asked, as Peko didn't respond, as Ansem looked at her in fear, like he had seen a ghost. He held his forehead, as he took deep breaths and said, " Ah...please excuse me.Pekoyama...is she hurt..?" he asked, as Peko was concerned about him. " Father...are you alright?" she asked, worried.
She then saw the mess on the ground, and said, " A-Ah! I'll clean this up!" she said, and looked at Peko and looked back, " Pekoyama doesn't seem to be hurt either...please don't worry and go rest!" she said
He took a sigh as he pinched the bridge of his nose and said, "I'm very sorry..I must be a bit tired lately."
....
" Phew.." Piri sighed, as she cleaned the mess up, Ansem and Pekoyama had left as she picked up the broken plate. " I'm gonna need something to wipe this up..."
She stood up as she saw the porridge on her hands, " Eww...it's on my hands.." she muttered. She looked to her left and right and saw not a lot on her hand, and said, " Well whatever. This much will be fine." she licked it off, before she spit it out in disgust. " What is this awful taste?!" she cried out.
....
Peko was drawing a picture on the ground with a small rock when she heard running as she looked behind as she saw Piri running somewhere as she ran after her.
" Sister Piri?" one of the cooks asked, confused of why Piri was in the kitchen as she asked, " Was this Daiya's porridge?" she asked, as the cook said, " Eh?...yes.." none of them saw Peko peaking into the kitchen.
Piri tried it, trying to see if it still had it tasted horrible. But...
' This tastes fine though....then what was it that I tasted before?' she asked, covering her mouth though. " Sister Piri, is there something wrong?" the cook asked, confused
" Um...no...must be my imagination.." she told the cook
As she opened the door, she saw Peko standing looking at her, she was confused of why she was standing there. " Huh.? Peko, what are you doing here?" she asked.
" Did you eat the porridge too, sister?" she asked her, " Then..." Piri was in shock of what Peko said next
" Does sister gotta lay down too?"
....
' All my friends who eat the porridge go lay down.'
' What does that mean..?' Piri though, as she opened the door to kitchen again later on
' You can't eat the porridge the Father gives you.'
She overheard a conversation between another nun and a different cook. " This is Yui's porridge, right? What a waste....she barely touched it." the cook sighed, " What can we do...she's been so sick, we're going to have to throw it out." the nun said, handing it to the cook.
" At least she ate a little more than yesterday..." the cook said.
The cook then cried out, "My goodness! The food is burning!!" the nun and her ran off, as Piri walked to the bowl that held the porridge in it.
' Sister Maria. Is there something wrong?' she remembered she asked a nun earlier, and her question was, ' Who brings the food...'
She could feel her heart beating faster than normal as she looked down at the food, as she grabbed the spoon, and saw the mixture was watery.
'...to the children?'
'..Why....
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
'.It's our Father Ansem of course.'
Piri dropped the spoon as she threw up, feeling sick to her stomach as she realized what was in the food at that moment.
....
Father Ansem held a bowl as he held a book and a cross as he got ready to give food to one of the sick children. Behind his back, a bag of salt was open, after he mixed it into the porridge.
...
Piri raced to where the sick children were at and saw the older nun with one of the cooks with Father Ansem as she held her arms out to stop them, " Please wait!" she said, making them pause.
" Oh my...Sister Piri?!" the older nun cried out, surprised she was stopping them, as Piri's face was deathly pale.
" That porridge is for Luna, isn't it?" she asked Ansem, looking dead at him
"...It is...is there a problem?" Ansem asked, wearily.
" I think the porridge might be undercooked. May I check if it's been cooked properly?" she asked him, getting his attention, as he froze for a moment before he regained his posture.
" I'm not sure what brought this on, but I've checked the porridge." he said, taking a step back to protect the food. " I've brought it myself."
" What are you doing Sister Piri?! Apologize to Father Ansem immediately!!" the older nun cried out at her, as Piri said, " No!! I have to check the porridge!!" she said, as Ansem took another step back. " This food is for a sick child..! I cannot allow even a small possibility of contamination!"
Piri ran to him and tried grabbing the food, as Ansem said, " You can check next time!" he said, as Piri shouted at him, " What are you trying so hard to hide?!" she shouted, as he tensed up again and dropped the food, as Piri stared in horror
" Sister Piri! Are you out of your mind?! What is the meaning of this?!" the elder nun shouted, as Piri looked at her hands, as she saw it was the same exact food she saw earlier when she realized the truth.
" Father, are you alright?!" the cook asked, as the older nun came near Piri angry, " Piri!! Why are you acting like this?!!" she asked the blue haired woman.
" We'll clean this up so you can relax a little...I'm sorry I really am-" the cook said, before they heard Piri's cries, " Please listen to me!!" she pleaded, as the cook and Ansem looked back and Ansem's breath caught in his throat as Piri pinned the older nun to the ground to get her to taste the porridge. " Taste it!! It's salty!!" she said, trying to show the older nun,
" Sister Piri!!" a different nun cried out, as 2 of them tried to get her off the older nun. " Stop this!! Please get a hold of yourself!!"
