The best laid plans always had a way of falling apart at the most inconvenient times. Said inconvenient time for Bethany was when she arrived at the luxury resort after a seven-hour flight with two layovers. All she wanted to do was check in and take a well-deserved rest since every part of her was exhausted. However, she couldn't do that. The entryway to the hotel was as congested as a stuffy nose; paparazzi holding their cameras up over their heads in an attempt to snap a picture of someone.

"You've got to be freaking kidding me," groaned Bethany as she watched the scene before her. "Out of all the hotels in the world, why did this have to happen here?"

Bethany gripped the handle of her luggage as she tried once more to enter the entryway to no avail. The moment she even tried to put a toe inside, she was greeted by a very unpleasant elbow to the chest. She dragged her luggage behind her as she walked away from the entrance fuming. Bethany figured there must be a back entrance to the building where she could hopefully flag someone down to let her in.

"I pay all this money and save up this time off to come to this luxury hotel to relax and I can't even check in," muttered Bethany as her luggage clicked over the pebble-stoned pathway as she made her way towards the back of the elegant building. A slight breeze wafted through the air then, rustling the palm leaves of the trees surrounding her.

She eventually rounded the building and found the back door where unfortunately no one was present. She figured that might happen. Everyone on staff at the hotel was probably off catering to whatever big wig had clogged up the hotel lobby.

Sighing in frustration, Bethany turned from the back door to look at the view behind her. Across the asphalt parking lot where cars were randomly parked about, she noticed the beach. A few beachgoers were currently walking about, enjoying the late afternoon sun and surf.

'I may as well go enjoy the beach too. It's the only way I'll probably relax for the foreseeable future,' thought Bethany.

Turning, she pushed the handle of her luggage back down inside it before picking it up by the handle and walking across the parking lot. The moment her sneakered feet hit the sand, she couldn't help but to smile. She plopped her luggage bag down into the sand at her feet before taking off her sneakers and socks, feeling the sand squish and curl underneath her feet.

"Vacation..." she said with a sigh. A smile slipped across her face as her eyes turned towards the lazy blue ocean before her.

Not daring to venture too far from her luggage for fear of it being stolen, Bethany took a few steps forward from where she was standing, trying to let herself find peace in the midst of this relaxing atmosphere. She was trying to let the irritation go, seeing as she had more than enough of her share of that at home. Closing her eyes, she took a deep breath or two, trying to make herself at one with this place.

'This is what you've been dreaming of since you were little,' she told herself. 'It'll all work out and be worth it. Just you wait and see.'

"I think the point of coming to a beach is to admire the view."

The sudden appearance of a voice startled Bethany out of her thoughts. She opened her eyes to turn and look at the man that now stood alongside her. He didn't look as if he was beach ready. He was wearing dark blue jeans and a matching jean jacket over a white t-shirt. A black bucket hat was crammed on his mess of brown hair and tinted sunglasses hid his eyes.

"And what business is it of yours how I choose to enjoy my vacation?"

A small smirk flickered across his lips as he tucked his hands in his jean pockets, turning his head from her to look out towards the water.

"Just was making an observation is all."

"Well keep them to yourself. I'm already in a mood so don't make it worse."

"Jilted or something?"

"Excuse you!"

The man chuckled as he turned back to look at her to see that her cheeks were rosy from being so offended by his statement.

"Save the deductions for a real detective because you suck."

"I'm not usually told that," he said with a small chuckle.

"That's too bad because you do!"

He watched as she turned away from him to kick the sand with her bare foot. Before he could ask the real reason for her mood, he noticed a man dressed in a black jacket scouring the parking lot.

"I need to go for now," he said. "It was nice to meet you. I think."

"Not so sure the feeling is mutual," she replied as he chuckled, walking back towards the parking lot.

Bethany turned her back on the man as soon as he walked off towards the parking lot. She sincerely hoped that he wasn't staying in the hotel because she knew that it would just make her vacation worse. She escaped here to be rid of irritations, not find new ones.

The man meanwhile made his way through the parking lot as the man in the black jacket continued to look frantically about the parking lot. The moment the black jacket man's eyes landed on him as he approached, he immediately seemed to calm down.

"Mr. Lee, you're supposed to stay in the vehicle until we finish signing you in."

"I'm sorry. I couldn't help it. It's such a beautiful day and the beach is right there."

The man in the black jacket rolled his eyes as he reached out and grabbed him by the arm.

"Come along, Mr. Lee. It's time to get you sorted in your room and away from the paparazzi."

Mr. Lee nodded, turning his head to look back at the beach he had left behind and the wild woman who had suddenly made his vacation more interesting.
