12; GOD OF THUNDER
"Why Earth?" I asked Loki in front of me, who turns out to be seated very calmly. His eyes are wary about the jet, like who's he waiting for? I will not let myself get fooled again. "Or why Midgard, as you Asgardians would call this planet." I took off the earpiece, because I won't need it anymore.
Tony looked over me, with a combined look that shows perplexity and impressed. "How do you know that?" He asks. Steve just stared out of the window, watching and guarding on what's probably coming. At the same time although, he also is guarding over the prisoner.
"Research. I also do know that Loki is the Norse god of mischief and lies, is a prince of Asgard, but turns out to be Laufeyson, which is jötunn. One of the sons of Odin and Frigga, also is the brother of Thor. And really interesting relationships with, those other, well." I explained, astonishing Tony and Steve, while still Loki remained calm.
"Deary, Midgard is realm and it is meant to be ruled," Loki starts explaining, and okay, simple and crazy answer, and will he stop calling me 'deary' or 'dear'?! "Also, those relationships are lies, mortal. Same goes to the fact that I am no longer a respected prince of Asgard nor am I a brother to Thor or a son of Odin." Loki responds grimly as he kept eyeing every movement in the jet, same goes to Steve, but he is eyeing his movements.
"Ha, relationships?" Tony questions, wanting to know more obviously.
"Very unusual relationships, so don't ask." I warned Tony, because when I first found out, it was, well, uncanny and weird really. Tony just shrugged it off, but I ask, "How do you know who I was in the first place?"
"Well, Amelia, I didn't know you'll join Phase 2, I have no idea why until Fury sent me a file. Your file, and fire and ice, really?" I just smiled, revealing ice on my left, fire on my right to answer his question. His eyes widened, while I notice Steve adorably grinning. Loki just rolled his eyes, sighing gravely. "Also, it added more weight to my homework, which reminds me, where is the Tesseract?" He turned to Loki, getting this job over with. Steve finally stood up, walking towards me.
"Stark, how about we deal that back at headquarters?" Steve asks, I kinda agree, considering the fact that I think we're almost there. Interrogation should be later, I suppose. Tony just shrugged it off, just like always since the first few minutes I knew him.
"Hey," I greeted Steve, who turned to look at me, "what were you looking for, out there?" I whisper, considering this is a small jet with passengers that have huge ears.
He gave another glance out the window, making sure no trouble is trailing us behind, "well, just watching out for commotions or such things that will cause us any trouble transporting this guy." Steve whispers back, aware that nobody won't eavesdrop. For what? I don't know, I just don't want to.
We walked towards to where Natasha is piloting the jet, but not too close that she'll eavesdrop on our conversation. "So you guys are leaving me with him over here?" Tony jokingly asks, which Steve and I ignored, rolling my eyes. See? Yup.
"Steve, do you know Loki can duplicate and shape shift? Why isn't he doing it to, you know, escape? Could this be his own duplicate, or a decoy? He seems so, calm." Steve took another peek over Loki, who just furrowed his eyebrows, staring blankly at the jet's walls. I may not sound calm, but those suggestions are possibly possibilities.
"I guess those handcuffs prevent him from doing so, but Amelia, he's the real deal. Don't worry," he reminded me, remaining his concern and calm.
I sighed deeply, "I just don't like it, I mean, like he's super." He's a god.
Steve scoffed, "he can pack a wallop." True that.
"I know, its just that gods like him, their prowess should be based on their abilities," I took another peek, "he's like taking the Super Soldier serum himself."
He replies with a frown, pursing his lips. What did I say? "What do you mean by 'prowess should be based on their abilities?'"
I gazed into his blue eyes, "This god is a sorcerer, not fighter." Steve took another peek, but he then gazed into my eyes, "I think we should worry about that when we're back at base." He assures me, making my wonder why really.
"Or I'm changed from this inappropriate dress for this mission," I mumbled and wrapped my arms around myself, hoping Natasha didn't hear that.
