30; HOPE
Everyone soon settled at their seats in a new yet smaller debriefing room. Directors Fury and Weaver, Dr. Kate, and the Avengers were the one of the only people exclusively allowed to hear the details of the contagion. Or contagions.
The rest of the scientific crew, both the helicarriers' and science and technology division, are working in the designated laboratories as they are already familiar with the information and are now working for the cure.
Natasha and Clint sat beside each other, Bruce and Tony sat together, Steve decided to sit alone but upon Dr.Kate's request, she sat next to him. Shifting a little it closer, he felt uncomfortable and resulted in shifting away. Fury and Weaver decided to stand up on the side of the small debriefing room, along with Thor leaning against a wall on the other side of the debriefing room.
Back at the real matter in the debriefing room, FitzSimmons stood in front of a screen of some sort, as the others sat around a table. The geniuses are planning on presenting the, well you know.
"Okay! Now that everyone's gathered, let us properly introduce ourselves, once again." Simmons starts the presentation, as Clint and Natasha were still unaware of the two geniuses. "I am Agent Jemma Simmons and this is Agent Leo Fitz. We accompany with Director Weaver's science and technology division crew today." Jemma continues intros, Agent Weaver nodding, as Fitz added, "just for your info, everyone, you may refer to us as FitzSimmons. Now, we shall begin the presentation. Get ready, everyone."
Natasha whispers to Clint beside her, "Fitz and Simmons. They're everywhere in S.H.I.E.L.D, aren't they?" He nods away from her daze, listening to the beginning presentation intently.
Jemma cleared her throat, as Fitz then displayed of what looks like to be an electrical, colored x-ray. What was peculiar about the x-ray were static electricity flashing here and there, everywhere. From the humerus bone, to the gluteus maximus muscle, aka the booty, to the lungs.
Without any further a do, they began explaining. "Everybody, this, is Amelia Vale's whole x-radiation vision of her body. Its live, so what ever's happening now, is happening to Amelia Vale. Due to S.H.I.E.L.D's advanced tech, the vision is filtered to color, giving everyone a clearer sight to examine. Jemma..." Fitz began, lastly indicating his fellow genius to begin.
Tony raised his hand, interrupting Jemma's introduction. "Yes, Mr. Stark?" Her insides jumped because she felt a teacher model to all of them in Tony's first gesture.
"Erm, Ms. Simmons, doesn't Amelia have a gun shot wound?"
This perked Steve up, making him realize its actually not there. They probably healed or removed it, somehow. He thought to himself, but boy was he wrong...
She simply answered, "oh, because Fitz programmed the vision to be colored and give it a replicating visual of her body without the wound." Steve frowns, as she adds. "To break it to everyone, this is just part one."
"What do you mean 'part one'?" Steve asks from his seat, saddening him.
"Unfortunately, but we can't explain all these things at once, Captain... I apologize." Fitz replies for Jemma dolefully. Steve shook his head, "no, its- its fine. Just begin, guys. Sorry for interrupting."
She nodded as she pointed to those static electricity roaming through her body, striking at least one body part from the smallest of nerves to a muscle. "Now, the first things you'll notice are these static electricity striking from the smallest of nerves to at least one bone structure in her body." Jemma finally begins. "They are electrostatic energy. And they're the extraterrestrial type that we aren't that familiar with it but thanks to Amelia, we know enough." Then she nodded towards Dr. Banner daze, giving him his time to also explain. The pair of geniuses can't just deserve all this credit.
Bruce stood from his seat and walked to the front of the room.
"You see, Amelia's own form of tourniquet was too weak, which was the piece of clothing torn from her shirt. Because of this, she was able to require the electrostatic energy as soon as she stepped into battle." He explains, as Clint politely raised his hand. "Clint?"
"From whom?"
"From energy radiation of those Chitauri energy weapons, we presume." He answers as Natasha buries her head on Clint's shoulder, Fury shutting his eye/s in fear. Banner proceeds, "we further examined the energy radiation, from conducting a sample from Amelia's own body, and we classify this one as very reachable and strong, especially for an open wound. She became immediately infected thanks to the radiation as soon as her exposure to battle began."
Jemma continues for him, "ladies and gentlemen, the electrostatic energy has their tendencies. Which include numbing her body and some senses, some sort of a similar stroke, and electricity striking to very vital organs to any type of bone structure. Even to the smallest of nerves."
