Stupid Mistakes

It's living with the consequences of them that's the hardest."

Numbness is something that Chris isn't proud to admit she has grown use to, but at the same time it can just be so suffocating to feel everything all the time. Thats why she didn't think twice about standing outside the gate and ringing the gate buzzer constantly or trying to stop herself when she made her way to the door.
When the numbing feeling started to leave her body, she knew it was too late as the door opened to reveal someone she wasn't truly proud in admitting she use to date. "Chris? What are you doing here?"
"Hey, Carrie." Was all that Chris could say as she stood there awkwardly, the persona she usually has on when in front of the girl was clearly gone. "I just wanted to say hi, and...ummm. That I was just ahhh, yeah." Silence settled between the two, as Chris looked anywhere but the girl who was standing in front of her.
"Why are you here, Chris?" She questioned again crossing her arms. "Uhhh...You know what I'm-I'm just going to go. Sorry for bugging you, Carrie." Before she could turn around to make her way back truck, she felt a hand quickly grab her wrist preventing her from taking another step.
Chris just stared at the petite hand before making eye contact with the girl it belonged to. "Chris, is everything ok?" Like that, one look and those few words from someone she use to trust with all her heart and she was done. Carrie was at first shocked when she saw the strong female start crying for no reasons, but she knew not to ask as she pulled her into her arms and just held the sobbing girl.
She doesn't know how long the two of them stayed outside holding each other, but Chris had to admit it felt nice to just be comforted by someone who wasn't family. Yet, Chris didn't mean to do what she did, as she moved her head to look at the girl she knew it was a mistake.
Both girls were afraid to admit that what they did was cruel, as their lips locked on to each other. In that moment Chris didn't care enjoying the feeling of not giving up something she loved for someone else, but she knew as the door closed behind her that this didn't mean trouble wasn't going to be following her at the end of the day.