Steve chuckles, showing his perfect row of white teeth. "Amelia, the dress was not crap!" I heard Natasha exclaim, making my bite my lower lip, giving Steve my 'I shouldn't have said that' look. Huh, Natasha did hear it. Ha ha, yeah, see?
"Uh, could you two come over here, you know, not leaving me out of whatever you guys are talking about?" Tony unnecessarily directed us, but we approached him anyway. "Can we talk about someone else besides him, you know, for the moment?"
"Well," I directed towards my dress, "I need to change."
Steve looked away, smiling. "Well, it is a pretty dress."
The compliment made me smile, which is a rookie mistake, considering Tony is smirking, like- Oh my god, the Banner smirk.
"Well, well, well," Tony announced while still smirking, that smirk, "okay, let's talk about Amelia, hi." He took out his hand, jokingly, again, but I shook it anyway. "You hack?"
I looked up, beaming because that's what I frequently do, on my spare time besides sparing or anything related to that. "Absolutely!"
"Now to cap," Tony turned to Steve, "hi." He took out his hand, jokingly again, as Steve shook it anyway. "How's the, well, you know?"
"Eh," he crossed his arms, looking away from Tony then to me. "I agree, I don't like it," he turned towards Loki, making me nod.
"What?" Tony starts questioning, "Rock of Ages giving up so easily?" jokingly mocking Steve.
"I don't remember it being ever that easy," Steve replies, making me realize that I'll probably won't be included in this conversation, so I walked away towards the prisoner. "This guy packs a wallop."
"Still, you are pretty spry, for an older fellow. What's your thing, Pilates?" I kept my eye on Loki, who looked back. Replying by shooting daggers, I shot some more back.
Crossing my arms, I hear Steve question. "What?"
"It's like calisthenics. You might have missed a couple things, you know, doing time as a Capsicle." Steve does things harder than normal calisthenics, he knows that right?
"Fury didn't tell me he was calling you in," Steve starts reasoning, I kept eyeing Loki, "he says he'll take care of you."
"Yeah, there's a lot of things Fury doesn't tell you," Tony replies, then he turns to me, "or any of you."
Then out of the blue, rumbling of thunder and lightning nearly hit the jet, shaking us violently. Somehow, it affected Loki, in a disturbed way. He kept staring at the window though, but not in a calm way, he is intently staring at it. "Where's this coming from?" Natasha mumbles to herself, but I heard her say it. More thunder roared against the dark, night sky, as more lightning rumbled followed ahead.
I turned to Loki, whom I glanced with an expression in my face that showed my shock. Oh please don't tell me, its who I think it is.
Loki kept looking troubled looks, "What's the matter? Scared of a little lightning?" Steve questions him, realizing his agitated look on his face. I turned to him. Lightning.
Staying silent, I watched as more thunder and lightning followed. This is all so sudden, I think I may know who's coming.
"I'm not overly fond of what follows," Loki replies as more lightning shocked the jet.
Somehow, the person that I expected to come popped in my head, but I think he shouldn't have arrived yet, not at this time. "The mighty Thor," I commented, making both Steve and Tony display questioning looks. "The god of thunder." More thunder shook, making me trip, but Steve thankfully caught me in his large arms, myself clinging to his shoulders. Oh my god- wait, not another god though! I stood up, thanking Steve with a nod.
"Who?" Tony questions immediately, but this blinding light hit the jet, except its probably not light. A mighty god slash king. Also his brother. The ramp of the jet unexpectedly opened, revealing the person I knew it would be. Well except he's not a person, he's a freaking god. Thor entered the jet forcefully, then grabbed his prison bound brother by the throat, instantly leaving the jet with him in his hands. Unlike me, it left Steve and Tony dumbstruck, even Natasha, who didn't really witnessed what just happened. I felt like I knew this was coming.
"Now there's that guy, who?" Tony asks, making me turn to face him.
"Another Asgardian?" Natasha adds, I nod my head rapidly.
