It was a warm, cosy Friday afternoon and Geto had just returned home from a day at the Curse-user Care Center (or the CCC).
"Tadaima!" He called out at the doorway, while simultaneously re-absorbing the rainbow dragon he had guarding his girls.
Geto kept the dragon guarding his house in addition to having shields placed up.
On the days Akari couldn't baby-sit, he'd have his rainbow dragon watch over them. He trusted no one else and would never. Geto didn't ask his other friends seeing as they had busier shedules.
Today Akari had been called in to help with a mission and would finish late. This meant that Geto had to juggle work and pick the kids up from school.
Completely flabbergasted and in a tizzy, he had left the dragon to watch them, while he dashed back to work, quickly wrapping up his work for the day. Being curse user kids meant that they were naturally more responsible.
They had a practice session before for days like these, where he showed them what was safe to do and what wasn't.
"You can eat from the snack cupbaord but no touching the stove or handling the fridge alone. You can use the toilet but remember to wash your hands and do not pull any stunts otherwise in there." He warned them.
They were sprawled on the fluffly rug in the lounge, busy coloring in their book, completing their homework.
He smiled, happy that they were liking school. "Geto-sama! Okaeri!!!" They chorused excitedly when they noticed him.
Hanging his keys on the hook behind the door and draping his jacket over the sofa he silently walked up to them, peering over at what they were doing. They were coloring in shapes. Today they learnt about quadrilaterals and as homework had to colour them in and label them correctly.
Leaving them to finish their labelling he strided into the kitchen, unfastening his buttons at the sleeves.
Rolling his shirt sleeves up, flashing his veiny hands, he dawned his apron on and began pulling out pots and pans from the upper cabinets.
He decided to make a nice warm dinner to go with the mood of the day and weather. It was a dark and cloudy, the sky rumbled, threatening to rain later on that evening.
Geto looked through the contents in the fridge and cupboard. Scrunching his eyes up in thought, his mind whizzed with different recipes.
Pulling out boxes of pasta, onions, garlic and some minced meat, he set to work on making a lovely pasta with braised mince and Napolitano sauce.
He diced a large white bulbous onion and set it to sauté with butter and minced garlic. He added back pepper and chopped chilli to it.
Lifting his head up he noticed that the clouds had deepened their grey colour. The twins were now playing in their room, their feint voices carrying over to him. The sound of them giggling and laughing, setting his heart at ease.
Adding in paprika, chopped chilli and the mince he lifted the pan with one strong wrist and tossed the contents effortlessly like a pro.
"God that's attractive..." Akari said, watching him from the side.
"Hey. I didn't hear you come home. " He said grinning at her.
"I know. You were so engrossed in cooking and the thunder is pretty loud." She said pointing out at the sky.
Rounding the counter she placed a kiss on his cheek, hugging him from the side.
Akari turned to check on the girls when she was caught from behind in a cuddle. "How was your day?" He asked softly.
"It was really exhausting and busy but it was a good day." She replied, bringing her hand up pet the side of his face.
"You managed the kids okay?" She asked concerned.
"Ah-ha-ha, it was a fixer uper plan. I had to pick them up from school and then drop them off here and went back to work. I had them watched though, they did fine." He said huffing out a relived laugh now that the larger part of the day was over.
She hummed, "Hunny why not keep the twins with you at the Care Center and have Kōryū watch them there?" Geto stilled.
"It'll be like daycare. Leaving them alone even though it's safe is isolating love." She continued, turning to glance at him.
Geto stood stunned, slowly he face palmed himself, "Why. Did. I. Not. Think. Of. That. Sooner!" He enunciated each word slowly shaking his head in wonder.
Hiding his face in his palms he groaned at how silly he was. Akari placed a supportive hand on his arm. "You're going through so much love, you're juggling so many things." She comforted him.
"Still, I should have thought of this sooner. It's genius!" He exclaimed.
Chuckling she answered, "Why thank you! But still, life isn't done alone. That's why you have us for support hunny."
Before they could say anything further Geto's eyes flashed with recognition. He dashed for the stove, saving the food before it burnt.
Akari cooly walked behind him and silently set the pasta to boil.
They worked silently, prepping the rest of dinner together. Delicious smells of garlic, mince and pasta with Napolitano sauce clung to the air amplifying the hunger everyone felt.
Akari had left to get Mimiko and Nanako, squeals at seeing her home sounded out. They loved being around her. Forgetting their discussion, Geto busied himself with setting the table.
The four of them ate dinner together, a picturesque family.
The twins shared stories about their day excitedly, talking about the new friends they made.
"Today we did a group project and made a big rainbow." Mimiko said.
