Chapter 25 - Casual fluff

The next day in school I started off with a very positive attitude. I don't know what exactly has gotten into me, but although I was reliving the craziest and most disturbing part of me life, I haven't felt this great in two years. Might be his influence, eh?

May, Dawn and I just said our goodbyes since they had class now, but my luck just really got me a free period, because my teacher has a doctors appointment.

I hope she's fine tho.

I was walking towards the entrance of the school, since Ash and I decided to meet up there, but before I could reach the entrance, a big force suddenly bumped into my back, just as I felt to hands grabbing my shoulders to prevent me from falling.

"Ayeee Sere!"

Ash. I turned my head at him, smiling at his goofiness just to be proven by the typical Ketchum-Toothy-Grin. His eyes slowly averted to my neck, the corner of his lips inching closer now forming a pout. "Aw man, why did you cover it up?"

"I can't just walk around with a bruise on my neck. What would people think? Oh my god what would Miette think? Oh my god Palermo is gonna kill me." I widened my eyes in shock, going through all the possibilities that were on the table.

Very possible possibility.

"But we're at school! Only shows people you already belong to someone. I think that's great." he still pouted. "I don't belong to you, I belong to myself. Besides, I wouldn't wanna date anyone anyway."

"You're no fun. You're dating me tho."

"Well, if I'm no fun ,why did you ask me out?"

"Because I wanted you to be mine~" he cooed as I rolled my eyes. "Keep dreaming, Ketchum." I spoke, proud of my comeback, believing to have defeated his pride. How could I be naïve enough to forget that he's the King of comebacks?

"Well Serena, if you really give no fucks, why did you cover it up?"

I didn't say anything, instead, I just got out of his grip and started walking a little faster. "H-Hey where are you going?" he yelled behind me, trying to catch up with my tempo.

"I'm hungry!"

————————

"If you would've said you were thirsty this day would've taken a whole 'nother route."

"Oh, shut up."

Ash and I were currently sitting in a random little diner not far from school. I've been here a few times before, but the last time I've been here was many months ago. I don't even remember what exactly I ordered. Right now I just really wanted something to munch on, so I ended up ordering the 'Fiesta-Fries', just fries with guacamole and tomatoes, while Ash went for the Chili-Cheese fries.

The name speaks for itself.

"Hey Ash."

"Hmm?"

"Can I ask you something?"

"I suppose you just did, princess."

The corner of his lips curled up in a smirk. That teasing little smirk of his that could get any girl to kneel for him. That smirk that shows that he just knows what to do to get what he wants, almost in a manipulative way, but you couldn't be mad. Funny that only a few face muscles used could have such an impact.

"Tell me when I'm supposed to laugh, okay?" I responded as he broke out in a slight chuckle. "Quite the charmer, as always."

"Anyways, can I?"

"Sure. Let's see what's up in that pretty little head of yours."

I rolled my eyes playfully before continuing. I was about to ask something, that would put me in the most vulnerable place I have been in a long time. This question was not only going to hurt my pride and ego, but the result of the conversation could really harm my dignity and the confidence I have left for myself. This was an all-in situation. This was a two paths situation. Everything or nothing. This was about Life and Death.

"Ash,"

"Uhuh?"

",I've been thinking,"

"I'm sure you have, princess."

",thinking about you."

"Oh, I feel flattered!"

"Ash?"

"Serena?"

"..."

"..."

"Can I stay over?"

———Flashback———

"Serena Yvonne! Where have you been?" Palermo almost yelled, but being the fine lady she was, she kept the tone she wished to talk in locked away, speaking only loudly instead. The pressure that she kept her energy in was to hear regardless.

"I was at Dawn's. She was absent today. I only delivered her homework." I lied right in Palermo's face. I actually just came back from Ash's after he basically bit my skin off of my body.

"Really? Is that so?" she walked closer to me, as she than suddenly grabbed my chin quite forcefully and lifted it up. "I don't recall you bruising up your neck this heavily. Did you walk into a door with your neck? Or did you, by any chance, fall on your neck? How stupid do you think I am, Yvonne?"

"L-Look Palermo, it's really not-"

"Save it! You have three minutes to get your necessities and then you're out for a week, you hear me?!" she spoke, her voice dripping hot venom in contrast to her cold expression. Elsa would be quaking.

"P-Palermo, I'm so-"

"Tik tok tik tok tik tok." she spoke and I realized there's no point in trying to convince her. I ran into my room and got sum clothes for school, some stuff from my bathroom that I didn't even pay attention to, since all I did was reach out and grab the first thing to fall into my hand and ran out of the house, of course, using the back door.

Now where to stay?

———Present———

"Your aunt is a bitch." Ash said as he frowned at my story with a hint of disgust tinted in his auburn eyes. "And of course you're always welcome to stay over."

"Thanks a lot. I'd stay over at May's or Dawn's but Dawn is grounded and I've stayed over at May's too often. Her mom's a sweetheart, I didn't wanna be an inconvenience to anyone."

"Well, princess, I'd love to have you as my inconvenience."

"Well, I guess today is my lucky day then." I smiled at him and I was glad to find him return my gesture. "You betcha."

The waitress then came over with our fries and placed them down. Talking with Ash, I almost forgot how hungry I actually was. Ash soon broke the silence of only a few seconds, as he started talking while chewing, and in any other case this would've grossed the love of god out of me, but I couldn't help but think he was adorable.

"Ykno... your aunt is... really... one old hag..." he spoke and I giggled at his... well him. "I know. I'm glad Miette wasn't around tho. That would have been an inconvenience."

"You just love to use 'inconvenience', don't you?"

"Awe, you know me so well!" I sarcastically spoke as Ash let out a heartwarming laugh. His contagious smile turned out to make me laugh along with him.

"Miette is one dumb bitch. Legit can't even recall what was so thrilling about her. I must've been drunk around her too much." he rolled his eyes and I couldn't help but grin at his inner gossip queen. Almost reminded me of Dawn. Her sass is one of the many things I love about her, so seeing Ash just as sassy made me feel at ease.

After some time of talking and gossiping we didn't realize how fast time had passed and that we accidentally skipped literature class. Another thing we didn't notice was the bill on the table.

"Alright princess, you wait outside imma pay real quick." he said as he took his money out.

"Wha- No Ash it's fine. I'll pay for myself."

Just as I was about to take my purse out, Ash interrupted me again:

"Princess, it's fine. Besides, what kind of guy would I be if I took a pretty girl on a date and expected her to pay?"
