"You've got to be kidding me..." Geto dragged out, staring at his best friend in disbelief.
"...... Happy Birthday daaaayy tooooooo youuuuu!!!!" Satoru ended, singing for his friend with a voice that sounded like nails on scraping on a chalkboard.
Geto had woken up to go to the bathroom at night. He was halfway through minding his own business when the door banged open. Lo and behold his best friend stood their, cake, candles and all.
As if Satoru planned this entire thing in his head, he began singing on que in an off tune, somber yet high pitched voice.
Satoru squawked out the birthday song, indifferent to Suguru's dead panned expression.
"Here quick blow out the candles." Satoru said holding the cake out to Suguru. The latter stared blankly at him. After minutes of Satoru beaming persistently, Suguru gave in and blew it out.
"Can you please go now." Suguru asked, hoping Gojo would leave him be now.
"What did you wish for?" Satoru asked curiously.
"For you to go away." Suguru replied trying to kick the door close.
Gojo grumbled, turning to leave when he said, "Oh Akari-chan you are here to yay! You made it for our midnight party." He said.
This was the first time Geto was hearing of such a thing. It was news to him.
He could hear his girlfriends voice but couldn't make out what she said.
"Oh yeah he's inside but you can come in." Satoru replied leaning casually cake in hand, against the bathroom threshold.
Trusting Gojo she peeped inside expecting Geto to be at the sink. It all happened at lightening speed.
Akari peeped inside and jumped like a mouse, Geto rushed to slam the door pushing Gojo out. Satoru whined and protested.
"Hey! She's your girlfriend. We can't exclude her."
Akari covered her face, a crimson blush covering her face. "Oh goodness..." She said into her hands.
"Saw anything?!" Satoru asked eagerly.
"DON'T ASK HER THAT!" Geto shouted from the other side of the bathroom.
Akari spun around and dashed back into the lounge.
Geto dried his hands on Satoru's jacket, walking out to find Akari.
Satoru followed close behind, cake in hand.
Geto walked into the lounge to find everyone there with party hats and party blowers in their mouths. Haibara, Kento, Akari, Shoko and Gojo stood in the lounge crowding the place.
Staring tired eyed at the group he sighed. They made too loud a ruckus for 2 am in the morning. Even Nanami clapped and wished him with more vigor than usual.
"I am going back to sleep." He grumbled grabbing Akari's hand and taking her with him sleepily.
Everyone complained, shouting for him to come back. A knock sounded at the door. Nanami left to answer it revealing Geto's neighbor.
"I heard a party..." she said hopefully smiling flirtily at Geto and Nanami.
Akari walked up to her glaring daggers, "You must be hearing things. Check yourself out." She said slamming the door in the woman's face.
Spinning on her heel she directed her icy stare at Geto who looked at her innocently, "I really don't know her." He said putting his hands up.
"You need to move." She said folding her hands crossly.
Suguru wrapped his arms around her comfortingly, placing a kiss on top of her head.
"Cake anyone?" Gojo asked with his mouth stuffed. He dug at the cake and ate straight from it. He made a huge dent in it already.
"So you basically got that thing for yourself?" Shoko said watching him shovel more into his mouth.
"Trust me you don't want any." Geto said slinging an arm over Akari's shoulders casually.
The door rang again this time. Gojo squinted staring hard at the door. Clicking his tongue he walked to the door cake in hand and swung the door open.
The same neighbor stood persistently there grinning widely. She fluffed her hair and put on lipstick.
"Where's birthday boy?" She asked in a husky tone.
Gojo stood staring at her in dismay for a second. "Here." He said tossing the cake into her hands and slamming the door in her face again.
"There's an opening at my place." Haibara added helpfully, talking about rental apartments.
Akari glared at Geto like an angry cat.
The door rang again Akari shot a sharp stare at Geto who hiccoughed. "Seriously no idea love. You should know better." He said placatingly.