"This should have never happened." Was the last thing Chris said as she quickly threw on something, before leaving the Wilson household quickly and driving back to her house. It was dark out when she finally got home, and since she left the house before eating Chris snuck in for a midnight snack. What she was hoping for was everyone to be asleep, but instead her luck had ran dry as she saw her sister walking down the stairs. "Chris? What are you doing?"
"Uhh...food?" Mentally slapping herself for how stupid she was, as her sister just stared at her. "I got hungry so I decided to come in and grab something."
Julie nodded her head before the both of them made their way to the kitchen, only to let out a yelp when seeing Luke and Reggie. Luke was standing looking in the fridge while Reggie just looked around the room. "I'm never gonna get used to that." Julie said before both separated to do their own thing, Julie going near Reggie to get a cup and Chris going to the fridge only to stare over Luke's shoulder.
"Do you guys even eat?" She asked looking between the two, both of them shaking their heads no. "I just wanna see what'cha got." Luke responded not looking away from the treats that sat untouched before Chris closed the door after grabbing a jar. "Hey! You know how long it took me to open that?" Luke said as he followed behind Chris, joining her sister who was talking to the other ghost.
"Sorry, I don't believe in wasting power."
"Good. Because, that's exactly what me and Reg need to talk to you both about." Luke said making Chris and Julie look between the two. "Our power usage?" Chris questioned.
Rolling his eyes he signaled Reggie and Julie over before continuing, "No. The power that the both of you have. Your voices. Your guys piano playing. Dude, the both of you are like a human wrecking balls."
Julie chuckled at his metaphors. "Is this a pep talk?"
"What Luke is trying to say is that you both have the power to move people." Reggie stated looking at Julie happily before turning to Chris. "To knock them off their feet."
Luke continued as he pointed at nothing, "There is no way your teachers wouldn't let you back into school if they heard you play like that." Once hearing that, Chris mood returned as she looked away from the boy and payed attention more on her sandwich making skills instead.
"We ask her and she said I would have had to wait till next semester, but Chris ended up giving me her spot." Julie stated, watching her sisters shoulder tense, but never to turn around and argue. "That was your guys first mistake. Asking" Luke stated before leaving the girl to jump onto the counter.
"Reg you remember what we use to do to book gigs?"
"Yeah. Sunset Curve booked gigs by doing by going into ambush mode." Reggie said energetically recalling all the happy living moments they had, Julie looked at him enjoying the little smile he had, before receiving a kick in the knee by her older sister. "Ok, how is that helpful?" Chris asked looking at the senior citizen.
"Like Reg said, we went into ambush mode. We played in front of clubs, back of clubs. We even played book clubs." After saying that the two sisters looked at each other before turning to face Luke. "Book clubs?"
Luke already regretted admitting to that, as Reggie nervously laughed as he rubbed the back of his neck. "Yeah. We didn't get many gigs out of that one, but they did have some gnarly snacks." Reggie happily agreed to that one as he shock his head, causing Chris and Julie to laugh a little.
"What Luke is saying, is don't ask for permission." Getting an idea, Luke started to swing his legs around, "Swing that wrecking ball of talent at your teacher's head, and smash those stupid rules right outta their brains."
Rolling her eyes, Chris leaned towards the very ambitious boy. "This isn't a club, it's a school, and your plan sounds violent."
"It's a closed door, and you gotta bust it open." Sticking his head through the cupboard door when Chris went to grab a glass. "Sorry, once I start with the metaphors, I can't stop." Luke said following Chris, as she grabbed orange juice from the fridge. "I learned that in book club." He stated happily as he stood behind her.
"They're not just going to let either Julie or me back in." Chris paused, as she bumped into the ghost, both just staring at each other, not seeing the looks that they were gaining from the other two in the room. Julie deciding to interrupt the cute little moment let out a little cough causing Chris to finally look away from the ghost and make her way back over to her sandwich. "If getting back into music is what you want, then you gotta go for it." Luke said looking at the girl, "Learn from us. Your tainted hot dog could be right around the corner." He whispered, just as Chris was about to take a bite of her sandwich.
"Well there goes my appetite for the night." She mumbled throwing her sandwich down onto the cutting board. Julie just rolled her eyes before looking at Luke. "We don't even have anything prepared."
Both guys looked at each other with a smirk, before Reggie pulled a piece of paper our of his pocket and handing it to Luke. "We thought you'd say that. It's called Bright."
While unraveling that paper Julie leaned over her sisters shoulder to get a better glance on what was in his hand. "It's a Sunset Curve song that Reese and I wrote that we never got to record, but it's perfect for both of your ranges. Check out the chorus for a second. If Julie adds in a bit of piano and you sing, I'm telling you..."
Luke hit Reggie's shoulder to signal him, before the both of them started to sing.
(Luke and Reggie)
Your eyes, through the night
You and I
We will fight to shine together
Bright forever
Luke couldn't help but look at Chris, as he reminisced when him and Reese were creating this song together in the garage.
(All of them)
And rise through the night
You and I
We will fight to shine together
"Chris go up high, Julie meet in the middle."
Bright Forever
"Yes!" the four of them laughed enjoying the little moment between the four of them. "Thanks guys." Chris said as she hugged the two guys happily before the little moment was ruined. "Hey, Chris what's on you neck?" Reggie asked after seeing what looked to be a bruise on the girls neck. "Yeah, and who's sweatshirt is that?" Luke questioned, getting slightly jealous.
"It's nothing guys, ok." Chris tried to deny, but wasn't fast enough when Julie moved the sweatshirt over to see the bruise. "Chris what happened!?"
Quickly throwing her sisters hand off her, she made her way towards the door hoping to avoid the looks she was receiving. "It's nothing Jules, alright? It was a mistake and it won't happen again." With that being said Chris wished them all a goodnight before heading towards her room to hopefully get a decent amount of sleep before tomorrow.
Chris groaned before muttering, "What have I done?" before suffering through a restless night of sleep
Yikes, so you finally got to meet the ex, and trust me more drama is going to be happening between the two. Chris is kind of in the middle right now of getting better, but old habits die hard and Chris just needs help into seeing the brighter side of things. More chapters will be up later tonight, but homework needs to be done before that can happen sadly.
