#Forty: In which he gives away his best friend.
'Matt! I swear to God if you don't find my shoes~'
Rebekah swears, a bundle of jitters while she paces around the room barefoot. Dammit, I know they should be here! I cuss, rummaging through one of the dozens of bags and boxes scattered in the corner. She's going to kill me if I~ Oh, thank fuck! I breathe, snatching the white pair of stilettos before scurrying back over to Rebekah as I say.
'I've got them, I've got them!'
'I'll slaughter you if we're going to be late because of this.'
She grumbles through clenched teeth as I bend down to help her put them on. This wasn't what I envisioned when she asked me to be the one to walk her down the aisle... I chuckle fidgeting with her dress, making sure there are no wrinkles or smooches insight as I mutter.
'You're the bride... You really think they'll start without you?'
'Oh, fuck off. It's just annoying that nothing ever goes according to plan!'
'Why? You didn't anticipate the curling iron to give up on you? Or the keycard problem? That's just poor preparation on your part.'
I laugh, jumping back the second she tries to kick me. Afraid her heel might drill a hole in me now that I'm finally all healed up as I raise my arms in the air and snicker.
'Hey! I can't help it your doomed when it comes to things like this! Hell, even your wedding planner scheduled your bad luck into her timetable.'
'She did not!'
Rebekah yelps outraged as she looks down at me. I give her a sideways smile, trying not to piss her off as I nod my head confirming she did.
'After the rehearsal dinner, she came to talk to me and Lex. She had the gut feeling that tight time schedules in combination with your ...misfortune, weren't a good mix.'
'How is it my fault again that the oven caught fire just before we were going to be seated?'
She grits as I walk over to one of the side tables picking up the veil. I let the fabric flutter beside me, being careful not to step on it as I walk back to her and laugh.
'You stormed into the kitchen demanding to see the menu again freaking the hell out of the chef, who because of it accidentally poured oil into an old wood oven! You're lucky the guy still wants to arrange the catering for tonight.'
She bites her lips, a painful expression on her face as she recalls the incident while I usher her to turn around so I can put the veil in her hair.
'You're right... I'm cursed, aren't I?'
I shake my head laughing as I try to get the clip in without ruining her hair but it somehow won't work. Gently I try to straighten it out but whatever I do it's still hanging crooked as she clasps her hands together and sulks.
'I can't even manage to get my wedding day right! Maybe it's a sign...'
My hands instantly stop moving with the lace fabric. Jerking her shoulders so she looks back at me as I try to tell her reassuringly.
'Bhek's... It's just who you are and we love you for it! Don't you think Ty realized what he signed up for when he asked for your hand in marriage?'
She puffs her cheeks, still frustrated and fighting the urge to break down in tears. Not willing to wreck her makeup since the stylist spent a full two hours on it. I shake my head, throwing her a soft smile as I nudge her arm and say.
'If Lex and I managed to stay alive for all these years he's going to be just fine. Stop worrying so much, that guy is head over heels for you.'
'I know that... But what if he changes his mind? After our honeymoon, we're supposed to go and live together! Matt, he has no idea what he's getting himself into!'
Rebekah wails, dramatically throwing her arms in the air and I can feel a serious case of cold feet rise within her. I quickly dash over to a table that has a few flutes of champagne standing on it along with a bottle of whiskey. Deciding that bubbles aren't going to cut it I grab a glass and pour a gracious amount of whiskey into it before walking back to Rebekah. Handing her the glass, ushering her to drink as I say.
'Here. I've seen it help in movies against the nerves so it should work with you too.'
The idea of me watching wedding chick-flicks is enough to put a smile on her face as she chuckles softly before downing the content in one go.
'You better not get her drunk.'
Lexi snickers as she walks into the room. The both of us turn in her direction while Rebekah mutters amusedly.
'Thank heavens I'm not a lightweight like you...'
'Yeah, don't give her that on our wedding day~'
I instruct Rebekah, but the words get caught in my throat as soon as my eyes wander over my gorgeous wife-to-be. You're breathtaking. I swallow, ignoring the deadpan look on her face as she mutters.
'I'm not drunk after one fucking shot, asshole.'
She rolls her eyes once she realizes I'm not even paying attention to what she's saying as I continue to eye her up and down. This wasn't one of those bridesmaid's dresses that makes you cringe and wonder how much the bride must hate her entourage. No... This is glamourous, chic, and sexy all blended into one. Lexi had warned me that this wouldn't be like any other wedding and that I still couldn't compare it to what ours was going to be like.
Since Tyler is also a celebrity the wedding had to have certain standards. But luckily for him, he was a guy. As stereotypical as it sounds paparazzi were more interested when women got married than when males did, so they still had some free reign so to speak. We don't. Even if we choose to have a private wedding Lexi assured me it would be swarming with cameras during the ceremony.
She said I should look at this as a dress rehearsal of the real thing. Which did worry me to some extent, at least until I saw her wearing this... Dios Mio, I can't wait to see you in your wedding gown. I sigh, admiring the sparkly fabric hugging her body. I don't care how flamboyant it'll be as long as you're there...
