Painful Lies

"Lost myself trying to please everyone else. Now I'm losing everyone while I'm finding myself."

~*~*~*~

"Hey"Chris said, as her and Julie made their way up the drive way, seeing Luke leaning against their post.

"Hey" Luke said back looking at the two making Chris sigh and regret a little on what she did. "I'm sorry for overstepping."

The boy just shook his head as he stepped closer to the girl. "No, I... I just had to leave. That was..."

"You don't have to say anything."

"Yeah, I do. Uh, I didn't have many regrets in my life except for running out on my parents, especially my mom, which you already knew, but thank you." Luke said looking mainly at Chris, seeing as Julie was mostly watching the two interact.

Chris sighed. "You helped me and my sister feel more connected to our mom, so I wanted to do the same thing for you."

"That was perfect." Luke said back a sincere smile on his face. Chris glanced down and saw him holding his hand out towards her, and she happily took it, making the two smile at each other as Luke rubbed his thumb on the girls knuckles. "This is an interesting little relationship you and I have."

Julie feeling a little awkward did a fake cough, hating how she ruined the cute moment between the two, but raised her hand. "I just remembered to tell you both that Flynn said the video that are dad made is trending on YouTube."

Glancing at the 90's boy, Chris couldn't help but laugh when he gave the two a confused look. "That's a good thing, that means people love our music." She said patting the boy on the shoulder with her other hand. "We'll definitely be getting calls from managers now."

The two girls smiled at each other, not noticing the sad look that Luke had in his eyes, knowing that he was about to cause some issues for not only him, Alex and Reggie but for Chris as well.

"There's something I have to tell you."

"Oh, ok?" Chris questioned, both girls attention on the boy now as he let out a sigh. "We figured out that we have unfinished business. That's why we came back as ghosts."

"Oh, what is it?" Julie walked forward, getting a bad feeling from the boy now as she saw him squeeze her sisters hand.

"We have to play the show we never got to play."

"At the Orpheum?" Chris said, not understanding on why this was as important. The boys had forever to play it now since they were dead, meaning they had awhile till they had to necessarily say goodbye to them. "That makes sense."

What Chris and Julie weren't expecting was to see not only Luke fall back in pain because of Calebs mark, but Chris as well. Both her and Luke groaned as Luke slammed into one of the pillars, Chris fell to the floor next to her sister.

Catching his breathe more quicker than Chris, he looked at the two. "We don't have a lot of time."

"What was that?" Julie questioned as she checked on her sister, who was still struggling to catch her breath. "Are you ok?"

"I'm fine Jules." She wheezed as she attempted to stand, Julie obviously helping her. "But, Luke whats happening?"

The boy looked towards the ground, not wanting to see the sisters faces when he gave them the news. "We did something that we shouldn't have, the night that we missed the dance, we met this ghost, and he put this curse on us. And if we don't do what he says, then those jolts will destroy us."

"My one question to that though, is why is Chris getting them?" She asked angrily not caring about the boys at the moment, but rather her sister. "Huh? Why is she facing these so called jolts if she isn't even a ghost."

"Alex's friend, Willie, said I got an extra stamp and when I touched Chris' arm that night I transferred over a stamp to her." Luke said, looking between the two.

"So, whats going to happen to me? Like Julie said I'm not a ghost like you guys." Chris asked urgently.

"Willie said that if he couldn't get you while you're living, then he'll make sure to get you as a ghost."

Both Julie and Chris felt their heart break at the moment, knowing that if she didn't find a way to get rid of this stamp than her family might have to suffer another loss in the family and none of them were ready for that.

Julie not comprehending anything that was being said, desperately looked at Luke. "Then you gotta do what he says, what does he want?"

"He wants us to be in his house band for eternity, but if we can play the Orpheum soon, then we can avoid all that and actually cross over and hopefully with us gone, Chris can lose the mark seeing as she might no longer be any use to him." Luke looked at the sisters, but what made his heart break was the pain filled eyes locked with his own.

"Cross over?" Chris muttered, "As in, like what? Like go to heaven?"

"That's what we're banking on."

With anger laced in her voice she walked over to Luke, pushing her heart broken sister behind her as in way to protect her. "So it's either you cross over, be in his band with my sister for eternity, or watch you guys and my sister be destroyed by those jolts?"

"Yeah." Was all Luke could say to her, as he watched Chris eyes fill with tears as Julie rolled her eyes. "That's just great."

Not wanting to be in the boys presence anymore she grabbed her sisters hand from the ghost, who at first reached for it only to retract, as they went towards the front door only stopping when Chris whispered her sisters name. At first Luke looked at the girl with hope, but was quick to lose it when he felt a sharp sting come across his face.

Luke looked up and saw the anger that was in her eyes as tears continued to stream down her face. No one said anything, as Chris and Julie retreated into the house, leaving a crying Luke to stand on the porch holding his cheek, a reminder of what he just caused for the Molina household.

Another pain filled sigh left the eldest Molina's mouth as she laid on her younger sisters bed, Julie just watching for a second before looking back at the drawing, not being able to see her sister being tortured. Luckily the jolt ended a lot sooner that the others, especially since Flynn just so happened to walk into the room at that very moment.

"Hey, I got your guys text." Flynn whispered, still not believing that one of her fiends might be actually dying.

"Don't come too close." Julie said, "Anyone I seem to care about disappears." Hearing that just made Chris hurt more as she slowly moved over towards her sister and pulled her into a hug as Julie looked at Flynn.