"Think the guy's friendly?" Steve asks, making me reply right away. "I don't even know!"
"Look, it doesn't matter," Tony grabs his robotic helmet, putting it on. "If he frees Loki or kills him, the Tesseract's lost." Tony prepares himself to jump out of the jet, but Steve ceased him.
"Stark, we need a plan of attack!" Steve protests, while I watch the fleeing brothers.
"I have a plan. Attack." Tony, now Iron Man, jumps and flies out of the jet, chasing after Thor. I think I'll do something, eh.
Steve preps himself a parachute, but I don't need a parachute. I'll just teleport! "I'll sit this one out, cap." mentions Natasha, with Steve quickly replying, "I don't see how I can. Amelia, are you coming?"
Steve faces me, but I instantly answered, "I doubt Thor will kill him, they're brothers." I ran up to the open ramp, ready to teleport, "Steve, I'll just teleport!"
"Okay, be careful where you'll end up to!" I nodded, except I know where to go.
"These guys come from legends," Natasha advises us, even though I knew that, before we exit the jet, "they're basically gods." She probably hasn't been listening, oh well.
"There's only one God ma'am. And I'm pretty sure he doesn't dress like that," he then turns to me, ready. "Ready?"
"Way ahead of you," replying instantly, and then I vanished.
Appearing onto the side of a cliff, I clung onto the rocks on its edges, standing. Why are these heels giving me such a freaking hard time? They're pretty though, heh. As soon as I landed on the cliff, I carelessly let a sharp rock slashed my fore arm, Damn it! At this time?! "Ugh, seriously?! Shit!" I loudly whispered to myself, with blood pooling quickly from the newly cut wound. I'll just freeze the blood then, doesn't matter on how disgusting it sounds or looks. I did freeze the blood, preventing it from dripping off my arm. The wound looked and felt cold and stingy against my skin, but I don't mind. Wounds like this deep and lengthy ones don't really happen to me, but I am at least used to it, except not open for everybody to see. I'll need stitches later.
Waiting for anything peculiar to happen, and it turns out I did know where to go. Thor unexpectedly landed and crashed Loki onto the cliff, while I clung to the side, hidden. I assume Loki has a hard time raising himself up like always, but I watched and started eavesdropping on their 'bonding time'. Whoa, like seriously, Thor raised Mjölnir, the mighty hammer that only Thor is able to wield. Wow. Wonder what happened between those two.
"Where is the Tesseract?" Thor demanded Loki in his deep, bellowing voice. How do these Asgardians have these accents? What are they, like British or Austrailian?
"I missed you too," Loki remarks chuckling, kinda funny actually.
"Do I look like to be in the gaming mood?!" Thor freaked, seriously. He threatened Loki with his hammer, but Loki just showed calmness and he's somehow amused that Thor had gotten serious. He is the god of mischief after all.
"Oh you should thank me. With the Bifrost gone how much dark energy did he Allfather have to muster to conjure you here?" Isn't Bifrost the place in Asgard that transports you the different 'Nine Realms'? Loki then adds grimly, "your precious Earth."
Thor does protect Earth now and then, but rarely do people really see him, but Nick told me they've monitored him though. Anyways, he dropped the hammer, causing the mountains to quake, obviously almost shaking me off. But I kept clinging to the rock, careful to stay hidden. Thor then grabbed his brother, clinging onto his shoulders, "I thought you were dead." His voice croaked, and wait, dead?! How? Keep listening, Amelia! Somehow, whatever how badly this man or god did to him, he still treated him like family.
"Did you mourn?" Loki questions mockingly, yet I can still hint curiosity in his question.
"We all did. Our father-"
"Your father," he coldly corrected his brother, who obviously is still mentally wounded. "He did tell you my true parentage, did he not?" Thor finally lets his brother go from his hands, causing an even bigger gap between the siblings.
Realizing my wound's blood is starting to melt, I freeze it again. "We were raised together, we played together, we fought together," Thor starts reasoning, his deep voice still having a hint of hurt, "do you remember none of that?"