The girls had been talking in the kitchen the other day about the fact that Lexi's bridesmaid dress needed to be altered a bit now that she was starting to show a baby bump, but I wasn't expecting her to wear anything like this! The see-trough tule makes it look like the golden sparkles are just glued to her body, at least until you look further down. That's where the fabric starts to darken to a black, loosely hanging over her belly and feathering over her butt and thighs. You're just~ I sigh, glancing over her face. She's wearing subtle makeup apart from the smokey eyes. No lipstick, which is fine by me, and her hair tucked back in the neatest ponytail I've ever seen. Every single one of her rowdy curls smoothened out to the point I can't help but sigh. Such a shame, you shouldn't try to tame a lion...
'Earth to Matt!'
Rebekah snaps her fingers in front of my face, giggling with Lexi as she takes a step back and scoffs.
'I'm the bride, you're supposed to be in awe of me today!'
'Stop being so needy. Tyler will drool even more the second he lays his eyes on you.'
Lexi snorts to Rebekah as she walks up to me. Her high heels make it easier for her to kiss me while she murmurs.
'I thought you might like this dress...'
I give her a cheeky grin, innocently shrugging my shoulders as I murmur.
'I can't help it, you look like a goddamn angel.'
She blushes at the compliment, pecking me on the lips once more before she whispers.
'You look dapper as well...'
I grin in return while she picks up my jacket from the couch handing it to me with shining eyes as she continues.
'You're still missing the finishing touch though...'
I sigh, shaking my head with a smile as she helps me into the last piece of my tuxedo. Brushing her hands over my shoulders to smoothen the fabric before slipping back in front of me so she can straighten out my tie as she whispers.
'Now you're perfect.'
'You're enjoying this way too much for my liking.'
I mumble trying to pry her hands loose from my tie only resulting in her tugging on it harder, causing me to tumble towards her as she crashes her lips on top of mine.
'Guys! Seriously?! I'm supposed to be walking down the aisle like ten minutes ago...'
'One extra minute won't make a difference either then.'
I grin at Rebekah, wrapping my arms around Lexi before kissing her again. Making it a quick one not taking the risk of getting boomeranged with one of the bride's heels. I've seen those movies where the bridezilla goes out on a rampage on her own wedding day... Never ends well for folk like me.
'Sis you look absolutely marvelous! But what on earth is going on with that veil of yours?'
Lexi giggles, pulling me out of my thoughts as she wanders over to Rebekah. I glance up at both of them as I murmur.
'Yeah, don't know what it is with that thing but I can't seem to get it right.'
Lexi sighs with a smile, adjusting the damn clip within seconds before she pulls up her brow at me and snorts.
'It isn't rocket science, Matt.'
'Listen. I've done my sister's hair at least a hundred times, but this is on a whole other level! She asked me to walk her down the aisle, this was not included in the job description!'
At my words Rebekah tilts her head, squinting her eyes at me as she snaps in a low tone.
'Is that what this is to you? A job?'
I raise my hands in defense, blinking confusedly as I yell.
'That's not what I said at all! It's just~'
'Relax baby, we're just messing with you.'
Lexi giggles, the two of them bursting into laughter as she stops me from making a run for the door. These two, I swear... Sighing I pinch the bridge of my nose, waving over to Lexi's belly as I mutter.
'I changed my mind. Please let it be a boy.'
The two of them laugh even louder, proving my point as I tell them unable to keep a mocking laugh out of my voice.
'Honestly, how am I going to survive another one of you two?'
'Who knows? Maybe you're in luck... We'll find out tomorrow.'
Lexi smirks as she rubs her stomach. I close in on her, hugging her from behind and placing my hands over hers. Rebekah waves her arms, refusing to listen to this any longer while she says.
'Enough. I'm still pissed off you're going to do an ultrasound when I'm off on my honeymoon.'
'You know I didn't really have a say in the matter, right?'
Lexi retorts rolling her eyes at her sister. In turn, Rebekah crosses her arms still trying to look defiant as she mutters.
'Whatever.'
She pouts her lip, refusing to look at either of us for a couple more seconds until she reluctantly looks back at us and says.
'Fine, I guess a video call will have to do. Now can I please get married before Tyler changes his mind?'
Lexi nods. I laugh beside her while I let go of her belly, walking up beside Rebekah and sticking my arm out for her to hold while I ask.
'You sure you're ready to do this?'
'I've been ready for almost an hour now ...if someone hadn't misplaced my shoes, we would've been done with the ceremony already.'
Rebekah snorts as she grabs ahold of my arm. I roll my eyes at her, a smile on my face as Lexi quickly snaps a picture of us before she hurries back to the altar before us.
I glance over her one more time to make sure everything is in order for my best friend's wedding before I hand her the bouquet and open the door. She takes a deep breath as I lead us both down the hallway, rubbing her arm trying to calm down her nerves.
'Thanks for doing this, Matt.'
She whispers as we close in on the double doors making me turn to look at her as I say with a smile on my face.
'Common, don't get sappy on me now... Of course, I'd want to walk my rockstar down the isle.'
She smiles happily, bending her head to me and giving me an air hug while she hums.
