11; KNEELING BEFORE HIM
From vanishing into thin air at the base to now finally appearing in a dark alley, unnoticed, I scanned my surroundings waiting for the chance to appear before a crowd. I left the creepy, dark alley, and realized this red dress, well, catching too many eyes for German douche bags. Or just plain creepy and random strangers. So, why not teleport again? This place is literally freaking me out, even though I can kick their asses to the curb if they try to grab mine.
Teleporting, I appeared in front of a large bush, to the side of the museum, as it looks like it. I strolled away from the bush, straightened my poise, then clung to my small purse, making my way downtown, walking fast, faces passed, and I'm home bound. LOL, JK JK JK!! But anyways, I made my way towards the museum, and yes, people are distributing weird looks because, well, the fancy clothes. Expensive-looking cars, practically limos, deliver they're elegant passengers, men in lavish tuxedos and women in extravagant dresses. Bright lights highlight across the night sky, making all of this, appear very embellished.
Arriving finally, before me stood a red carpet, more people in fancy clothing, and a museum, all clogged up together for this gala. "Steve, I just arrived at 28 Konigstrasse, do you copy?" As I am waiting for his reply, I started climbing up the steps, feeling like I am going to a ball without a date instead of a gala, that is, is a ball and gala a same thing? I wish I have somebody to talk to, oh wait, the earpiece. WOW.
What's taking him to reply for so long? Oh well, they're probably just about to board the jet. Taking out my phone, I checked the time. 7:08? That was fast, like traveling and teleporting here.
Museums are usually those typical buildings, boring, but I would describe this one as unique, considering the massive, rounded ceiling with renaissance painting filled with angels and clouds, and all these detailing and chandeliers. Large chandeliers occupy the center of the ceiling, while large and tall lamps stand around the corners of the museum. All of this gives me a feeling that we are having a gala or ball in a church or cathedral.
Sets of stairs rest ahead of me, leading to the second level with windows of extraordinary tinted glass and a balcony, made of white marble I presume. Another of those angelic paintings are also on the walls of the second level.
Square pillars also rest here, white again, massive and thick and every each one of them is scaling up and down from the floor up to the balconies and to the rounded ceiling. Next to the set of stairs presents a small orchestra of string and woodwind instrument players. Obviously, I couldn't recognize the music.
As I kept entering the museum, I notice this table-looking thing located in the center of the whole floor. Honestly, I have no idea on how to describe this, but I'll just say stuff about this, thing anyway. It looks like a massive table, with gold on the its flat top. Two heads of, I guess oxen, some sort of cow made out of white marble are on each side.
A man then approached me I assume he offering me champagne. I just nodded and smiled, "danke." With the champagne in my hand, delightfully tasting the stars, Steve's voice unexpectedly popped in my ear. "Hey Amelia, are you already there?"
"Yeah, I'm here. Drinking champagne," I took another sip, "really good champagne."
He just laughed, but not too loud nor to soft, "Do you know I can't get drunk?" I knew that from Project 45, but I'll just lie that I don't know, since that was classified, even though if it kinda involved him. Could champagne even get you drunk? Oh wait, never mind.
"Huh, no. Is it because of the serum?" I 'curiously' asked him, but his question made me chuckle a little bit.
"Yes, but its still nice to taste the sour and sweet acidic taste in your mouth, well sometimes." That thought made me smile, because he described the tasting feeling to be very definite. Plus, I rarely drink too, so sometimes, its a really good feeling.
"Oh," he chuckled, "what's it like inside?"
"Very majestic, the design of the whole place looks like its based of a cathedral though." But I continued, taking more sips of the champagne, "there a pillars, flights of stairs, and this marble gold looking table in the middle of the floor."
"Interesting, do you see Loki there?" Surprisingly, I am still searching for him, and he is nowhere to be found. Where the hell is this guy?
