.3. Answers lead to more questions

Libitina placed her siblings down at benches on what seemed to be a bridge over a cute little pond. They were all exhausted, each of them noticed how Libitina didn't have a scratch. "How are you perfectly fine?" The question had come from Luther, clearly curious.

"None of them even attempted to fight me, probably because it sounds like I existed I this timeline and was a sparrow. The real question is, where am I now?" She asked to no one in particular.

Everyone had scattered around the five benches by now. "Well, that didn't go well." Diego stated the obvious, a plan formulating in his head.

"Yeah, not our best work." Five responded, Klaus laid stretched out over one of the tables, his bones cracking wit ever twist he took.

"You alright?" Allison asked Luther, who seemed stuck in his head.

"I don't know yet." Came his breathy response, ignoring the look Libitina sent him.

She had clearly seen his interaction with Sloane earlier before she got them out of there, but he also knew she would never tell a secret that wasn't hers to share.

"I've just never had my ass handed to me before. It's like here you go," he makes a platter like motion with his hands "It's your ass."

"Okay, I think Luther's concussed." Allison said, her hand patting Luthers back softly.

Libitina's spiraling train of thought was put to a halt with Five threatening to punch them in the throat if they say 'Dickhead'

"Dickhead." The siblings spoke, one after the other.

"Dad was so repulsed by us back in Texas, that he adopted an entirely different group of children. Just so that he didn't have to raise us." Klaus explained after Diego asked him what dad told him.

"So he just didn't want us anymore?"

"Did he ever?"

"See I told you we shouldn't have asked him for help in sixty three." Luther said, taking a chance to say 'I told you so.'

Diego sighed "Hey, wait a minute. They knew Libitina. Why did dad adopt her and not us?" The question had come from Viktor.

"Because, Libitina wasn't with us when we saw dad, meaning he didn't know of her existence in our original time line." Five explained.

"That means, we could use Libitina as our in." Diego said.

"Absolutely not." Libitina immediately shot the idea down "I'm not going to use Ben like that."

"He's not our Ben, He's dickhead Ben, who almost killed us!" Diego argued.

"He might not be our Ben, but He is still Ben! He is still the love of my life! I'm not going use him for your stupid plan!" She snapped, standing up from her spot on one of the white picnic table benches.

"Where are you going?" Allison called after the woman who was making her way back to the sparrow academy.

"I am going to see if I can at least be in, what was supposed to be, my daughter's life, because I am not going to miss my one chance at having what I always wanted." The blonde responded to her sister "Even if it's not technically mine." The last part was spoken to herself.

Making her way around, back to the front of the academy, Libitina knocked on the door.

She was greeted by Alphonso opening it and all but throwing himself onto her "I thought you left us!" He exclaimed, having thought they officially lost the blonde girl for a second time.

Libitina laughed "Sorry, but you were kinda kicking my families ass. I needed to get them out of there as fast as I could." She responded to the hug, granted she wasn't one for physical contact such as hugs, but she made an exception every one in a while.

He ushered her into the academy, Where he formally introduced her to everyone, some were still tense around her for obvious reasons, and others; like Jayme and Sloane, greeted her with a warm welcome.

Marcus greeted her with a 'Nice to see you again.' to which she responded politely.

"So, what are you doing here?" Fei was the one to speak, clearly questioning the girls motives, despite having seen her clear refusal of using them, especially Ben.

"I'm actually here to get to know the young girl who called me mom, because while I may not be your me, but I still want to be there for her." She explained honestly, her eyes connecting with Ben's who was watching her with a warm but pain filled gaze.

"I'll take you to her." Sloane was holding her arm out for Libitina to take, which she did.

The women linked arms and began walking through the halls of the academy, that Libitina knew like the back of her hand.

They came to the outside courtyard area, revealing the figure of a a four year old girl humming softly in a flower covered area of the court yard.

Sloane left and Libitina made her way over to the girl, sitting down next to her, softly taking her hands into her own and helping her make the looped knot on the flower stem.

"Now take this one," she paused pointing at the other step, to which the girl grabbed "and softly pull it through the loop." She instructed, watching her follow her instructions

She smiled as the girls face seemed to light up with Joy, at being taught how to make the knot properly.

Libitina could feel a gaze burning into her, she didn't need to turn around to see who it was, she knew but she turned anyway.

Her eyes once again locking onto Ben's, while his face seemed cold to others, she had always been able to read him like an open book.

