They had all stayed up because Mari had found her radio. She had said they could play music so, Mari was currently starting it. They all started to shout the lyrics or dance moves they were doing making Josie smile to herself.

Because yeah it sucked that they were out in the middle of the woods, but they were trying to make the best out of it. It was a sweet moment for all of them. That was onto the music died out. "Goddammit," Van cursed and went over to it. "What happened?" Jackie asked her. "I don't know," She answered as she hit it.

"Has hitting something ever fixed it?" Van asked looking around at everyone. "Maybe trying blowing on it?" Mari suggested, though it seemed like a question. Van blew on it but nothing happened. Then creaking from upstairs was heard. "Uh, the fuck was that?"

Josie looked to her sister at that. "Hey, you heard it too?" Lottie slightly mumble looking around, then looking at Josie who looked to her. Josie nodded and squeezed her hand. "Is anybody up there?" Rosalia asked, seeming unsure.

"It was probably just a branch," Tai told them. Though Josie wasn't sure on that. "Inside, on the floor?" Mari questioned. "What if it's...him?" Mari asked, most likely referring to the corpse they found up there. "What, the dead guy?" Shauna asked, looking at Mari like she was stupid.

"Um, yeah," Mari stated like it was obvious. "You know what it probably was?" Josie turned her head to Nat when hearing her voice. "The dead guy's missing fingers trying to find their way home," Nat stated making some shout at her as she smiled to herself.

"You really have no encourage them?" Tai questioned the blonde making her hide a laugh. "You got to admit, it didn't sound like it was on the roof," Josie agreed with them that it didn't sound like it was from the roof.

"Fine, then it was a rat, or a raccoon, or something, I don't know, it–" Jackie tried to start saying things that it could be but then Lottie shushed her. "Oh my god," Taissa mumbled to herself. "Listen," Lottie told them all as she started up at the floor making everyone look up.

"Well, I don't hear it now!" Mari shouted, "See?" Tai pointed out. And before anyone else could say anything coach Ben interrupted, "All right, all right. You know what I think it was? I think the ghost decided it was time to get some sleep. And we should probably do the same, yeah?"

Josie was helping pick up the fire wood with Nat and Tai when she heard Jackie walk out. She sent a look to her sister and carried some fire wood over to the fire."Hey, bloody soldiers on the left
and breakfast on the right. Okay? Don't mess them up like Travis did," Akilah told Jackie pointing to Travis at the last part.

"Okay, you guys are disgusting," Travis commented before walking off making akilah tell him to shut up."How about getting some more water?" Breakfast isn't going anywhere," Mari didn't give Jackie a choice. She handed the bucket to Jackie making the girl walk to the lake.

2022

Josette stared at the card she was given that held the number to Jessica Roberts. All she had to do was tell the truth. She needed to tell the truth. She had lied about what happened for so long. She'd stayed quiet, she would decline interviews. She wouldn't even tell her parents what happened.

"Hey, what are you doing?" The sound of Rosalia's voice was heard, making her jump. Josette quickly grabbed the crab and turned to Rosalia, hiding the card behind her back. "Um, nothing. Why?" She went a smile, lying to the woman.

"Okay... stop being weird." Rosalia let out an awkward laugh as she turned away. Josette always felt unsettled around Halloween. Maybe that was why she felt the need to call Jessica Roberts and tell the truth. Maybe that's why she felt that something was happening.

1996

Josie looked up once again when hearing Jackie and saw her place the water down. "Fuck." She was being oddly dramatic.. she looked over to see Van's face, she obviously had found it funny. "Hey, need a hand?" Shauna asked when she walked over to Jackie."No, it's okay. I got it. Why are you so chipper?.Don't you have a blood sacrifice
between your legs like the rest of us?" Though Josie also kinda wonder the same thing, it wasn't her main thought.

She was thinking about where Lottie had wonder over to instead. She hadn't really seen the girl at all this morning."Um, I'm late this month. We were in a plane crash– it's probably just stress." She quickly explained, no one had thought it was anything else."Well, lucky you're a virgin or we'd really have to worry. "

Jackie had laughed at her own joke, no one else did. "Anyway, enjoy it while it lasts I guess. This rags situation is a fucking horror show." Jackie picked the bucket of water up again, bringing it closer to everyone.

