22; EVERYBODY TALKS
(A/N: There will be a few point of views once again. Ready yourselves for this really long author's note guys.
Okay, at the beginning of the next chapter, I hope I have taken extensive research surrounding that topic. If some information may be inaccurate, then I apologize to all the doctors or medical people in training reading that part. Because, well, I am not a doctor nor am I practicing any of, this for one, and second, Amelia specializes on it *cough cough, crime laboratory analyst* so I am technically forced to look almost everything up. Amelia is sort of a doctor, blah blah blah. Don't skip immediately to that part guys. You'll eventually find out about it.
Just for your guys' information, the research includes numerous websites, basically Wikipedia and yahoo! answers to questions surrounding the topic, and lots of TV shows circumferential to the crime genre. Name it. Criminal Minds, Grey's Anatomy, Bones, Hawaii Five-O, NCIS, and even when the spotlight is on Fitz-Simmons on AOS. I love those two and they are awesome.
I guess its alright to correct me with these information, but nonetheless, that is the power of fan fiction. Its fiction and fan-made *me* , soooo... yeah. I guess correcting me won't be necessary because as writer I can practically break or create flaws according to the laws of physics or I don't even know but correct me if you want to. Because I am honestly interested of learning more of all of, this.
Why not? I am informing you guys about this right now because I don't want a long author's note taking over the space in the next one, with the information corresponding to the next chapter.
There won't be a long author's note at the end. But there is one in the beginning, which is quite obvious.
And I have extended the cast, so you may check them out again!
Thanks. Okay, let's get it on with the chapter.)
~Steve's POV~
"Talk, Captain," Natasha demands an explanation as I grip on to a bar for balance while Clint and Natasha are piloting the quinjet. Stark just passes us in his Iron Man suit straight forward to the tower in Manhattan. We trail way slower behind him as we leave the helicarrier.
Anyways, I order, "to Manhattan you guys."
Natasha grunts, "no, the plan, Steve. Like how about the others? And shouldn't Amelia be riding with us or will she just teleport? Wait, why didn't we see her? Where is sh--"
"The others, Thor and Banner, will come. As we immediately land, help gather and evacuate the civilians just in case the portal is unleashed. If the Chitauri army starts entering Earth in waves, fight them off," I explain, Clint scoffing. Interrupting, "The Chita- what now?" Natasha and Clint stationed at the cockpit, flying as fast as the jet can bring us to our destination.
"Chitauri, Loki's army," I briefly add, "fight and evacuate the citizens is what we will do for a while. After that, await my further instructions depending on the current situation after."
He interrupts me again, "and sorry to interrupt, but Amelia?"
Natasha sighs as a pause occurs. "Amelia Vale, brunette, hazel-eyed, cyrokinetic and pyrokinetic user..." I start describing.
"I know her, cap." Clint declares while focused on the piloting. He sounded affirmative, which made me curious, "what?"
"Amelia Vale, in 2004, she has helped operated and tested this classified device for S.H.I.E.L.D, not a weapon really. I helped her train for the situation, Captain, almost serving as a evaluator and supervising officer combined. That's how I knew her," he explains, adding more. "And her parents are a famous bunch too." Interesting... I forgot I haven't really read her profile...
"Her mother was my S.O for a while when I first joined. I didn't need it but she was just there for my evaluation," Natasha adds. I nod, "what else?"
Clint just chuckles, "how about the fact she can shoot fireballs like flamethrowers and freeze things?"
"Add teleportation," I suggest. Which made him chuckle again, "Weird combination of abilities with all honesty. But Chis Vale and Elizabeth Echard, great people. Haven't met neither of them though, unlike Nat over here," he clarifies, which made Natasha nod.
"But why do you guys mention her?" Clint asks, returning to the original topic.
"She joined Avengers Initiative the last minute. Sorry that I didn't explain back there," Natasha answers, apologizing of not inferring of her earlier while he was in temporary custody because of his, you know.
"She's good, especially with the, that," I comment. I then notice at a glance Natasha sneaked a smirk. Not now.