She hissed at him and stalked to the door.
Shoko and Haibara started placing bets on who how quick she'd snap.
The very same irritating neighbor stood with the cake in her hand. She snapped and chewed gum brattily staring at Akari up and down.
"What is it now? Can't find your way back to your barn?" She asked sarcastically.
The girl straightened looking at Akari with contempt.
"Let me make this clear for your crumb sized brain. Geto is my future baby daddy. Don't touch him or anyone else from this house."
"I just wanted to know if you had a fork or something for this cake-" the girl began, clearly lying her way through.
"That's no issue. Here." She said smashing the cake into her face and she spun her around and nudged her off to her apartment.
Akari kicked the door close and lifted a shield up for safety.
Shoko, Haibara and Gojo whistled and clapped for her. They cat-called.
Nanami tried to hide his smirk but failed. He lifted his thumb up and grinned at her.
"What was that you called me... future baby daddy huh?" Geto teased lacing his hands around her waist.
"Yeah, got a problem with that?" She asked staring boldly at him.
Geto grinned at her mischievously liking the bold possessive side of her.
"Want an early start with those babies? Because seeing you like this is so hot." He stated staring at her with admiration.
"BOOO get a room!" Satoru yelled.
"You're just jealous that he spends more time with Akari." Shoko quipped.
"That's true. It's like you don't love me anymore. What about all those times we had Suguru... what about us..." Gojo sniffed with a pout making Suguru roll his eyes.
Geto had been living in that apartment for three years now and the twins had grown used to a more social normal life. They were now, eight years old.
They were currently on a school trip where they had a sleepover and would tour a historical site before coming back. They were upset about missing his birthday but equally excited about their field trip.
Suguru assured them that when they got back they'd celebrate it again.
Shoko rummaged through Suguru's fridge and pulled out three pints of ice cream. She shoved a birthday candle into one and lit it. Cupping the flame with her hand she rushed toward him holding it put with a smile.
"Make a wish Geto-san." Nanami said smiling softly.
Nanami remembered how they celebrated his birthday in school. They all teamed together to surprise him.
Akari hugged Geto's side placing a kiss on his cheek, "Happy Birthday my Love." She said with a glowing smile.
Everyone gathered around him and waited. Suguru smiled softly laughing at how cute they all were.
Satoru blew the candle out impatiently, which earned him a cacophony of booing.
"What? He took so long to make a wish I did it for him."
Haibara patted Satoru's back comfortingly, with a sarcastic smirk.
"It's ice-cream, the candle will melt it soon. I take my sweet food very seriously thanks!" He said with a mock frown.
Everyone sat huddled on the balcony with blankets, all pigging out in ice cream.
"So what are your plans for later." Shoko asked lapping her ice-cream up casually as if they weren't up at two in the morning tiring themselves out.
"Sleep." He said with a straight face.
"No, no later. Later what are you doing?" Satoru fished.
"Umm Sugu and I have a date." Akari said softly.
"You see!" Satoru pointed outraged.
"You forgot your first love I see." He continued pointing to himself yelling.
Neighbors from the bottom level yelled at them to be quiet.
"No you shut up!" Satoru yelled back.
That made the person furious, screaming profanities.
"No, up your BUM! Count some sheep!" Satoru yelled back.
Geto looked at Haibara for comfort. "Can I have the number for the owner of that place?" He asked hopefully.
"I have a feeling that I am going to get kicked out soon." He said with a sigh.
Nanami nodded, "Yeah that's not the first complain about Gojo from the neighbors." He said recalling another event where many of them knocked on Suguru's door because Satoru couldn't speak in a confidential tone.
"Come live with me baby boo." Gojo offered blowing kisses at him. "No. I need my own space, besides, I am a father. I have two daughters'." Geto replied frowning at his friend.
Satoru pouted sadly jutting his lower lip out. He grumbled under his breath about how unfair Suguru was being.