Rosalia and Jackie had ran off. The two needed a break, plus this finally gave Rosalia a chance to say something. "Rosalia, why are we even out here?" Jackie finally spoke up, making the girl stop and look to her. "I need to tell you something, but you can't like... freak out on me, please?"

Jackie titled her head at that, but nodded. Rosalia nodded back at that, and took a deep breath. "Okay, um,.. I get it, you're Josie's sister and with Jeff so I really shouldn't be doing this, but we're in the middle of the fucking woods and I'm tired of lying!" Jackie started to feel like she had some type of feeling on what Rosalia meant... but she was still confused. "Lia, what are you saying?"

She dropped Jackie's hands at that. "I really really like you. I don't think Jeff deserves you and I'm so jealous because I think I do." Before she could continue, or get another word out, Jackie grabbed her face and kissed her. It took a moment for Rosalia to pull away, but when she did she really looked shocked.

"Maybe you're right."

2022

Josie still had Rosalia staying at her house. She didn't mind it, she really didn't care. Though it was still awkward between the two. "How come you don't have any candy?" Speak of the devil and she shall show. "I don't celebrate Halloween, Rosalia." She simply stated, shaking her head as she looked through her mail. It was kinda stupid, she loved the holiday as a kid. Now it just freaked her out and scared her. She was a full grown adult, that was stupid.

"What do you mean you don't celebrate Halloween? Its your favorite holiday." She shook head again, placing the mail down and looking up at her.

"It was my favorite. I prefer Christmas a lot more now." She didn't even have anyone to celebrate it with. What was she saying?

They heard Mari scream from the cabin and saw her run out, screaming to get it off her, everyone looked up but Shauna was the only one to get up her seat and a couple others walked over with her. "What's going on? Hey, hang on." Akilah walked over too, Mari once again saying to get it off. "What, get what off?"

"I don't know! I was– I was standing under the trapped door and something crawled under the shirt!" Rosalia didn't even see anything from where she was standing. Shauna and Akiliah weren't finding anything either. "It's fine. Mari, there's nothing there." Shauna told the girl making Mari look around.

"Must have been the ghost." Tai stated making Rosalia sniffle a laugh and Josie kicked at her foot. "Don't say that." Mari told her, and Josie gave Rosalia a look, telling her not to say anything.

"Okay, you guys, I just had a brainstorm." Jackie spoke up when she walked over. "We should have a seance." Josie never believed in that stuff, she did it once when Van, Nat and Rosalia were staying over and Nat moved it with her hand to prank the three. It was stupid, funny, but really stupid.

She heard Tai let out a chuckle. "That's a terrible idea. Also, we're not in middle school." She reminded at the last part and Josie and Rosalia finally got up, walking to the group. "But remember how fun that shit used to be?" Josie titled her head at Jackie saying it was fun. "Besides, maybe if we can laugh about this, then it would help." She did kinda have a point on that.

"The occult is no laughing matter." Laura Lee spoke up, making Jackie look to her. "It's not the occult, Laura Lee. It's a game. Come on, Shauna. Tell them, it'll be fun." She looked to Shauna at that who seemed hesitate. "Well it's not like we have anything better to do... and maybe this dead guy can give us some life advice." Half of them laughed at Shauna's joke.

"I mean, I'm up for it." Rosalia spoke up too making Jackie look at her and smile which made Josie confused... what was going on with them? "So, it's settled. Tonight, the attic. We make contact." Once again, everyone laughed at that.

It took a moment until Josie spoke up. "Yeah... I'm gonna go look for Lottie, tell her what's happening." She spoke quickly before walking off.

1996

They were all in the attic now, at least most of them. All of them but Tai, Laura Lee, Javi and coach Ben, coach couldn't get up to the attic because of his leg and Travis thought it would be better if Javi wasn't involved in this. While Laura Lee didn't believe in this stuff and didn't find it funny, Tai just thought it was stupid and a waste of time.

Jackie had a bowl of some red liquid, wiping that on Shauna's forehead who had her eyes covered. "O keeper of this wild and hidden place... we anoint ourselveswith blood and earth." Josie couldn't help but laugh at that, quickly covering it up as a cough.