"But anyways..." Natasha cuts off the disturbing, followed silence, "where is she?"
I look down at my shield, shutting my eyes off, sorry that I have to tell them, Amelia. "She, she left." I look up.
Natasha immediately whipped her head to turn around from piloting the jet, to me. She had a surprised look from her widened eyes, "she what?!"
"Nat! Eyes on the road," Clint reminds her. Turning to face him, as he made her a little furious, "there isn't a road there, isn't there, Barton?!" Then she turned back to me, "Steve, what do you mean 'she left?" Clint looked a little bit frozen and stunned at her tone.
"She's coming back, don't worry!" I assure her, but it didn't change a thing for her. Turning back to piloting, she demands, "I want a reason, Rogers!"
"I thought you guys read her file!" Clint comments, which made her snap, "shut it! Why would she leave?"
"She left for her step-grandparents," I reply, but she didn't quite fall for it for a second. "And you're telling me you read her file but didn't catch about her billionaire stepfather?"
"Lemme guess," Clint perks in, "Jeremy Cervetti? Why? What else happened while I was gone?" Huh, he probably knew her that well.
"I forgot, Elizabeth and Jeremy's plane crash..." Natasha mutters, but we heard it loud and clear. Clint then narrows his eyes, "huh? More that I miss?"
Clearing my throat, I continued explaining, "the plane crash, she told me, is what made Nick elect the last minute decision. Five days ago, the plane crashed and killed Elizabeth and Jeremy Cervetti. Look, her step-grandparents demanded for a meeting with her so she met up with them." Then I mutter, "she promised me she's coming back."
Natasha leaned back to her pilot seat, while Clint kept a straight, but stunned, face. "Oh." She sighs, "oh, too."
"But how is she coming back? Like--" Clint starts asking, but he realized the answer straightaway, "Oh, wait. Teleportation, got it."
Another awkward silence passes us, but Natasha decided to break it off a few seconds later, "where, where is she currently located?"
"Siesta Keys, Florida," I answer, still gripping on the bar handle for balance from the fast quinjet. Which reminds me I still have to remind her about this when we land...
~Tony's POV~
Flying my way pass the slow quinjet, I quickly flew to Manhattan. And my precious tower. Which I suspect is being overrun by that damn god. And probably his minions.
And I really need a new suit because this one is loosing all its freakin' power in the boot-mounted repulsor jet packs and my hand-mounted stabilization and maneuvering jet packs during this quick and brief flight, my ability to fly fading away. Like I almost plummeted down to my death at freaking 14,000 feet! Again, that damn god.
Stark Tower is nearing in the distance as I remain soaring through the city in broad daylight, with some small casualties that I can thankfully endure this time. But what I spot first beyond the tower is the roof and obviously my name, but some sort of device that I think I can describe. What caught my eye although was the person setting up and operating it.
Dr. Selvig scurried from place to place as he sets up the CMS device as it looks like. But with a closer look, the Tesseract, that damn cube, is within the device. I flew up close, furious that we or I should've arrived here earlier to retrieve that damn cube. Letting J.A.R.V.I.S scan the CMS device, he states, "Sir, I took off the arc reactor. The device is already self-sustained." Wonder how Erik Selvig would do this... But thanks, buddy.
I hover myself above Dr. Selvig and the device. "Shut it down, Dr. Selvig," I command calmly, but obviously he won't budge.
"Its too late!" I don't think so, I hope. "It can't stop now! He wants to show us something! A new universe." He meant every word with the unworthy and false fascination, that I really don't care about.
I sigh, "okay." Aiming my hand repulsors at Dr. Selivig's CMS device, I fire energy from the boosters at it. Unfortunately, the device didn't recieve any damage, remaining unharmed. I stare at it with disbelief with the exception of throwing Dr. Selvig off, knocking him out. He better be back later when he wakes up.