....
" My goodness...treating Father Ansem like that!" one of the caretakers said, " Maybe she's unstable from seeing so many children die..." one of the nuns said, as Peko listened to what they were saying.
" But...do you think the porridge really was salty?" the cook asked, as the nun said, " That's nonsense, even if it was, it must have been her own hands that were salty."
....
As Piri packed her things into her suitcase, as tears welled up in her eyes, angry and upset, as Peko was at the door, as Piri thought to herself
' I can't stay at a place like this for even one more day!' she thought, deep in her anger as she then heard Peko's voice.
" Sister Piri- Sister are you leaving?" she asked, as Piri looked at the little girl and the tears fell down, this time tears of sadness
" Then we can't see each other anymore?" Peko asked, as she cried and hugged Peko, " How could I leave with you here!!?" she cried, upset.
....
Piri stood at the door where Father Ansem stood, watching her emotionlessly.
" I came here due to your reputation...but I think I was mistaken." She stood strong, as she held her suitcase as she looked at him coldly and anger was clearly showing on her face, he then asked, " Are you leaving?"
" When you said we must be less fortunate in order to be loved..is this what you meant?" she asked him as she cried out, " Father, something like this isn't love! This sort of love..! Giving or receiving..! This isn't the love God taught us! This is a crime!!"she said, as she turned on her heels as she left, storming off. " I'm going to make an official report to the Parish!"
As she walked out the 2 main doors, she called out to him, " Just you wait!! I'm going to make sure you don't run this orphanage anymore!!" she promised him. She took deep breaths as she calmed down a little, as she looked back and thought, ' Please wait for me children. I'll save you as soon as I can..I promise.' she said, as she turned back, sighing
She then felt like time froze for a moment, as she felt someone push her from behind, as she screamed in horror as she fell down the stairs, as Ansem stood at the top of the stairs looking at her in horror.
She laid at the bottom of the stairs, in front of Mary's statue, birds flying over them, her suitcase opened up and all the contents were around her, as her reports and clothes were everywhere, as blood came from her head.
Ansem just smirked, a dark look on his face
...
" Did you hear? You know, Sister Piri!"
" Seeing so many children die has been getting to her and she's been getting to her and she's been quite unstable lately....And she fell off the middle of the stairs in the middle of the night! I heard she's in a vegative state now."
" Oh no, so then what happened?"
" Well, that poor helpless soul..."
Piri layed in bed, as the other nuns saw Ansem by her bed, smiling a little bit, his eyes closed.
" Is being taken care of by the generous Father Ansem. He truly is a living saint."
Ansem spoke in a soft voice, as he said, " In the end...you came back" Piri laid still, unable to move or speak, her eyes were glazed over, a dull look in them"...unable to leave this place."
Piri had tears well up in her eyes again, in horror and sadness, but the other nuns mistook the tears, " Look! Sister Piri is crying! It's thanks to our Father Ansem! She's responding to his devotion!!"
....
Piri heard the door open, as she felt the moon's light on her, as she heard Ansem's voice, " You seem to be having some misconceptions about this place, so I came here to tell you." he told her, holding a candle, as he sat next to her bed
" There were many people who came to donate because of how unfortunate the children were...." he then smirked slightly, as he shut his eyes" However, it's not about how ' Unfortunate the Children are'."
It's about how they receive Father's love and how they give love. I..!" he opened his eyes when he heard one of the floorboards creak, and saw a familiar little girl with silver hair and red eyes staring at him
"...You. It's you again."
They were silent for a moment as Ansem said, " Piri must have been very nice to you. Perhaps like a mother would be." he tilted his head a little, as he told the girl. " Asking unnecessary questions I suppose?"
Peko said nothing at first, but then asked, " Are you the one...who made Sister Piri sick?" she asked, as Ansem stared at her, " Like the other kids?"
Ansem sighed and asked, " Do I look like a bad person to you?" he stood up, walking to the silver haired girl, as Peko stood her ground, looking up at him, " You can think that if you want to. " But I want you to know..." Ansem stood right in front of her, and told her,"..you look disgustingly like my little sister." he had a dark look on his face, a smirk on his face. " Like me."
Flashback...
" I just can't believe this!! No!!" a male voice cried out, " My dear sister!!" he cried, as a female voice cried, as they looked at a picture of Ansem's and Stella's mother's " How can you go now? How can you leave us so soon?!" she cried as the brother cried, " You never had a chance to live happily!" he pointed at their father, " YOU!!! You killed my sister!!" he shouted
" WHAT?! Does crazy run in your family?! Why are you blaming me for her dropping dead?!" their father shouted at the brother. Ansem and Stella were dressed in formal clothes, as Ansem looked distant, while Stella was crying, upset.
