37; PHOTOGRAPH PART TWO
~Steve's POV~
Wow, this is a really nice... Penthouse...
I thought to myself as I started walking around, until my eyes stop scanning the place. Hopefully to take my mind off from the Hanna Pierce...
My eyes stopped before a window door, leading to the balcony.
Because there she is.
~Amelia's POV~
Double homicide, autopsy shows victims felt blunt force trauma towards the cervical vertebrae, as indicated by the blah blah blah--
Woo, third file of the God damn pile. That's right, cataloging evidence is not my strongest point. Which practically meant, paperwork is horrible. I hate it.
I'd rather perform autopsies, toxicology tests, search CODIS database, test ballistics, or whatever besides paperwork at this state. I can still feel my scar, where the projectile of that bullet embedded on my lower abdomen. I'd rather travel all the way to Quantico and log into my laboratory and start performing with my team. Oh well, at least I get to stay home.
Blue the kitten is laying on my lap, snuggling against my chest as if I were his teddy bear. Never could have I thought that kittens are this, cuddly. Its amazing. He couldn't stop gazing up at me with his baby blues, although sometimes he would briefly glance at other living things. Like birds flying past the balcony.
Wind is doing me a favor by not blowing all of these files up, so thanks for that. Plus, its nice to be outside, basking underneath the summer sun. Which isn't that bad because it isn't too warm today in Arlington, Virginia. Quite enjoyable.
I frown once I finish the file, I mean who wouldn't frown? All of these people dead from purposefully being murdered by... Other people that are either mentally unstable or are doing it for other people or-or in definitely, other ways. Like for their, sickening entertainment.
Guess I just like avenging, in a normal way. That is, if you would consider this kind of normal.
Sighing, I checked my phone. 3:00 p.m. Well, 2:57, but close enough.
Opening the useful device, I check the photo gallery, comparing his eyes to the little bundle of fluff relaxing on my lap. But they are just too similar.
The picture in my phone was taken almost weeks ago. At the helicarrier. Inside the training arena.
He was in his white shirt and same old workout sweats, holding a punching bag in balance beneath his bandaged hands. With the smile of perfect teeth, and rosy, flushed cheeks, and especially those eyes where the ocean can be envious for once. Heck, probably the kitten too.
Blue purred against my chest, I laugh. "Too bored, eh?"
He meowed in an agreeable response. I agree with him instantly, "yeah, I feel your struggle."
Then I set him down on the floor. He quickly scurried straight through the dog door that leads back inside the penthouse. Or I suppose it's already the cat and dog door.
Watching his paws immediately dart back inside, I resume back to scanning the photo. It was probably his first, normal photo. I thought to myself about that, thinking that this picture is way different than photos SHIELD had to take since he defrosted. I slightly from as I stare back up at the sky, sighing in the city air.
Then I am back to recent case files.
~Blue's POV~ (A/N: That's right. This is the cat's, I mean, sorry, kitten's point of view. I've settled on the name 'Blue'. Damn straight.)
Entering the big place as I keep running with my four paws, I immediately halted in front of a big thing. Actually, a big person looking thing. My paws stood on the fluffy carpet before this big person looking thing.
Gazing up at the towering, big person, the person looked down upon me like I am a tiny mouse compared to an elephant. And as the gentle giant an elephant is, the person's lips curled into a small, soft smile.
My head tilts at the "elephant's" action, but his familiar face starts racing through my brain. I was hesitant to take a few steps backwards away from the giant. Wondering who and how the person seems known in my mind palace. (A/N: Lol sherlocked af.)
The person held flowers tied into a string and were brought together by some sort of clear plastic and colored, paper tissue in one hand. The flowers' varied in different shapes and colors, very vibrant. Like the summer weather outside in the large, outdoor room with her inside.