It perked J.A.R.V.I.S up thankfully, giving one last scan at the CMS device. "The barrier is pure enery. Its unbreachable." Wow, great! Swooping down to land at the gauntlet where I usually unsuit the, well, the suit, he added, "sir, the Mark VII is not ready to be deployed." Seriously?
"Then skip the spinning rims, we're on the clock." I order, as I spot Loki looking up from the balcony, turning away to head inside the tower. Son of a bitch. I land on the gauntlet, walking down the steps as all this machinery take off the Iron Man suit, heading inside the tower's penthouse.
Entering the Stark Penthouse, Loki enters at the same moment as I am with that infamous scepter in his hand, while I just walk in casually. I start making my way to the bar, coming down the steps.
"Please tell me you're going to appeal to my humanity," Loki mockingly comments as I keep making my way down... the steps.
"Uh... Actually," I stop below the steps, "I'm planning to threaten you." He doesn't seem held back...
"You should have left your armor on for that," well, the threat isn't physical. Its personal, bud.
"Yeah, its seen a bit of mileage," I sarcastically reason, still making my way towards the bar for that scotch and the surprise. "You've got the blue stick of destiny. Would you like a drink?" I casually offer, but he still doesn't seem taken back.
"Stalling me won't change anything," he took a few steps forward and towards me.
"No, no, no! Threatening," I brought out the bottle of scotch, "no drink? You sure?" Bringing the scotch to the glasses and the special surprise, I add, "well I'm having one."
Loki walks away, facing outside the large windows in my penthouse. "The Chitauri are coming, nothing will change that." Then he turns back to my direction, with the bottle of scotch in my hands, "what have I to fear?"
Pouring the drink into the glass, I reply, "the Avengers." Yes with the capital A. He looked confused, yet amused, and that rhymed. "Its what we call ourselves, sort of like a team," I add, "'Earth's Mightiest Heroes,' type of thing."
"Oh yes," he took a step forward, smirking, "I've met them."
I scoffed, smiling, "yeah, takes us a while to get any traction, I'll give you that one. But let's do a head count here. Your brother, the Demi-god," I look down at my Colantotte Bracelets, my specially designed honing devices, start slipping and attaching them on. Loki looks away and wanders a bit from the mention of his brother, obviously, as I continue, "a super soldier, a living legend who kinda lives up to the legend; a man with breathtaking management issues; a hot chick that can technically freeze and burn anything in her sight; a couple of master assassins, and you, big fella, managed to piss off every single one of them."
"That was the plan."
After gulping a sip, "not a great plan." I then start walking away from the bar with the glass of scotch in my hand, towards Loki. "When they come, and they will, they'll come for you."
"I have an army."
"We have the Hulk," I snap back, but he still doesn't seem taken back.
"I thought the beast have wondered off," he counters, still having that annoying smug smirk plastered on his Asgardian face.
"You're missing the point. There's no throne, there is no version of this, where you come out on top. Maybe your army comes and maybe it's too much for us, but it's all on you. Because if we can't protect the Earth, you can be damned well sure we'll avenge it." And I mean every word as I reward myself with another sip of my scotch because of a not-bad speech. Great job, Anthony.
He look a little enrage on the outside, but in the inside, its like Mt. whatever-volcanoe's-name exploded, because he's trying to push away the doubt of controling and 'ruling' Earth. Loki suddenly took steps towards me, and slowly did he raise that scepter of his. "How will your friends have time for me, when they're so busy fighting you?"
Then he tapped the point of his scepter at my arc reactor... but nothing happened. I glanced at him, confusion now plastered all over his face. He made another attempt of making me his slave but, still, nothing happened. Okay, thank god... "This usually works..."
BWAHAHAHAH! "Oh, performance issues," I nonchalantly comment, making that volcanoe inside of him probably explode way more lava out of its crater. "Not uncommon. One out of five--"
As I start jokingly explain, I definitely wasn't wrong about the Loki volcanoe inside of him. Out of anger, he grabbed my throat ever so tightly, I felt, well, trapped. Cap was right; he really can pack a wallop... How? Well, he flings me all the way across the room in my penthouse.