"You can't get rid of me, I'm like the crazy glue of best friends." Flynn smiled walking over to the girls and joining the hug for a second before pulling away and siting at the tiny bench, when Julie started to talk. "I just don't get it. Right when my life starts to get good. Great friends, great sister, great band, great guy... then bam!" Julie shouted holding up her little art piece.

Chris yanked the pad out of her sisters hand and flipped it to a blank page as she grabbed a pencil that was on the bed, and started to draw something, feeling too tired to really talk at the moment.

"I seriously don't know why all of this is happening to you two, but that's gonna be a great album cover one day." Flynn said before picking up the sweater that was to the left of her, being a little bit of a neat freak, she started to fold it. "You don't have to do that." Julie said.

Flynn just rolled her eyes. "I know, but I get to check our all your mom's cool stuff." As she was looking around a familiar design peeked her interest. "Whoa, did you know this was in here?" Flynn pulled out the bedazzled shirt and showed it to the two.

Chris finally looking up letting out a gasp as she reached out for the familiar clothing, while Julie just stared at it in disbelief. "What the heck?"

"How do you think she got it?"

"I don't know, but the guys said they didn't know our mom. Why would they lie?"

"Maybe they didn't" Flynn said yanking the t-shirt back as her friend just moved back towards the bed and back to her drawing. "Maybe she knew them, she could be a fan!"

Looking back up and towards Flynn she finally spoke. "If she was a fan, I think I would remember, but I mean Sunset Curve was playing the Hollywood club scene around then, so maybe."

"Oh my gosh." Flynn whispered, before looking at Julie. "What if you were right? What if the guys are connected to your mom? You know, through music or something."

Julie looked at her friend confused. "Because she bought their T-shirt?"

The girl just rolled her eyes before walking towards Julie and Chris. "Think about it, they were the ones who made you wanna play music again and were the ones who helped Chris be her old self. Maybe she knew they could help you both."

"So, you mean to tell me that our mom," Julie pointing between the two of them, "Is somewhere out there planning all this? If she wanted me to play music again and Chris to be her old self, why wouldn't she just tell us herself?"

"Maybe she can't. Maybe she has to do it another way. You know, through signs." Flynn suggested before walking back over to the trunk. "You've been through these clothes how many times and haven't found this T-shirt? Why now?"

"Are you trying to tell us that it's another sign?" Chris questioned, as she smudged some of the lines to make the image looked shaded.

Flynn just sighed. "I'm just saying, It's not over, Julie. The same goes for you Chris, we're going to find a way to save you I promise."

"Really, signs?" Julie questioned.

"You're in a ghost band, with an Elena Gilbert for a sister." Flynn gestured towards Chris who just waved her hand, not really caring about the conversation. "It's a crazy world. Look, you're gonna lose them no matter what, and it sucks but they helped bring you both back to life. Now it's your turn to help them and your sister, Jules. The guys have to cross over, you got to let them go."

Flynn smiled at the girls, as she turned back towards the trunk leaving Julie to rethink about her feelings. With a final mark, Chris smiled and happily handed her sister the masterpiece that was on the paper. Julie taking it glanced down and smiled at the paper, feeling pressure on her forehead, before she felt her sister move towards the door waiting for Julie to join.

~*~*~*~

When Chris and Julie entered the garage, they were a little lost as they watched Reggie strum his guitar enthused, Luke to just stare at the roof tear stains on his still reddened check and Alex to be attempting to balance a drum stick on his nose.

Having enough of this depressing tone, Julie shouted. "Snap out of it!" Causing the guys to freak as Alex fell off the couch, throwing his drum sticks, one nailing Chris in the face. "Ok, ow."

"Jeez, I think you broke Alex and Chris." Reggie said looking at the rolling drum stick and Chris rubbing her forehead.

"Do you guys want to cross over or what?" Chris sighed, as she watched Alex attempt to get back on the couch, Luke helping in the process, but no signs of the three agreeing with her, so clapping her hands angrily she looked at the group. "Get it together!"

Luke just rolled his eyes at the girl. "They're never gonna let us play the Orpheum."

"We're nobody." Alex said, Reggie pointing at him. "We're less than nobody. We have no bodies." Luke snapped his fingers and pointed towards the bass player to show he was agreeing with him, earring an eye roll from the Molina sisters.

Chris walked over to the boys and sat on the table in front of them. "Someone once told me that you don't ask for permission, you book gigs by doing." Making sure to look at Luke more than anything.

"That was me." Reggie smiled, only receiving looks from the two.

"No, it wasn't." They both said shaking their head at him, as he looked away. "Yes, it was."

Julie spoke up, wanting to get back on subject. "This isn't over. We were brought together for a reason, to help each other."

Alex pointed towards his band member who was still staring at Chris. "Yeah, but like Luke said, people don't just play the Orpheum because they want to." Julie just shrugged her shoulders at his comment. "People don't, but ghosts do."

The group was a little confused, but at the same time they all smiled as they prepared to find a way to book what might be their last and final group gig.

So, with that we're on the last episode of this book, and guys it's been an amazing ride. I was checking out my stats and I'm still number one for the tag on thephantoms, but sadly I did lose my place for flynn. Yet, I am shocked when I saw I have the number one spot not only for owenjoyner, but for booboostewart as well. Guys this made me so happy I started to cry, it was amazing to see that this book was getting so much love.

For what people were wondering what Chris was drawing she drew this for Julie, I don't own this drawing so shout out to the artist who does.
