The Haunting begins Ch.13

The day after that I began to sense Jays pain through the whole house.

He was haunting me!

When I'm eating food on a plate or bowl before my utensil reaches the food the plate or bowl slides away from me.

Classic jerky dude. Don't mess with a girl and her chicken nuggets!

Or when I'm sleeping he pulls the covers off me. It was so difficult to rest when cold.

I fell asleep in class and almost got a detention for it. I was furious.

The next little prank he did. Was writing on the walls. And then when my mom saw the offensive writing meant for my mother she grounded me.

"This is the last straw!" I fumed as I spined around the room. Through about a week of torture he hasn't appeared at all.

I sort of missed not seeing his tall beauty.

"Come out! Now!" I shouted. I felt a tap on my shoulder and turned around knowing who it was I slapped him in the face without thought.

He tapped the part where I slapped it. Surprisingly his cheek reddened.

I didn't let him talk as I let out all my anger on him. I pushed him until he hit the wall and afterwards I hit him continuously.

"Maya, Please... Relax!" Jay said as he tried blocking himself.

He grabbed my hands and I squirmed in his grip.

"Let me go!" I said.

"No!" Jay said he turned us around and I was now the one against the wall. My hands were on the sides of my head as Jay intensely glared at me.

Are bodies were so close but I still ignored staring at him as I fought to be free.

"Maya..." He calmly said. I shook my head furiously. I didn't want to hear him. Or look at him.

My hair was all over my face. I gave up and looked down.

I immediately crashed as I let out sobs.

Jay gasped and let me go. "Big mistake" I mumbled. I latched out and grabbed Jays neck.

I squeezed it and his eyes Widened. He did the same to me and I immediately let go he pushed me again harshly.

Gosh! Why is he so strong? I fell onto the floor and he hopped on top of me holding me down on the ground firmly. I struggled in his grasp as I shook.

Let me go so I could kill you even though you are dead already!!!

"I don't want to hurt you!" He said. I knew he didn't. And I knew he wouldn't. I calmed down at the thought of Jay's gentle touch.

I didn't fight. I didn't move. My chest raised up and down as I panted. I was tired from trying to harm him.

"Don't you ever! Ever! Try me like that" Jay said. My face turned to guilt. I could barely see Jay with all this hair in my face.

He quickly pulled it away and I flinched. Afterwards I could see him clearly. but went back to holding me down.

"You are my best friend, Maya Avano. I don't know how long it has been since I've felt this way... But I have felt something. A connection like no other" Jay began.

I looked at him patiently. He wasn't getting nothing, there was more he had to say.

"You made me feel, so, good. And I felt like the dirty one. That's why I said what I said. We were both scared Maya. But even through the scary moments I still felt it. I still fell in love" Jay said staring at me.

He licked his lips and sighed. A moment passed as if he was waiting for me to say something and when I didn't he climbed off me and let out a hand. I took it and he helped me up.

"Do you really feel that way?" I whispered.

"Yes" Jay said emotionlessly as he took a step forward. He looked at my lips as he wiped my tears.

"Well, I love you too" I said. He slowly leaned in but we were stopped from almost kissing.  Suddenly the door slammed open and my mom came in. I ripped myself away from Jay and faced my mother who looked insane.

"Mom!" I shouted. I looked to my side and Jay was still there. I gasped

"What is going on. And who is this?" She said.

"Mom, relax. I... I..."

"Who's this? A boy and you didn't even bother to tell me?!"

"Mom!" I said throwing my hands to my face.

Jay chuckled beside me.

"I was just leaving" He said smiling at my mother. He raised both his hands in defence as he walked out. He jumped out the window without another word.

Did he seriously just leave me to explain to my mother?

It was a Tuesday afternoon and I already started to tell Cindy about what recently happened.

"No way!" She said. I'd expect that reaction... Drama Queen.

"What was it like? Did he taste delicious?"

"Shut up! Kendall is coming" I said smacking Cindy out of her thoughts.

"Hey guys" he calmly said.

"Hey Kendall" I chimed.

"Wassup" Cindy said peeling her orange.

"The ceiling" Kendall teased.

"Classic" I mumbled as I brought the milk carton up to my mouth.

"So did you guys finish the history project?" Kendall said stating at us expectantly.

"Oh shoot, I forgot you were my history teacher!" Cindy growled.

I laughed at her response. I knew Cindy better than anybody else yet she still seizes to amaze me.

"What about you Maya?"

"Huh?"

"Did you complete the history project on Leonardo Da Vinci?" He asked.

"Oh, right. I didn't have time to complete it" I said. This was the truth and even though there was more to add I'd rather lie.

"How come?" Kendall snapped.

"Because I was... Busy" I said as I fidgeted with my fingers nervously. Keep cool, Maya!

"Doing what?" He urged as is bold hands clenched into fist.

Did he know???

"Kendall relax" Cindy said putting a hand in between me and Kendall.

