25; FINALLY? FINALLY.

(A/N:  Yes, thy title is based on the wonderful novel and movie, The Fault in out Stars, everybody.  I love John Green so much, and I am so grateful of him creating such wondeful stories that changes everybody and can leave you starstruck.  I will use some of the book's lines and narration and replace some of it with mine, so keep in mind that I don't own that wondrous idea.  Why?  John Green, guys.

Bold- meant that I used narration and lines from the book.)

42nd past Madison, eh?  Amelia thought herself after freezing the wound one last time, and wiping dirt and dust from the bridge of her nose and forehead. After that she just vanished anyway.

What she didn't know though was that Clint also informed Steve of the matter earlier before her. And boy was Steve ever glad to 'help'.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dozens of trapped civilians are gathered in a band, tension and uncertainty couldn't help but vapor in the air, surrounding them.  Four alien soldiers are overseeing them in the second level, all their weapons ready to fire if anyone tries to escape their wrath.  And one of them charges a bomb, prepping for the mass murder of hostages in a bank under an alien invasion.
Amelia silently and sneakily reappears behind them, shooting an icicle at the extraterrestrial bomber, as she hides onto a desk.  Freezing the floor to slip any incoming aliens, Captain America suddenly appears from entering a window, throwing his shield at the incoming one behind her.  "Steve!"  She exclaims in a whisper, surprised at his sudden entrance.  A little enraged for his interference as this is her assigned task.
"Hold.  On," he alerts as they start firing.  She then moves out of the way as he heads cover for the desk, Amelia getting out of his way.  He kicks the desk to stop them from firing, as Amelia watches from the side.  Wait, I've gotta do something!! She thought to herself.  Steve fought the others, back handing one over the railing, "everyone, clear out!"  He then got stuck in a headlock.
Frantically looking for the bomb, Amelia was too late as the other Chitauri soldier aimed its weapon at her, but she avoids it by twisting its arm to fire its energy rifle at the alien Steve was able to escape a headlock to, but it ended up ripping his helmet.  The alien Amelia is holding fired its weapon at its fellow alien in a split second, the bomb beeping faster and faster, ready for detonation.  "Amelia!"
Amelia didn't even bother to shoot the alien with an icicle as she ran to Steve who rolled over to grab his shield, then clenching onto Amelia's waist.  As she clung to his chest as he hopped, the shield all ready to covering both, the alien threw the bomb at them, flinging them out of the tall bank.  An explosion sent off the pair and out of the window, crash landing them above the roof of a car. Resulting shattered glass and broken car scraps everywhere.
But what happened in the process was that Steve broke the fall by letting her land on top of him, back first.  For her.
~Amelia's POV~
Steve's large arm wrapped around my waist made me still cling to his chest when we landed on a roof of a car, our weight, mostly his, demolishing it.
My eyes were still shut, until I realized my fall was dampened by a super soldier.  Steve was groaning from the pain from the impact, hard landing, and my weight, I couldn't help myself but feel really, really awful.
"Steven!!"  I cry his name out as I hop out of the car, and him, immediately hovering over his face, "Steve, no, no, no, no, no..."  I cup his face, wiping off blood from his wounded temple.  "I am so, so, so, sorry, oh my gosh.  Steve, please be okay..."
His shield is hatched onto his other hand, his eyes blinking and blinking, giving me a small smile on his lips, "I'm okay..."
I sigh in relief as I close my eyes for a brief moment while I caressed his cheek.  Opening my eyes once again, mine meeting his ocean blue ones, "you better be.  What were you thinking?  You ordered me yourself to save and evacuate the civilians!  That was definitely unnecessary and uncalled for!  How about this... Please, just please like just do or say something to at least tell me your really okay.  I don't know.  Just one--"
Until my assuring rambling is interrupted when he cups my cheek, quickly closing in the inches between our faces with a kiss.  On the lips.  Really.
And that's a really good, gentle, and sweet kiss.  Like, whoa.
I close my eyes slowly as I bring his face closer to mine.  Deepening the passion.
We were actually kissing.  As his parted lips met mine, I started to feel breathless in a new and fascinating way.  The space around us evaporated, and for a wierd moment, I really didn't put much thought for the demolished and chaotic surroundings, with complete strangers probably watching.  I just don't give a crap.
Letting each other go, taking deep breaths because of damn oxygen, we gazed at each other, speechless.  "Whoa," I mumble, suddenly he frowns, his eyes darting downward.  "Oh, I understand that you didn't want nor expect that..."  But I just smiled ever so radiantly, kissing him again.
That better shut him up.
Ending the kiss, he's redder than ever before.  "or not?"
"Finally..." I say as I let him pick himself up from the smashed car.  Standing, his height towering over me, he says, "finally?"
"I've always wanted to do that, but yes, finally."
He flashed that irresistible smile of his, "well, looks like I beat you to it." Steve pecks my forehead ever so softly with his plump lips, making me even redder than what he already is. Bold move, my friend.
What was funny was that everyone just watched as a small smile forms in my lips, my inside jumping up and down because of the moment that I couldn't resist but just be happy and forget about the recent tragedies. I realized that my hood never even pulled down my head too, during the fighting. I ignored the throbbing and numbness of the pain on my lower abdomen. I ignored all the people watching at the hooded girl and Captain America, just gazing.
I realized we were stalling, giving more time for the aliens to destroy Manhattan.
"Wait, wait, wait, hold on. We have to keep fighting..."  I remind him, my eyebrows furrowed together due to the realization.
We just can't stand around and let the alien armies keep coming and destroying.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~Third Person POV~

"Director Fury, the Council has made a decision," one of the male Security Council members declared to Director Fury, who is listening intently on his viewscreens. Everyone is shifting, moving, and watching of all the movements of the team during the battle, from the agents to the janitors here at the helicarrier.

"I recognize the council has made a decision, but given that its a stupid ass decision, I've elected to ignore it." Fury firmly responds at their decision, enraged.

But they kept reasoning, "Director, you're closer than any of oursubs, you scramble that jet--"

"This is the island of Manhattan, Councilman. Until I am certain my team can't hold it, I will not order a nuclear strike against a civilian population!"

"If we don't hold them in the air, we lose everything," another of the Councilmen adds, making Nick much more indignant. His belief on the team he formed is still and always strong.

"I send that bird out. We already have." Fury was done, as he shuts off the viewscreens, not wanting to listen to another word they're about to say.