Picking myself up, I mumble as I catch my breath, "J.A.R.V.I.S... Anytime now..."
He then walks up to me, grabbing me by the throat. Again. Picking me close to him, he mancingly hisses in my ear, "you will all fall before me." Not a chance.
Tossing me out of the window like a piece of crumbled paper, I start plummeting down the tower, passing every window and floor, every second. But I try remaining calm as I fall into the position I need to be so I can latch on the suit.
You see, ladies and gentlemen, the colantotte bracelets are magnets activated by laser signals that immediately attaches me to my suit. The laser signals come from a pod, which I presume is falling down right behind me, and hopefully knocked Loki out or at least harm him in anyway while in the process trying to access to me, it contains my suit.
Setting in position, the following that I have stated happens according to plan. The laser signals were emited from the pod, attracting the bracelets. My Mark VII suit starts disassembling from its current pod-enclosed-form as it made contact with the bracelets, and onto reassembling throughout my whole body. Resulting the Iron Man. Kudos to J.A.R.V.I.S.
Immediately concluding the set-up, I directly fly upwards to the penthouse once again, avoiding the harm of innocent people gazing on what's above themselves. And before the moment I almost crash land.
Flying up high, I hover myself as I stop infront of the stunned Loki, who is finally stunned or anything similar to the term in any way. "And there's another person you have pissed off! His name is Phil."
Before he shot one of those energy beams from his scepter, I made my move first as I shot energy from my repulsor in my hand. Payback's a bitch as it sent his ass flying all the way across the penthouse.
As he was regaining hiself back up, I heard the CMS device roaring with all its power coming from the Tesseract, a beam shooting up at the sky like a firework. I look up straightaway to the Tesseract's energy emitting into the sky, forming a vortex, ultimately creating a huge, and another, portal. Revealing an alien army as he states, which is well, unexpectedly unexpected.
The Chitauri army spills from the portal like ants from an ant hill, flying in their extraterrestrial chariots, as I would describe it. Obviously, they carry, well, extraterrestrial weapons, ready for the war that had just begun.
"Right," battle mode, "army."
~Steve's POV (A/N: Okay, his perspective is prior while Tony was finishing his conversation with Loki. Practically while Tony was falling down the tower and blah, blah, blah...)~
Manhattan. Wait... Are we there yet?
"We're here..." Clint announces, replying to my untold thoughts. "Good," I comment as I head over to the cockpit where the master assassins get the view of the city. But what caught our eyes is the the vortex being formed slowly from a beam shot from Stark Tower in the distance. Eventually a portal is reveal in broad daylight, against the vast blue sky. Oh my Lord...
"Well, that isn't," Clint then adds, but I couldn't agree more. We watch in horrified awe at the spewed, blue portal, spilling out the alien army, as Loki guaranteed. "Get a hold of Stark. NOW." I order one of the pilots, aka the master assassins, and Natasha followed.
"Stark, we're heading north east," Natasha announces via online, and I can tell Tony already began making his first moves on eliminating the incoming aliens. Or they aren't really incoming considering that they have already entered so...
"What, did you do stop for a drive thru?! Swing up park, I'm gonna lay 'em out for you," Stark claims as he is being followed by a bunch of the Chitauri. Lots of them trailing behind him, he led them in front of the quinjet. "Go," I command as Natasha releases a machine gun operated by the jet. She starts firing, eliminating the large amount of aliens trailing Tony in the process.
I spot Clint glance at his left window, finding a target. And that target is Loki, who is currently dueling with Thor. Thankfully he came back. "Yeah," Clint mutters to himself, but Natasha heard it. "See them," she knew it meant to terminate Loki once and for all as Thor is stalling him.
Hawkeye, yes Hawkeye, banks the quinjet towards Stark Tower, where the Asgardian brothers are. I look over to see Clint pulling out a mini-gun and then aimed it at Loki. But it was too late to fire as Loki fires his own energy blast from the scepter right before us, failing at our attempt to eliminate him. Thankfully, Thor regains himself up then he tackles his brother to a pulp. Since we were hit, one of the jet's wings is caught on fire after the energy blast. Which isn't good...