'I blame the nerves and the atmosphere. But just so you know... Even if my dad was still around he would've had to fight you over this because I couldn't have chosen between either of you.'
I smile again. Wishing my friend wouldn't say such things seconds before we walk past a mass of people, but happy nevertheless.
'Seriously, Matt. You're the best sidekick any girl can wish for. Even with all the drama involving Lex you always made sure it wouldn't come between our friendship. I wouldn't know what to do without you.'
'You really need to cut it out.'
I chuckle. Pulling her in for a swift hug as we stop walking. You're my best friend too, idiot.
'Why? Your eyes getting watery already?'
She teases, poking her finger against my chest. I shake my head, picking up the veil behind her head and drawing it over her face as I chuckle.
'Maybe. But more importantly, it's showtime sweet cheeks.'
Her eyes instantly dart to the side, only now noticing we're already in front of the double doors.
'Oh shit. Do I look alright?'
She asks, all her nerves boiling back up within an instant. I throw her a cheeky smile, cupping my hand over hers as she's holding the bouquet between her trembling fingers while I tell her reassuringly.
'You look amazing. Now rock that walk and marry your man.'
She gives me a dazzling smile in return, her eyes shining with mirth behind her mask as I wrap my arm back around hers. Both of us take another deep breath before the double doors swing open, revealing a massive crowd between us and Tyler who's in complete wonder the second he lays his eyes on Rebekah.
'What if I trip?'
Rebekah whispers softly, her feet frozen in place as she stares back at Tyler. I squeeze her hands to let her know I'm here for her as I answer under my breath.
'Then give them something to look at.'
She chuckles quietly at my remark, her nerves seemingly evaporated as she instantly takes the first step. I quickly take the lead, guiding her along the aisle. Everyone's eyes follow Rebekah as she breathes nervously the closer we get to the altar. Tyler beams with happiness the moment we come to stand before him, tears glistening in his eyes as he shakes my hand. Lexi gathers the flowers from Rebekah as I tell her with a smile before handing her over to her husband-to-be.
'Knock 'm dead partner ...or kiss 'm crazy. Your choice from now on...'
***
'You can't put this off forever, you know...'
Lexi whistles against my ear playing with her dessert spoon. I glare at her from the side, pushing mine back once I'm finished while I grumble.
'I hate public speaking.'
'Come on, you've been working on that speech for over two weeks!'
She chuckles while gazing around the room. It's packed. Everyone we know and don't know came to the wedding, by now lazily talking among each other with stuffed bellies. I shake my head, turning my attention solely on Lexi as I mutter.
'I know, and I changed my mind.'
'You can't chicken out now. She will never let you hear the end of it.'
Lexi giggles as she hops onto her feet. I immediately try to pull her back down but it's already too late. I watch her frozen in motion as she clings her knife against her glass of soda while she speaks up with a cheery voice.
'Can I get everyone's attention for a moment, please? The best friend of the bride would like to bring out a toast.'
She promptly sits back down in her seat, a wicked grin on her face telling me I've got no choice now. Dammit. I swear silently, dragging myself on my feet as I let my eyes wander around the room until they fall on Rebekah. I'm doing this just for you... I cuss silently, waving my finger over to the guy in charge of the slideshow.
'Good evening everyone... Rebekah...'
I begin, drawing a short breath trying not to focus on the crowd around us. Rebekah smiles amused and I'm not sure whether she's enjoying my torment, or just excited to hear what I'm about to say. I tilt my head, not hiding the fact that I'd rather be anywhere else than here in front of all these people while I continue.
'Or rather ...Bhek's. Because that's all I ever remembered calling you. Being best friends means you know better than anyone how much I hate speech... So feel free to laugh, because I'll be doing the same thing in a few months.'
I wink at her, waving to Lexi with my glass in hand as I continue lightheartedly.
'Since I'll be marrying your sister and all...'
'Took you long enough!'
She yelps in response, causing the room to erupt in laughter. I point my finger at her, playfully squinting my eyes before shrugging my shoulders not able to deny it.
'Touché. But, that's not what tonight is all about. Be patient, you'll get your moment soon enough.'
I wave her off, earning another laugh from the crowd. I wander over to the big screen on the side, keeping my attention on Rebekah as I speak.
'Tonight Tyler decided he would take on the mission of becoming your husband. Commendable...'
I tilt my head towards Tyler who's grinning already, making me shake my head again as I try to sound dramatic.
'No, seriously Ty... You may have heard some of the stories before, but you have no idea. Which is why I consider you the bravest bloke I know. God speed.'
I bring up my glass, taking a small sip as Ty chuckles hugging Rebekah from the side.
'Don't worry Bhek's I put in the good stuff too... Wouldn't want to scare him off now you've finally tied him down.'
She huffs a laugh, and I can already see her plotting her revenge on me as I continue flicking my finger for the first photograph to pop up as I say.
'Let's start with a high ...when I first met you. You know, the time we were all still cute and innocent?'
