Friends Again
Inside the four of them sat while Thorne and Mace stared back at them.
"BP if you want out of this duel, I'll let you pass on this." He told BP.
"I'll be fine." BP said. "Who in the Dark Condor can beat me?"
"They have recruited some new blood into their organization and have been making a name for themselves just in the past three months. Do you still wish to practice your blade against them?" Mace asked. "The duel is to the death, nothing less will do."
"Those Bastards! It's their plan to make the Blood Moon weaker." Thorne shouted. "We will gut them and make them regret their decision for thinking that Blood Moon is an easy target."
"This duel is to the death, is everyone okay with that?" Mace asked. "It is an one on one team elimination duel. The winner of the fight would fight the next opponent until they lose. Should they win two games in a row, they will fight the next opponent and so on until all five men from the Dark Condor are dead. Should one of you die in the duel, the next person would step up to fight the winner from Dark Condor. With that in mind, what are your thoughts on the order of the fights?"
"I say we send out Ghost in the first round and let Ghost take care of everything." Skaylark said. No one knew how Ghost looked like and this was a great opportunity for them to force Ghost out of the night and bring him out into the day.
"Lazy bastard!" Shadow said to him.
"Don't blacken the Bastard name by calling him a bastard." BP joked.
"I'll go first." Shadow said. "I'm confident in my abilities."
"I'll go second." Skylark finally said next. "I'll rejoice when you die and avenge your death so your spirit will continue on to the spirit world."
Shadow glared at Skylark wanting to cut his head off, but reigned in her anger. He wasn't worth her time and energy.
"I'll go third." BP said to them.
"No, I'll go third." Hongmo said from the hidden door she was hiding behind. She didn't want Nightmare or BP to die if she could help it.
"Why do you insist on taking away all the fun!" BP pouted. "Do you not have confidence in my abilities?"
"I have the confidence in your abilities, but--" Hongmo started to say then was cut off by BP.
"Then I'll go third." He confidently said.
"I'll go forth." Hongmo told them. Nightmare opened his mouth to argue, however the Goryo growled angrily and lowly, temporally taking control over Hongmo. Nightmare sighed heavily before saying that he'll go last.
"Good. Now that is all decided. We'll gather at the Gates of Siri at noon." Mace said as he dismissed everyone. "You all can leave except Ghost. We need to talk."
Everyone got up to leave, but Nightmare didn't move until everyone left the office.
"Nightmare?" Mace asked in confusion. "Did you need to speak to me?"
"Yes." Nightmare said.
"We do." Hongmo said as she crept out of the hidden door and stepped forward.
"Ghost!" Mace said as he stood up. "It's a...good to see you again."
"You as well, Master Mace." Hongmo said as she sat down next to Nightmare.
"You guys..." Mace said as he pointed between the two of them.
"I wanted to let you know that Ghost and I are a couple now." Nightmare said. "And we have been a couple for two years now. I plan to make her my wife, if she'll have me."
Hongmo froze in place. They haven't talked about marriage, not even once, but here Nightmare is talking about marring her in front of the man that is her boss and the man she use to be attracted to and sleep with.
Mace's hand fell to the desk as he stared at his hands for a long time before he smiled at them and congratulated them.
"Congratulations! Haha!" Mace said as he rubbed the back of his head. "Truly, from the bottom of my heart, I wish the both of you happiness. Now that I understand your situation, I will not bother Ghost anymore than for business reasons."
"Thank you, Master Mace." Nightmare said. "I'll take my leave first."
When the door closed, silence filled the air, leaving it hard for Mace to breath. He had regretted not being able to accept Hongmo for who she is. For not waiting for her to explain her past and listen to her concerns. Instead, he protected himself and questioned her and her abilities. What he regretted the most was letting her go when she left.
"Are...are you well?" Mace asked.
"I am fine." She answered.
"Are you happy?"
"Very."
"Does...does he know?"
"He knows everything." Hongmo told Mace. "I hope you and I can still be friends."
"Of course. I feel like I owe you an apology. I shouldn't have let you leave feeling as if I didn't trust you after everything that you've done for me and Blood Moon. After everything, you were the last person I should have questioned. And there isn't any excuses that I can say or any other way to take back the actions and words I said in the past to hurt you. All I have to offer to you is my apology and hope that you can forgive me. I, too, hope that you can forgive me and hope that we stay as friends. "
"I forgive you." Hongmo told him. "And have you been well?"
Mace smiled at Hongmo with his shit-eating smile before he began to fill her in with his life and the happenings of the Blood Moon Organization and the politics of the city of Obe as well as how Asano was able to take the throne so swiftly away from his Brother Prince and from the Queen and Queen Dowager.