Clint expeditiously notices, then tries to maneuver the other wing of the jet, trying to land us as safely as possible. But it resulted us spinning uncontrollably and slowly as we pass and crash into the remaining skyscrapers. Eventually, we crash landed on a street, me having faith we won't crash or harm any innocent civilians who hasn't fled from the Chitauri. Damn you, Loki...
"Come on!" Natasha declares as she and Clint unfasten their safety belts and headsets that helped them pilot the quinjet. Opening the ramp, I ran down with the assassins following into the daylight. Revealing the damaged Manhattan. But this is only the beginning.
Suddenly, I had the feeling of the whole city lurching into a stop. As a deep, primal rage bellows out from inside the portal. With a roar, a shadow oversees the whole city's street. But here's what I didn't expect...
From the portal, a massive Chitauri, extraterrestrial, creature-thing enters Manhattan. What in America's name is that?! I don't know what it is, and I am not really willing to find out. The creature flew right above us, like a whale swimming over small fish. And from the looks of it, it carries and transports more of the Chitauri soldiers like it was a dangerous bus, stopping by.
The rest of the trio and I stare, stunned, with horrified awe at the creature. Oh my God... I watch as the soldiers unattached themselves off the ungodly creature, the Chitauri soldiers leaping off to the buildings, breaking inside and doing whatever Loki commanded them to do. Basically do anythings that means necessary to begin a war.
I reach over to my earpiece, "Stark! Are you seeing this?!"
"I'm seeing, still working on believing," and for once, I agree with him. "Where's Banner and Sparky? Have they shown up yet? Or have you told her about, well, this?" Dang it! I forgot about Amelia!
"Banner? And hold on, I'll be right to it..." I start walking away from the master assassins for a brief moment. Tony then responds back on my earpiece, "Just keep me posted on both." Alright.
Natasha notices me walking away for a moment, still stunned, "Captain! Where are you going?"
I turn around, "just gonna make a phone call."
~Amelia's POV (A/N: Okay, now HER perspective is while she was still conversing with her step-family, while Tony was fighting of Chitauri, and Captain America, Hawkeye, and Black Widow just landed and witnessed the sight of the Chitaurian Leviathan. Yes, that's what its called. Look up the script...)~
"I'm asking you again, Amelia," Stella sternly asks me dead in the eye, "FBI or S.H.I.E.L.D?" Is she serious right now? Honestly, I felt like this small reunion is going on for-eh-vah!
I sigh in exasperation, "Stella, I'm not crazy. I'm choosing both..."
Regina watches both of us with an uncomfortable look on her face, while Stella and I faced each other with determined looks on our faces. But each look has its own purpose of determination; Stella not allowing me to participate with two dangerous organizations in her opinion; me wanting to participate with the two organizations, dangerous and life-committing in my opinion. Which I have not problem alleging to at all.
"Mom, Amelia..." Regina start speaking but I sense a vibration on my phone, alerting me of a text message. Well, duh. And for the first time in a long time, I have a feeling in my gut that it didn't come from Abbey. Wonder who it could be...
I look down at my hoodie's pocket beside me on the couch, Regina and Stella's attention drawn to it as well. Stella gave me a wary look, while Regina nodded, allowing me to check it out. I gave her a warm smile, as I reach to my phone. And my gut really was right; its from the one and only Skye, as the name is labeled. Who somehow hacked my phone in order to do this... Oh well.
Entering my 1-9-2-0 pass code, I start reading. (A/N: The following message is brought to you by Skye of the Rising Tide.)
Skye: The TV. NOW. And thank me later ;)
Upon reading her small and brief message, a small smile curls at my lips because it almost slipped my mind. I have to check the TV. And I just found the remote!
Returning my phone immediately inside the pocket, I carry my hoodie as I leave the couch. Regina and Stella exchanged confused glances, because I didn't leave the living room just yet. "Where do you think you're going?" Stella asks out of curiosity of my sudden action.
