After school Special (C+L)

"Was this love? It was like a consuming flame, licking through my defenses at a slow burn."

Julie was in the music room playing the piano notes for the song perfect harmony, smiling at the memories that where playing in her head.

"There you are." Chris shouted before looking back. "Flynn I found her!"

Just after saying that, in came the best friend who looked concerned after her and Christine watched Julie run out of the gym like it was on fire or something.

"We've been looking all over for you, Jules. Why'd you run out of dance class so fast?"

"Sorry, I just needed some air. It was a little intense in there." Julie admitted, earning smiles from her sister and best friend. "Oh, we noticed." Flynn said happily. "Dancing with a guy you've had a crush on for forever will do that to a girl."

"Yeah, but the whole time we were dancing, I was thinking about Reggie." Julie said awkwardly not looking at her sister.

"Seriously?"

"I called it!" Chris shouted, smiling at her younger sister who just glared at her. "Alright, shutting up now."

Flynn just shook her head at the girl. "First of all like Chris, I called it. Secondly, I know you always want what you can't have, but Reggie is next-level."

"I know." Julie groaned. "And now I think Nick likes me, Nick!" Chris could tell this whole dilemma was really hurting her sister, Flynn not helping the situation. "Oh. He totally does." Causing Julie to sigh. "But me and Reggie just clicked and he's so-"

"Not real." Chris said sadly, as she started to realize her little sisters situation was like hers, just with Luke. "You can make all the music you want with Lu-Reggie, but he'll always be a phantom." She said, looking away from the girls, who didn't notice.

"So, here's what we're gonna do." Flynn suggested with a little sneaky grin on her face as she took Julie phone off the piano. "Send Nick a nice little friendly text asking him to come to 'your' party tonight." Julie gettin to see a little of what Flynn was typing, looked at her friend. "Um, I usually don't use that many smiley faces."

Flynn just smiled at her friend. "You do now. I'm not gonna let you get your heart broken and trust me, tonight you're performing with Reggie, so the key is avoiding those big, beautiful, dead eyes."

Julie looked at her friend with concern. "You're very pushy today." Only getting a smile and a response from the girl. "You're welcome, now what's up with you missy?" Flynn asked looking at the eldest Molina who was still staring at nothing,

"Hm?" Chris asked finally rejoining the girls. "What's with me?"

"Yeah, what's with you?" Flynn asked, and when Chris heard this she had to admit she was terrified that Flynn was talking about her relationship with Luke. She could honestly say she had no idea what was happening between him and her, because every single time they talk her heart hurts, not in pain but something that she never wanted to feel again. "Julie told me about you passing out when you got home from the dance, but you really haven't talked about it."

When hearing that, the girl let out a breath of relief that it wasn't what she was originally thinking. "I'm fine Flynn, don't worry about it."

"Are you sure Ris, because I agree with Flynn, you've been acting weird." Julie looked at her sister in concern, but only revived a shrug. "I'm fine Julie I promise."

"Chris talk to me please, ever since you woke up you've been acting weird." Julie once again said, this time grabbing her older sisters arms, but the girl still wouldn't look at her younger sister. "What's there to say Julie?"

Julie rolled her eyes, but for once knew that she needed to bring up the one topic that might have been the cause for her sister to start closing off again. "Umm...how about you and Luke for instance?" Once she said that, Chris finally looked up at her sister, Flynn watching the two with a raised eyebrow. "Theres nothing between us and that's it." The girl said before taking off ignoring her sister and friends calls.

"Great, we got an angry birthday girl on our hands."

"Flynn, honey." Julie said as she looked at her friends with a sickly sweet smile on her face. "Shut up."

"Ok."

Meanwhile in the garage the boys were practicing the song they made last night for Chris, but as they continued the drum part started to get more and more aggressive. Luke and Reggie slowly came to a stop and just watched Alex, who kept drumming until he finally realized the other two.

"Alex, you all right?" Luke asked walking towards the boy, worried about his best friend ever since he came back in the garage after talking to Willie this afternoon. "Yeah. Yeah, why?"

"I know it's tough, man. People say you never forget your first ghost." Reggie said hoping to help the boy a little. "Maybe that's true, but I'm sure there will be others." Alex looked at the boy and had to admit that his friend was right, if Willie didn't feel the same he had no right to feel like it was his fault. "Yeah, thanks Reg."

"And, Alex, you're a great drummer and a great guy, ok? I wouldn't let all that stuff get in between you and what you love." Luke suggested, unknowingly causing Reggie and Alex to look at each other, Reggie smiling. "I don't know, man. Sometimes a little fire can make things better on stage." Luke looking at the boy, confused. "Like you and Chris."

Luke, smiled at the girls name remembering what happened earlier today between the two of them. Yet, not wanting to give away his feelings he looked between the two band members. "Uh, wha...what is that supposed to mean?" Causing Reggie to chuckle at the boy, Alex joining in knowing the same thing. "Come on. Everyone can see the way you look at her when you sing. You guys ooze chemistry."

Alex looked uncomfortable, after Reggie said that. "You should never say 'ooze' again, but, yeah I agree." Alex said looking back at Luke, who took off his guitar a little annoyed that the boys wouldn't stop talking about him and Chris.

"Ok, no. I have chemistry with everybody that I sing with." He said, but only got grins from the two. "Seriously, watch. Uh..." Luke tried to think of a way to prove this, and with quick thinking he started to sing as he walked closer to Reggie. "I believe, I believe that we're just one dream. Away from who we're meant to be." Luke grabbed Reggies cheek, staring at the boy. "That we're standing on the edge of... Great."