'As most of you know I met both Rebekah, Lexi, and Alex when we moved into the same street. Rebekah and I immediately hit it off since we both had a passion for the arts. Drawing in particular. Now I'm not going to show you any sketches from back in the day, mostly because it would hurt both of our reputations since we both learned evolving such a skill took time.'
Rebekah snorts at the inside joke, remembering all too well the first time we showed our parents some of our sketches as we exclaimed we wanted to get famous. They sucked... And our parents weren't afraid to tell us, being brutally honest about it. I can see my mother and father also snickering in the back and I bring my glass up to them throwing them a cheeky smile as I say.
'At least we proved everyone wrong in the end.'
'As we got older ...well. We all got wackier too I guess...'
Both Rebekah and Lexi jolt in their seats seeing the next picture. Didn't expect that, huh? I smirk as I gesture over to the screen and chuckle.
'While writing this speech I'd been wondering when the exact moment was I knew you were my best friend. It's strange how something like that just happens naturally. Pin-pointing it was no easy task, but I eventually came to this moment.'
She looks quizically, probably not even remembering when the photo was taken. I heave a sigh, smiling gently down at her while I go on.
'To most people, this looks like a goofy moment between sisters ...friends. And the beauty of it is that it is just that. This was taken the day after my father was diagnosed with cancer...'
Everyone grows quiet as Rebekah clasps her hand over her mouth. Lexi is stunned to silence as well while she gazes between me and the screen and I continue.
'You see... At the time we didn't know how bad it was and if he would recover from it. Thank the lord you did papá.'
I bring up my glass again. So does everyone else, taking a small sip before I point back to the screen.
'It's moments like these that define the kind of friendship you have. I hadn't been eating, drinking, or talking much for that matter. My young mind was too occupied, questioning if my father was about to die or not. Rebekah was the first to come and check up on me. She always had a knack for getting me to talk. And when I refused to do even that she made sure to take my mind off it.'
She gives me a sideways smile. Her eyes glisten as she blinks rapidly, trying to force down her tears.
'When I recovered this photo I realized that our friendship can't be described by a mere moment Rebekah ...because there were thousands. It's defined by the magic connection you develop with one another. Knowing each other better than we do ourselves. You knew I was in pain and made me laugh if only so I could forget about my troubles for a few minutes. That's what true friendship is... The selfless act of being there for each other when you truly need it. To not judge each other, but also be true with one another.'
She fans her face, tears already pooling over as she mutters defeatedly.
'Jesus you...'
But I wave her off, not done as I flick my finger again. Biting my lip as I stare at the screen for a moment until I look between both sisters and say.
'One of the most asked questions people have thrown at me these past couple of months is why I chose Lexi. How can someone fall in love with his best friend's twin sister? I would always start with the fact that none of us choose who we fall in love with, but it also aggravated me every time that people viewed twins as equals. Two mirror images. And I think I'm probably the most entitled person in the room, along with Tyler of course, to say that's complete and utter nonsense. Ludicrous even. Just because you share the same blood and have similar physical trades doesn't mean you're the same person.'
Lexi and Rebekah both snort at my words, recognizing these kinds of statements all too well as I briefly turn my attention to the woman I love more than anything while I breathe.
'They couldn't have been more different if they tried. Darling, even if we got off to a very rocky start, you were always the one I was in love with...'
I smile before turning back to Rebekah as I add.
'Sorry if that broke your heart. It was just never meant to be, love...'
Rebekah barks a laugh, quickly placing her hand in front of her mouth trying to stifle her giggles while she replies.
'I knew that from the start, loverboy.'
I smirk at my best friend. Knowing fully well she only ever saw me as friend material too.
'It would be like kissing my sister... Which somehow actually makes sense now ...since you're going to be just that. Not to mention the fact that you're the one who solved the riddle and brought me and Lexi together after all these years.'
I joke leaning back against the table behind me, by now not even bothered by the onlookers anymore.
'No, these two women are nothing alike at all... While I was busy bickering with Lexi, trying to win her attention. And failing miserably at it, just in case someone is wondering. Rebekah and I were going in strong and went to art school together, pulling pranks on each other in the meantime.'
The room instantly erupts into laughter as I play the next fragment on repeat. Not able to contain my amusement either as I chuckle.
'Yeah... Not all of them went exactly according to plan, right Bhek's?'
I shrug my shoulders, Rebekah still laughing her ass off while I continue.
'But hey, at least they still made for good memories. This is what brings me to the next topic. I said so earlier, but truly Ty... May the odds ever be in your favor, because you're going to have your hands full with this one. The best advice I can offer you is to keep her away from electronics. And I mean all of them... Because darling let's face it, you and technology don't mix.'
Rebekah raises her hands as Tyler throws her a wink, chuckling in the meantime. Sorry, not sorry. I tell her silently, although she probably guessed I was going this bring it up one way or another.
'Apart from tattoo appliances you shouldn't be allowed to go near them, period. If I remember correctly Lex even said you got your hair stuck in the garbage disposal once?'
I ask with a painful smile causing Rebekah to jolt in her seat while Lexi snickers beside me, nodding her head frantically in confirmation.
'Now luckily we got through most of these accidents unscathed. And yes I said us. Because Ty, if you think destruction only hits within her ratio I can assure you you're wrong... You are going to receive some of the fire as well, I can assure you.'