"Sorry Steve, I can't find him," I kept taking sips off the champagne, and I realized everybody is staring at me, but I simply turned away. "Oh great, everyone keeps staring at me, but this champagne is really good though." Is it that weird that I look like I am talking to myself?
He laughs, making me smile while I drank the rest of the champagne, "Amelia, you're honestly beautiful tonight, really. So, there's no need to worry." Now that made me smile bigger than when the Cheshire Cat is smiling. Its also making me blush redder than tomatoes. Probably as red as blood, well, sure!
"Really?" Then all of the sudden, the classical music stopped, causing everyone to gather around a man, I assume is one of the scientists that help manages the museum, including the gala tonight.
"Oh great, the music stops because this random guy will do a speech or something," I announced to Steve, who just replies, "Stay at the back of the crowd and keep an eye out for Loki."
"Yup, I know. Although I'm having this feeling like this location is wrong, something's not right," I started stating doubtfully, he is after all nowhere in sight. I ignored on what the man on the microphone is saying, because first, I couldn't understand German, and second, I'm just here to find Loki, or do plan B.
"No, Amelia, the god is probably just late. You shouldn't worry, just lure him when you see him." Then it hit me, literally. Ha! Just kidding! Actually, if Loki is just after the iridium, I can't believe I completely forgot about his 'zombie slaves'! Like, instead of Loki would steal the iridium, probably Agent Barton will do his dirty work!
"Oh my gosh Steve," I started to explain, urgently.
"Why? Is he there now?" His head is always on doing the right thing, righteousness. Determination. Straight to the plan. I lionize Steve for that, not just because of the serum, but he's loyal, kind, determined, practically a rare breed for a man these days. Ha, it sounds weird, like I'm man-hunting or something.
"No, what if he's just a distraction? Like he's not distracting us yet, but he will be so his minions could do the work!"
"Amelia, are you saying-"
But it was too late, because as soon as I spot Loki climbing down the flight of stairs, he knocked down one of the guards with his scepter or spear, causing a woman to scream. "Amelia? What was that?!" Steve exclaimed, alerted to the scream. I just stood there, petrified like the people attending the gala.
"Steve, Loki's just arrived. He just knocked one of the guards and- oh my god!" I dropped my champagne glass, shattering against the floor as more people screamed. Loki tossed the man saying the speech over the artifact in the middle of the table, and then he brought out this, did he just-?! What the hell?!
"Amelia?!" Steve kept grabbing my attention, but it doesn't stop me from watching a terrible sight.
Loki brought out this, thing, that has three needles surrounding a circular plate, and it kept spinning. He pierced it at the man's eye, a gory sight, as the man struggled. Loki watched the room with amusement, watching a room filled with panicked and screaming people, running out of the museum for their lives. That sickening god, I just want to freeze or burn him at the spot. Wait! Amelia, follow the plan!
"Steve! Loki just--"
"Amelia? Amelia! Okay, we are on our way," Steve reminded me. "Okay, I think we'll have to do plan B."
He's right, I have to follow the crowd and lead the rest to Steve and Natasha. "Alright, I'll protect and evacuate the crowd, don't counter attack yet!" I ordered Steve over the earpiece, yet I still have this hint of panic inside of me. My heart beats faster and faster as I hurriedly, with the crowd, exit the museum.
"I know, just be careful! I don't want to get you hurt!" Hold up, what did he just say? He doesn't want me to get, hurt?
"Alright!" I answered back to the earpiece as I started trailing behind Loki, who is exiting the building. Thankfully, he hasn't noticed me tip toeing behind him, but I still need to be in the crowd of frightened people. Loki then transformed his 'gala clothing' to the Asgardian type of clothing, a leather suit with gold helmet and this green cape. With the scepter in his hand, I ran away from trailing behind him, then I joined an old man in the crowd.
Standing up beside the old man, a German police car started approaching him, but Loki just simply blasted the approaching vehicle with a powerful beam from his scepter, making the police car to flip, crashing it against the road.
