Chapter 1
3rd Person POV
Jay had left to run some errands, leaving Nya behind. She decided to explore the house to cure her boredom. The place was huge, and there's no doubt that the couple would get lost without a proper look-around.
The walls definitely needed a scrub, as did the kitchen counters, and the floors could use a good mopping too. There were also a few repairs that needed to be made. Thank FSM, her parents-in-law owned a scrapyard; there were bound to be some bits and bobs that they needed.
The couple had so many plans for their home. They had ideas for a home-library, a pool in the garden, a home office, and we can't forget the nursery for their unborn king or queen.
Nya couldn't help but be a tad bit suspicious when Jay had excitedly told her the price. A house this big had such a low price, but they were desperate, so they went ahead and bought it.
It was quite chilly too, and they wouldn't be having hot water for a few days either. Nya rubbed her arms, in failed attempts to warm herself up as she headed upstairs. The floors creaked with every step she took, as she glanced around the landing. She entered one of the rooms, which she assumed was the master bedroom. There was an en suite for it, and she had to admit, the windows were pretty.
There was a built in wardrobe, with plenty of room, which was perfect. Probably because she'd use it to store a load of scrap materials from tinkering with inventions rather than clothes.
She could hear the squeaky pipes from the basement, even from two floors up. Sighing, she headed back downstairs, and went to the second flight, leading to the basement.
Opening the door, she peered in. It was pitch black, and the pipes were louder. Lightly touching the walls, she felt for the light switch, before locating it as she flicked it. Nothing. The light bulb probably needed replacing. Pulling her phone out, she used the torch and shone it around from the entrance. It was pretty basic, quite eerie, with lots of old furniture covered in cobwebs, and a very large mirror.
Taking a step forward, she used a foot to find the first stair, before slowly descending, one hand on her phone, the other on her stomach.
She let out a gasp as the stair broke, and she fell back, quickly grabbing onto the railing.
"Shoot..." She fumbled around in the darkness for her phone, eventually locating it at the edge of the stairs, as she accidentally knocked it off. The phone fell landing with a loud thud on the floor of the basement.
As of right now, she had two options; wait for Jay to come home to help her...or go down and fetch it herself. And if you think for a second that she was going with Option 1...you clearly haven't watched enough Ninjago.
Gripping onto the railing, she cautiously stepped down, checking thoroughly to make sure the stairs were steady each time until she reached the ground. Straightening up, she went around behind the stairs, before carefully kneeling down and looking around. Eventually her eyes adjusted to the darkness, as she felt the small shape of the phone. Picking it up, she winced as she saw the crack in the screen (I don't have a case or screen protector on my phone, and the amount of times I have dropped it, and it hasn't even cracked-)
Standing up, she shone the torch around, scanning the room. She and Jay would definitely have to go through this stuff tomorrow.
A deep groan emitting from the pipes caused her to jump, as she immediately headed back upstairs, nearly tripping over the broken step.
She arrived back on the main floor, closing the basement door behind her, as she sunk to the ground, running a hand through her hair, breathing heavily.
A louder noise from the pipes echoed throughout, and Nya scooted away from the door as far away as possible.
When was Jay coming back?!