We all laugh, Rebekah's face burning red as she averts her eyes from the room.
'Good thing I can also guarantee you there won't be a day where she won't make you laugh because of it.'
I say honestly, a lopsided smile on my face. Rebekah heaves a sigh of relief when I continue with the next photograph. Only for her to glare at me mortified as soon as she sees which one pops up on the screen.
'Oh my God!'
She chuckles, hiding her face behind her hands. You asked me to do this... In that case, I should at least enjoy your torture. I grin as I point up to the screen.
'Loving a bit of mischief is also one of your biggest traits. The same goes for the three of us though... We were always up to no good whenever we were together. Be prepared for that too.'
I warn, pointing my finger at Tyler. Luckily he isn't all that innocent himself. If we'd all crossed paths as kids I'm convinced we would've become great friends too. I think to myself as I go on.
'I was mostly to blame for all the crap we pulled, I admit. But you had your fair share of bad ideas too... This probably was the worst of them.'
I cringe laughingly. Explaining to everyone the time when we tried to break into our principals back yard. It started as an innocent prank for April fools, but things quickly turned south since none of us knew our headmaster had also a passion for breeding and training guard dogs. Unfortunately for us. And we ended up getting chased down the entire street by four of them. The three of us getting us stuck in a tree for over an hour until our principal decided to help us out of our misery. To say we never tried to pull another prank on him is an understatement. Luckily for us, he could laugh about it. I smile melancholically at the bittersweet memory before continuing with the next and final photograph.
'As most of you might have noticed we kinda did a time jump from then...'
I say, glancing up at the screen before turning to Rebekah with half a smile on my face.
'That's because I haven't always been the best friend, and I'm sorry for that. The backyard incident was one of the last moments where we had fun together before I left town. I was too caught up in my own dilemmas and I couldn't stay here at the time...'
I draw a shaky breath. Rebekah's eyes tremble with emotion as she beckons me I don't have to talk about it if I don't want to. But I shake my head, determined to get this out because I haven't had the nerve to bring it up before. Lexi eyes me fondly, understanding my pain as she nods for me to go on.
'There are only a few things I regret in life. Leaving was one of them. The other was not being there for you when you needed it the most... You were there for me when I needed you and I didn't return that favor.'
I tell Rebekah, shutting out all of the other people around us. Focussing solely on her as I say.
'You're my best friend. I should've raced over to you the second I heard about your parents passing, but I couldn't. I didn't.'
I correct myself. Rebekah already shaking her head, causing little stars of tears to fly around her.
'I couldn't even be there for the funeral, and I'm truly sorry for that. I know we talked over the phone a lot during that time, but it wasn't the same and we both know it.'
She sighs between her tears, eying me that it's fine. What's done is done. I give her a small nod, incredibly thankful I got blessed with a friend like her as I go on.
'When I finally got back I soon found out nothing had changed between the two of us. No matter the distance between us you are, and always will be, my sidekick for life. I think the only thing we'll never come to see eye to eye on is cars. Unless you finally realized that muscle cars do beat imports any day?'
'Not happening.'
She laughs through her tears, making me shake my head. Hopeless. I snort, although I wouldn't change a thing about her as I tell her.
'Bhek's, I'm honored that you asked me to give you away on your wedding day! Even if I wouldn't have allowed someone else to do it in the first place.'
'Oh, come here already you asshole!'
Rebekah blubbers, waving me over as she hurries to her feet and hugs me tightly while she tries to dim down her emotions. I grin, ruffling her hair before turning my attention on Tyler as I protectively clasp my arm around Rebekah's shoulders.
'So you better treat my girl right! Because I'll kick your ass if she comes crying to me for any other reason than happiness.'
I threaten amused before the two of us smack our hands together in understanding while I'm still holding Rebekah and add.
'I finally got her back and now you're swooping her away again. Luckily for you, I like you... Treat her like a queen, alright?'
He shoots me a cheeky grin since we had this talk on our bachelor night too.
'You can also call me if you're in a jam because of her...misfortune. I'll understand it like no other...'
I chuckle, earning an elbow in the ribs from Rebekah as she mutters laughingly.
'Thanks, buddy! That was enough for one night...'
I kiss her on the head, the both of us still snickering as I tell her before handing her back to Tyler.
'You know I'll always love you Bhek's... Nothing will come between that.'
She gives me one last squeeze before sitting back down next to Tyler. The entire room claps and laughs as we toast on the newlyweds. I give them a little bow before strolling back to my seat. Thank fuck that's over. I heave a small sigh of relief as Lexi brushes her finger against the corner of her eye and murmurs.
'You did great.'
I shrug my shoulders, leaning back in the chair as I grab another glass of champagne. Drowning most of the content in one go before I mutter.
'As long as she's happy...'
Lexi smiles fondly at me as she bends over to kiss me on the cheek. The both of us glance over to Rebekah and Tyler who are happily talking amongst each other and I chuckle slightly worried.
'This is going to bite me in the ass sooner than later, isn't it?'
'Owh, yeah.'