"And that concludes the summary of the electrostatic energy. Here's the bad news... Well, not like anything we've explained so far were bad news..." And that made Banner receive groans and grumbles from Fury and the other Avengers. He sighs, "if you are unaware, the most vital organs of the human body that are essential for survival are--"
Tony pondered, then something came up to his mind. "Wait, Bruce, sorry but how was she able to endure all of, this?"
Easy. "Tony, due to her elemental abilities, she is capable of having a more, erm, advanced human anatomy. Similar to the super soldier serum and, well, my gama radiation, she can withstand the warmest and coldest of temperatures, have sturdier cells, increased immunity to almost any and lots of types of diseases, intensified metabolism, and more. Although, she doesn't really have things like Steve's super strength and obtaining a protective system of regeneration and healing or mine, like where I physically transform into this green humanoid with superhuman strength and invulnerability, triggered under emotional stress or other special circumstances." He took a large inhale after his explanation. Everyone gave him a look of embarrassment, making Bruce adjust his glasses awkwardly. "Sorry," then he turned to FitzSimmons, "could you just explain the rest for me, please?"
Simmons gave him a stiff nod and awkward smirk, taking a step towards to explain the rest. "Anyways... Erm..."
Fitz whispered at her direction, "vital organs."
"Ah yes, if you are unaware, some vital organs are the brain, skin, heart, lungs, liver, kidneys and the stomach are essential to a human, no matter what." They all nodded in agreement. "Well, if the electric static strike any of the organs, specifically the heart and the brain, eight times, I repeat, eight times, then it can lead her to her death in a fraction of a second."
"Oh my god..." Steve mutters, making Simmons give him an concern look. "Do you want me to continue further more, Captain?" She asks him slowly, as he slowly nods his head.
"All righty then, well, if the electrostatic energy strike either the heart or the brain for the eight time, then it can result to the nervous system shutting down in again, a fraction of a second, and myrocardial infarction, straining blood flow and destruction of heart muscle."
Everyone became silent, drowning their sorrow in it.
Until Steve raises his hand.
"Yes, Captain Rogers?"
He sighs, "how come is she enduring it for eight times? And what is the duration of those 'eight chances'?"
"She's enduring it due to her abilities. The pyrokinetics and cyrokinetics combined are like a barrier for her organs so will you see the electric static striking any of those specific organs rarely. And to answer for the second question, Dr. Banner, Dr. Kate, Fitz, and I predict about a week or so. And so be ready, we already placed her in life support for precautions."
"Thank you." He thanked her, making Jemma a little pink. Fitz then decided to proceed explaining on how to heal her of the electrostatic energy.
"Finally, for the healing erm, process, we need everybody's help in this." Fitz began, reeling everybody's eyes and ears in. Walking to the center table, the table turns out to be digital. With his hands, he lifted a model of a cylindrical device, and its three dimensional, it fascinated Steve and Thor.
Everyone leaned in to the table to get a better view. Immediately in Tony's mind, he started assessing and adding some additions to the unknown device. Fitz finally began explaining with Simmons at his side. "To bring all of your attention here, this everyone, is a draft I have started constructing earlier with my computer aided design program."
Fitz is a well-known genius engineer in the whole organization. "This certain device is the key to eliminating and conducting the Chitauri electrostatic energy directly out of Amelia Vale's body. I call it the Electrostatic Anthropoid Elimination Conductor. Or EAEC." He proclaimed every word proudly, Simmons playfully rolling her eyes behind him.
Everyone nodded their heads at the awfully complex name, as Fitz, with a swipe of his hands gesture, separated all of the parts of the E.A.E.C. (Pronounce is as 'ache') Tony was in awe, and his interests immediately sparked up. "Unfortunately, I am still constructing the device itself, so I need everyone's help. Even the directors."
They all listened intently as they leaned against the table. Fitz cleared his throat, "to begin, the purpose of the device is obviously to heal Amelia Vale herself from the electric charges by the end of the week duration, for approximately five days. But, to be specific of the purpose we're aiming for, the EAEC's ability is to mainly conduct the electrostatic energy inside of Amelia Vale directly out of her body by using the source to battle itself."
