13. The Ball
Reina: I had to make several edits to make a more logical story.

"Are we there yet?" Aryll asked.
I glared at her. "Don't even start that game, Aryll."
"Are we there yet?" She asked again.
"No."
"Are we there yet?"
"No."
"Are we there yet?"
"No."
"Are we there yet?"
"No!"
"Are we there yet?" Sheik asked, smirking.
"No!"
"Are we there yet?" He asked again.
"No."
"Are we there yet?"
"Heck no, Sheik!" Lexy replied. "We are in the middle of the road!"
I looked at Lexy. "Thanks."
She nodded back. "No problem. I have a brother who does that too."
Sheik looked like he was trying not to laugh. "Sorry, I just wanted to try it."
I sighed. "It's fine. Just don't do it again."
Sheik nodded. "Promise."
The four of us were headed to Zelda's Ball. Originally, Aryll had no clue who to go with, so Sheik volunteered, as he was an ally of Zelda, Vaati could get in trouble for appearing at the castle, Shadow was like her brother (apparently he is our brother), and Ghirahim... Self-explanatory. We had gotten ready, and then we were informed that a carriage would take us, much to our chagrin.
I looked back at Lexy. Her blonde hair was braided behind her, and Alicia had inserted gems in it. She wore a dark blue dress with long sleeves and it had swirls on it, like a winter dress. She originally wanted to wear a dress with a skull on it, but Zelda didn't allow stuff like that in her court.
Aryll wore a pink dress with sleeves, with hearts all over it and a bow tied in the back. Her hair was loose, and she wore our mother's ruby necklace. For a moment, she looked like Mom, and I quickly blinked, only to see Aryll smiling at me.
Sheik wore a tuxedo like me, and everyone agreed that it didn't look good on us. Sheik looked like himself in his Sheikah outfit, and apparently I looked good in everything I owned but a tuxedo, according to Lexy and Alicia. Crazy girls.
Aryll brought me out of my thoughts. "You look like Dad."
"You look like Mom."
Aryll sniffed. "I miss them."
I reached to her and squeezed her hand. "I do too."
Sheik looked at us. "You guys okay?"
"Not really..." I admitted.
We rode in silence for a bit. Aryll began to cry, and I hugged her. Sheik looked away, thinking about his family, and Lexy looked deep in thought. We sat there in silence, making it seem forever although it was only a few minutes.
"Can we go back home now?" Aryll asked as we arrived at the castle.
"Can't," I responded. I got off and helped Lexy out. Sheik did the same with Aryll. We all waved at the driver, who didn't notice us. We shrugged and walked to the castle. Many people didn't notice us, and I actually thought of returning home.
We entered the ballroom. It was all decorated with symbols of Hyrule and stuff, but it was overkill. Lexy cursed.
"Ghirahim's party room is better this stuff," Aryll admitted.
"Nope," Lexy said. "I've seen better, like Homecomings and stuff."
"Keep your voices down," I reminded them. I didn't want to get busted for talking about our "enemies".
Sheik nodded. "He's right."
"Sup Link!" A familiar voice yelled behind me.
I sighed. "Hello, Groose."
He walked up and gave me a fist bump. "Haven't seen you in a while! What have you been up to?"
"I've been busy."
Groose nodded. I still remembered how he was a bully a year ago, but recently he's matured. "Can we talk a second?"
I looked to my companions. They nodded. So I followed Groose out of the room.
When we left the room, Groose looked angry. "Why did you leave?"
"Zelda. Remember how I was ditched at the ball and ridiculed by everyone? I couldn't stand it. So I left in order to recharge."
Groose gaped at me. "So that's why. Because of Blake, that stupid White Knight!"
I nodded.
Groose grumbled. "Everything got worse when you left. Nothing got done correctly. The White Knight terrorizes us. But now I see..." Groose shook his head. "Much as I would like to chat, I have work. And Link," he added as he turned. "Beware the Knight's wrath."
Groose left and I returned to the ball. Lexy waved to me, and I joined her.