Lexi snorts and her wicked grin tells me she's already picturing her sister's speech at our wedding. I pinch my nose, a part of me already regretting some of the things I said just now before I excuse myself and head over to the restrooms.
Contradicting what all of us imagined the entire wedding went on without a hitch, not including the mess that happened before the actual ceremony. Everyone was happily dancing and chatting with each other as the night goes on. Some of us drank way more than we should've, resulting in my mother dragging my father home before he could make a fool of himself.
By midnight all of us are gathered outside, waving Rebekah and Tyler off to their honeymoon as they get into the limousine together. Lex and I hug them tight while Rebekah makes us promise again to call her the second we're done at the gynecologist tomorrow.
'I'm so happy for them.'
Lexi smiles as she waves once more before the car drives around the corner and out of view. I nod in agreeance, the both of us making our way back inside with the rest of the crowd. She slows in her step, lingering in the back as a few others pass us in the hallway before she turns to me. Yanking at my tie so I cower down to her level as she kisses me passionately. I smirk against her mouth, brushing my fingers over her face as I whisper between kisses.
'I can't wait to drag you out of here...'
She looks at me with a mischievous twinkle in her eyes as she suddenly pushes me backward, causing me to fall back against the wall behind me with a thud as she turns around. Glancing at me from over her shoulder as she says playfully.
'You have to catch me first to do that.'
Immediately making a run for it when she's done talking. It takes a second for me to recover as I watch her back until I start chasing her down.
Her giggles resonate through the hallway as she dashes between the crowd while I boom amusedly, quickly closing in on her.
'You wait until I get my hands on you...'
She laughs even harder as she slips out of my grasp at the last second, and the sound rings like music in my ears causing me to grin sheepishly as I run even faster. Once I finally get ahold of her, I quickly pull her with me into a dark corner. She sputters frantically as I press her up against the wall, bringing my face next to her ear as I whisper hoarsely.
'Got you...'
'I'm so scared.'
She taunts, still cackling as I bury my face in her neck. The ticklish feeling of my beard brushing against her skin only makes her giggle harder as I cage her in. Leaving her no way to escape from me as I murmur.
'I've been wanting to do this all night.'
My deep voice rips her out of her squirming fit, causing a shiver to run over her back as she bares her neck for me. She weaves her fingers into my hair as I place heated kisses on her skin, sucking at the crook of her neck while I hoist her in my arms. Luckily we made it to a more secluded area during our chase, giving us more than enough privacy as she tangles her legs around my waist. Her hands tug on my hair, ushering me to look up at her as she whispers out of breath.
'So have I... Do you have any idea how damn sexy you are in a tux?'
'I've heard you mention it...'
I smirk before our mouths find each other again and I deepen the kiss. Expertly prying her mouth open and delving my tongue in her mouth. Teasing hers with mine until I bite her lip causing her to moan in my mouth. I groan in response, my dick pulsing against her crotch with a burning need as I murmur.
'We need to get out of here before I fuck you right here in this hallway.'
'What's holding you back?'
She questions in between her pants making me look up at her in surprise. She bites her lip, her gaze drunk with desire as she clamps her legs tighter around me. Teasing my cock even more as she rubs herself along the bulge in my pants and I groan almost painfully.
'Lex, I swear to God... If you're not serious about this you have to cut it out right now...'
She whimpers in response, her eyes fluttering shut for a brief moment as she replies.
'I want you, Matty... God, I'm so damn horny it feels like I'm going insane! I can't wait until we're back home.'
That's all the validation I need before getting back in the game. Definitely one of the best side effects of you being pregnant. I growl, tackling her neck as I press her even harder against the wall. Ever since she is expecting her hormones went into overdrive and we've been having even more sex than we did before. She moans feverishly as I playfully bite down on her neck, one of my arms supporting her as her fingers delve towards my groin. Unpatiently tugging at my belt and trying to open my zipper. Burying her hands in my boxers as soon as she does, feeling my length as she mumbles hungrily.
'Fuck, you're so hard...'
I groan against her skin, my hands skimming over her thighs. Propping the fabric of her dress up over her butt as she pulls my briefs down so my dick springs free. Can you blame me? I think as her hands travel back over my chest before wrapping them around my neck so she can steady herself while I rip her panties to the side. Immediately teasing her lips with my cock as I pull her in for another wild kiss. She groans, moving her hips along my length so I can feel her arousal dripping onto cock making me moan with satisfaction.
'You're so wet, gorgeous... I never knew you had a kink for public sex...'
I whisper against her mouth, playing with the tip of my cock at her entrance causing her to shiver with anticipation as she murmurs breathlessly.
'Anywhere ...everywhere. As long as it's with you.'
I throw her a devilish grin, holding my hand over her mouth to keep her from making any noises as I slowly enter her. She gasps at the feeling of being stretched, digging her feet deeper against my ass forcing me inside her completely. I grunt in reply, feeling her tight slick walls clenching around my cock.
'Fuck, your pussy feels so good.'
