Dance, Dance, Dance

Again, it seemed as if I was forgotten in Mick's eyes as soon as Marianne showed up. They were laughing, talking, having fun. We'd switched seats so that Mick and Marianne would face each other, so that left me..facing Brian.
He picked quietly at his food and I took a sip of my water, swishing it around and around in the glass. Brian looked up and smiled. I noticed his Adam's apple bobbing as he swallowed, and I took another sip.
"So," he started, "what's up?"
I shrugged a shoulder, considering.
"Not much" I decided on, throwing a glance at the other half of the restaurant booth. Mick smiled as Marianne told some tale involving elephants and the Amazon. He looked over as well.
"Well, aren't we quite the opposite four?"
"What?" I looked up, raising an eyebrow.
"Just look at them," he smiled, "they seem pretty..content
"More then content, I'd say" I put my utensils down on the plate and sat back, looking up at the ceiling.
When I brought my eyes back down, Brian was staring straight at me. I felt my cheeks go red, so I looked over at Mick and Marianne. Well, I looked, but all that was there was a note and some cash. "When did that happen?" I asked absently, picking up the note and examining it. It just said how they had to rush because Marianne had made plans and then 'conveniently' invited Mick along, because she'd 'conveniently' had an extra ticket.
"They just left, pretty quietly, I might add" Brian said as he scooted out of the booth, he offered me his hand and I looked from it to him. Then I slid out of the booth myself, putting some money on the table, as well.
Brian awkwardly shoved his hands in his pockets and raised his eyebrows at me. I shrugged a shoulder again and strode forward. I needed to shield myself from romance for a while. Both Mick and Brian.
Although, I'm pretty sure that Mick and Marianne are together now.
Brian hurried to catch up with me and matched my steps.
We walked in silence for a bit and I looked just about everywhere but at his blond head.
The sky was dark, but very pretty, you could see almost all the stars. There were lights strung up and I watched as I crowd gathered at a club. I'd never really been to one, I never really thought about it being..fun.
"Hey, you there?" Brian asked while he looked where I was looking.
I shrugged, "I guess so, I'm just confused" and sad, and confused confused confused. Why does Brian care? Why did Mick care about getting with me if he liked Marianne? Why in the world is there so much drama?
"Why are you confused, love?" he asked as he stuck his hands deep in his pockets.
"Just life, I guess" I replied quietly, kicking a small stone. The stone rolled away. Rolling Stone.
We neared the club with lights and I found myself walking a bit closer to Brian. "Do you want to go in, Ruby?" He had to shout a bit over the talking crowd, I nodded a yes. Well, tonight, I try new things. Firstly, went on a date with Mick Jagger, got interrupted by my lovely cousin, Marianne, got doubly interrupted by Brian Jones, am now walking down the street into a club with a musician. Wow.
Brian took my hand as the crowd thickened, pulling me through the doors quickly.
We managed to find a small table that sat facing the round stage.
"Thirsty?" He asked as we settled back in the chairs. "No" I shook my head slightly and looked on as a band set up loudly. One of the drums fell and bonked loudly on the stage. The singer turned around abruptly and picked up the drum, he turned it around before giving it back to the drummer. The guitarists were tuning up and drinking at the same time.
"Reminds me of us" Brian said with a small glance over at me.
I turned to face him.
"Us?"
"Well, The Rolling Stones" he replied, turning to face me as well.
I nodded, because I didn't really know what to say next.
"This was where we first preformed so I should know"
"Really?" I looked around, impressed.
"Marquee Club, 1962" he smiled then, and he didn't look half bad.
The band started playing at a sturdy pace and I tapped a foot along.
"So, why not a dance on this fine night, Ruby?"
I looked at him, I was smiling now too.
"With sweat covered walls and drunk people all around us?" I asked in my most amazed voice, "there's no place I'd rather be"
And this is how I found myself dancing with non other then Brian Jones.