Nanako nodded excitedly, "Ohh yeah! We helped colour the red and green stripes. Our teacher Miss Mina helped stick it up for us."
Geto listened with a huge smile on his face, nodding at them, hanging off every word. Akari watched the exchange, taking in her boyfriends' eyes and how they sparkled and came to life when he saw or heard his daughter's speak.
After dinner, the girls helped put their plates in the sink and had went off to pack their bag for school.
Geto was putting the remainder of the food away, busy in thought.
He joined Akari on the sofa, stretching out his arms and relaxing into the seat.
"Tired? Want to have an early night love?" She asked concerned.
Shaking his head no he replied, "No, no I want to spend time with you."
Geto opened his hair out from the half-knot he had it tied up in and shook his hair free. He laced his fingers through hers, bringing the back of her hand to his mouth he pressed a kiss to her hand.
"I love you. Thanks for being there even though it's so hard." He said gazing softly at her. His dark hair fell in beautiful waves, framing his handsome face.
"It's not hard at all hunny. I am with you. Everything is wonderful." She said kissing his cheek. "I love you too Sugu." She said after a beat.
She heard one of the twins call for them. "I'll get it." She said standing up.
Ten minutes passed, Geto sat drowsy on his sofa, exhausted from the day. "Look at this hunny." She said softly, holding their homework out to him.
Geto frowned, taking it from her to have a look.
"They watched a movie on superheros and were tasked with writing a few sentences on their favorite one." She added in.
Geto held the page, looking at the words with a frown. He became numb with emotion as he processed the meaning.
Geto read and reread the pages, taken aback.
Mimiko Class A:
𝕀 𝕖𝕟𝕛𝕠𝕪𝕖𝕕 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕞𝕠𝕧𝕚𝕖 𝕨𝕖 𝕨𝕒𝕥𝕔𝕙𝕖𝕕 𝕥𝕠𝕕𝕒𝕪. 𝕋𝕙𝕖 𝕙𝕖𝕣𝕠 𝕨𝕒𝕤 𝕓𝕣𝕒𝕧𝕖 𝕒𝕟𝕕 𝕤𝕥𝕣𝕠𝕟𝕘. ℍ𝕖 𝕚𝕤 𝕛𝕦𝕤𝕥 𝕝𝕚𝕜𝕖 𝕞𝕪 𝔾𝕖𝕥𝕠-𝕤𝕒𝕟. ℍ𝕖 𝕚𝕤 𝕞𝕪 𝕗𝕒𝕧𝕠𝕣𝕚𝕥𝕖 𝕤𝕦𝕡𝕖𝕣𝕙𝕖𝕣𝕠.
Nanako Class A:

He looked up at Akari speechless, eyes welling up with unshed tears.
"It turns out, you're doing pretty amazing as a dad." Akari said smiling.
His eyes ran over the lines again. Swallowing thickly, his throat constricted and bobbed. "I just wanted you to know that you're doing great... even if you don't feel it." She said in a soft comforting voice.
Burying his face into her he held Akari close, hiding his face. She hugged him close, petting his head comfortingly.
"You're the best man I ever met and it's okay to feel this way sometimes. You still are the best though, to me and the twins." She whispered.
She heard a faint sniffle and moved to get him tissues. Drying his tears up, they both entered the twins room. They were asleep already, huddled next to each other out of habit.
Leaning forward, Geto placed a kiss on their forheads and covered them better with the blankets.
Akari placed their homework in their bags and switched the light off. Pulling the door ajar, they exited the room.
Geto embraced her, holding on tight, "Tomorrow I'll take them to the Center with me after school." He said decidedly.
"That's a good plan love, but just know that when I am free, I'll watch them okay." She said squeezing him tightly.
"We're in this together." She said letting go, staring into his eyes.
"I am going to run all my plans by you from now on." He said dead panning. The two burst out laughing, chuckling at the scenario from earlier.
"That's fine with me. Especially when you're really busy." She said smiling.
Geto shook his head, "I just want to keep them safe and be the best parent. Sometimes I feel so baffled." He said softly.
"Well you saw already, they love you. You're their superhero Geto. Nothing cam beat that." She said kissing his cheek again.
It was getting late and Akari hugged him once more, getting ready to go back to her shared apartment with Shoko.
He walked her out, holding her close to him. "You'll be safe to go alone?" He asked worried. "Yeah, I am meeting Shoko nearby, we'll have each other for company." She said putting her jacket on.
"By the way, am I your superhero?" He asked mischievously. Akari beamed up at him, "You definitely are."
Holding her hips and kissing her goodbye one more time, he heard her whisper, "Sleep well, my Geto-man." Before turning to leave.
Geto stood grinning wide like a cat at the door way watching her go.