All of us reached to a point where everybody, not just the people attending the gala, started to gather. Although, Loki duplicated himself, grouping us into one huge crowd as he started exclaiming, "Kneel before me!"
None of us listen, but I turned to face his way. He exclaimed once more, "I said," He added by tapping his scepter against the cold, hard pavement. His scepter also displayed a beam of blue light, signaling all of us to kneel, "KNEEL!" I have to follow their actions to blend in, but I gradually started becoming fearless and calm. Just ignore panic.
Everyone has their frightened expression on their faces, but soon everyone kneel before him.
Loki sneered a menacing smirk, raising his hands and his to represent that he is amused and is pleasuring the moment. He thinks he rules everything.
I kept scanning the area, realizing he duplicated himself four times, each one eyeing every movement, everyone who is daring to run and is positioned on each point. Loki stood in front, facing all of us.
"Is not this simpler?" Sure. "Is this not your natural state?" Loki started strutting into the frightened crowd, everyone making a path for him. He continues his speech, "Its the unspoken truth of humanity, but you crave subjugation." Forming his hand into a fist, representing power, he raised the end of his scepter towards all of us. "The bright lure of freedom diminishes your life's joy in a mad scramble for power, for identity." He paused, "you are made to be ruled. And in the end, you will always kneel."
Then the old man kneeling beside me daringly stands up, faces Loki proudly. "Not to men like you," the old man protests with a disapproving frown on his face.
"What are you doing?!" I whispered loudly at the old man, but he just ignored it.
Loki scoffed as he kept on smiling, "There are no men like me." You are blind, just take some research about this planet and you'll realize you are wrong.
The old man just stood proudly, still affirming his statement, demonstrating that Loki's 'authority' over us is useless and wrong. "There are always men like you." Damn right that is.
Loki then raised his staff, I knew he will shoot a beam from his scepter, just to extinguish the old man. Thank god mom taught me how to make a shield, either from ice or fire. My hands started getting cold, ready to produce an ice shield to deflect the beam for the old man. "Look to your elder people," his scepter generating sound and light, "let him be an example." The old man's eyes widened, Alright, that's it!
Without noticing above me, Steve, in his daring Captain America suit, unanticipatedly appeared, using his own shield to reflecting Loki's beam back to him. It obviously made Loki stumble forward, making him furious. Captain America! Relief took over me, thank god.
Que the heroic war music! Scratch the ice shield plan, how about icicles? While my hand prepared to form and shoot the icicles towards Loki, its time for Steve's brief speech.
Loki looked up to him with disgust in his face, "You know the last time I was in Germany, and I saw a man standing before everybody else, we ended up disagreeing." I looked up to Steve, beaming brighter at the sun. Hey! Snap out of it, and get ready to evacuate the freaking people!
Loki raised himself up, remarking, "The soldier." Laughing menacingly, he pointed out his spear back at Steve. "The man out of time."
"I'm not the man that's out of time."
I then shot my icicle, but Loki caught it, it didn't missed him, he just caught it. "My dear," he remarked as I raised myself up, poised and shooting daggers at him, "You missed."
"It was a warning shot," I shot back, flames sparked up in my hands. The sass got real, I thought it sounded bad ass. Loki just laughed after noticing the flames, thinking that all of us is just a joke. But I just ignored it, let's get into business. From the corner of my eye, I spot Steve just grinning.
Upon the black night sky appeared the black jet, with Natasha piloting the jet, she drew out the gun installed in the jet and exclaimed over it's speakers, "Loki, drop the weapon and stand down!"
Loki reacted by shooting one of his beams, but Natasha thankfully dodged it. He then turned to me to shoot a beam, but again, Steve swooped towards me with his shield to reflect the beam aiming for me back to Loki. "A warning shot?" Steve asks, ahem, I mean Captain America asks, well jokingly asks.