Natasha, Clint, Steve, Thor, and Nick looked a little perplexed, but Fitz notices, "erm, I mean, we need more of the Chitauri radiation so the metal rods in the EAEC could get it out of her, like a magnet. Along with some other special elements to accompany the energy."
That gotten him to receive realization 'ohs' from everyone, with the exception of Banner, Kate, and Simmons. Thor inserts a comment, "so, we need to retrieve a Chitauri weapon abandoned back at the new City of York in order to obtain more of the electrostatic energy?"
Fitz looked confused on how he named New York City, but a second later he got the message. "Oh, yeah. Technically." And that gotten him to receive realizations 'ohs' again. He proceeds to what he was going to say, "according to Thor, yes, we need a Chitauri, energy sustained weapon. Although, we are looking for a specific kind of the electrostatic energy."
"What are you aiming for, Agent Fitz?" Weaver asks him, as he clears his throat.
"We believe the energy from the weapon must have a specific amount of joules, watts, kinetic trajectory, its own alien usage purpose similar to the weapon used to fire those electrostatic energy that's been roaming around Vale's body and more. We need a team to find at least three of the specific characteristics in the weapon we are looking for around New York city."
Fury budged in, "the city's community and governing services are already cleaning the city up about an hour ago. Do you want them to exit the premises of the city so a small team could search for one?"
"Yes, Director Fury. That would be tremendously helpful." Simmons thanked him for Fitz, as he continues, "I agree. But to erm, complete it, we have devices that can assist the small team to search for the specific weapon we need."
Steve immediately rose up from his seat. "I voluntarily want to lead the small team through New York to find those three weapons, FitzSimmons." Dr. Kate, who is sitting beside him, beamed at him. Her insides swooning. He ignored her, not rudely. Tony then began loosing his patience, as they haven't really mentioned him yet.
Fitz's face lit up the whole room, "oh gosh, that's great!" He is freaking out inside, along with Jemma. Jemma grinned widely, "that's really great, Captain!" Then when her grin faded away, she paused, "erm, who will be in your small team, erm, may I ask?"
"We volunteer as tributes!" Clint exclaims as he and Natasha stood up in unison, straightening their poise and raising their chin up high. "We'll accompany Cap on the search."
Thor walked over to them, poised proudly as well, "I will attend to the small, substantial search for the weapons."
FitzSimmons' grin grew wider than the Cheshire Cat's. "Infinity multiplied by awesome, that's amazing! Off course!" Jemma praised as Fitz couldn't calm down... "Jemma... I'm hyperventilating..." He excitedly whispers to her, as she playfully slaps him on the arm. "Ow! What was that for?"
"Fitz!" Jemma alerts him as they all give them weird looks. She notices, chuckling nervously then swallowing her throat hard, "eh, erm, ah yes! Gentlemen, and lady, we will discuss about the search strategy later on..."
It confused Steve, "what do you mean, Agent Simmons?"
She gulps, "we're not quite finished with the debriefing..."
Fury then urges her, "then resume back to what you scientists were explaining. Time can be wasted."
"Oh, off course, Director Fury!" Fitz says as Steve frowns and Natasha, Clint and Thor went back to their seats. Clearing his throat, Fitz then minimized the three-dimensional scale model of the EAEC. He then faces Tony, finally, "Mr. Stark?"
"Yeah, Fitz?" He asks tiredly as he rubs his eyes.
Fitz gulps as Bruce and Dr. Kate start prepping the next presentation with their tablets. "May you assist me on constructing the Electrostatic Anthropoid Eliminator Conductor device? We need more help from the geniuses."
Tony smiled brightly as Fitz's request, "'course, Fitz. I'll help as much as I can! I already have some minor additions drilled into my head of engineering ideas." Steve rolled his eyes, but Tony just ignored it.
Fitz beamed, "sweet! Uh, I mean, that's great!" Jemma's insides were hopping up and down excitedly.
Then Fury cleared his throat, loud enough for everyone to notice. "FitzSimmons, part two?"
And boy did that kill everyone's hope for the cure. Resuming everyone back to their frowning.
"Par-part two?" Steve stutters, FitzSimmons slowly nodding their heads sadly. "Oh."
Fitz sighs as he returned back to the main screen in the room, using his own tablet this time to reveal, a bullet. Particularly Amelia's bullet.
