You Have To Say That Don't You?
The week flew by. That's all I can say.
I only had to help when shows were being broadcast, and everyone was having a week long break before returning to broadcast The Rolling Stones to the world, through a TV show that is.
Speaking of Rolling Stones, I'd listened to their record that I'd bought.
I loved it!
I mean the singer, Mick Jagger, I-I don't know what to say. He is maybe the most beautiful guy I ever saw. And their music, my goodness, I love them. I love their music, their look. I guess you could say I was hooked, in a way.
For about the tenth time that night, I replayed the record and sat back, thinking. I got to see these guys perform live! I'd actually get to talk to them, I think. Maybe I could show them to their dressing rooms and such. Oh, this was going to be fun, I had a feeling in my bones.

On the evening where I had to return to work, it was cloudy. And It was a Tuesday. The sky was clouded over and I walked along the road.
I was very nervous, stopping every so second to pat my bangs and clutch the clipboard that I always bring to work.
As I walked down the street to the studio, I saw a small group of girls standing outside, waving signs. I frowned somewhat and wandered closer.
"What's going on here?"
The girls looked at me and held their signs higher.
Oh.
These signs were for the Stones;
I LOVE YOU STONES!
WE WANT THE STONES
I LOVE YOU MICK
KEITH KEITH KEITH
CHARLIE AND BILL!
BEAUTIFUL BRIAN JONES!
Wow, I guess they were popular after all...VERY popular I might add. I shrugged and went in through the doors to go talk to Ed.
As soon as Mr. Sullivan saw me, he rushed up and said in a hurry;
"Ruby! I need you to go and prep talk The Stones, you know, lead them to the dressing rooms and stuff. I nodded my head up a down very quickly and was shoved into someone.
"Oh, I'm sorry!" a British voice said in my ear. I backed up and found myself looking into the eyes of Mick Jagger.
"A-a-I-Me, I am sorry, sorry"
The words came tumbling out of my mouth and I blushed, looking down.
Mick smiled and chuckled a bit, while the other Stones appeared behind him. Keith first, he had black hair and had a guitar slung over his shoulder. Bill and Charlie came next, Charlie was the drummer and had two drumsticks in one of his hands. Bill had a bass guitar in both his hands and was whispering quietly to Keith.
Then I saw Brian.
Long shoulder length blond hair. Bright green eyes. Guitar slung over shoulder.
My eyes widened and I blinked, but he didn't look up. He was focused on his shoes.
"My name is Mick Jagger"
I pulled my eyes from Brian and shook Mick's hand.
"Pleased to meet you, Mick"
He smiled
"My names R-Ruby"
Why the heck was I stuttering? That's certainly new.
"I'll be showing you to your dressing rooms"
My mouth was on auto-pilot, I always showed the new acts around, asking standard questions;
How are you feeling?
What songs are you going to play?
Mr. Sullivan welcomes you.
I started walking, and they followed behind me. Here we go;
"So, how are you guys feeling?"
"Fine"
Mick answered that one.
"What songs are you going to play?"
"Around And Around and Time Is On My Side"
Keith, I think.
"Well, Mr. Sullivan welcomes you to the show"
I turn around and smile at the group while I push open the door to their dressing room.
"Here you are, dressing room extraordinaire" I say with a flourish of my hands.
I follow them in and give them a prep talk.
I explain the rules and guidelines to the show. I give them tips. When I've finished, I glance back down at my clipboard and pretend to study the type-written letters.
"You have to say that don't you?"
What a beautiful voice, I look up and see Brian Jones smiling as he looks back down at his guitar, not meeting my eyes.
"Ya, actually, it kinda gets boring after a while"
I smile to myself and watch The Stones prepare.
Mick sits down beside me and looks back awkwardly. He scratches his neck and says hi.
"Hello" I reply with a smile, and more blushing. He looks over and smiles back, lowering his hand.
"I heard from Mr. Sullivan that you never heard us before"
Mick says as he catches my eye.
"That's true" I say, "but I bought one of your records"
He nods and drinks a bit of water from a nearby cup.
"What's up with the cover?"
I couldn't help myself, I was curious.
"Well..."
He brings the cup down and places it on the floor, he looks at me, and his cheeks are tinged with pink.
Mick Jagger...blushing?
Huh.
"It actually wasn't our idea, the photographer said tha-"
I cut him off with my laughing, I don't know why I was laughing. But the prospect of them not bring able to pick what should go on the front of THEIR album would have probably make then mad right? Hence the grouchy expressions!
"What?" Mick says with a funny little smile. I look up, everyone is staring at me. I wipe my eyes and try to speak;
"I-I *laughs* I get it now!"
I sit back and smile to myself, I have no idea why I think this is so funny, which makes it all the more funnier!
Suddenly I see the time and remember that we have a show to do.
"Shit!"
I smack my forehead and stand up, opening the door.
"What's wrong?" Brian asks and then he, too, seems to remember as well.
"Right, the show"