Leaving no reply, I quickly head towards a small table that has the remote, quickly snatch it and stand in front of the TV. The news better be good.
Switching the TV on, Regina and Stella whipped their heads towards the direction of their large television. My eyes widen slightly at the news still drawn to the topic of the death of my mother and stepfather. With the headlines in bold:
Jeremy and Elizabeth Cervetti Reported Dead From Plane Crash
The anchorwoman is still discussing with her fellow anchorman, but it didn't interest Stella and Regina. Skye... Something's up... (A/N: the following dialogue is presented to you by the Cervetti's 70 inch TV!)
Anchorwoman: From our recent sources, Dave, it seems like the precious step-granddaughter of Stella and Declan Cervetti has reported to the mansion for a small reunion this morning. What do you think of--
But what interrupted their discussion is when something is communicated on both of the anchor's earpieces. Reaching on their earpieces and changing each other looks on national television with widened eyes and gaping mouths, the background and presentation footage and pictures suddenly transition to live footage of-- holy shit.
Fucking Iron Man and Manhattan and-- A PORTAL?! ALIENS!!
I gasped at the sight of aliens spilling out of the portal created from I assume, the Tesseract. With wide eyes and my mouth gaping and dropping the remote in the process as I watch live surveillance, it attracted the attention of Regina and Stella towards the television. The anchorwoman then started discussing the new topic; with headlines larger and bolder:
ALIENS FALLING FROM THE SKY: ALSO REPORTING SUPERHEROES?!
Anchorman: New Flash! Ladies and gentlemen, get ready to witness the phenomenal and horrific sight of aliens spilling from the sky, invading Manhattan, New York!
Anchorwoman: From sources, an alien invasion is taking its way and suspicious characters enter into the scene of the battle of these unknown creatures. Including, Tony Stark's IRON MAN! (Displays live footage of a quinjet with Captain America speaking over to his earpiece as Black Widow and Hawkeye ready their weapons.) (Then another live footage is shown of Iron Man zooming through the skies with the Chitauri chariots trailing behind him.) Reporting to you live are footage of...
The anchors kept exchanging thoughts and discussed about the frightening situation, which still kept the others in the living room very stunned. Damn you, Loki! But I started ignoring on what they're saying as soon as my phone vibrated again, alerting me that there's another message.
Skye: Millie, I've hacked the producer's laptop and system and sent him the message to check out all the surveillance at Manhattan and ect. That's the warning that I meant, I theorized it'll keep track of your superhero friends. Now, where's my thank you?
I look up back at the television, worried dead about my teammates. Lastly, I send one last message to Skye:
Amelia: Tysm Skye!!!
Now I gotta get out of here.
Making my way to the couch to retrieve my hoodie and putting away my phone, my earpiece suddenly made a static, notifying me of an incoming call. "Amelia? Are you there?"
Recognizing that voice as Steve's, it made my heart flutter to hear his voice once again, "Steve! I've seen the news! You guys are in the news!"
~Third Person's POV~
Stella suddenly whipped her head to Amelia's direction as soon as she heard her voice talking to someone. She was filled with shock and her urge of protecting her step-granddaughter increases. As of Regina watched the live, inaudible footage of Steve speaking on his invincible earpiece. Because as soon as Amelia talked to this unknown 'Steve', both of the female Cervettis propose she's communicating with the Spangled man on national television.
Hints? Well, he is speaking to an earpiece at the same time as Amelia...
"Amelia, can you make it to Manhattan? Like, now?" Steve urgently asks, because he wants her presence with him in this war. Amelia couldn't agree or feel the same way, "I'll try. But I definitely will because I don't break promises."