"Wow. I see chemistry." Alex said sarcastically, knowing he was just doing that to spite the boys, Reggie not so much. "That was pretty hot." Reggie said flustered, only to have Luke kiss his fingers before pressing them to his lips.

"Girls. Am I right?" Reggie said, now trying to get on a different subject.

"Yeah."

"No." Alex said smiling before counting down to continue their band practice.

The last bell rang, signaling that school was over for the day, and as students left either to find the bus, go to their cars or to walk home, Chris was chilling in the gym stretching as she looked at herself through the mirrors that were still up from earlier today.

"Remember to turn the lights off Christine, alright." Mrs. Thompson said as she carried her purse with her, only getting a nod from the girl. "You have a good night and happy birthday." With that the woman left, leaving the girl alone to her own world as she finished stretching. After a few minutes the girl finally grabbed a drink of water and started setting the speaker up to start working on a dance, to hopefully calm her down before she had to go home for their gig tonight.

As she sashayed towards the side before doing a spin, she was startled when a grip formed on her hips, and with a quick jerk the girl fell backwards landing on her butt hard. "Ow. Luke what are you doing here?" She asked staring at the boy who now wore a sheepish smile on his face.

"I was just seeing how you were, since Julie came home saying that she couldn't find you and all." He said, scratching the back of his neck, before getting a good look around and hearing the soft melody of the piano coming from the speakers. "Were you dancing?"

"Uh, yeah. Whenever I get over worked or something, I either expresses those emotions through my music, art or dance." She said, this time as she walked back over to the speaker to turn the music off, but a hand grabbed hers, before she could stop the song. "W-What are you doing?"

Luke just smiled before pulling the girl back towards the center of the room, placing his hands once again on the girls hips, a small smile on his face. "Like I said earlier I'm a great dance partner." With that he once again spun the girl, who laughed before going along with the boy.

As the song reached the end, Luke was about to stop, but instead Chris pulled him closer as she waited for the next song to play, another piano melody coming through the speakers. Yet, what Luke wasn't expecting was the girl to start singing as she pulled the boy into what reminded him of a waltz, something his mother taught him saying that it would help him win over a girl more.

(Chris, Luke, Both)

When I first saw you

Didn't know what to think

But something about you

Is so interesting

As she sang that the girl brushed her hands gently on the boys check, as her back was now towards Lukes, her looking at him over her shoulder. The boy just gazed at her, though her eyes never met his, before he spun her out of his arms.

I could see me and you being best friends

Luke could feel his heart break, so did Chris but none of them saying anything as they continued to dance around the gym, him now taking the lead.

The kind of friends

That finish each other's sentences

When I can't think of the right words to say

I just sing oh~oh~oh~oh~oh~oh~oh

Oh~oh~oh~oh~oh~oh~oh

Come on and harmonize with my melody

And we'll sing oh~oh~oh~oh~oh~oh~oh

Ain't it a perfect harmony

She sang her hands slowly falling down after being raised in the air, as she looked down, thinking about how the two of them could never be no matter how much her heart was yearning for boy. As she shook her head about to turn the music off, she stopped when she heard the familiar voice of the boy coming from behind her.

I would have never thought I'd be here with you

Luke sang as he grabbed the girls hands, looking into the girls eyes and seeing not only his best friend, but the girl he slowly started to fall for stare back at him.

To start a friendship that is so brand new

It's so amazing I have to say

Never met someone that had so much in common with me~

He hated to agree with the guys sometimes, but as he picked the girl up and spun her around, her hands once again out and enjoying the moment, he knew that he was falling for the girl or like Reggie said he was oozing chemistry.

Now I can look into your eyes all day

And just say oh~oh~oh~oh~oh~oh~oh

oh~oh~oh~oh~oh~oh~oh

I wanna harmonize with your melody

And we'll sing oh~oh~oh~oh~oh~oh~oh

Ain't it a perfect harmony

The two looked at each other as Luke sat her down finally, Luke watched the girl who turned around once again, her back towards his chest, as she grabbed his hands them doing a twist.

Sometimes in your lifetime

You look and you search for someone just to care

Look around and it was there

And we didn't need to go nowhere~

When I can't think of the right words to say

Right words to say

I just sing oh~oh~oh~oh~oh~oh~oh

oh~oh~oh~oh~oh~oh~oh

Come on and harmonize with my melody

And we'll sing oh~oh~oh~oh~oh~oh~oh

Ain't a perfect harmony

You got me

I got you

I got you

You got me

Yeah you got me

I got you~

A Luke gripped the girls hands after having the two of them mirror each other, the two gazed up staring into each others eyes, smiles on their hands as they sang the last three words of the song, the piano music coming to a peaceful ending.

A perfect harmony~

Silence rang through the gym, the two still gazing into each others eyes as they both breathed a little heavily from singing and dancing a few seconds ago. Chris once again felt the tug to lean in and close the little distance that was between her and him, Luke feeling the same thing. Yet, it seemed the world had other plans as Luke and Chris felt pain jolt through their bodies both to not seeing the other in pain, more focused on not falling down.

"I hate Caleb."

"Why does this keeping happening to me." Both Chris and Luke asked, before the two of them looked up each other, eyes growing in size, neither one of them saying anything only thinking as Chris rushed out of the gym and Luke disappearing.

"Was I about to kiss her/him?"

So, yeah I found out there was another song called perfect harmony, and I completely forgot about that until I was rewatching the movie called Rags which I highly recommend. Also sorry no kissing....yet.
