Chapter 3

3rd Person POV

"Just...hold the torch up a tad bit to the left..."

"My arm is literally about to fall off, Jay!"

Jay gritted his teeth as he screwed on the new lightbulb into the socket. Letting out a sigh, he glanced over at his wife, "Try it now."

Reaching over, Nya flicked the switch. The light flickered, before coming alive, letting off a sickly, bright light, illuminating the shadows of the large items in the room. She switched the torch off before heading down, skipping over the broken step.

Jay peered around the basement, "We've got some pretty cool stuff in here! We may not have to make constant runs to the furniture store..." His voice trailed off as he traced a finger along the dusty furniture.

Nya took in her surroundings. The majority of the items were covered in large, white sheets, which were caked with dust and cobwebs. She let out a cough as she pulled off one of the sheets, revealing a piano in seemingly good condition. She beamed, "Jay, d'you think the baby would wanna learn piano in the future?"

Jay was busy paying attention to an old gramophone, a box of albums right beside it, "Mm...I was thinking disco, but we could consider piano. There's some pretty cool stuff in here, don't you reckon? How much do you think we'd get if we sold it?"

Nya giggled, "Just keep it out of Kai's way. He's a hoarder!"

"I could tell. I mean, who has a room dedicated to hair products?"

"Kai!" Nya's brother had a habit of storing up random items, and he was proud of it. It'd come to the point where Skylor had taken to sneaking out his collection bit by bit, just to sell them or dump them, purely because they were either broken, or just had no use.

She glanced at the shelf, brimming with books. The ones bound in leather, with the off-white pages. Reaching up, she gingerly took one, opening it to the first page. There it was, written in neat cursive:

Diary of Montgomery Garmadon

Below it was a black-and-white picture of a middle aged man, dressed in a neat suit, his greying hair slicked back. She turned the page, and her eyebrows raised with surprise, as each page was filled with writing, all the way to the end.

They must have been big on writing back then. She picked out another book, similar to the first.

Diary of Wu Garmadon

The picture consisted of another black-and-white photo of another man, his face serious, as he stared at the camera. He too, was wearing a suit.

She flipped through the pages, and stopped as a small picture fluttered out, falling to the wooden grounds. Setting the diaries aside, she carefully bent down, picking up the photo. It was a coloured photo of a beautiful woman, with long maroon-grey hair in a side braid, and glasses. Standing next to her was a man who seemed to be in his early twenties, with tousled blonde hair and a charming smile. On the back it said:

Misako Garmadon and Lloyd Garmadon - taken in 1978

Dang, this was old. Misako would be long gone and Lloyd? He'd be old enough to be in a care home right about now. Perhaps he's in the one nearby?

Ooh! Perhaps she could go down there one day, and see him. Perhaps he could tell her about the origins of this house! Nya had always been a big history nerd, and loved learning about the past.

She was so deep in her mind she didn't even realise Jay had been calling after her for the past few minutes.

"Nya? Nya? Babe, I'm heading up again to make lunch! I'll leave the door unlocked so you can come at your own time!"

Blinking, she left the books and picture on the floor, before speeding to the entrance, hightailing it up the stairs and through the door, just as Jay was about to head into the kitchen. He turned around, and his face lit up, "There you are! What do you want for lunch?"

Why is this so late lmao. SO! How's everyone?

Can anyone else believe the nerve on Boris to blame us when it was his decision to open schools? "Remember, Rule Of 6!" Well, that's not exactly possible in a school, is it, Boris?

I'll try and update more often, I just haven't been bothered to do anything yet, school is taken up the majority of my time, and I only have the weekends in which my parents want me to be studying in due to GCSEs.

I've been watching this show on BBC iPlayer, called 'Noughts and Crosses,' and it's really good! It's inspired by a book written by Malorie Blackman!

K, baii!