On television, they showed the trio which consists of Captain America, Hawkeye, and Black Widow. The live footage zoomed in at Captain America grinning, because he remembers the promise to come back in one piece. "Thanks. We need you out here, Amelia. Aliens keep appearing everywhere and we need to save and evacuate civilians," Steve declares in his 'captain' tone, which couldn't help Amelia but smile. Stella heard those words as she eavesdrops loud and clear, enraged of the man on TV 'influencing' Amelia to fight a war that isn't hers. But guess what lady, its always has been.
"How are the others?" Amelia asks as she picks up the hoodie and makes her way to the exit. There's no way is she teleporting in front of her beloved step-family. Steve replies, "they're good, and have you seen the alien creature-thingy-majigy?"
"Amelia! Come back here!" Stella cries out at her step-granddaughter, Regina continues watching the news in terrified awe, eventually turning her direction towards her enraged mother. Stella's cry stopped Amelia in her tracks on the way to teleport. "Gotta go, Steve. Never forget I'm coming back!" Amelia silently says her farewell before turning to Stella. "Please make it..." And those were Steve's final words before he returned back to fighting.
Amelia faces her step-grandmother, giddy to do her duty as a participant in Avengers Initiative. "Stella, I have to go. My friend needs the help all they can get! I need to--"
"NO! I will not permit you to join this war that isn't yours to fight!" Regina couldn't help but watch the brewing argument, still trying to calibrate on what she had just seen on live, national television.
"Mom..." Regina tried gaining her attention, but Stella just ignored her.
"Amelia Elnora Vale, you will not risk your life for that young man!" When Amelia heard those words, she's like, what the fuck is this lady talking about?! Seriously though! But Stella continues, "I will stop you from leaving this mansion if its the last thing I'll do!"
Stella stands up from her couch as seven bodyguards suddenly enter the living room with guns, yes, loaded guns aimed at Amelia. Yeah, she's a really fucked up grandmother, well, sometimes. Regina watched as the men aim their guns at her step-niece, "mom, are you insane?!"
Amelia eyed the guards, "Amelia, I will stop you even if it takes desperate measures." And Stella meant every word for it. Amelia raised her hands in the air, behind her head. Sneakily although, she switched her ring's position, prepping it for teleportation.
"Stella, I need to head to Manhattan right now!" Amelia tries to reason.
Her step-grandmother was unaware about her special abilities, which made her more confused. "And you will be too late if you make it to that city. You're in the south for Christ's sake!"
"True, but I have my ways Stella."
Those words rose Stella's eyebrows, "what makes you think that I will let you head to Manhattan where aliens are still raging that civilian populated city?"
"The fact that I am 26 years old, no longer that precious 16-year-old granddaughter you've first met. I'm no longer that irresponsible and stubborn teenager, Stella." It softened her eyes, but it still doesn't convince her. "I want to do this."
But what Regina was doing while the tension is escalating and arguing is brewing was putting the pieces together. Why is she involved with S.H.I.E.L.D in the first place anyways? How come is she friends with those superheroes on TV? Don't superheroes have power to make them super? How is she going to head to Manhattan quicker than a plane ride anyway? Wait a second...
A long pause occurs between Stella and Amelia, but Regina broke it off. "Amelia... Are- are you hiding something from us?" She warily asks as she stands up from her seat. The question made Amelia feel frozen, stupefied. And that made her step-grandmother more curious.
Stella rehearsed with her bodyguards earlier that whatever movement she'll try to attempt to escape, shoot her. Yeah, she really is desperate of keeping her away from, well, this.
Amelia sighs in defeat, but still kept that straight and proud poise. "Fine. I will tell you the truth if you let me go to Manhattan." I'm wasting so much time, Amelia thought to herself. Stella won't fall for it, but she'll agree at least once for now. With a nod, Stella she didn't fall for it but approved of the incoming truth from her suspicious step-granddaughter.
As Amelia slowly lowers her hands, she straightaway lies, "I'm sorry, but I have to go." Regina was more confused than Stella at this point, both having the feeling they don't know the real Amelia anymore. Like they've lost her ever since she joined the mission those five days ago.
What happened next was a loud gunshot echoed through the walls of the mansion as Amelia vanished before everybody's eyes.