I swear as I draw back before filling her again, my mouth already back on hers. Through my clouded haze, I notice some chatting somewhere in the distance and I glance up to see if we're still hidden before I kiss her harder, trying to muffle the sounds of pleasure coming from her lips as I slowly start moving. Her nails dig in my back as she tries everything in her might to stay quiet. When I realize the footsteps are coming closer I stop moving, keeping myself buried deep inside of her, sheltering her from anyone who might glance around the corner. They would probably think we're just having a passionate kiss in a dark corridor since our clothes are still on.
When the footsteps drift away again I hold still for another moment until I'm sure no one else is within earshot before I start moving again. Dragging Lexi's body away from the wall so she's only hanging on to me as I bounce her up and down on my cock. The sudden motion coaxes a yelp from Lexi's lips as she grips my shoulders even more tightly, afraid she might slip otherwise. My intense gaze holds her captive as she watches me, her eyes darkened with lust.
'Sh-Shit, Matty... I'm going to cum if you continue like that.'
She pants, her eyes rolling into the back of her head when I start to increase my paste. My hands cradling her butt, helping me to find a steady rhythm as I stretch her out. We've never tried this position before and by now I'm regretting it. God, you're sexy! I groan as her head tilts back, her body tensing up every time I slam back into her. In a few weeks, your belly will be too big to fuck you like this. But right now we're both riding in heaven and I can see a thin layer of sweat coating her skin as her breathing becomes more erratic. Her walls clenching desperately around me as I bang her even harder, making her shudder in pleasure as I demand with a rough voice.
'Then cum darling...'
That's all she needs to hear from me and her muscles instantly start to quiver while she's unable to stifle her moans as I drive her over the edge. Creaming my dick she continues to ride her hips in sync with my tempo as she swears with ragged breath.
'F-Fuck!'
'Indeed.'
I growl, a roguish grin plastered on my face as I feel my climax building as well. Her tight pussy forces me to come undone, but before I get the chance to fill her up she sputters frantically.
'Baby, you can't! I... I can't have your cum trickling down my legs when we go back in.'
'Then you better not spill anything!'
I cuss, immediately pulling out of her and forcing her down on her knees.
'Because I'm going to cum, hard, whether you want to or not.'
I groan, tugging at her hair so she's right in front of my pulsing dick. She quickly opens that pretty little mouth of hers, greedily licking down my shaft before putting it in her mouth. Just in time. I grunt, shoving my cock all the way down her throat. Damn, I'm glad you know how to deepthroat! I moan, blowing my load into her mouth. She whimpers at the taste, drinking every single drop until I'm done. Licking her tongue over my length in search of something she missed while I hiss through clenched teeth.
'That mouth of yours is a fucking godsent.'
She smirks, her eyes shining up at me as she bobs her head once more. The friction earns another moan from my mouth before I drag her back. My fist still tangled in her hair forcing her to stop causing her to pout her lip as I groan.
'Stop that... Or you'll have to continue at it until I've come again.'
She rolls her eyes, tempted by the idea as she skids her hands over my legs. Her fingers are teasingly slow as she slides my boxers back over my still half-stiff dick. She bites her lip in the process, her eyes never leaving my bulge. Bloody flirt. I sigh as she zips my pants before I help her back on her feet. Letting go of her hair as I drag my hands down her body in the same manner, pulling her dress back down over her delicious ass before I slip my other hand between her legs. Stroking her soaked lips once more, causing her to tremble against my touch until I place her panties back in place.
'We should get sneaky more often...'
I breathe against her ear before retreating my hands. She grins in response. Kissing my cheek as her fingers curl around my tux and she whispers huskily.
'I agree... That was fucking hot.'
I squeeze her ass, giving her one more kiss before we smoothen each other's hair out and head back to the party as if nothing happened.

Josh Billings once wrote: There are two things in life for which we are never truly prepared. Twins. He got it wrong... That is all I'm able to think about as I numbly stare at the screen in front of me. There are three... I swallow dumbfounded. Lex is also rooted to the spot as she sits beside me, clamping my sweaty hand in hers while the obstetrician moves the transducer over her belly. Three irregular heartbeats mixed together resonate through the room and I can't help but whisper in a daze.
'I thought you said ... that the doc said ... there was just one bun baking in your oven?'
Triplets... We're having bloody triplets?! My vision burs as I tear my gaze off the screen returning it towards Lexi. Even with my foggy eyesight, I can't miss the tears rolling down her cheeks as she breathes almost panicked.
'That's what he said!'
I realize she's more worried about what I'm thinking about all this. But instead of reassuring her, I turn my attention towards the internist who's watching us carefully while I ask her the one question that has been running through my mind this entire time.
'Is her body even capable of carrying three babies to term?'
'I'm sorry?'
She asks confusedly, clearly not expecting a question like that. I sigh, dragging my loose hand through my hair before beckoning over to Lexi as I say.
'I mean look at her, she's tiny as it is! Can she carry triplets without putting her health in danger?'
'Matty...'
Lexi calls her voice barely a whisper. I shake my head, having trouble keeping my thoughts in order as I tell her my voice seriously.
'Baby, don't get me wrong... You have no idea how blessed I feel. I'm also scared shitless... The idea of having three boys running around the house and breaking stuff. But I need to know if this is safe for you... Because I won't jeopardize your wellbeing! I don't care if I have to fight you over this.'