Loki turns around, furious, "I remember a shadow, living in the shade of your greatness. I remember you tossing me into an abyss. I was and should be king!" Loki felt like an outcast, I'm assuming, but is it because of his parentage or what?
"So you take the world I love as recompense for your imagined slights. No, the Earth is under my protection, Loki."
Loki then laughs in amusement, contemplating that his brother's thoughts are wrong. "And you're doing a marvelous job at that. The humans slaughter each other in droves, while you idly threat. I mean to rule them. And why should I not?" Thank god you're not even doing that right now.
"You think yourself above them," Thor remarks, which is quite frankly, or absolutely frankly, he's right.
"Well, yes," Loki admits.
"Then you miss the truth of ruling, brother," damn right he is, "Throne would suit you ill." Loki isn't even Asgardian in the first place, right?
Loki shoves his brother at the side angrily, walking up to the ledge, turning to face Thor once more. "I've seen worlds you've never known about! I have grown Odinson, in my exile! I have seen the power of the Tesseract, and then I wield it-"
"Who showed you this power? Who controls the would-be-king?" Thor demands, making Loki more furious.
"I am king!" Loki exclaims, and up to this point, I don't even know if he is. If he's a king in the first place or not. I realized the blood from the wound is again, freaking melting. How is it melting that fast?! Its freaking freezing out here! Quite ironic actually, but-- oh freaking keep listening!
"Not here! You give up the Tesseract! You give up this poisonous dream!" Then he walked towards Loki, clinging onto his neck, "You come home." He sounds like he misses his brother, but feels somehow resisted on forgiving his brother on what he has done. That is, what is it really in the very first place?
"I don't have it. You need the cube to bring me home, but I've sent it off to I know not where." It made Thor even more furious, while Loki just grins menacingly. Thor then orders Mjölnir to fly back to his grasp, like magnets. Clever, sending the Tesseract to an unknown location. Damn it.
"You listen well, brother. I-" Then he was interrupted by radiating rockets, I assume is Iron Man, or should I say, Tony Stark. What the actual fuck just happened? I was somehow enjoying the brotherly drama and learning information here!
Peeking over, I spot, yes Tony, flying Thor in his grasp to I don't know where. "I'm listening," Loki remarks, and it was actually funny. Anyways, he chuckles, I guess my job is done, oh wait, I have to bring him in. "Mortal, you can come out now," Loki mentions unexpectedly, and it caught my attention. Alright, how?
I freeze the blood once again, a thick layer of ice covering my frozen wound so he wouldn't notice. Stepping out of the rocky edge of the cliff, I appeared before Loki. "Unbelievable."
"How'd you know? I teleport really sneakily and unnoticed, so how?" I question Loki both jokingly and seriously, who just grinned, rolling his eyes. Crossing my arms, he finally replies, "Beautiful mortal, I can sense it." Course he did. And thanks?
"So all of this, just started from claiming a throne of a mythical realm?" I question him once more, glaring daggers.
"No longer a mythical realm is it? Would you mind for me to tend to that wound?" Loki pointed to my frozen wound, but I secretly froze it once more. How did he notice it in the dark?
"No thank you, I'll preserve it just fine," I placed my arm around my back so it cannot be seen, "anyways, answer my question."
"Yes, but I insist to at least make the wound less visible," Loki surprisingly insisted, shocking me a tiny bit. He replied, but hey, why not?
"I will let you make the wound less visible, unless you answer more of my questions," I bargain, hoping that he'll agree to it. He looked away, just nodding in agreement.
"Alright, ask away." Sighing, I walked up to him warily, almost like tip toeing. He crossed his arms, but I am still cautious even though if he offered some hospitality. Revealing my arm, the wound was almost no longer frozen, with some blood dripping to the sides of my arm. I know, gross. Loki inhaled sharply, probably couldn't stand blood himself. He rested his hand underneath my forearm, with his other hand mere centimeters from my arm, he slides his hand, causing the wound to be no longer visible. "First, the wound's spell will only be temporary, so the wound will gradually reveal itself. And second, what are your questions?" I look up.