She walked over to Travis, handing it him but he just gave her a look. "It's just dirt and deer blood. Classic witch recipe, relax." Josie was wondering on how Jackie knew that though, she wasn't into that stuff. Travis took the bowl, dipping his finger in and wiping some on his forehead before handing it to Nat.

Jackie lifted up her hands, Misty doing the same. "O spirit, we offer our sister as your instrument. Come to us and weak your peace." Jackie kept her hands up still, even after she finished her sentence. "It is I, Jacques." A couple laughs were let out at Shauna just using her regular voice.

She cleared her throat, saying the name again with a deeper voice. Josie let out a quiet chuckle and took the bowl once she was handed it. "Ask your questions. The pendulum will answer them." She kept quiet as she put and x mark on her forehead with the liquid and then handed it to Lottie.

"Dear dead hunter guy." Van spoke up, being the first to ask something. "Did O.J do it?" Most girls laughed at Van's question, Josie included. "Come on guys, real questions." Jackie spoke up, obviously annoyed. It was just a joke, none of it was real. She didn't know why it mattered so much.

"The veil is thin between our two planes. Ask what is in your heart." Shauna spoke, ignoring Van's question. She was still speaking with the deep voice. "I'll go." Mari spoke up before anyone else could. "Is principal Berzonsky screwing Ms. DeWine?" No one ever found out who started that rumor, they didn't even know if it was true but it was still funny.

The knife moved in a circle for a moment. "It is certain." They all laughed again at that answer. "Hunter guy!" Akilah spoke up once she stopped laughing. "If we hadn't crashed, would we have won nationals?" Of course they would have won. They were amazing. Shauna titled her head, the knife just rocking back and forth. "Dude..." Van spoke up, booing at the answer.

Josie was quiet for a second before speaking up. "Okay, I wanna go." She finally said something, moving her hair behind her shoulders. "Old cabin man, will I ever find out if Nat has good weed or if it's always just shitty?" Nat let out a scoff at that one, throwing a old small branch that was left in the attic at her. "Stop calling it shitty, Josette!"

The rest of the girls let out laughs at that while Shauna answered with a simple yes. Someone else asking another question, Josie not hearing it this time. "They're obviously faking, you really need a ghost to tell you that?" Nat stated when laughing died down when they saw Javi sit down between Travis and the blonde. "I thought I told you to stay down stairs." Javi dodged his question while the girls continued to talk.

"Well honey you're mom and I are splitting up, but don't worry because your tits are gonna look amazing!" Van's voice was heard making her finally realize what they were talking about. "Okay, guys, guys focus. Next question." Jackie spoke up and looked to Misty, seeing if she wanted to go.

"Um.. Dear spirt, I need to know the truth. Does the person I like like me back?" It went silent at that question, the knife going in a circle, meaning the answer was yes. Someone whistled at that and the others laughed. "Okay, next question!" Javi raised his hand at that and they all nodded, giving him the free to say it. "Are we all gonna die out here?"

Now it was... awkward. Josie all the sudden felt cold, unsure of what to say. The knife moved in a eight form. "Okay, an eight? What's that supposed to mean?" Van spoke up, because Shauna hadn't did that once. "It's not an eight, it's an infinity." Mari corrected the ginger. "Yeah, okay, Atisolie." Josie looked to Lottie for a second, seeing she was staring at the window.

Though when Josie looked to it, she didn't see anything. All the sudden Lottie started screaming making everyone freak out and the window opened. The candle blew out making Mari who had the matches as Van closed the window and Josie quickly went to Lottie, most of them did. "Guys, somethings really wrong with her."

"No shit, Van!" Josie slightly snapped though she didn't mean too, she was worried. "Lot, honey, what's wrong? What happened?" She tried to ask, holding onto the girls shoulders, she didn't care if the girls started to question anymore. "Misty, what did we do?" Van looked over at her, trying to get help. "It wants!" Lottie shouted, she didn't know what she meant.

"Lottie, I swear to God if you're fucking with us..." Mari started but Rosalia quickly finished for her. "It's really not funny if you are!" Which made Josie give her a look, something was really wrong. Lottie wouldn't pull this kinda joke on Josie. And if she did, she would've told Josie. "I think she's like, possessed or like–" Someone tried to start but Shaunad stopped her.