Akari yawned nodding off to the sound of chatter around her. Her head rested on Suguru's shoulder as she fell into a deep sleep. Geto noticed her fast asleep and lifted her up. He carried her to his room and placed her on the bed.
"Marry her already."
Geto spun his head to see Satoru stand at the entrance of the room.
"Jokes and all aside Suguru, the kids love her and you're financially capable now. Why not marry her and complete the family. Give the twins a mommy." Satoru said making puppy eyes.
Geto rolled his eyes at his best friend and covered Akari with a blanket.
"I want to, but I can't just yet. I plan to Satoru." He said walking out of the room with his friend.
"What's keeping you!?" Satoru asked exasperatedly, slapping his hands to the sides.
"I need to sort a few things out. Like move, buy my own place. I need to have a good thick nest of savings and while I can do that now I want to save a little more for any shortcomings." He said logically.
Satoru punched his arm softly, "Akari isn't like that! She'll never let you do everything yourself. All she would want is to be with you. Wife her up idiot!" Satoru yelled.
Geto rubbed his neck and stretched his back. "Alright. I am going to look for a house and settle this. That's all for now. I don't want to rush this Satoru, she deserves the world." Geto replied in his soft humble voice.
"You are her world." Satoru pressed, but he wasn't wrong.
Suguru sighed, "I want to have these things when I propose. Her fiance should be someone that has himself in check first, you know..."
Satoru nodded accepting what he said.
"Fine but don't make my sister-in-law wait too long!" He sulked. Geto cocked his head in surprise at his friend, "Ohhh, your sister-in-law huh? And what am I?" Geto asked sassily.
"The man that's making her wait too long!" Satoru yelled out as he walked back to the balcony.
Akari woke at 10 am later on that day in Geto's bed. She stretched like a cat and got out of his bed. She scratched her head wondering how she got there.
"I brought you here, you fell asleep this morning on the balcony." Geto replied stepping onto the room in just a towel having just bathed. Water drops fell every few seconds in a teasing rhythm from his damp hair. Akari stared transfixed. "Morning Birthday boy! Sorry I crashed in your room." She greeted smiling brightly.
"Agg please! I had the luxury of watching a princess sleep in my bed." He countered. She rounded the bed and placed a kiss on his lips smiling at him. "Got any more of those?" He asked sexily.
"Aha right here-" She said when the door rang intterupting them.
Geto sighed thinking it to be Satoru. "Ahhhh Satoru has no limits..." he said shaking his head.
"I'll get it." Akari said leaving the room.
Swinging the door open Akari's face fell seeing the same female fly stand there. She had a trench coat on and had her eyes closed, God knows why.
"Is that a smoulder?" Akari thought.
"You look uglier than ever" Akari greeted.
The female was stunned, her eyes flew open in shock.
Akari held a palm out and with very little force sent her flying back.
She prowled slowly toward the girl who landed on the floor at the opposite wall, each step clicking ominously.
"Why did you think I wouldn't be here just because it's early. Look bitch, he's taken." Akari said.
"I refuse to think he'd date someone like you! I am better." She shrieked.
Akari nodded, "Ahh that's what this is..." She thought.
"Don't you have your string of men? Geto isn't one of many." The girl sneered in response.
"Have you even spoken to him?" Akari asked. The woman shook her head no.
"Then that says enough. You can never be perfect for him. You just see his looks and not his heart. He has one you know." Akari said walking off. The woman tried to fling her heel at Akari who easily side-stepped it without even turning. She shut the door and walked back to his room.
"And to think you were gonna answer the door wearing only that!" Akari shouted angrily. Geto stood quietly pulling on clothes while she turned away.
"I make a habit of checking through the peephole before you know." He supplied.
She grunted folding her arms. This seemed to be a growing problem and seeing her mad and upset gutted him.
"Satoru had a point last night..." He thought.
"Akari?"
"Hng?"
"Let's go house hunting today." He said.