"First thank you for that," I still glared at him while thanking him, but I think he doesn't mind, "and, so you just want a throne? To be a king."
"The answer is simple, yes. And your welcome." I looked up to him, pursing my lips, nodding. Taking some steps backward, I asked again, "who is controlling the would-be-king then?"
"You listen attentively for a mortal, but it should not be named, for now." Ugh, really? What is he, like Voldemort? Loki answers stubbornly, as if we are playing a mind game. Clever, he said 'it', careful to not announce his gender. Smart. Or he has no gender... It doesn't matter!
"Seriously, name." I demanded, but he just chuckles.
"None of any of you mortals' business." Huh, alright. On to another question, then. Crossing my arms, I asked another question, "Did you really lie to Thor, you sent the Tesseract to another location? With your zombie slaves?" I raised my eyebrow.
He chuckles, "I do not lie; therefore, I am uncertain of its location." Huh, I still think he is lying, that snake. Grinning menacingly, "clearly, you are on my brother's side."
"I am," looking up, "as you are obviously not." He starts walking around me, I guess thinking of how he can escape. "And stop strolling around me, stay still." Stopping on his tracks, out of the blue, a rumbling explosion occurred into the woods below the cliff. "What the hell was that?" I questionably mumbled to myself, making Loki chuckles silently. After a wave of blinding light and metal vibrating stroke, it obviously almost knock my balance off, but I kept myself upright. Running up closer to the ledge, I search for the source of the powerful occurence from above, but it was just too dark out here in this, uh forest.
"I suppose the mighty Mjölnir has collided onto its match," Loki commented, making me realize-- Steve. His vibranium shield. Wait, what about Tony? What has happened all this time under my nose?
Curiosity and anger boils up inside of me, I miss some of the action. Storming towards Loki, I started freezing his feet and body altogether, leaving his face out, unfrozen. "Mortal, what have you done?! I swear in the name of Odin, I will--" I instantly froze his mouth as well with a thick layer of ice over it, so he could just shut the hell up.
"Loki, you're coming with me!" My hands clung onto the frozen sides, teleporting us out of the cliff. Loki kept grunting, demanding to melt or at least to break the ice that's keeping him still. But I just ignored it.
We appeared behind a grove of demolished trees, look at all of this, power. I heard Steve ask, "Are we done here?" The boys probably faced Thor, thank god Steve, I mean, Captain America ended it.
Teleporting to appear before them, with the almost frozen Loki at my side, I reply, obviously surprising the trio, "You guys better be." Tony revealed his face from his Iron Man suit, as Thor then instantly points Mjölnir towards me. Whoa!
"Whoa! Put the hammer down!" Steve exclaims, as it startles me, raising my hands up. Immediately reveal fire, sparking up on my hands. Dude, chill! Oh ha, I'm like fire and ice, okay, never mind.
"Then explain what a sorceress is doing here, with my brother. Frozen!" Thor asks, still pointing the hammer towards me. Fire still sparks flames in my hands. "Dude, she's on our side!" Tony adds, defending me.
Steves runs up to Thor, slowly withdrawing the hammer, "he's right, Thor. Put. The. Hammer. Down." Thor withdraws the hammer, as I slowly quench my flames.
"Thor, right? Yeah, okay. Uh, I froze Loki so he couldn't, um escape." Assuring him, his eyes softened. Steve starts walking towards me, "can we talk about everything back at the jet? I am literally freezing." I am quivering and shivering, gritting my teeth. Plus I'm like standing next to an almost frozen god.
Thor chuckles, "then why dress such for the occasion?"
I started laughing, smiling, "well, long story." Then I turned to Loki, and with my legerdemain, I decided to freeze another layer of ice over his mouth, so it wouldn't melt. And he could shut up on the way back.