"Listen, Lottie. Lottie, sweetie what's going on? What is it?" She tried not to get jealous at the nickname Shauna used. It wasn't the time for her to be jealous. "More like what does it what?" Akilah restated but Lottie just continued to cry and it worried Josie even more. "Hungry." She stopped the crying, instead starting to laugh.

Josie looked back to the rest of them, now seeing Tai was also up here. "Sweetie, you're scaring us. Just talk to us? What do you mean?" Josie tried again once she turned back to Lottie. Though Lottie didn't answer her, instead she turned to Shauna. "It's in you already." Which made Shauna quickly rip away from her grip.

None of them knew what that meant, it freaked Josie out even more. "Lottie, knock it off. This isn't a game." Tai finally spoke up, and then Lottie started speaking French which made Josie slowly back up. She didn't understand what she was saying. "Is that French?" Van and Rosalia questioned at the same time. "Since when does Lottie speak French?"

"Jackie, wasn't she in your class?" Shauna looked to Jackie at that, but Josie knew that wouldn't be any help. "She's terrible at French." Josie spoke up, shaking her head. "Well, what's she saying?" Mari spoke in a rush, looking to Jackie. "I don't know, I suck at French too!"

"Well dammit, Jackie try not too!" Van yelled at the girl. Josie really wish she ha taken French instead of Spanish so she could at least understand a little of what her girlfriend was saying. Lottie just kept repeating it. "He.. No, it! It wants something... uh, blood? I think she's saying blood."

"Not the word I want to be hearing right now!" Mari spoke in a panic as Lottie got ho making Josie do the same. She was walking to the window. "Shit. More blood stuff? I don't know!" Jackie told them all which frustrated Josie. "Here? She's saying here!"

"There's blood where, Lottie?" Van asked at that. "Do you really have to be encouraging her right now, Van?" Tai sounded annoyed when she spoke up making Van look over at her and only held up a finger. "Blood here, or out there?" Van asked again but they didn't receive an answer. Lottie just kept speaking French, to which no one understood. "You must spill blood, or else..." She didn't continue. Jackie asked what she had meant and there was no answer.

Josie went to grab Lottie, but before she could Lottie slammed her head against the window making the girl gasp and quickly grab ahold of her. It was like at that, Lottie snapped out of it. Once she saw the blood on her head, she started screaming again. She fell against the floor making Akilah, Shauna, Van and Josie sit down and try to calm her down. "Lottie, please just call down!" Josie tried but Lottie continued to scream.

"The power of Christ compels you!" Josie looked over to see Laura Lee, with her bible. Before she could say anything, Laura Lee ran closer to them. "Be gone Staten!" Nothing happened, Lottie didn't stop screaming. "Lottie! Lottie, stop!" Laura Lee quickly panicked threw it at Lottie which made her stop.

"Ow! What the hell, Laura Lee?" Lottie looked over to the blonde which quickly made Josie grab ahold of her face, trying to make sure the cut wasn't too deep.

"Seriously? What the mother fuck just happened?"

Josie had dragged Lottie off, once they had patched her cut up. "Josie, please... I'm fine. I just wanna rest." She nodded at that, but she stopped and held onto her hand, squeezing it. "What was that? I know it wasn't some sick prank. But please just tell me you know what it was. You– you scared me. I'm worried. Is it because your out of your meds? Have you not been taking them?"

Lottie quickly took her hands away Josie at the last part."Wow. Okay, you think I haven't taken them?" She shouldn't have said that. She messed up on saying that."No, Lottie that's not what I meant! I just know sometimes you haven't and it's... Please just tell you've been taking them."

"Of course I am."

2022

Josie looked down at he phone when she saw Taissa Turner calling. She let out a sigh before answering it. "What's wrong, Tai?" She quickly spoke up, going into her room and closing the door, away from Rosalia.

"I'm with Nat, I just called Shauna but you need to get here fast." Since when was Nat out of rehab? She decided not to question that part.

"What the hell happened, Tai." She leaned back against the door.

"Travis is dead. Somethings going on. Bring Rosalia too." The call went dead at that, before she could even answer her.