Lexi looks both in awe and mad ass hell when she opens her mouth to argue my reasoning, but the woman sitting opposite of us interrupts her. Pointing her finger in the air like a kid in middle school as she says.
'Okay, calm down the two of you... First off, yes she can carry her babies just fine. She'll only need extra prenatal care and more frequent checkups so we can keep a close eye on their growth. Secondly, sir... They're girls.'
My head instantly snaps back in her direction as I point my finger to the scream and yelp.
'But! I thought those were...'
'Those are the umbilical cords, sir... Here, this is where you should be looking.'
The woman says pointing her fingernail to three spots on the screen as she laughs.
'And these are definitely three healthy little girls in the making.'
'Dios Mio... There's gonna ... FIVE ... There's no way I~'
I stammer with wide eyes and it seems like everything starts to move in slow motion while the gynecologist tries to correct me.
'Five? No sir, three~'
But I lift my finger in the air, shaking my head as I point towards Lexi who looks somewhere between crying from excitement and laughing at the way I'm just completely swapped off my feet while I continue not able to utter a normal sentence. Trying to explain myself to the woman as I motion confusedly between Lexi and the television screen beside me.
'No ... She and her sister ... Oh Jesus! ...I'll never survive ... there are going to be f-five of ... of you!'
Lexi laughs, tears rolling down her face as she pulls me towards her in a hug and wails merrily.
'You said you were going to spoil her rotten if you got blessed with a daughter... I guess your wish came true threefold.'
'I think I need to refund my magic lamp because I'm pretty sure this isn't what the genie meant by you got three wishes...'
I joke, still not able to believe this is happening. We're going to have three gorgeous girls...
'Baby, I'm not sure whether I'm going to pass out or jump from joy...'
I breathe, devouring her in a kiss as I place my hand over her stomach. Lexi laughs, glancing down with me when I break off our kiss. Both of our hands cradling her belly as she murmurs both worried and entertained.
'Can we even do this? Raise triplets?'
'Of course, we can.'
I smile at her, no doubt in my mind she'll be the most amazing mom any child could wish for. She tilts her head, a precious smile on her face as she tangles her fingers through mine. I smile back at her, turning a bit more serious as I eye her and say determinately.
'But if this is a sign that there's going to be a plus-one with every generation I can assure you I'll drag those girls into the doctor's office myself as soon as they hit puberty. They're getting injections every three months, no IUD, I won't get fooled twice.'
'Agreed.'
She chuckles completely understanding. If I'm ever going to get four grandbabies at once, with the chance of that happening three times in a row... Dios Mio, my heart won't ever survive. I think laughing to myself.
In the meantime the doctor sets her equipment aside, assuring us both mamá and the little ones are as healthy as a horse. Lexi makes a new appointment with her while she puts her clothes back in order so we can leave. As soon as we're done we walk out of the building hand in hand, both of us coming to a standstill after a few feet. I bring her hand up to my mouth, kissing it before I ask humor evident in my voice.
'You ready for what's next?'
'Oh lord, my ears aren't going to survive this.'
Lexi giggles as she pulls her phone out of her pocket. Bhek's is going to lose her shit! I snort, as we get inside the car. The phone is already dialing Rebekah on video as I murmur quietly.
'At least she can't tackle us... I'm more afraid of what'll happen once we're home than I am for my eardrums right now...'
Lexi snickers softly in return, her eyes widening slightly when she realizes I'm talking about Nomes and Alex. But she doesn't get the time to reply because Rebekah's face suddenly pops up on the screen, Tyler right behind her. Both waiting excitedly while Lexi and I exchange another glance before either of us speaks up. Here it goes... I eye her, both of us grinning wildly before Lexi turns to the screen and asks innocently.
'You sure you wanna know?'
'YES!'
Rebekah yelps ushering us to get on with it as she impatiently continues in a high tone.
'So?! Is it a boy or a girl?!'
'Girls.'
I beam at her, fighting another wave of happy tears. She blinks rapidly as she blurts out.
'G-Girls? As in girlS, the m-multiple kind?'
We both vigorously nod our heads as Rebekah screams so loud I'm afraid Lexi's speakers might give out. Waving her hands like a madwoman, almost slapping Tyler in the process who's also dancing with joy. Lexi and I can only laugh as Rebekah's face dashes in front of the camera again as she squeals.
'Yes, yes ...YES! I'm going to be an auntie to two gorgeous girls?!'
'Three!'
Lexi and I both yell in unison causing to Rebekah slip in her movements. She pulls Tyler with her as he tries to protect her from falling, resulting in both of them tumbling onto the floor as she screams from the top of her lungs.
'Oh my fucking God!'
All we can see is her fists pumping in the air as she bawls helplessly. Tyler trying to soothe her as he laughs, also ecstatic with the unexpected news. After a few minutes, Rebekah scrambles back to her feet facing the camera. Her cheeks are soaked with tears as she blubbers with the biggest grin across her face.
'You're telling me you're having TRIPLETS?!'