He shot back a look, that practically says, 'I will kill you for this'. Well ha, not a chance.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
OKAY, YAY! SHE FINALLY MET THOR! AND YES, SHE IS STILL WEARING THE DRESS, THE PURSE AND HER EARPIECE IS BACK AT THE JET. SOMEHOW IN THE MIDDLE OF THAT RIDE, STEVE HAS ALSO TAKEN OUT HIS EARPIECE, JUST PUTTING IT OUT THERE.
AMELIA THINKS SHE HAS RETRIEVED IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT LOKI, BUT SHE'S ABOUT TO FIND OUT MORE, ON NOT JUST LOKI, BUT ABOUT SOMEONE ELSE IMPORTANT IN HER LIFE, SO STAY TUNED FOR THAT IN THE NEXT CHAPTER! HINT, ITS NOT STEVE, BUT HE'LL EVENTUALLY GET EVEN MORE IMPORTANT FOR AMELIA IN HER LIFE. SAME GOES TO STEVE, LIKE THE OTHER WAY AROUND, WELL IN THE MERE FUTURE. HOPE YOU GET THAT.
I DECIDED TO MAKE LOKI A LITTLE BIT MORE 'HOSPITABLE' TOWARDS AMELIA, BECAUSE HIS PORTRAYAL IN REAL LIFE IT SUCH A GENTLEMEN. COUGH, COUGH, TOM, COUGH, HIDDLESTON. SERIOUSLY, LOOK IT UP. WATCH SERIOUSLY ANYTHING INVOLVING HIM, BECAUSE HE IS A, WELL, GENTLEMAN! WHILE WRITING THIS, I ENDED UP READING URBAN DICTIONARY ABOUT THE CAST OF THE AVENGERS, BUT TOM'S CAUGHT MY EYE, BECAUSE FIRST, ITS AN INCREDIBLY LONG DESCRIPTION, AND A REALLY, GOOD, HA, FUNNY ONE.
THIS WILL BE THE LAST PART OF 'THE BRIEF UNDERCOVER' SERIES OF CHAPTERS, SO NEW OUTFIT NEXT CHAPTER, HEE HEE. AND MORE AVENGERS AND HELICARRIER TIMES/MOMENTS.
ALSO, I AM HONESTLY STILL THINKING ABOUT HER HERO NAME. SAME GOES TO HER 'COSTUME', BUT ALL I THINK IS THAT HER COSTUME SHOULD BE JUST STREET CLOTHES, TO SHOW THAT ANYBODY CAN BE ONE, NO MATTER THE SITUATION. BUT HER NAME? I STILL HAVE NO IDEA. I STILL NEED SOMETHING THAT PRESENTS FIRE AND ICE, CAN KICK ASS, AND, WELL, I GUESS COMPUTERS? I HAVE NO IDEA, STILL.
MORE OF AMELIA'S STORY LINES ARE BEING FURTHERED QUESTIONED IN MY MIND AS THIS FAN FICTION GOES ON, BUT THEY THANKFULLY POP UP IN MY HEAD, FAIRLY QUICKLY FOR ME TO TYPE/WRITE.
HER BOND WITH STEVE HOPEFULLY WILL BE DETERMINED QUICKLY AND DEEPLY IN THE NEXT CHAPTER, BECAUSE MORE TRAGIC, SHALL HAPPEN! *EVIL LAUGHS... WELL, JUST STAY TUNED.
THANK YOU FOR MORE READS MAKING UP TO THIS POINT! I WILL ALWAYS PUT LOTS OF EFFORT ON WRITING THIS, IT SURPRISINGLY SPARKS UP MY INTERESTS AND I LOVE IT! I HOPE TO SEE MORE OF MYSELF GROWING, ALWAYS ENJOYING AT THIS, AND HOPEFULLY IS GETTING BETTER AND MORE ADVANCED AT THESE TYPES OF STUFF, BECAUSE I JUST SIMPLY LOVE IT!
THANKS AGAIN.