She guesses it doesn't matter what variant of Ben it was, because their eyes gave him away all the same.

"I know that you're my mom, but not my mom." The voice of the girl pulled her gaze away from Ben.

"Well, aren't you intelligent." Libitina responded, picking out some flowers and joining in one the flower crown making process.

"Yeah, well I don't get it from my dad." The girl said, sass rolling off every word.

"Don't I know that." Her response was completely honest, making both girls laugh. For once, in Libitina's life everything felt right.

"Where is your ring?" It was an innocent question on the young girls part.

"What ring?" Genuine curiosity was filling Libitina's tone.

"Your wedding ring." She stated to the woman that was her mom from a differently same timeline

"I'm not married, Sweetie." Libitina answered, her voice held a twinge of sadness, knowing she would probably never get to experience a wedding with the life she lived.

"Oh, in your timeline, you never married dad?" The girl tilted her head as she finished the flower crown.

"No, I never got the chance." Libitina's voice was sorrow filled, quickly leaving when the girl reached up and placed the flower crown on her head.

"You look beautiful, like a princess." The girl complemented, making a smile come across Libitina's face.

"Well, I would never be a prettier princess than you." Libitina said, placing the flower crown she made on the girls head as the girl smiled up at her.

"Hey, it's time for your classes, little bird." Fei was the one calling her to her classes. She waved goodbye to Libitina and ran over to her aunt, who picked her up.

Libitina stood, wiping the dirt off her shorts.

She made her way back into the Academy, going up the staircase, her eyes catching onto a framed photo.

She walked over and picked up the photo from the table, in the photo stood Ben and Her. She was dressed in a black wedding dress and Ben was in a matching tux.

"Good to know my sense in wedding dresses never changed." She spoke to no one, or so she thought.

"That was one of the best days of my life." The voice caused her to whirl around, never dropping the photo in her hand.

"So, we were married?" Libitina asked Ben, who made his way over, gently taking the photo from her and placing it down.

"Yes, for six year." He responded.

"I'm glad one of us got to be happy." She said, her voice was soft, like if she talked any louder the connection between them in that moment would break.

"What, You weren't happy?" He asked, curious to know. It was hard for him to keep his guard up around her, She was exactly like his wife, it was his instinct to let himself be who he truly is around her.

"I never got this, I never got to get married to my Ben, Or have a daughter. Your me, got everything I wished I could have my whole life, and the universe fucked me over." She responded, letting go of a breath she didn't know she was holding once he backed away from her form.

"What happened? To your Ben, if you don't mind me asking?" Ben asked, the woman who took a deep breath, if there is anytime to face her past, why not do it with someone who looks exactly like them?

"He died when we were fifteen. They told me it happened on a mission, a mission I wasn't allowed to go one because I was to dangerous." She spoke, they were walking now, up to the roof, lost in conversation.

"I could have save him, if I had just fought harder to go on that stupid mission, Maybe him and I would have got a happy ending." She continued.

Ben looked at her, sympathy covering his eyes, it was gone just as fast as it came. "And what happened to you? After he died?" Coming to stand on the roof, he held the door open for her.

"After his death I left the Academy. Completely disappeared from everyone's raider. Anytime they came close to catching anything that could lead to me, I would run, they couldn't find someone who never wanted to be found. It wasn't until, our version of dad died, that we were all reunited." She explained, she didn't know why she was being so open about what happened.

Maybe it was because he still looked like her Ben, Maybe it was because of how he looked at her like she was the only thing that existed.

"My turn to ask a question." Libitina stated.

He was expecting it to be something personal, which he would deny answering because while she looked and acted like his wife, she still was not the same woman he married.

"What's her name?" The question was simple, not even about him, but still caught him off guard.

"Melora." He answered making a soft giggle escape Libitina's mouth.

"What?" He asked with a small grin, he always did love the sound of her laugh.

"My, You always said if he had a daughter that would be her name. I guess some things never change, huh?" She said, looking over the small wall down at the busy city.

"Yeah, Some things never change." He said quietly, watching her eyes shine with the familiar lights of the city, nostalgia hitting him like a truck.

This always was their spot, in any universe. Any timeline. Any reality. They would always be at that spot together.

PADDIE NOTES: So, What do we think of chapter three? I know Ben is out of character, but I'm trying to write him as in character, and at the same time as my personal head canon based, as possible in their situation.