She turned around jumping in excitement.
"You sure!? And you want me to come with?" She asked with hopeful puppy eyes.
"Of course, besides it's going to be where we live when we marry Kari." He said in a comforting voice of reason.
An hour later Geto dropped Akari off at her shared place with Shoko to change and shower quickly. She walked out in ten minutes wearing jeans his T-shirt.
"You know I wondered where that went." He said playfully.
Suguru spoke to a realtor on call and met at his office. They spent the larger part of the day looking at houses and possible futures of theirs. They decided to come back again after taking a few days to think and decide.
Suguru and Akari held hands and swung them gently as they walked to the restaurant they had reservations at.
After a steaming hot dinner of ravioli and cheesecake for dessert, they walked home, Akari resting her head on his shoulder. They discussed the houses that they saw and which ones they liked.
In the end they both agreed on one house in particular. Pulling out his phone he called the realtor and booked a date to view the house again.
"Okay that's done. Now we can spend the night relaxing. What do you wanna do now?" He asked smiling at her.
Akari batted her lashes and smiled dreamily at him, rubbing herself like a cat on him.
"I hope this comes off properly with no stain by tomorrow." He said sitting in his lounge twenty minutes later.
"It will, now stay still!" She scolded, frowning.
Geto sat with glittery purple nail polish on his hands while she tried to recreated a fancy updo with his hair she saw online.
She slipped in some Bobby pins to hold the hair in place.
"That hurts." He said wincing.
"Shush!" She scolded.
"Kari I will cut my hair if you don't tell me what you're doing." He threatened knowing her weak point.
"The hell you will!" She snapped.
She passed her phone to him showing him the video of the hairstyle she tried.
"Wow, if you pull this off I'll be slaying." He said sarcastically.
Ignoring him she continued to arrange his hair.
"All done!" She exclaimed in a flourish.
Taking a picture she showed him the back of his head.
"If your hair was a tad longer it would have looked even better." She pouted coming round the sofa to sit on his lap.
The door rang ominously, often as it did in his place.
Getting up to answer it he found Satoru holding a cake box in his hand.
Satoru stared in wonder at his friend and then after a beat said, "Hey Akari have you seen Suguru around?"
Suguru flipped him a middle finger with a dry smile and grabbed the box from him entering his apartment again.
"Heeyyy!" Satoru yelled out into the house.
"I got you a proper cake seeing as the other one well..." He trailed off.
The three of them sat down to have cake and tea, talking about the houses they saw and what they thought.
Gojo left a little later on that night waving to them as he left with pink nail polish glittering on his fingers.
Akari smiled thinking about what Gojo said to her while she did his nails.
"By the way I always hang around Geto still just in case. I will continue to be his family no matter what. So while I try not to be a third wheel. I want him to know he's never alone." He said to her hoping she'd excuse him for all his intrusions.
"I understand. Thank you for being there for him. Even before I came into his life. You'll always be his first family Gojo, and that's just perfect." She said back smiling.
"I like having you around anyway. It's fun, why should it be any different." She shrugged after a beat.
Gojo left with one thought in his mind, "Yep she's perfect for him. Couldn't get better for my Suguru."
The next day Suguru and Akari viewed the house they liked again and put an offer through. In the end Akari bullied Suguru into letting her go fifty-fifty on the payment.
"We'll be living together. It's only fair." She said.
The twins came back from their trip all chatter and excitement. By now they had grown used to being around others thanks to their Geto-san.
Arriving home they unpacked their bags and met with Geto in the kitchen.
"I have some news for you girls." He said smiling excitedly...

A/n: Hello 👋
Thanks for reading ♥
I did a little time skip here and made it that they had lived in that apartment for 3 years.
I added alot of the pest neighbor, to show the reality and hardships of couples. Someone always will interfere and how trusting and being faithful is the anchor such a situation.
Hope this one flowed well, had some brain freeze for this one.
Will edit it properly soon.