" You must be Mizuko's son and daughter...still so young..'' They looked up when they saw a woman and man looking at them with sympathy. " You poor children..." the male said, as they gave them hugs to try and make them feel better.
' It was at my mother's funeral that I felt the warmth of a loving embrace for the first time. It didn't last very long, but it was wonderful...and then...'
" How can this be?!! Brother!!" a sister to their father cried out, as there father's picture was hanging up
' Soon after, when my father suddenly passed away..'
" You poor things! How are you going to keep doing this?" a woman asked, hugging them again
' That warmth I had felt before..'
" How can your parents do this to you?!" as Ansem hugged the woman
'..came back.'
' And then it disappeared again, as quickly as it came.'
Both Ansem and Stella stood at the orphanage, as Stella held her bear close while holding Ansem's hand.
' I didn't know how to bring the warmth back...'
As Ansem walked past people, he heard someone say, " So my brother's illness finally got the best of her... Family is the most painful thing."
' Mother's death...Father's death..and for me...'
Ansem looked over at his little sister
' There was still one last chance.'
" Ansem...I don't want to eat..Why do I have to eat it?" Stella asked
" Eat! What will the adults think if you don't eat your food?" Ansem asked darkly, " So eat!"
He forced the salty porridge into Stella's mouth, as she cried, " This is for your own good."
" They'll only like you if you eat."
Stella wheezed for breath, as she layed in bed, people surrounding her in worry
' Stella suffered for a few days before dying. It was definitely the most attention and love she had received in her life.'
The stuffed bear hit the ground, as Stella's hand went limp.
' The overflowing sympathy and love towards her all came back to me..'
Ansem was crying, as people surrounded him, trying to comfort him as he cried. Ansem then threw another bag of salt to the trash, staring at it.
'....and left again. I honestly thought that warmth would never return.'
" The Father's love will be with you, my brothers and sisters." he heard, turning his head as he saw nuns and a priest talking in front of a church
' Until I made a new family.'
Flashback ends...
Ansem stared at Peko, as she looked at him," Do you know why no one suspected me when you refused to eat?" he asked, but she didn't respond. " Because you were like this from the moment you came to this place. Long before you knew my secret, you were acting like this. Just for attention..." he said, an unsettling grin on his face.
" In the end..." he held out a hand, and Peko could see the salt that he held, as it went through his fingers. " You're just like me."
She looked at him in horror as he told her, " At first..I really thought my dead sister had come back to life!! I just knew that you were a person who craved love and attention above all..." the grin went into a small smirk as he asked, " Am I wrong?"
' He was right...we were all living off of the love and attention he received. The sick ones were showered with so much love before they left to meet God, I couldn't believe it. Honestly....there were times I was jealous.'
" A LOVE THAT BRINGS US CLOSER TO THE HEAVENLY FATHER!! CAN YOU TRULY DENY THAT LOVE?!!! THIS WORLD IS ONLY FILLED WITH PAIN!!! ISN'T IT BETTER TO MEET OUR LORD AND SAVIOR AS SOON AS WE CAN?!" he asked, the grin was back, as he started to laugh, " THOSE WHO LEAVE HAVE THEIR LOVE IN HEAVEN, WHILE I HAVE MINE RIGHT HERE!!! THINK ABOUT LIFE IN MY PERSPECTIVE!!!! YOU TOO CAN BE LOVED AS I AM LOVED!!!! FOREVER!!!"
' There's a cost to that love.'
An older version of Peko with a guy with blond hair and dull yellow eyes next to her, " How long are we going to be in this shit hole Peko?" the guy asked, and she looked at him, pushing her glasses back up, " Not too long Master Fuyuhiko...just want to pay my respects to a mother figure I had when I was younger..." she told him
She placed some flowers by a grave that had Piri's face on it. " It's been awhile, Sister Piri.." she said, as Fuyuhiko went silent, knowing she wanted to be respectful.
' Sister Piri didn't live long after the Father hurt her...Before she passed, the volunteers who believed Sister Piri's words....'
News articles talking about the 2 face priest and how Ansem poisoned people
' Exposed Father Ansem to the world. The Orphanage was shut down...and as for Father Ansem?'
He stood at the top of a building and fell from it, taking his life as he landed on the ground a smile on his face as he lay dead.
" AHH!!!!"
' Even as he took his last breath....'
" He just jumped!!!"
" AHHHH!!"
" 911!! Someone call an ambulance!!"
' He received the sympathy of others.'
" I managed to find a family that cares about me....they took care of me all these years...I wish you were here...I could show you Fuyuhiko then...I think you might have liked him." she said with a small smile as Fuyuhiko looked at her, a small blush on his cheeks, " We should be going now though...I promised his parent's we'd be at the academy soon..." she said, smiling a little bit
" Finally, ready to go Peko?" Fuyuhiko asked, as she nodded, " Yes...let's go." she said, as they walked to the bus and got on, making there way to Hope's Peak Acadamy.