"Captain, I never miss," I answered back, making him smile. But it then hit me that I should do my business and evacuate the people, "Now go!"
Steve nodded as I turn away towards the running people with flames on my hands. Captain America throws his shield towards Loki, hitting him straight in the face, beginning their duel. As I watch from afar, I just yelled, "EVERYONE! PLEASE HEAD TO THE SIDES!" With that, I created a ring or border of fire, a circular border surrounding Steve and Loki fighting, because I need to avoid them on including these innocent people with the brutality occurring right now.
Soon the end of Loki's scepter reaches the top of Steve's head, making him kneel before him. Oh god. But Steve countered back and punched him, square in the face. "EVERYONE, PLEASE STAY AWAY!" I cry out, well not really scream, spreading more fire across the pavement, growing out the border. Everyone just watched me perform these fire tricks, but hey, this is just how I do it.
"Amelia!" I realized it was Natasha's voice popped in my earpiece, catching my attention, "I can't get a clear shot! He's all over the place..."
"Tell the captain that!" I held the earpiece in my ear, flames are still in my hands. I watch everyone flee immediately, away from Loki's madness. From afar, I just watch Steve and Loki duel against each other, either side is falling. Keeping the fire border steady, the thing that I least expected to hear came out from nowhere.
Music just popped out of nowhere, which, wait, is that AC/DC's SHOOT TO THRILL?! HOLY- THIS IS MY JAM!!! Well kinda, but hey! I recognized the song!
Looking up towards the sky, I spot a suit flying towards us. Holy- Freaking Iron Man! Aka Tony Stark.
Tony, or should I say, Iron Man landed on the pavement, stood up, then aimed his missiles towards the fallen Loki, who is currently laying on the steps. I ran over to Steve, reaching out my hand, assisting him on raising himself up. Returning his shield, he smiled, but ran towards Loki and Tony showing that he should better surrender.
And that's what I exactly thought. "Make your move, reindeer games," Tony warned him, which made Loki transfer to simpler Asgardian clothing, which is without his helmet and all that golden armor.
Approaching the trio from behind, I revealed fire and ice from both of my hands, which made Loki ultimately surrender. "Good move," Tony approved. Oh ha ha, that rhymed.
Steve turned towards to Tony, who was gasping for air. "Mr. Stark."
"Captain," then he turned over to me, revealing his face, "and looking beautiful tonight, Ms. Vale." Did he read my file or something? Be-because the famous Tony Stark just called me 'Ms. Vale' and freaking complimented me.
"Thank you," I reply, Tony smiles. Hoping I sounded pretty chill.
"I agree," Loki commented, interrupting the brief get-to-know-each-other meeting, making me glare more daggers towards him, "she does look ravishing tonight." Loki grinned, well menacingly as he starts standing up from the steps.
"Shut up and get up," Steve shot back, shocking me a little bit, while Tony just chuckled. Thanks again, Captain. Steve then came behind Loki and crossed his arms with a more technologically advanced handcuffs, probably preventing him from using his own, unidentified powers or preventing him from yielding his scepter. He kept his stern look towards him, which is giving me this, well unusual feeling.
"Pleasure to meet you Tony Stark, aka Iron Man," I take out my hand, as Tony shook it, "Now can we head back to base?"
"Pleasure is all mine, and yes. We shall transport the, erm package, back to the so called 'helicarrier'." I giggled, from the corner of my eye, I spot Steve rolling his eyes, but I just ignored him.Things are turning out, well good. "Oh by the way, its Tony, billionaire, genius, playboy, philanthropist-"
"Yeah, its Amelia." I interrupted him, but oh well. Tony then just shrugged and made his way towards the jet, I came up next to Steve. "Thanks by the way, you know-- everything."
"No problem, Amelia." He smiles, making my heart sing out aloud once more.
Just drop out Loki to the base, I guess everything will be over, right? Although I feel like we're still missing someone out...
