Chapter 3
Sitting on the bed, Justin fondled around with his wrist watch while Ryu fixed her storage since it was very unorganized. An organized storage space is very important in Arena Breakout since you need every inch of that box to store everything from simple things like food to the expensive modified weapons or important items like the famous secret document that is valued around 5.2 million koens, the most expensive item in the game to date.
While fondling around with the wrist watch, Justin finds three different functions of the watch which are definitely helpful.
[Market] - A place to buy and sell any items, the market is a very large place that every player can access when they reach level 3, but you must reach level 10 to start selling items. An important thing to remember, item prices on the market are always changing so better keep an eye on that item's price before buying it.
[Gunsmith] - The gunsmith is accessible when reaching level 5, this place is where you build your best or cursed weapons with hundreds of attachments. The only limit is your imagination.
[Map] - A pretty basic feature in many games, the map of Arena Breakout shows the bird's eye view of everything. However, it doesn't show real time updates.
"And done." Ryu said, standing up and dusting off her hands. She turned her attention to Justin. "So, what did you find on our wrist watches?" She asked.
"Well, I found the market, gunsmith, and map." Justin said. "But."
"But what?" Ryu asked, sitting beside Justin.
"The gunsmith and map function normally like in game, but I noticed that the market also functions normally as if we were playing the game." Justin explained, but Ryu seemed to be confused. Justin has a habit of explaining things that many people aren't easily able to understand.
"What do you mean?" Ryu asked, pulling up the market on her own wrist watch.
"The prices are being updated in real time." Justin said, pointing at Ryu's hologram screen. "As if we are still playing in the game which is impossible because look where we are! We are in a ruined city of Berlin." He said, gesturing to his hologram screen displaying the map of Berlin.
"I see your point." Ryu said, then a moment of silence filled the room. "What should we do?" She asked.
Justin stood up, walked over to his storage box and grabbed his M4A1.
"We explore." Justin said, inserting a new magazine to his gun.
[A few moments later]
Justin slightly opened the door first and peeked left and right before opening the door fully, he held his modified M4A1 chambered in 5.56x45mm M995 tier 5 bullets closely, while Ryu followed with her John Wick build MPX chambered in the 9x19mm 7N31 tier 4 bullets. Both of them wore armor that are at least level 3 or above and large backpacks to hold items if they managed to come across some.
Ryu pulled out the map on her watch as she tapped Justin's shoulder.
"There's a supermarket near us, let's head there for supplies if there's left." Ryu said.
Justin nodded without speaking a word, the duo started to move out towards the supermarket. While keeping on high alert for anyone whether it's possible allies or enemies.
[Moments later]
Justin slowly walked before snapping to the right side, pointing his gun inside the supermarket just in case. Ryu walked behind him before entering the supermarket through the broken electric glass sliding doors, Justin followed right behind as the duo pointed their guns on the left and right while walking.
The sound of their footsteps and equipment are the only sounds in the supermarket. The place was like hit by a storm judging how messy things are, it was clear there was some kind of panic that had happened in the place. Justin threw a flashlight to Ryu which she caught flawlessly and turned it on.
They separate from each other, Justin went to the left while Ryu to the right.
[Ryu POV]
I listened to Justin's footsteps slowly moving away from me while I continued walking through the aisles, I crouched down, put down my gun and took off my bag as I began to grab canned tuna. Of course, I checked the expiration dates before putting them in my bag.
I stood up and continued moving around. This place is messy, I flash the flashlight on the shelves to see if there's anything interesting to get. I grabbed a few more food items along the way until I flashed my flashlight on the floor and saw something red. I quickly moved to the red object to find it as dried blood. I quickly whistled to Justin as I followed the trail of the dried blood.
The blood trail enters the storage room to which I can smell something really foul. Justin tapped my shoulder as I slightly opened the door, I watched Justin slowly open the door as he entered inside, I followed suit to find a rotting corpse. I felt sick like I was going to vomit from the sight of the body.
Justin went closer to the body and inspected it. I left the room since I couldn't take in the smell and sight of the corpse. I pumped my chest and shook my head trying my best to forget what I saw.
"The corpse was in its late stages of rotting, it was female." Justin said stepping out of the room, I know him being smart to things like these since judging how much YouTube shorts he always watched. "Torn clothes, clear signs of struggle, and wounds from a knife." He explained.
"That mean she died from a knife wound or something else?" I asked him.
"She either already had been wounded prior or-"
"No need to explain." I stopped him from continuing his sentence.
"Suit yourself." Justin said, shrugging.
He walked away somewhere, I moved away from the room so I can breathe better than smelling that foul rotting corpse. Justin returned a few moments with a white cloth, he entered the room to which I guess covered the corpse before exiting it. He patted my shoulder.
"You good?" He asked.
"Yeah, just still shaken up a bit." I replied.
[Third POV]
Justin continues to check Ryu like an older sibling to an younger sibling, pretty wholesome, but the duo suddenly hid behind the store shelves once they felt and heard marching. Holding their weapons closely, they both peeked outside together to find a group of people and a mech that is similar to the Löwe mech from the 86 anime, but more blocky than its sharp edged cousin.
The group of people looked like women wearing futuristic armor and purple visors covering their eyes, while the spider-like mech was in the middle of the group. Justin and Ryu sees writing on the mech's gun which is "SF" with a fire-like symbol next to it. The duo realized the writing and symbol, it's the Sangvis Ferri.