I stared at the two with anxious and nervous eyes with brows that knitted in distress.

"Do ever think about anybody else than yourself?" Cindy spat at Kendall.

"Hey, mind your own business"

"No, way!" Cindy said as she pushed Kendall. Wow that girl can reach!

"Fuck off!" Kendall shouted everyone turned to our table and anxiety took over I quickly got up with my tray and walked to a different table.

Unbelievable!

My phone was buzzing all afternoon. And I already knew who it was.

I was getting all kinds of messages from Kendall. It was getting so annoying. Can't he see that I don't want to talk to him!

Maya, talk to me

Its Kendall. Let me know your OK!

I'm sorry for cursing

Maya please!

"Arrgh!" I  screeched pulling the pillow over my mouth to scream.
I released the pillow and powered my phone off. I don't care if my alarm won't work because of this. I just wanted some rest.

Silence filled the room and for a moment I had hope that I'd be able to fall asleep. But when I didn't I got up and walked to the kitchen I served myself dome cereal and ate in the middle of the night. It was actually 12:22

I heard the lights turn on from my mother's room and I sighed.

"Maya? Why are you eating breakfast so early?" My mother asked as she walked out of her room tiredly.

"I Just-"

"Maya please tell me what's really going on. I know that you haven't been practicing for drama class. You never seem interested, nor did you tell me about this fantastic opportunity" my mother said as she took out the milk from the fridge.

"Fine. Promise not to tell anybody? Not a soul should know except you and me. Not even to the person I speak of!" I said leaning closer towards her face.

"I promise" my mother stated in her most serious state. She dammed the milk on the counter as if it was her fist.

"That guy you met the other day is not normal. He isn't part of my Drama Club. Which is also a lie" I began. I phased and took a deep breathe. "My first encounter was the moment I stepped into my room for the first time since we officially moved"

"What?" She softly whispered.

"Mom, his name is Jay. And he's a ghost" I said.

my mother's eyes widened and she leaned back as she crossed her arms.

"I'm not lying mom, he is dead" I said. I quickly grabbed my mothers arm and yanked her upstairs. I ruffled through my drawers and found the wanted sighn.

"Look mom! He was born in 1945!" I said pointing on the wanted sign.

"Where did you get this?" My mother asked gently taking the paper in her hands.

"F-from the corner store. I went with Cindy" I said. I was losing my excitement from her serious face.

"Does she know too?"

"Not really" I said.

"This is ridiculous Maya. I don't believe you" my mother said.

"But ma!" I said yanking on her sleeve.

"That boy was real he was a solid figure. Ghosts aren't solid things"

"Mom-" I began.

"This could have been photo shopped why do you think it looked hidden? Someone is tricking you"

"He's not! I saw him as a ghost, I saw him as his deaths figure! What more do you want me to show you!"

"Enough Maya, go to he'd. And in the morning your going to the hospital!"

"Stop!" Jay said from behind.

"What?!" I said whipping my head around.

"What are you doing Maya?" Jay said.

"You get out of my house, creep" my mother said protectively. Oh so now is when she protects me?

"Jay is not a threat! He is my friend!" I stated. I rushed towards his side and grabbed his hand.

I could already see by his face that he was wondering what was happening.

"Show her" I said staring at my mother mutely.

"M-Maya" Jat mumbled beside me.

"Don't be scared. Do it for me"  I said smiling up at my beautiful love.

Jay looked towards my mother nervously. Then he awkwardly ran his fingers through his hair and breathed out.

"I want you to count to 3 in every second close and open your eyes" he said slowly all in what felt like a minute.

It gave his command a whole dimension of spook.

My mother closed her eyes and knitted her eyebrows. I watched as she mouthed one. Then she opened her eyes. And gasped

"Mom its okay!" I said. I looked at my side and Jay was gone. My mother shook fearfully and began to scratch her arms she closed her eyes once more and mouthed two.

There was a large phase before my mother opened her eyes to see Jay again. She stepped back quickly and banged against the drawer.

"How did you? Oh my, goodness" my mother said with shaky hands.

"He isn't going to hurt you. He is friendly. Trust me mom"

"No, he is tricking you. I saw the darkness there. I felt it. It was dark he is sent from-"

"Mom!" I shouted before she could finish that sentence.

She breathed in and out slowly.

"I'm sorry. I will except this. Whatever this is. But I don't want him doing any tricks around me got it" my mother slurred as she looked around as if she was blind to reality.

My mother rubbed her eyes.

"I-I-I th-think we all should just rest. And Maya please finish your cereal" my mother said shaking my hand then leaving.

I saw her leave dumbfounded. I wasn't proud of what I had said, bet I regret nothing

"Are you OK?" I asked Jay.

"Of course! That was awesome!" Jay said. I buckled at his words.

"No it wasn't! My mother is probably peeing herself right now!"

"Don't talk about your mother like that! Shame on you Maya" Jay teased. I laughed along with him as I walked away to eat my midnight breakfast.