"Something wrong?"
I nodded. "Not now."
The music began to play. I held my hand out, and Lexy grabbed it. We began to dance, and I noticed Sheik doing the same with Aryll. We kept dancing for several minutes.
When the song ended, Zelda entered the room with Blake. She grabbed a mic and began to speak.
"Welcome to my ball! I thank you all for coming. Tonight we have some special guests!"
"Probably a prince," Sheik muttered.
"Or the White Knight," Lexy added.
"We have Link, the Hero of Time and Twilight, and his sister Aryll!"
Everyone turned to look at us. Aryll hid behind Sheik. I didn't smile back. Neither did Sheik. Lexy stood in front of me, but as she is shorter than I am, she didn't really block their stares.
After several seconds, music filled the air, and people began to dance. I grabbed Lexy and we continued to dance. Midway through the song, Lexy tripped.
"You okay?" I asked.
She shook her head. "It feels like my ankle broke. I hate heels."
I picked Lexy up, freaking her out, and I walked her to the side of the room. After having her seated, Sheik and Aryll came over. Aryll looked at Lexy's foot. "It's broken! Link, get a doctor!"
Nodding, I dashed to find a doctor. Multiple girls tried to talk to me, but I ran past them. I hated to be the star of the show, so Lexy's foot was a good excuse to avoid people. And I feel like a jerk for saying that.
After finding I doctor, I was going to bring him back when a hand grabbed my shoulder. I froze, and the doctor looked at me. I pointed him to Lexy, and turned to see who was behind me.
Zelda smiled. "Hi Link!" She wore her green dress and green shawl, but I didn't pay attention to that. I was focused on Aryll, Lexy, and Sheik.
"Hey," I responded.
Zelda grabbed my arm and laid her head on my chest. "I've missed you, Rinku."
I panicked a bit. First, Zelda ditches me, then she tries to hug me? I tried to push her, but noticed people surrounding us, so I moved her to the balcony outside the ballroom.
"You didn't say much last time," Zelda told me.
"There wasn't much to say," I replied. I knew that I was lying, but all I had to say would make me wind up in jail. And honestly, I didn't want to tell her.
Zelda looked upset. "Rinku..." She began to cry, causing me to freak out. Sighing, I put my hand on her head and the other on her back. This brought back memories, and I closed my eyes.
"What are you doing with Zelda?" Blake spat.
I opened my eyes and glared at him. "Comforting her."
"You damned liar!"
Zelda turned to look at him, confused at what was happening. I pulled Zelda behind me and growled.
"Stupid wolf."
"I am not a wolf!" I yelled.
Blake sighed. "You obviously want to use Zelda for her money."
"Says the person who makes me sign those papers and extorts money from everyone!"
Zelda gasped. Blake's eyes widened.
"H-how-"
"Zelda would never have me sign that stuff, you wretched soul."
Zelda got in front of me, angry at my outburst. "What is your deal? You can't go and insult my boyfriend!"
I noticed Sheik looking at me. I clenched my fists, and walked past Zelda and Blake.
"Rinku?" Zelda asked.
"Don't call me Rinku, and I don't want to see you again," I told Zelda without looking back. Walking up to Sheik, I said, "We're leaving."
Sheik nodded. "Already notified our staff. Our carriage has arrived."
I walked over to Lexy, whose foot was healed. I held her hand and led her out, along with Sheik and Aryll. People tried to talk to us, but we ignored them.
Upon leaving the castle, we saw Ghirahim as the chauffeur and Vaati as the footman.
"It went bad," Vaati said. He opened the door and bowed.
"We are never going to come back to a dance," I declared after entering.
"Agreed!" Everyone else yelled.
After we were seated, Ghirahim made the horses move, and away we went, not looking back at the castle, and not thinking of Zelda.
Reina: Okay, so when I wrote this, Sheik was a boy, but then I discovered that Sheik was actually a girl. I left it like this, for the reason stated above, plus Young Link was out of town and Daiki (another character had yet to appear)