I guess this person is a "he". It would make sense. A boy and girl. Or in this case, a woman and a man. He kept staring back down at me, with those blue eyes that she couldn't stop comparing mine to. Can be quite annoying to be compared. Suppose I met my rival in the battle of the baby blues.
Scrunching my nose, I start purring and rubbing my sides to his ankles and feet. He shook back, but then chuckled huskily. "A little kitten... Amelia hasn't told me about having a cat." That must be her name.
Finally, he crouched down and I sat, my tail roaming the floor side to side . He starts petting my slowly, as I enjoy and purr at his touch. "Meow," I say, as he starts rubbing and tickling my sides. Which I am honestly not too fazed about unlike dogs. Like Sugar, who can be too quirky at times.
I like this man. He then mutters to himself, "thank God I no longer have allergies." I don't understand.
"Meow?" I thought about how Amelia panicked once she caught sight of a kitten in her home, aka me. He laughs, "yeah, she did tell me about the allergies. Ironic since she can... ha, probably you have no idea about that. Yet." The man said, deep in thought and seemed joyed about her. He kneeled in one leg in front of me, still petting me.
He then nervously looked at the clear window door behind me, where my new mommy is sitting comfortably on a lounge chair outside on the balcony. "Meow?" I snap from his long staring, his gaze returning to mine. Then I raise myself to my hind legs and my claws clung to his trousers. He seemed shaken back, "whoa there, kitty."
Laughing, he scoops me up in one arm. It was uncomfortable at first, but after positioning and squirming myself in his arm, I finally became less furious at his sudden action. "I'm Steve," he introduces himself, and just like mommy, completely comfortable with conversing along a kitty. "Meow, meow..." He smiles, showing my the flowers.
"Let's bring you back to your mommy." Then he began walking towards the balcony.
~Third Person's POV~
Steve took a glimpse through the glass door that led to the balcony. Her hair shone underneath the sun, three strands woven into a tousled side braid.
Amelia kept scanning the file, frowning and saddening thoughts overwhelm her mind now and then. Those names who never got the opportunity of avoiding their tragic fate. The ways they suffered, quick or slow, painful or easy, hesitant or eager, vulnerable or ready. The killer in its kill varies, based on her experience.
He frowned once he noticed an FBI file in her hand, a little angered on what other people can do. The kitten in his arm seemed to not really mind, as the kitten's skepticism of Steve overcrowd his head. Steve looked down at the bundle of fluff once more, then focused on turning the knob of the balcony door. It swung open.
"Wow, Dr. Watson canceling his appointment, again?" She remarked, her eyes never leaving the file in hand. Unaware that the person entering the balcony isn't Abbey.
Steve let out a small laugh, "sorry, not Abbey." Her head whipped (A/N: I WHIP MY HAIR-- sorry..) towards the direction of the familiar voice. He adds, "and cute cat by the way."
She grins, beholding the sight of Captain America with a nice haircut and is holding a fluffy kitten in one hand, and a small bouquet of summer flowers in the other. All she couldn't help but wonder but what's up with him and flowers. "yeah, I know. Nice haircut, Captain."
"Yeah," then the kitten hopped from his hold and on top of the table, where the files currently lay. "I think its time for a change. Especially after spending decades in a popsicle."
She shook her head, giggling at his remark. "Don't worry. The decades you get to spend are with me."
"Cute."
Amelia rolled her eyes, discarding the file and her phone with the picture where she was once staring at the first, digital photo he took. "Seriously though, nice haircut."
He held her hands in his, quickly sneaking a small kiss on her cheek. "Thank you." Then he brought out the flowers, "While these, are for you."
"Gosh, gentleman much?" She mocked.
"Someone told me people need a little bit of old fashioned." Her grin grew brighter as she sniffed the flowers. "And you won't believe what happened to me this morning..."
"Oh no..."
Blue stared at them as she laughed, they converse happily in her penthouse balcony. Either were too lost in the trance of their gazes to even notice on how wonderfully the day started out.