Dr. Kate rests a hand on Steve's shoulder, giving him a concerned look. Steve didn't bother to look back at her, so she stood up and walked to the front of the room, accompanied by Dr. Banner. They gave each other grave nods as Simmons began explaining once more.
"Everyone, if you would direct your attention here, we have finally came to the point to conclude part one then commence the second part of Amelia's condition." Fury shut his eyes once again, expecting the least worst. Banner kept his head down, because in his opinion, this would be one of the worst conditions yet.
Steve grumbled as Jemma continues, "everyone, may I introduce to you the--"
".45 GAP bullet from a Glock .45 ACP pistol," Clint finishes for her whilst he rubs his weary eyes. "The exact bullet embedded into Amelia's lower abdomen," he adds quietly, making Simmons morosely nod her head. "You are correct, Agent Barton."
With some hesitation, Fitz tapped along his tablet, making the bullet melt digitally. It perplexed everyone else. "What--" Tony starts asking as Simmons couldn't really bear to be interrupted anymore.
"The bullet in Amelia Vale's lower abdomen? Well, to quickly summarize, it melted, releasing melted brass and cooper castings throughout her system. From the bloodstream through, everywhere..."
"Oh my God..." Steve says as Dr. Kate finally steps in.
"Everyone, somehow during the battle, her body felt like it overheated. And to answer that explanation would be indicating to her pyrokinetic abilities." She explains quickly as Simmons nodded along with her. "And since her body is transitioning from warm to cool, the bullet castings inside her system are either solidifying, then liquidizing. Back and forth, it won't stop."
"But how come isn't she... Dead?" Steve suddenly asks out, very reluctantly. He couldn't bear the sight of her being... Dead.
"She's constantly freezing the wound, preventing blood loss, and then overheats, melting the brass and cooper into her system. Its confusing, but that's how I could explain it. Agent Simmons, Dr. Banner, and I have undertaken on concocting a serum to solidify the melted bits permanently as a whole so it could appear somewhere in her protoplasm and we would just remove it surgically from there."
"She's correct, and since a week or so can Amelia endure the electrostatic energy, adding the bullet melting to the mixture deducts two days from the week. So, only five days will we ever try to completely find a cure for everything once and for all." Simmons finishes for her.
Thor adds, "so, there are two mountains we have to climb."
"Technically..." Tony mutters, and they heard it loud and clear.
Fury finally steps in, "how will the team be any assistance to this this time?"
They were silent for a moment, but not just because they have no idea, but the answer really is that there is nothing. "Director, sadly, Dr. Kate, Dr. Banner, the science crew, and I are probably the only ones familiar with the properties of finding the solution to this difficult algorithm. For this opportunity, try persevering her and avoid stress. That is all."
Steve sighs, "we just push her to fight?"
"Yes. Just hope that all of you have faith."
Clint scoffs, "oh, we do."

~10 minutes after debrief, 20 minutes after the small team's debrief~
Simmons looked back at the Captain, the master assassin, the master marksmen, and the demigod with pride and hope for them to be safe during the search of the weapons required for Amelia.
The four had their gear and devices essential for the search with them, everyone debriefed on how they are operated and used. Steve and Thor were the hard ones to be capable to comprehend, but Clint and Natasha are more than gladly to help them.
Fury and Weaver contacted the community and government service to leave the destroyed city, so the search would be easier for the four remaining Avengers. As well as managed and kept the World Security Council calm enough until Amelia's fine and ready. Don't forget about the whole helicarrier system.
Tony is working alongside Fitz in another laboratory, constructing the Electrostatic Anthropoid Elimination Conductor device.
Dr. Banner and Dr. Kate have already begun with concocting the serum.
And don't forget about the science crew helping with the rest.
Simmons stood at the end of the entrance ramp of the quinjet, where Thor, Steve, Natasha, and Clint have already boarded. Giving them a warm smile with the tablet in her hand, she reminded one last time, "be safe, all right? And, never ever loose your hope."
Clint and Natasha returned the smile as they headed to their designated cockpit, ready to pilot the quinjet. Steve stood there in front of Simmons, Thor already in his seat.
Captain America returned her warm smile. "Ma'am, I have faith that we won't loose hope."
And then, the ramp finally closed, as the quinjet took off. Jemma Simmons waved good-bye, turning back around to the direction of her designated laboratory to finish this once and for all.
