Chapter 1
5 years later...
"I did not think this box would be this heavy," Yeona said to herself under her breath as she pushed the box all the way to the bedroom. She had divided her belongings into a lot of boxes in order for them not to give her any trouble with her carrying them. However, this one was still too heavy for her and thus, she had no other choice but to push it.
Her parents were supposed to help her but something came up for them at work and they could not avoid it. She did not want to tell her boyfriend about this as he was at his parents' house and she was sure that he would go quickly to help her. The latter was the exact reason she did not want to tell him; she would feel guilty for interrupting his time with his parents even though they would understand and he would not mind helping her.
You may ask; was she moving?
This was Yeona's second year at University and she decided to move into an apartment closer to it. She had not wanted to move as an eighteen-year-old as she had felt like more time had been needed before living alone.
At University she met her lovely boyfriend, Jungkook, who made sure to always treat her like a princess. He knew about how much she loved Jimin and thus, he tried his best to fill her heart with warmth just like her brother used to do.
Jungkook was a year older than Yeona. They met in the University's cafeteria when Yeona had too much too carry as she was trying to hold some of her books and the baguette she had bought at the same time. Eventually, she ended up dropping her books and Jungkook happened to witness this and went up to her to help her. As soon as they made eye contact and their faces were close to each other, both of them could feel their heart starting beating faster and their cheeks warming up. It was from that moment onwards that a relationship between them started to bloom.
As Yeona finally managed to put all the boxes where she wanted, she breathed out a sigh of relief. I did not expect moving out would be like this, she thought.
She took a look around her bedroom. The bed was surprisingly big; pretty similar to her own bed back at home. Yeona decided to lie down on it while continuing to study the room. To the bed's right side was a cute bedside table and a large lamp resting on it. She looked at the other side, where a desk and its respective chair were present underneath the window which she lifted her eyes to look at.
The view outside the window was breathtaking for Yeona. A lot of people would find cities uncomfortable but she had always loved them and the bustling sounds that they came with. This was especially at that moment and onwards since she was going to live alone. She could see skyscrapers at a far distance and noticed that they looked as if they were touching the clouds.
Yeona diverted her eyes back to her room.
White walls.
She then had a sudden flashback of a memory she did not want to relive. The hospital's white walls were still vivid in her mind, as well as what had happened there. Her heart sank as she remembered Jimin lying lifelessly on his hospital bed and barely having the strength to talk. It had been five years since his demise and even though quite a long time had passed, Yeona still did not heal from it. She had lost him too early. Indeed, only things and photos remained of him and they helped her to ease her grief a little bit. She still had their pictures together saved on her phone and there was not a day when she missed taking a look at them before going to sleep.
It was like the solution to not having Jimin read to her before dozing off. Even though he used to read to her before going to sleep, she was also used hear his singing voice every morning. Despite him not being alive anymore, Yeona could still hear him singing in her head as if he was right beside her and because of that, she never had a bad morning ever again.
That was when she realised that she had planned to do something after carrying the boxes into her apartment. She had taken the habit to visit Jimin's grave every week at the cemetery and whispered the events that would have happened to her that week. She obviously knew that he was not going to hear her but it gave her solace, as she would feel that he was right in front of her while listening to her attentively.
The cemetery was not too far from her apartment so she decided that she should go there by foot. As she was about to climb down the stairs of the apartment block, she received a message. Her face lit up as soon as she realised that it was from Jungkook.
Koo 🥰♥️:
Yeooo! I've just got out of my parents' house; are you in your apartment? 💕
Yeona:
I am 💓 But I was about to head to the cemetery
Koo 🥰♥️:
With your parents, I assume?
Yeona:
Oh, no..my parents couldn't come because something came up at work
Koo 🥰♥️:
Wait..so you carried all those boxes by yourself without any help? 😮 Yeona, you should have called me!
Yeona:
But I would have felt guilty if I told you while you were at your parents' house 😕
Koo 🥰♥️:
You know that my parents would have understood! Look, stay at your apartment. I'll pick you up, go to the cemetery together and then come back to the apartment and unpack together. How does that sound? ❤️
Yeona:
Perfect ❤️
Koo 🥰♥️:
Yeona
Yeona:
Hm?
Koo 🥰♥️:
Please tell me whenever you need help
Koo 🥰♥️:
I would move mountains for you; let alone help you 💗
Yeona:
(⊃。•́‿•̀。)⊃♥
Koo 🥰♥️:
( ˘ ³˘)♥
And with that, Yeona climbed down the stairs and started waiting for Jungkook at the apartment block's front door.
